The LA Margarita Power Rankings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Even though this Toluca Lake Mexican restaurant (with other locations in Burbank and Simi Valley) has been in business since 1969, its margaritas are consistently delicious and sugary. Expect the first few sips of this sweet marg to punch you in the face, but after a few more, your taste buds recalibrate. They’re also enormous, so you only need two before the buzz hits hard. Be sure to get the tortilla soup - it’s one of our favorites in town." - brant cox, sylvio martins

The 15 Best Classic Mexican Restaurants In LA

"Don Cuco has a handful of locations around town, but the original in Toluca Lake is where the real party can be found. Open since 1969, this specific location benefits greatly from being adjacent to every major studio in the Valley, and has margaritas that’ll put even the most seasoned office drinkers under the table. You’re coming to this classic spot simply because it’s a great time—and because eating unlimited chips and salsa with your coworkers on a Tuesday is the only way you’re making it to Friday." - brant cox, garrett snyder, arden shore

The 18 Best Restaurants In Burbank

"Don Cuco doesn’t serve the best Mexican food in LA or even The Valley, but it benefits greatly from having a location adjacent to every major studio in Burbank—not to mention margaritas that’ll put even your most seasoned coworker under the table. You’re coming to this restaurant simply because it’s a great time, and to eat their delicious Caribbean Chicken Salad that comes so loaded with raisins, pineapple, beans, and tortilla strips that you legally can’t say you ordered a salad.  " - brant cox

Went to both locations in the same week (my family and I enjoyed the food that much!). The one on Orange Grove is bigger and has better atmosphere. It also (for our experience) had the better service. The food at both is great and the drinks are spot on!! Also the salsa is addicting. For food I had the Pollo Picadillo (wasn't spicy for me) and the Pollo de Naranja. Also I'd suggest the tortilla soup! It's delicious! Drinks I had Strawberry Tejon-something like that and the Purple Cadillac. Both had great flavor and great alcohol content! Meaning they had flavor but you also knew you had liquor that wasn't watered down. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Come for the food and at the very least go for the drinks! You won't be disappointed at either location!

We had a great experience at Dom Cuco in Burbank, right next to the Tangerine Hotel. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the carne al pastor and my husband ordered fajitas and the queso fundido, all full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The service was excellent. Everyone was kind, attentive, and very polite. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the décor gives the place a really charming and authentic vibe. We loved everything about it and would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

We've been coming here for years! They have the best salsa and their combo plates are delish -- love the taco/enchilada combo. Service is also amazing, they are always quick to refill chips and salsa and are very welcoming and friendly. And the vibe?? So great! Love all the cozy booths and decor!

Google
Very cute atmosphere. I sat outside and the weather was perfect. The food here wasn’t impressive but there were large portions, unlimited chips and salsa with tasty cocktails. It was a busy night so there was a bit of a wait and the server was a bit pushy for us to order more. Overall tho, I would recommend this spot if you are in the area and want a cute place to eat at.

Google
Don Cuco's is one of my favourite places to visit. The staff are really friendly and accommodating, the food is incredibly tasty and fairly priced (I particularly love the quesadilla) and not the mention the free water and tortilla chips upon arrival - I could not recommend this place enough. The menu is huge, with a massive amount to choose from, both food and drink. I love this place and will keep visiting it as much as I can.

Google
Casual Mexican restaurant with very Ambient themed lighting and plenty of decor. It was a comfortable experience. At my time of visit there was plenty of staffing and consistent check ups on refills and other needs. There is a free parking structure next door with free 2 hour parking, with multiple levels. Very convenient. I ordered the 2 Enchiladas plate which came with beans, rice and also a choice of soup or salad, I went with the soup option. I chose 1 chicken and 1 beef enchilada. Overall the plate was delicious all around, especially the soup which my partner also enjoyed. I also ordered a strawberry margarita which I was asked for a smaller or bigger version. I chose the bigger version which was I believe 13 or 14$. I posted a photo of the size comparison to the water glasses; it was pretty big and no holding back on the alcohol. I would highly recommend.

Love this restaurant. I've never had to park far away either! Dining here is always fun. Reasonably priced with great food and beverages! The Service is very attentive and friendly. Clean and fun atmosphere. Sports on t.v. at the bar. Full of friends and laughter. ❤️

Yelp
For my -0th Birthday, a relative game me a gift card to Don Cuco's. He says if I like no-frills old school Mexican, then I will like this place because this is where the locals go. On this visit, we took our friends out to dinner and had a great time. I don't think there was anything bad about it. What was great was it was during the holidays so the decor was full-on display. - Our house margarita was good. My friend's margarita with cucumber was awesome (I wished I had that). - The chips and salsa were addicting. - I tried the Zarape's and that was worth it. My husband finished off mine and agreed. Note: Parking is off street. We'll definitely be back. It's now on our SoCal favorite list.

Yelp
It can be hard to find great authentic Mexican food in LA sometimes because of all the fancy, modern places around but Don Cuco hit the spot! We sat outside to avoid the 25 min wait for inside but the interior was real cute, next time we'll try to sit in there for sure. Chips and salsa were tasty, chile colorado was delicious, and chipotle burrito was good too. Waiter and bussers were attentive and helpful, and food came out fast.

Yelp
If you're looking for a charming, family-owned dining experience with incredible food and warm, attentive service, Don Cuco is a must-visit. We stopped here on a Saturday night after a day at Universal Studios, and the lively, bustling atmosphere told us right away we had made the right choice. One of the most delightful surprises was that every meal comes with soup or salad, a thoughtful touch that feels increasingly rare. The portions were generous, the flavors were spot on, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. It's clear this restaurant is loved by locals and visitors alike and for good reason. Whether you're visiting Los Angeles or just want a memorable meal, Don Cuco is well worth the trip. A true California gem!

Yelp
The surrounding area has really become a new LA spot for food, so this original Don Cucos is in for competition! Visited many times & rarely disappointed, the staff was great & food is consistently good. We had one issue with the food but the staff fixed it immediately. Huge portions on the #16, and margaritas are a must. Love the music & ambience, still a good location in a now hip area. I do prefer the Burbank location over this one, but the convenience & craving hit the spot.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a special accomplishment of a friend's and we were disappointed to say the least. Although the ambiance is cool, the service and food weren't worth it to me. The chicken tortilla soup was the best thing we all had. The flautas were soggy in the middle, and the quesadilla was very mediocre. My friend's enchiladas were cold when they arrived as well. The most unfortunate part was that they totally forgot about the meal of the person we were celebrating- everyone was done with their food by the time his meal came out. We had to ask to get the restaurant to take his meal off the bill. They didn't seem too apologetic oddly.. should have at least thrown in a dessert for the table. Would not recommend coming here for a celebration.

Yelp
Great Authentic mexican environment. Food is consistent, chips are always warm and the spicy sauce is always worth the request. Crispy tacos are a benchmark of fine Mexican dinning. Yes the irony. But beans, rice and tacos are the staple a and in my case the standard for comparison. Don Cucos is a pinnacle of that standard. Enjoy.

Yelp
I came here the other day with my husband and we thought the food was ok. Nothing crazy. My husband enjoyed his food but for me it was whatever. I got the tamale and enchilada plate. He got the fajitas. The service was great, though.

Yelp
3.5/5 Late Post It's been a while since my last visit to Don Cuco's. The chips and salsa are tasty and well-seasoned. I tried the pastor carne and arroz con pollo. Both dishes were part of a combo where you could choose between soup or salad. My partner and I went for both soups of the day: albondigas and chicken tortilla. The albondigas was rich in flavor but overly salty, while the chicken tortilla was the better choice that day. The arroz con pollo was decent, but covered in a lot of cheese and sour cream. The pastor carne was smaller than expected and lacked flavor - maybe it all went into the soup? The rice and beans were okay, but I would prefer the beans without onion and tomato in them. The service was average and could be improved. The servers were lacking in some areas, such as not refilling water promptly; we had to ask twice. Additionally, tortillas should be a standard when ordering Mexican food, but we had to request them. The atmosphere is dimly lit and romantic. They were quite busy on a Wednesday evening. They offer outdoor seating, and although I can't recall seeing outdoor heaters in the patio area but they are dog-friendly!

Yelp
Have been coming here for years since I've been working within less than a mile for 20+ years. Impromptu dinner on Valentines Day. We didn't plan on anything fancy since it's always Valentine's Day for us. It also happens to be Ash Wednesday. Seafood is always on the menu here. Easy. Tried the striped bass in garlic butter sauce. Garlic so strong no vampire will be able to stand you! It's tasty though. Garlic was seeping into the beans and rice. If you don't want that sauce touching other food on your plate then order the rice and beans on another plate. Cucumber margarita is refreshing like water. But don't drink it too fast or you'll end up curled under the table. It's just red vibes here. I don't think I've seen it in here any other way. The cactus chandelier is super cool! Service is always friendly and courteous. Parking on the street might get tricky during work day hours than evening.

Yelp
I ordered the enchiladas for my boyfriend and I finished the meal the rice taste so nasty I don't know what type of seasoning they used but it was awful. Left my debit card on the table by accident for less than 5 min and it suddenly disappeared no one could find it. I asked the host twice where it was and she said she didn't see anything and suddenly the waiter left early that day right after my shift. Shady! I would think twice about coming here.

Yelp
Quite a popular spot in burbank we had to wait 40+ minutes to be seated on a Thursday night round 7pm. I suppose that is the height of the dinner rush. Very festive interiors bathed in red lights with cacti chandeliers. Some one worked hard to get this a kitschy as it is - definitely done on purpose - quite fun. Food is typical commercial Mexican fare. Nothing great but comforting just the same. Prices match and their combinations makes it inexpensive. We had their el pastor taco and enchiladas combination, as well as the carnitas taco and tamale combo. We also tried their churros donut. Their menu is actually quite extensive and there are lots of things I'd like to try next time. They've got a full bar - lots of variation of tequila and good tasting flavored margaritas. Definitely a fun place to go with a group of friends. The one turn off for me is the difficulty in parking. No private lot, no valet. Good luck with street parking. Is it worth the wait and the hassle to park, I'm not sure.

Yelp
I partied with a 90-year-old man today. Oh, yes. My father in law turned 90 today, and my hubby and I took him for a festive birthday lunch at Don Cuco's. What a time! We drank margaritas together with extra salt. We ate chips, fresh guacamole, lobster enchiladas, and Chile Colorado. Everything was delicious, service was stellar, the air was festive. The afternoon ended with flan, a birthday candle, birthday singing, and a sombrero on my dad in law's head. He was mistaken for Al Pacino by one of the servers. My father in law is a dapper guy. Hats off to Ramon, our main server. He is fantastic. A hardworking and friendly man. He made the birthday special. We're making Don Cuco's a new annual tradition for the rest of my father in law's birthdays. A wonderful time was had. I love partying with oldsters!

Yelp
I began loving Don Cuco when the Glendale location was next to the Alex Theater and Mystery and Imagination Books. I used to do signings at the latter (I was the first author who ever signed there), and I directed a few things at the Alex and that was always our go-to restaurant and I enjoyed it every time. When it went away, I went to the Burbank location, which was fine. But for whatever reason, I'd never been to the Toluca Lake location, which I rectified last Saturday. Well, it was the best Mexican meal I've had in ages. Let me start by saying I live five minutes away from Casa Vega and I've been going there for years and for traditional Mexican food it was the best - until the last two years, when the quality has gone so downhill that I refused to ever return. Enter Don Cuco Toluca Lake-wise. I had what I always have at Mexican restaurants - the combination beef taco and cheese enchilada and a dinner salad. And guacamole for the table. Guac was first and was fantastic - just right and I cannot tell you how much awful guacamole I've had at other restaurants. This is simple, tasty, and perfect. Next came the dinner salad with their house Italian dressing - great dressing, salad fresh as can be. I could have eaten two more. Then came the main course. Well, the beef taco was the best I've ever had - period - and I've had a LOT of beef tacos at the best Mexican restaurants all over town. And the cheese enchilada was fantastic, just perfect, especially with a bit of guacamole on top. Now, I usually never eat more than a bite of the rice and beans, but I ate every bit of them here because they were that good. So, consider this a love letter. I'm sure it's very crowded at peak dining times and they don't do reservations, but I never eat at peak dining times, so I had no wait and there were only a handful of us and I found parking right across the street. I'm sure that can be daunting when it's crowded, but as I said, I go at off-times. I'll be back in the next day or two. You're not gonna be able to keep me away now!

Yelp
TLDR: 3.75/5 - Its no Salsa and Beer but for Burbank it isn't bad. The service is good, the food has huge portions and vibes are funky but in a cool way. Ordered: Combo Fajitas - 3.75/5 Definitely don't recommend this if you're sharing a table with a lot of people but alas when you order the sizzling plate you have to commit. The beef was somewhat tender, chicken a tad dry, there was unfortunately maybe 3 shrimp and overcooked but the flavor was there overall. It comes with a plate of beans and rice and guac which is a feast for the price. The beans and rice were quite nice. Pina Colada: 2/5 All sugar no spice (alc) Service: 5/5 Perhaps because we were a large party that stuck out like a sore thumb it called for more attention but the staff were very nice and friendly and accommodative to our party so that was nice. Chips and Salsa on the house! Vibes: 5/5 Its like a dark festive Mexican spot but has a homemade style to it. Be warned it is dark inside so don't run outside unless you want temporary blindness. Overall I wouldn't say I would necessarily come back but if you want pretty sizable portions for the price I'd say its mostly worth it.

Yelp
Great food, great drinks. Nice ambiance with typical cheesy decor and I am all for it. Red lighting, 3 tier fountain inside. It's great! The flan is also excellent! The mole enchiladas were delicious! I prefer this location over the Toluca one. The food tastes better here.

Yelp
We came here twice on our trip as we were staying next door at hotel. Both times, the food and service were great. Ambience is fun and different. Gluten free options too! Tequila lime chicken was delicious and I really enjoyed the shrimp fajitas.

Yelp
I usually give high ratings on my reviews because I do not want to hurt a restaurant and its employees. But this experience yesterday was really bad. Our server was great. Food came out very fast (maybe too fast). That's the 2 stars. We had heard from friends how great this place was. This was the Riverside Drive location in Burbank. The cucumber martini was undrinkable. Probably old cucumber (old mix), that had gone bad. It was replaced with wine. Okay, they remedied an issue with no argument. Food: my carnitas plate was 'used'. The saucer of salsa normally served on the dish was not there. It had already been dumped on the carnitas and was dried out, I mean really dried out. The carnitas were really cold. The server commented that the plate was hot, and it was, but I said the carnitas were cold. She replaced them quickly, this time there was a saucer of salsa. They were warm at best, and no seasoning at all. The fajitas were served as expected on a sizzling skillet. The steak was tough and definitely old. Both the steak and chicken were under-seasoned, if seasoned at all. My wife was sick by the time we got in the car. It took a bit longer for me. Old ingredients. Maybe Monday gets you leftover prepped food from Friday? I make a lot of Mexican food from scratch and use authentic ingredients. It is disappointing to make better food at home than that of an established restaurant. I really hope this was just a bad day in the kitchen. Otherwise, I will stick with Salsa & Beer.

Yelp
We've been coming to Don Cuco's for years now and it's just a pretty solid Mexican food option. We like that it's open late-ish, too (until 10 PM). The staff are attentive, service is fast, and the drinks are strong. Chips and salsa come with your meal. We usually opt to sit outside, but if you sit indoors, you're transported to a festive eatery with intimate booths. Every inch of this place is covered in decorations, artwork, frescoes, and hand painted tiles. TIPS: Their portions are extremely generous, even their appetizers, so don't be afraid of splitting a plate unless you want leftovers for lunch/dinner the next day. Street parking only.
google avatar

Alyson J.

Yelp
Yummy. Yummy get in my tummy! Even when I'm not hungry, I wanna go there. They have large portions of food to share, or eat alone. And their drinks... delicious. While it's a downside that there are long lines, it's worth the wait.
google avatar

Nicole Z.

Yelp
Went here for margaritas and wound up having an absolute FEAST. We ordered the molcajete for two which is basically a molcajete stuffed with alllll the meats (steak, chorizo, chicken, bacon wrapped shrimp) plus panela cheese, green onion and nopales all bathing in their red Sonora sauce (but we subbed for habanero salsa). As if that wasn't enough, it's served with your choice of flour or corn tortillas, rice, beans and guac and your choice of a soup or a salad per person - we opted for the albóndiga and chicken tortilla soups. And since we didn't quite know what we were getting ourselves into, we also ordered the Santa Fe roll as an appetizer. It came with a chipotle sauce that I could have drank. Oh and had a few refills of the free chips and salsa, which had a decent spice level. Left feeling full but happy!

Yelp
Don Cuco is definitely an "atmosphere restaurant," but that's OK. It'll do pretty nicely for a fun dinner out. The stuffed, crowded, skinny space works really well, as long as you don't mind feeling ever so slightly cramped in a very old school, yet charming, Mexican establishment. While the food is just OK, the service and aforementioned atmosphere elevate it to a place worth going to. I would avoid sitting on the boring sidewalk patio, as it has none of the charm of the interior. The service was far better than one would expect in your typical old fashioned Mexican restaurant, which was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the carnitas and had a house margarita from the bar. The carnitas were neither the best nor the worst I've had, and I would certainly consider ordering them again. The margarita was pretty solid for a house one, and I'd definitely stop by the slender bar for another if I was in the area. The rest of my party felt pretty similarly about their food, so I think it's safe to say that "pretty decent" is what you'll get here. In short, Don Cuco is a winner. It's not the best Mexican food you'll ever have, but the atmosphere and service will definitely prompt a return visit from me.

Yelp
Been here a few times now and it's a good old school Mexican spot with the booth seating and red lighting. I also really liked their cactus/nopal light fixtures. Anyway the restaurant is kind of narrow on the inside. The back of the restaurant is where you would sit with a bigger group. They also had a small area of outdoor seating, which was nice. The margaritas pack a good punch, and they even offer a skinny one for those watching their calories . Their chips are always coming up fresh from the fryer so expect some warm chips and dip in that tomatoey salsa but they do also have a spicier one upon request. I'd say to stick with their options from the grill whether it be steak chicken or fish/seafood. Honorable mentions also go out to their soap de albondigas and chicken tortilla soup. The chicken soup is some cheesy goodness and when topped with avocado... Yum! Service is quick and friendly. For your birthday, they will come out and put a sombrero on you and sing! Classic.

Yelp
I came to this Don Cuco for the first time today with my coworkers. We sat at the bar. I ordered the cheese enchilada and beef taco. The food was very good. Customer service was very good also. The ambiance was good. A little dark, but that doesn't bother me. It was extra awesome that college football was on. I would definitely come here again . :)

Yelp
We took our daughters out for dinner. My youngest ordered chicken fingers, but her meal arrived last, suggesting she was not particularly hungry. Upon inspecting her food, I observed that the chicken fingers were still pink on the inside. The manager expressed sincere apologies and promptly addressed the issue. Despite this unfortunate incident, we still enjoyed our time together. It was particularly Busy after all

Yelp
Drinks are good, food is ok. Service is great. We sat outside and it was chilly. They did have outdoor heaters.

Yelp
At a wonderful dinner with my family. David our server was amazing. Made our experience even better. We ordered a steak fajita which was super delicious and flavorful. Great drinks and food. Great atmosphere. My son said it feels like we are in Mexico.

Jemma S.

Yelp
Last night's dinner was disappointing. The food quality was poor, my margarita was undrinkable, and the service was bad. The restaurant's cleanliness was also concerning. I do not recommend this place.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite restaurants. They have a large menu with a variety of delicious options. My favorite items were the shredded beef enchiladas, carne asada plate, and the fajita burrito. Upgrade to the combo to get their delicious tortilla soup! I love how large the portions are, it's great for sharing or for leftovers! IThey also have great margaritas! The staff is so sweet too! Make sure to end your meal with the flan!
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
Went here, food is less than mediocre with high prices. Ordered the fajitas combo and literally 2 pieces of steak, 2 pieces of chicken, and 2 shrimps came out. I counted... all for $50

Yelp
Love this spot!!!!! Every time I'm in town DON CUCO IT IS. Food comes out SO FAST. The soup it's AMAZING. The chips and salsa are always FRESH!!! Servers are super friendly and makes sure all of my needs are met. The vibes are so cools makes you like you are in MEXCIO. The surf and turf burrito is my to go meal with green sauce and black creamy beans SO GOOD!!!!

Yelp
Food: Ooph...what an off-night for take out! Chicken Flautas, dry, pre-cooked and re-heated. Sad presentation. Usually, they are perfectly placed on a bed of shredded lettuce. The take out version was two lonely flautas rolling around in a oversized container. Chile Verde Burrito was "ok" per my husband. Fish Tacos were overcooked and also lacking in flavor. We also received someone else's Chicken Fingers, which, by the look of them, we may have saved someone a tummy ache from the amount of oil in which they were sitting. Service: Always busy at the happy hour so the front desk was on top of it and great.

Yelp
This has always been my favorite spot in town. The service is great - the bus (man) was all over the us - the table was clean, the dishes were removed quickly. Love the chips and salsa were good / salsa matters Mom enjoyed her Mexican pizza and I had the chicken tacos - cooked perfectly

Yelp
Fabulous Mexican food! We live in the OC but never hesitate driving up to Burbank for yummy food & cocktails. The service is always fast & friendly and the ambiance to restaurant is perfect for a date or a family get together. Everyone is welcome & feels right at home.

Bill P.

Yelp
We chose the place because it was right across the street from our hotel and had good reviews. Varied menu - great service - nicely prepared. The place had a nice vibe / couples / families. Monday night there was no waiting line . Afterwards we found out my daughter who used to work in the adjacent towers would have given us a recommendation as well so apparently it is popular with the lunch crowd as well. Close to Warner Studio as well.

Yelp
What a gem! I finally got to try this place last night! My parents and I were craving Mexican food and heard amazing things about Don Cuco. We decided to check it out. After living in Burbank for a year and a half and always driving by this place, we finally got to eat dinner here. It was the best! Our server Miriam was absolutely awesome! She totally deserves a raise! I ordered huevos rancheros and my parents ordered fish dishes. They were great with all of our modifications/substitutions to our orders. And their prices can't be beat! Oh and they have a fabulous bar menu! Come and have dinner and drinks! You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Kenny C.

Yelp
Always yummi, Don Cuco has been a staple in this neighborhood for a VERY long time, and the reason is simple, excellent food at reasonable prices. Whether a simple taco, or a more sophisticated camarones diablos, this joint keeps em coming back for more. I do wish they had a bigger bar.... :-)~
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
I love a themed Mexican food place! Double sided with a small bar to the left of the entrance, so classic Southern California, I grew with many places with this feel in Costa Mesa. Service was fabulous Food was great, beef enchilada, chile relleno, shrimp taco, fish taco and the free chips and salsa were on point. My wife liked her margarita.
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
Great food and Excellent service! We ordered one of the many fish dishes and the Steak Picado, both were delicious; tortilla chips tasted like they had just been made, hot and perfectly salted. I can't say enough about the service, they were friendly, attentive, amazing! We will be back again to try some of their other dishes.

Yelp
The service was terrible, my boyfriend and I went to this restaurant hoping to have a nice experience. The server was very unprofessional, came off as flirtatious and he was taking our order leaned on the booth only making eye contact with me. My boyfriend returned a margarita and asked for a beer instead, when we asked for our bill the server left the margarita on the bill and didn't charge us for the beer. Meaning we paid 15.00 for the margarita that we didn't drink. And he "gave us a $8 beer" instead. We were over charged for something we didn't drink. His excuse was his manager would get mad. And when I called to let them know the host also said that the manager okayed that transaction. By the way called the manager and offered us a free margarita but why ! We will never come here again. Soooo unprofessional and food was gross! New York steak = carne asada here.. Save your money and go to king taco

Yelp
I've been here twice I think; one several years ago and one recently. Their free tortilla chips and salsa have always stayed consistent. The crunchy fried texture of the chips with the spicy smooth balanced flavored salsa, you literally can't stopped eating. Recently, we ordered the cochinita pibil and molcajete. The molcajete was excellent, had an interesting salsa "broth" and their corn tortillas it came with was fresh and soft. The cheese in the dish was probably my favorite part, soft, smooth and a creamy texture, it added an interesting texture to the dish. The bacon wrapped shrimp was smokey and tasty though the shrimp was a little too hard for me. The chicken was so tender and moist, however the steak was too hard and chewy for me. Overall this dish was so unique that we had to give it a try. I was really excited to get the cochinta pibil however it wasn't what I expected. It was still good but for me, the pork was a little too hard and dry and the sauce was too liquid-y. I also was expecting more thicker sauce and spicier but perhaps every place makes it differently. The plantains were nicely grilled and the refried beans were good. The rice was soft and flavorful. Both dishes come with a free side soup or salad. We chose the tortilla soup and thought it may look and taste simple, there's so many toppings in the soup, it's the perfect balance of everything. I'm not really a soup person but I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it. Parking was also pretty easy to find. Nice and quiet neighbourhood. You might spot people in the entertainment industry dine here as it's next to Warner Brothers. The staff was very nice and gracious. The interior decor is so romantic with the dim red ambiance.

Yelp
A group of us came here for dinner before going to the Gary Marshall Theater, a short few blocks away. Everyone enjoyed their food, from tacos to fajitas to burritos and many shared portions of their order with others so we could all taste a different meal than we ordered for ourselves. The service was okay but could have been better, but we all ended up getting what we ordered with all of the changes such as no cheese, sauce on the side, etc. We will certainly think strongly about coming back next time we go to the theater if not before.

Yelp
Good to have a Mexican restaurant close to home for "Taco Tuesdays" or for any day and don't want to go on a far drive for some margaritas, as well. Service/food and drinks always hit the spot! Will keep on frequenting here.

Yelp
Don Cuco has quickly and definitely become a family favorite for some local and quality Mexican food with consistently great service with prompt delivery and a fun, cozy, traditional ambiance. We witnessed two different Happy Birthday songs in Spanish and English and what we liked is that we are also encouraged to sing along with them which added such a nice, friendly and family feel. Our family ordered the chile relleno (which my FIL absolutely loved), the lobster enchiladas, the sea was tacos, the combo fajitas for two with fresh corn tortillas, with our respective sides of chicken tortilla soup and salads. Our margaritas were also all fresh and delicious. What I especially loved about this place is the fact that every single item was fresh and really well cooked. The guacamole didn't taste processed - it tasted freshly mashed and topped with a splash of lemon or lime, the beans and cheese were delicious and light, the rice was fluffy and seasoned well, the salads were actually crispy and delicious and the chicken and potato chunks in one tortilla soups were tender and so well flavored. I was so impressed, and we were so surprised we hadn't given this place more of a chance sooner when it's been so close to our homes. I definitely recommend this spot for a casual date or for a family outing if you want a great experience with quality food. I'd also recommend out of towners to visit if they're looking for great food in Burbank/Toluca Lake. Shoutout to Franelli, our server, for being so awesome. PARKING: Street parking or covered and paid parking lot next to Olive and Thyme

Yelp
You literally can't find better! Not only is this place legendary but the food is also legendary. Highly recommend anything from here but if you need a top recommendation the chicken tortilla soup is the best. The service is very fast and friendly, the vibes are fantastic as well!

Yelp
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles. The inside of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The food is authentic and a little bit on the spicy side. I have great service here and love their queso fundido.

Yelp
The staff was excellent. The food though was a disappointment to say the least, I ordered mixed fajitas and it was two shrimp, two small pieces of steak, two small pieces of chicken. The steak was over seasoned with cumin and over cooked. For $25 I get cost have gone up but you can't serve up this depressing plate. I also ordered a Piña Colada and it was strong but had way too much ice used in that it watered down the sweet part of the drink. The restaurant looks great inside as usual but the cooking staff and management need to reassess the portions or drop some plates that don't make fiscal sense.

Yelp
This was my first time trying this place out. Came around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night and had to wait 30 min to get a table. Once we were seated, our waiter got our drinks order promptly (thankfully) We did have to wait a bit for him to come back and get our food order but they looked pretty busy that night. It's alright because they gave us chips and salsa to munch on and the salsa was actually good! To eat, I got the veggie burrito and my friends got the tortilla soup and Chicken Taquitos Rancheros. For drinks we got margaritas and the Mango Reyes. Veggie Burrito - I'm not sure what the one on their menu comes with but I asked for veggie fajitas, avocado, rice, and beans. It came as a wet burrito with melted cheese on top. Surprisingly really good!! And HUGE. I was extremely full. Tortilla Soup - The taste was good but the construction of the soup was kinda strange with there being huge chunks of carrots and veggies. Kind of felt like your mom trying to sneak in vegetables into your spaghetti sauce sorta vibe. Chicken Taquitos Rancheros - Larger than expected for the price. Tasted good but nothing incredibly special.  Drinks - The margaritas didn't exactly taste great but they sure were strong! Same goes for the vodka mango Reyes drink. It was so strong, not even the sweet mango flavor could cover up the alcohol! The interior had tons of booth seating and was decorated in a campy Mexican style. The lighting was completely red where we were seated, which was cool at first, and then just started to hurt my eyes. The food wasn't amazing but it wasn't awful. The service could have been better, but they did seem pretty busy and probably short staffed that night. There was also an odd smell when we got seated. Like as if a dirty rag was used to clean up the tables. Really off putting. Would I go back? Maybe. But I'm not dying to get my next meal from them anytime soon.

Yelp
They have delicious margaritas and the food is good, but I think it is extremely overpriced. You could at least offer a happy hour.
