Don Duck Old Quarter

"Bliss for duck lovers! This eatery in the bustling Old Quarter conjures up almost every conceivable form of your favourite poultry. For an authentic local taste, try the duck phở noodle soup. For a variation of the Chinese classic, order the grilled à la Peking duck or enjoy duck in hotpots, spring rolls, or even deep-fried and tossed in a sweet and sour sauce. Tasty food, a casual vibe and reasonable prices make this place a firm favourite." - Michelin Inspector

One of the best restaurants I tried in the Old Quarter. The duck dishes are incredible — I loved it so much I ate here twice! The staff are very friendly and accommodating, especially the manager/owner(?) who assisted us. On our second visit, he even gave us complimentary spring rolls. He also took the time to explain how to enjoy the dishes and its proper pairings, which made the experience even better. Overall, amazing food and exceptional hospitality. They truly deserve their Michelin Guide recognition!

Our second Michelin dining experience in Hanoi brought us to Don Duck Old Quarter, and it did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish they served. Beyond the excellent food, the customer service truly stood out. The manager patiently and tirelessly explained how to enjoy each dish, making sure every customer felt guided and well taken care of. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality elevated the entire dining experience. It was so good, we ended up eating there twice!

This restaurant is definitely one of my top three places during my trip to Hanoi. The duck breast steak was incredibly tender, and the roasted duck was delicious, pairing perfectly with the sauce provided. The braised duck offered a unique and interesting flavor, especially when enjoyed with the noodles. Overall, I was very impressed with the food. The staff were polite and provided helpful recommendations. The restaurant was clean, and the prices were reasonable considering the quality of the dishes.

I ordered a duck steak and was pleasantly surprised when I was given not only a free appetizer since I opted not to order a starter, but also a slice of watermelon as dessert also on the house after my meal! My waiter was fluent in English and very attentive, explaining dishes to me and checking up on me every so often. Service was certainly michelin level! The food was also delicious, and I enjoyed every bite. I do think the duck could have been more tender - it was a bit hard to chew, and it was also a bit tasteless by itself so I had to really dunk it in an very tasty sauce, but the overall dish was very good and every bite was savored!

A great spot in Hanoi’s Old Quarter if you’re curious to try duck-focused cuisine with a twist. The restaurant is well-known for its variety of duck dishes—from crispy roast duck and duck breast to flavorful duck soups and spring rolls. The food quality is generally excellent, with many visitors praising the tender, well-seasoned duck and interesting sauces. The ambiance is cosy and relaxed, perfect for lunch or dinner after exploring the neighbourhood, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and the menu offers creative takes on traditional and Cantonese-style duck preparations. I’d recommend this place especially if you love duck dishes or want something a bit different from typical Vietnamese food during your Hanoi trip.

Not sure the restaurant is over rated or just we didn't order the right food. Went to try because hubby is duck lover and good reviews. The sauce in the stauteed duck with basil leaves is good but the duck meat is very hard and not good quality part. Braised duck is better, the meat is tender but we don't like to go with the slice noodle. However, the service is pretty great, the owner or manager is very professional Other young staff are nice too. With price and food quality, we think it's the less favourite restaurant in Hanoi for us.

This may have been my favorite meal in Hanoi! The spring rolls were good, but the roasted duck was TO DIE FOR. Crispy skin and juicy meat, 10/10 delicious. My server was so helpful and attentive as well. Highly recommend!

It was so good the first time we had dinner there that we went back a second time! We were looking for something a little different, having had our fill of Bun Cha and Pho. For some reason I was also craving a glass of wine. Found Don Duck on a google search and turned up for dinner to be greeted by wonderful staff especially Long who took great pains to get to know us and to remember our names. On our first visit I had the Sweet and Sour Duck while my wife had Braised Duck with Galangal. Both were superb. On our second visit we both opted for the 1/4 Duck and had our fill. And Long remembered our names on our second visit! If you go and have the pleasure of being served by Long, do engage this young man in conversation - he is very dedicated to being superb at his job. We thoroughly recommend Don Duck - and if we were staying longer in Hanoi would doubtless try the other items on the menu. Sneaked a peek at some of the other patrons' choices and they looked yummy! Maybe next trip...
