I absolutely adore this place! The sweetest staff and the BEST Ramen!! Also a lot of Vegetarian friendly options which means so much! You can’t go wrong with anything you get. I would recommend this place to anyone! Also the vibes are really cute!

I’m far away from this place but always eat here when the opportunity presents itself. Authentic (I haven’t been to Japan, but…) japanese experience with perfectly prepared meal. Excellent noodles made in house.

THEY DON'T TIP THEIR STAFF. IT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE OWNERS. This is the main reason why it goes from two to one star. I find this very serious as it is a scam for customers and unfair to their staff. *See bottom of review for more details* I had high hopes for Don on Tate Street, but my visit was pretty disappointing. The hot stone bowl looked great at first, but the amount of shrimp they gave me over the amount of rice they gave me was ridiculous. It was not worth the price listed. The food itself was fine but bland. I got the hibachi shrimp don. I had to drown it in sauce to make it flavorful. The freshly cracked egg that cooks in the hot stone bowl was honestly the highlight — everything else felt mediocre. Service-wise, it was oddly overbearing. Staff kept checking in a bit too much. The check came out almost immediately after we finished eating, making us feel rushed and unwelcome, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. The older woman who seemed to be the manager or owner was particularly overattentive — it felt more forced than friendly. I appreciated the attempt at hospitality, but it came across as disorganized and pushy rather than caring. Between the poor food balance, uncomfortable pacing, and awkward service, I left disappointed and unlikely to return. *Note about tipping: I was told by someone who used to be a staff member that tips at Don do not go to the servers but instead go directly to the owners.* Bad vibes all around, especially with the tip situation. If you do decide to eat here, I’d suggest paying only what’s necessary and being cautious about where your “tip” actually goes.

I tried bimbimbap here for the very first time, and it was amazing! The dish came out sizzling hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything tasted really well-preserved, and the presentation made the experience even better. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re looking for a satisfying and authentic meal on Tate Street.

This is our favorite in Greensboro. They hosted my son’s rehearsal dinner recently, and everything was perfect. We had 48 people and we ordered off the menu—not easily done for the cooks, but everything was smooth and delicious. Mr. & Mrs. Lee are amazing team of host and chef. The food is always fresh; I highly recommend the salmon stone bowl. We are so fortunate to have such a restaurant like Don in our city.

The noodles were really good!! I was craving some noodles and my wife found this on google 10 out of 10, we will definitely revisit and recommend. It was first time and service and atmosphere was very nice and inviting. Lots of options to choose from. I got the Shoyu/tofu and my wife got Shoyu/shrimp it’s a soy sauce broth that is well flavored without being too salty.

Don is my favorite restaurant in Greensboro. I am not exaggerating. Every dish I’ve tried has been amazing. I have recommended it to 3 or 4 people now, and all of them have also enjoyed it when we went together. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. The service is prompt and everyone is nice. To me, it is the ideal place to have dinner with friends, which I do often at Don. I really think Don deserves more customers, because it’s a high quality restaurant experience.

Loved it! I stopped by for lunch and will do so again. My spicy ramen had amazing broth and plenty of tasty ramen toppings. Interior was clean, well-kept, and had a modern vibe. Exterior was a bit tricky in terms of finding parking, but not too bad. Definitely won’t stop me from going back. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I need to give this restaurant an updated review. I come to this restaurant very often now. I fell in love with their hot stone bowls. I usually try their bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. It stays hot the whole time you're eating it. They also have two sauces on the table to give it more flavor. Their fried tempura green tea ice cream is a must as well. It tastes like fried cake batter with green tea ice cream in the middle. The restaurant is small, yes. I did notice the server was sitting everyone in every other table to give each party some privacy and to make it feel more cozy. The servers were very attentive and friendly as always.

We read a lot of reviews on Yelp and decided to give Don Ishiyaki a try. My husband and I walked in on a Saturday night around 7:00. It wasn't busy and was seated right away. We ordered the chicken satay skewers. For 8 dollars they gave us 3 very small pieces of chicken. The sauce was good but was not worth $8. We both ordered the hot pot rice bowls. My Inagi eel bowl had three small pieces of eel with a ton of rice. No vegetables. My husband has the spicy tuna bowl. Although it had some shaved carrots and a few bean sprouts, the tuna was mediocre but again a lot of rice. Our bill was $50 that included the beer that my husband ordered. We have been to numerous sushi establishments as well as poke bowl places. We would have gotten so much more for the amount of money that we spent tonight. We were super disappointed. We ended up having to go somewhere else for snacks afterwards. I'm not sure who these people are that left glowing reviews or maybe they were just having an off night. Either way we will not be returning.

It's a decent size place. kinda small for the amount of people that seem to like eating there. The staff was very patient and friendly. They gave us time to decide what we wanted to eat. Some menu items were a bit confusing as the teriyaki chicken was cheaper than the hibachi chicken but the only difference between the two is the teriyaki sauce. You can't complain about your food being cold as they come in hot bowls and still cooks while on the table. You have to be careful but it's really hot. You can burn your tongue trying to eat. The food tastes really good though. They were even sweet enough to bring me a birthday dessert for my birthday! I'll definitely be returning!

This is a really neat small place on Tate St. My favorite element is the interior, which is decorated with a soothing Japanese aesthetic. The food is pretty darn good too. This is a great place to grab a hot bowl of chicken and rice with a hot carafe of sake, whether with a date or going George Thorogood, i.e. drinking alone. The space would be a little cramped for large groups. Also internet connectivity is a little spotty in this area, which once caused me to have to pay a parking fine that I feel was an injustice, but that doesn't really have to do with the restaurant. Just be leery should you use the micro-parking garage across the street. I'd definitely recommend this place. I love this area. There's a lot of interesting cuisine packed close together, and all the restaurants have a certain special vibe that comes from being situated at the heart of a public university.

Only thing I found difficult when coming here was looking for parking, in a very small secluded spot but it's cute for a date. The food was great and the tea was a refreshing Palate cleanser. The waiters were sweet and made sure we were alright. The restaurant itself is a little snug, wouldn't eat here with a stranger but with my significant other or friends it's great! Very comfortable and calming atmosphere.

Went on a date here, it was my first time and loved the overall ambiance of the restaurant. It was very cozy and intimate. The lighting and table set up make it very comfortable. The service was really good. The servers were very attentive but they did not hover which was nice. The food was amazing! Specifically my salmon & rice bowl which is served in a stone bowl which I think was a really nice touch. Overall i highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. I know I will certainly be back as often as possible.

Love this place! Owners are super sweet and try to get the food out as fast as possible! Staff members are also attentive to guest and making sure they don't need anything.

The staff is nice and they let us in as soon as they opened. I had the spicy ramen but could tell it was pack ramen from Gmart. How do I know? I've been eating the same pack ramen for years. Hoped for a more authentic feel. It was ok.

Don is a spot I used to visit all the time when I was a college student at UNCG (it's conveniently located right next to campus) and just recently it came to mind as a place I wanted my husband to try for something different than the same places we usually go. So glad we did!! With a menu full of noodles and rice bowls, you can't go wrong with any of the Asian flare they have to offer. We started the meal with the tempura fried chicken wings. We've never had tempura batter on a wing before but we aren't mad at it! The sweet/tangy sauce that came on the side also gave them a nice kick. We also each got the traditional miso soup. We opted for the rice bowls for our entrees. I got the salmon teriyaki rice bowl while my husband got the spicy tuna don rice bowl. Both came out in a steaming hot cast iron dish that cooks your protein, veggies, and crisps your rice to perfection all while eating it. I will say, it took us a solid half hour to eat the whole thing because it's so hot! But it's one of the best/unique things about eating at Don! I'm sad I didnt think to take my hubby and I here sooner (I swear it's been 10 years since I've had it) but we are already planning what to offer during our next visit! If you're in or around the UNCG campus, this is a great lunch or quick dinner spot!

My first visit after getting two recommendations. The service was great, really appreciate that. I like the quant dining room. It was small but I still felt like I had privacy. The menu looked great. However both my partner and I thought the food was a little bland. We expected more spices and flavors. That kind of disappointed us.

Although Don is a restaurant that's on the smaller side, the atmosphere, service, and some of the Korean and Japanese flavors that are present here hit the spot big time. The restaurant is run by an older Asian couple, and they were extremely nice and quick to take drink and food orders. The interior is cozy with Asian design elements, and it has a really comfortable vibe. On each table, there's an organizer with everything you need to eat, such as napkins, chopsticks, and straws. There's also two sauces; a Japanese mayo white sauce and a Korean gochujang spicy red sauce, both of which are delicious and pair well with the dishes. The portions were great for the prices. The menu itself is also unique in that it offers mostly noodle and rice bowl dishes! Though, the food felt like a hit-or-miss situation, with some of the items being absolutely stellar and some falling below the mark. Appetizers: *Pan-fried Vegetable Gyoza: Six pieces of crispy, chewy goodness! The filling and texture was great. There were also glass noodles in the filling, and it felt authentic to the Korean aspect of the restaurant! Dipping them into the dipping sauce made the perfect bite to start off with! *Seafood Pancake: A Korean dish that lacked the Korean flare. The dough-y texture and seafood:batter ratio was disappointing. It wasn't crispy and didn't have much shrimp, clam, or calamari. It was mostly dough and onions. *Tuna Tataki: Generic thinly sliced tuna that didn't have enough sauce to cover the extremely fishy taste that was left after eating it. The fish didn't taste as fresh as it looked. Entrées: *Bimbimbap: A Classic Korean dish, served in a stone bowl, done perfectly. The hot stone bowl made the rice sizzle and created a great crispy texture to the dish. Stirring the rice, meat, egg, and vegetables together created perfect, hot combos after each bite. *Chicken Yakisoba: The yakisoba fell short in terms of flavor. The chicken and vegetables were bland and the noodles tasted oily. Wasn't impressed with this dish. *Salmon Teriyaki: Soft, caramelized, and flavorful salmon served in a hot stone bowl. The rice also sizzled and made really great crunchy textures with the soft fish. *Gyu-don: A don that was spot on! The dashi sauce made the rice, beef, and onions moist and flavorful. It's a simple, humble dish that's packed with good flavors. Overall, I highly recommend the rice bowls and don dishes over the other options. The food is authentic and the meals are good for the price. There were items I preferred more over others, but I will come back to try some of the other dishes and to get the items I did enjoy!

My husband discovered this place while working at UNCG. It's a great quick lunch option for some yummy and authentic Japanese rice bowls, ramen, and other specialties. It is run by a nice older couple. The place is on the smaller side, but has cute Asian interior design elements. You always get your food pretty fast and I find the flavor to be consistently delicious. I have personally never gotten the ramen, but the rice bowls are on point. My favorites are the bibimbap, spicy tuna don, hibachi shrimp, and vegetable don. On my last visit, I was craving veggies so I got the Vegetable Don (tofu, bean sprouts, chives, shiitake mushrooms, carrots, sautéed onion, zucchini over rice). I like tofu, but never seem to succeed when I try to make it myself. The tofu here was great-right firmness, texture, and taste. The veggies were also crisp and plentiful. The bowl entrees come in a legit hot stone bowl and you mix all the food ingredients (and your desired amount of the two provided sauces -white and a hot sriracha type) together to finish cooking it for optimal deliciousness. You hear the ingredients sizzle and it crisps up the rice a little. Yum! This process is especially great with the bibimbap as it cooks the egg! My husband got teriyaki chicken, as he wanted even more sauce! You can also customize the bowls with extra meat and vegetables if you want for extra cost. Don is a regular stop in our rotation as it's quick, delicious, can be healthy depending on your order, and local. Enjoy!

It was ok. I would go back, but not for ramen. The broth did not have the depth of flavors I am used to at some other restaurants around Greensboro. The service was good... ambiance ok

I've been going to Don since about 2015 or 2016, when I worked on UNCGs campus, it's a great quick lunch spot that can beat a 30 min timeframe, but also a good place for dinner. Their Japanese/Korean fusion really satisfies my soul and stomach. I usually get the hot stone bowl of almost any protein variety. Most recently I got the Teryaki salmon, but have enjoyed most of their hit stone bowls. I don't usually get any appetizers, but I do recall their dumplings were good. The ingredients are fresh and the stone bowls come out piping hot. Sizzling so much you have to stir the dish to cook it some at the table. They also provide a home made hot sauce and home made white sauce to accompany. This is a small place, not a ton of seating, mostly booths, but the decor is nice. It's a bit surprising to me that Don's reviews here on Yelp are so polar. This place is fantastic, I definitely recommend checking this place out for lunch next time you are on Tate St.

As always, this little gem near UNCG was spot on. Its a small, little space but the food is big on flavor and service. I almost always get the rice bowl that is brought to the table in cast iron bowl carried in a wooden crate. The bowl sizzles long after it's brought to the table. Mix it up and stir in some white sauce or the spicy sauce on the table and YUM! The restaurant can get quite busy, but they do their best to get you out as quickly as possible during a workday lunch. The little scoop of ice milk at the end of the meal is a nice touch!

The ramen is instant noodles, no egg, no nori and the broth is completely clear. This. IA. Not. Ramen. The red flag was when they brought out the green tea it was a Twinings teabag. I asked what the noodles were used and the "chef" came out and started arguing "This is what they serve in Japan." I lived in Asia for 22 years and have been to Japan 3 times, pal... Avoid!

It's been a while since I've eaten here but Don does not disappoint. Nothing taste better on a cold night than some hot broth with udon noodles. I had the shrimp udon and it was mo-ney. The noodles are thick and chewy. The broth is stellar. Clean and full of flavor. A couple of tablespoons of seracha only makes it better. I wish it had more bean sprouts and mushrooms but that's ok. Plenty of shrimp as well. Lisa had the teriyaki chicken don bowl. This is served in a stone bowl heated to 500°. Everything finishes cooking in the bowl and the rice ends up with some crunch. I've had their spicy ahi Dawn bowl as well as the bibimbap and they are all fantastic. There's only seating for about 25 in here but you will absolutely love it and the food is always exceptional.

We drove from Rural Ramen hall/king area, and the food was marginal, and service was to be desired of I guess maybe it was because we weren't from there ....I think

I think the rating should be 3.5. I liked my salmon teriyaki bowl. It was sizzling hot with caramelized rice that became candied due to the teriyaki becoming a glaze. It was a delicacy. I just wish there was pickled veggies or a sour component to keep it interesting. In addition, i thouhh the rice portion and salmon portion were on the smaller side. They have two home made sauces on the table. One is a sweet white mayo and the other red sauce was more like gochujang. I liked both.

A friend & I came here today for a late lunch. Looked tasty, allergy-friendly (we both have strange food allergies), & appeared cute. I am so happy we stopped by. The food was outstanding! It was flavorful & the right temperature, and came out very promptly. The service was amazing! They were so kind to us and they clearly cater well to their guests. I will definitely eat here again!

Yo who's this Don guy making all this Japanese food!? I mean it was good and all but I don't believe the owners name is Don. I have questions okay but holy moly that was a dope rice bowl but no way a dude named Don owns this place.

The service was great but the ramen was a JOKE. I paid $30 for two packs of instant noodles I could have easily boiled at home. No egg, no actual meat. I've had actual ramen at restaurants before and this wasn't it. It was almost laughable but I was def annoyed about the fact that they fooled me.

I love their salmon teriyaki rice bowl. If you haven't had it, you should. It comes in a hot stone bowl with typically generous portions; it may not look like a lot at first glance, but will fill you up. Overall, cute little restaurant with a relaxing environment. Small interior, not great for large groups.

Based on the other reviews... it is going to seem like my review comes out of a Twilight Zone version of this place, where nothing is sauced, seasoned, cooked right, or even something to remember. But here we are. Myself and three others who had never been to "Don's" on Tate st. decided to check it out based on the strength of the other reviews... and honestly, even with my most optimistic hat on, it was just not good. It also wasn't just one dish, I tried a little bit of each person's at the table, and their assessment as well as mine was the same... bland, in a cuisine that shouldn't be that way, as if they forgot to season or sauce everything entirely. Looking into the two hot stone bowls at the table, that seemed to be the case. I didn't see any kind of sauce, just protein, rice, vegetables. Granted, those two eaters were not adventurous enough to go with the Bibimbap or anything complex, but on the whole, they'd have been better served and for less cost at most any hibachi take out in town. The third diner got a beef udon stir-fry, which I thought was a little better, but the meat itself had a strange consistency to it. Almost more like beef jerky than any kind of sliced raw beef. It turned her off, and didn't thrill me either. Finally, I had the spicy ramen bowl, which i figured to be a specialty of theirs since it's in the name. Mine was the best of the bunch, but still whole heartedly disappointing. The broth was spicy, but the depth of flavor of a rich stock was missing. Instead it was watery, both in appearance and taste. And without a good broth, face it, you're just eating ramen noodles and meat, something you could do at home for less. It was disappointing, and unfortunate timing, given I don't usually suggest a place for a group unless I go myself first. I took a leap this time, and got a little burned. Definitely took my share of ribbing from the crew the rest of the night for that one. Maybe it was an off-night, maybe someone legitimately forgot to season the dishes before serving, either way... it didn't help us any.

I had reasonable expectations coming into Don Ishiyaki due to their success and longevity in a college town. I left with better results than I'd have imagined with the hopes of returning! Just a block off the campus of UNCG and a place that's packed at lunch during the week! I went into a nearly empty small dining room shortly after 11am on a weekday. By noon, the place was completely full and I was leaving completely satisfied! The Vegetable Spring Rolls appear to be house made and certainly taste that way! Fresh, crispy, and full of shredded vegetables I can certainly say with certainty these are worth it! I also can recommend the Hibachi Chicken Rice Bowl served in a hot cast iron bowl that keeps your food hot throughout your meal! The flavors are just incredible and the portions are very fair!

Love their food and have always had a good experience. The service is great. Employees are nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant is pretty as well.

If you read my Yelp bio, you will see that the bulgogi don is my last meal if I ever needed to choose one. This is a hole in the wall almost on a college campus, and a husband and wife run this place almost completely alone. They are super friendly and they care deeply about their product. The beef udon stirfry is what you need to order. Add a little splash of the homemade white sauce on the table and welcome to the club!

OMG! I still can't stop thinking about this place. I love a good ramen and this place did not disappoint. We came here for dinner and we got sat right away. Service was good. We started off with the steamed pork gyozas. They were fresh and tasty. I got the chili ramen with beef and a egg and my husband got the miso ramen with beef and a egg. I was so happy with my order. It was spicy and just right. My husband thought this was ok but super salty. He liked my dish better. Once we were done, we were served complimentary ice cream. What a nice gesture! This place is perfect for the upcoming cold weather. I can't wait to come back!!

Hard to park hard to access. I had a curry dish and dpicy beef ramen. Kinda bland and ramen was really thick compared to other places. Curry was very bland but that might've been the Japanese style. Will try again but with different items

the owner is so nice!!!! and the food is amazing!!! i go to school around the corner and my lunch starts at 10:50 hes so kind when i call 5 minutes before eleven so my lunch is ready for when i get there, he is so kind and the ramen and goyza are amazing!!!!!

Outstanding! This modest storefront just off campus from UNCG serves up some delicious rice bowls! There are about a dozen tables, surrounded by traditional Japanese decor. There's fusion jazz playing, albeit slightly too loud. The rice bowls are served in a super-heated stone bowl (ishiyaki). The bowl is brought to the table on a handled wooden tray. I chose the Bibimbap don, Amy had the hibachi chicken don and Emily had the vegetable don - all rice bowls. On top of sticky rice, the bibimbap was heaped with beef, bean sprouts, shittake mushrooms, chives and kimchee. And topped with a raw egg. Mixing everything together in the stone bowl, the egg fries. Bibimbap is a favorite, with the savory blend of the beef and vegetables and the bitterness of the kimchee. Sauces, on the side, add a creamy tang plus a bit of hot and sweet. The BEST PART is how the rice around the sides turns slightly crunchy from the heat of the bowl. Yum! The hibachi chicken included chunks of grilled chicken , bean sprouts, sauteed onion & zucchini with a touch of teriyaki sauce, over sticky rice. Another excellent taste combination, pumped up with a splash of each of the sauces. The vegetable don features tofu, bean sprouts, carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, sauteed onions and is garnished with chives. Plus those sauces, this is enough to satisfy any vegetarian (or carnivore!). Service is ultra quick, the rice bowls are at the table in minutes. For dessert, each diner is served a complimentary cup of ice cream, dotted with a few chocolate chips. A nice touch. Lunch for 3 was $36, with soft drinks. Don serves up some excellent Japanese and Korean dishes. Can't wait to stop back to sample some of the other menu choices.

I liked this place at first given the other reviews I was curious to try it out -- till my friend found a hair in her bowl , it's also super dark inside which is really suspicious , the old lady who took our order made us feel super rushed and like we weren't welcomed there I definitely don't recommend

The restaurant is in a small space so the tables mostly line 2 walls down a narrow aisle. It's a tight fit but the food is worth it! Even though the place was packed, the service was excellent. Food was served within about 10 minutes. The Yakisoba was very good and even better with the hot sauce available on the table in a squeeze bottle. If you prefer, there's also white sauce available. After the server picks up your plates, a small cup of ice cream is delivered to finish out your meal. Very good food and service. Highly recommend it! Go outside the lunch or dinner rush for a more all around pleasant experience!

Don Ishiyaki & Ramen is a cool little Japanese restaurant that is different than the other Japanese restaurants that I'm familiar with. No sushi or bento boxes rather, they offer noodles and rice bowls. I don't profess to be expert in Japanese cuisine, far from it, but I do know what I like when it's in front of me. I had the bulgogi don rice bowl which was very good. Served in a piping hot stone bowl, the beef had a great flavor. I passed on adding the egg, however, next time I believe I'll try it. The rice bowls are offered with beef, chicken, shrimp, or tofu. This establishment has been on Tate Street for a very long time which speaks to its quality. The ambiance is nice and calming. Service is very attentive and friendly. The prices for lunch are more than I normally pay. It did not appear they had a lunch menu. Given the serving size, it is still a good value.

Needs a little interior update, but food was on point and very fresh. Staff was friendly. I got a chicken teriyaki bowl. Will definitely go again.

Fantastic place. Had no idea that it had been open for years here--they are so kind! Solid food at a reasonable price. Options for every type of eater. If you too choose the Spicy Chili Ramen, your sinuses will be happily cleared, and you can leave feeling not gross nor overly filled. Looking forward to coming back and trying the tuna and more udon :)

I love this place! From the food, to the atmosphere, to the owner, coming here is nothing short of awesome. There is something for everyone that like Asian food, and it's a very diverse menu. So many fun dishes you can't get anywhere else in Greensboro. I love the bowls because you essentially fry your rice in front of you. The service is always awesome. After you eat, you get a small cup of ice cream with a cookie. It's the perfect amount of dessert!! The owner is usually there in his cowboy hat, greeting people when they get there, and waving as you leave. I love coming to eat here. Plus, you're supporting local!

Dons makes great ramen and shoyu soups. I personally like the udon shoyu soup. I'd have posted the pics if we all hadn't eaten it so fast! My kids love the calamari and the salmon terriyaki... If you haven't gone to Dons give it a try. We haven't been disappointed in the 4 years we've been coming here.

Read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. They didn't disappoint and my family was very impressed from the moment we walked in. We were greeted promptly with a friendly smile. The waitress was very attentive and described the food that we had questions about perfectly. The appetizers came out fast and were exactly as expected. The food was not far behind and was delivered with the same attentiveness as we had already experienced. The food, ahh, the food. All I can say is WOW!!! It exceeded all of our expectations and was bursting with a flavor that can only be described as heavenly. We will definitely be putting this on our return list and highly recommend you put it on yours too.

One star for the worst Ramen I ever had! If you want a real and good ramen, don't go to this place. Beside with bad ramen, I would recommend the Bibimbap , they're really good and tasty.

I never write reviews of restaurants, but Don is so outstanding that I had to rave about them. It's a small mom and pop restaurant run by two of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. The food is authentic Japanese, and it is to die for. The service is always great, and the food is always quick, hot, and fresh, even when they're busy. Hands down my favorite Japanese restaurant, and one of my favorite restaurants overall. I come here every time I get the chance. Don never disappoints!

Was looking forward to eating here after seeing the great reviews. Sadly, we left very disappointed. Shrimp tempura appetizer was wonderful. Chicken tempura appetizer was a little bland but good; however not worth the price for what you get. Ordered the Miso Ramen - way too salty. Soup broth almost unedible due to so much sodium. Saltier than cup of noodles. Very little beef. Very disappointed. Ramen, is not what I would expect from a Japanese restaurant. Very nice that they give you a scoop of Vanilla ice cream after your meal. It helped to eliminate the sodium from our mouths. Service was lacking. Waitress disappeared (although it may have been the end of her shift), and the owner/manager was busy talking on the phone. Extremely disappointed.

I continue my love affair with this place with every visit. It's my daughter's favorite restaurant in Greensboro and she always orders the bulgogi don hot stone bowl. My usual go to is the same but I have tried the salmon don, the chicken katsu don and the yakisoba with shrimp. Next time I'll try the miso ramen. The house salad is always fresh, crisp and dressed with the best ginger dressing in town imo. The gyoza and shrimp tempura are great starters. Don's wife is often the only server and is a doll! Friendly and efficient. Parking can be a challenge but there are a few spots behind the building off Tate. Please visit Don if you haven't already done so. You will leave happy and full.

OMG!!!! Don't miss out on this place if you're in Greensboro near UNCG!!! The food and atmosphere are truly amazing. You literally feel like you're sitting in a tiny place in Japan.

I got the shrimp don hot bowl with green onion and mushrooms added with rib eye steak added as well. And the spicy ramen(I wanted just soup, but they only do it with noodles) so I got both and mixed them together and AMAZING! So many flavors and the broth was very flavorful. Very filling and satisfying. Worth the try I'll be back!

Best ramen miso soup, so simple but so good, comforting excellent service. Food excellent and great idea in the stone bowls, although it can be too hot, but I want to go back in cold days.
