The food was delicious! The service was top notch. The waiters were all very friendly. I went during happy hour, the frozen margaritas were perfect on a hot day. Looking forward to returning.

Huge portions & it's pretty good I am a harsher critic because I grew up on Tex-Mex but this is a good restaurant if you need decent mexican quick! I enjoyed the queso & the caesar salad was delicious! Service was good & the inside was typical bug very spacious.

if you come at happy hour, you can get a margarita for three dollars oh my God that is so cheap the chips and salsa are just OK. You can ask for a spicier salsa taste a little bit better if you like spicy, I ordered a chimichanga with a side of rice and beans and it was pretty good. Not bad for this area to try to get Mexican food.

I was staying at the DoubleTree across the street and decided to give Don Jose's a try and I'm really glad I did! It was a short wait for a table and service was great, chips and salsa were good and the top shelf margaritas were great. I ordered the cookout fajitas for 1 and they were delicious, the chicken and steak were served as a whole piece and they were very tender and moist, the shrimp a chorizo were also cooked and seasoned perfectly. I will definitely return and order this again on a future trip

Got the Margherita flight, Mexican corn, chciken fajitas, and sampler. Food was good except the chili relleno, which tasted like spinach with a processed cheese sauce. Ground beef seemed to be a lesser quality, as did the shredded cheese. Yet, the waitstaff was wonderful, and food came out quickly. The restaurant is fairly large and has a great ambiance. I did notice that the "suggested tip" at the bottom of the receipt was wrong. The "1" was missing. If someone purely went on the suggested tip listed on the receipt and didn't do the math, they would be short changing the waitress significantly. For example, on my $78 bill, the suggested tip was $2.48 , which isn't even 10%. I brought this to the attention of the restaurant, but please do the math if you come here.

Perhaps this holds sentimental value because it was the first place I ever ate in NOLA outside the airport, but we always have a consistent meal and service here. Additionally, the amount we end up paying is typically less than when we go out other places. They just re-did their menu, but still have the staples that we love. Specifically we love the el pollo loco. It's so creamy and makes great left overs if we eat too many chips and salsa or chorizo before hand.

I left this review on Google Review but I'm leaving it here too... I ordered delivery through DoorDash after a really long day, and I accidentally put it through as pick up. I am a flight attendant on a layover with no vehicle, so there was no way for me to go and pick it up without paying for an Uber to do so. DoorDash basically told me there was nothing they could do. I called the restaurant and Alexis answered. She went above and beyond for me, calling DoorDash and telling them they needed to rectify the situation, and they did! She was absolutely amazing. Great food, outstanding service! Thank you so much, Alexis!!

Discovered this gem 3 months ago and have returned several times. Food is always prepared great and fast! Service is friendly. Tacos are particularly good but wife and I have tried several dishes and impressed with them all!

Used to be a great place to eat. Had the worst plate of Mexican food today I've ever tasted. Could not eat it. Wouldn't even feed it to a dog. It was a lunch plate that had a beef burrito, shrimp chili releno, and a chicken quesadilla. I only took one bite of each item. The shredded chicken in the quesadilla tasted like chicken out the can, the shrimp in the stuffed pepper still had the shells on them, tasted old. I gave my boyfriend half of the quesadilla to let him try how bad it was..he agreed, took a couple bites and left it on his plate. When I told management that I could not eat my dish and wanted to send it back they argued with me and insisted the food was fresh and fine. They would not just simply take it off the bill. After arguing me for a few minutes she finally said she will have to charge me for the quesadilla since we ate some of it. I hope it was worth losing a regular customer for her terrible way she handled this.

I hade one of their Mexican bowel Taco bowl. It was delicious. My wife had her regular thing. Shrimp Chimichanga with the rice and beans. We will definitely be back.

The location is beautiful and it screams Mexican cuisine. You can smell the food when you enter the building. They sit you down very quickly and take your drink orders and return with chips and salsa. When we said we had not ordered it we were told it's their signature to give it to customers as a thank you for dinning thete. The waiter was always checking in and our drinks were always full. The chicken tortilla soup was hot and full of flavor. My granddaughter and I ate it all. The stuffed burrito, taco, and beans were delicious and it was so much we could not eat it all. My daughter had the steak and shrimp dish and was excited to taste so many wonderful flavors. It was by far the best Mexican food we have had in the city of Kenner. We will be back and encourage all of you to try this restaurant. You will not be disappointed!

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The food and drinks are great. Nice atmosphere and service. Spent Cinco de Mayo here and it was very fun! We come here weekly.

Actually love this place, food and service but the last 2 times we've been here the service has been horrible. Praying it's only because no one wants to work these days but I'll still be back!

Prices have really increased. Found a hair in my salsa bowl and was totally grossed out. Waitress disappeared for a long while and we were without chips after we ordered a large side of queso dip. The saving grace was the margarita, but it's not enough to make me return.

Very average. Chips bland. Salsa bland. I ordered the mango salad( stfu I'm on a diet)and it was pretty fresh and came out lightning speed. Cook was on point. Girl at the bar had about as much personality as a cardboard box. Was gone most of the time but did check in on me on a subpar level. I would eat here again if I were in a hurry.

My friend and I got food poisoning from here and when I talked to the restaurant to inform them, they denied that it could possibly be from their food. Was astonished that they could not offer just an apology. Definitely will not be back and would stay away from their shrimp pollo loco

I love it here ! The authentic atmosphere feels welcoming and immediately you know you're in the right place. I found this place after visiting AZ and craving authentic Mexican cuisine. Don Jose's Grill did not disappoint. I definitely recommend our server, Carlos, who was great and attentive. Food: I ordered the Molcajete which was full of flavor. I personally prefer the peppers caramelized, however the raw peppers added a sense of freshness and a nice crunch when you pull everything together ! My company ordered the spicy mango salmon. She didn't leave one bite and said it was delicious and she'll definitely be returning ! Drinks: The best part!! Aren't you over ordering jalapeño marg and it actually being a house margarita with a jalapeño floating in it ? NOT HERE! Trust me you'll end up having two ! Overall, It was a great experience. I highly recommend!

HORRIBLE SERVICE! After being seated, we sat for over ten minutes waiting to be greeted and our order to be taken. No one came to our table. But a white couple came in and IMMEDIATELY got service. Never coming here again!

Extremely dirty! Great staff sadly operating by poor management. Ordered main dishes and came out within minutes and of course served cold, chicken beef pork all cold. Spoke to shift leader and she offered to place in microwave. Needless to say we left. The restaurant needs to be deep cleaned as your eating with nothing but pure dust and dirty surrounding you and main dish.

The food is good but we recently held my husband birthday dinner there and the service was fantastic! They were more into his birthday than he was. He loved it! Thank you.

What can I say, this is my go to place. We love their food because of their portion sizes and the Flavor of their food. I order from here at least 2 to three times a month. Their salsa is the best. Parking can be a problem, but it is worth it.

We just arrived in the Kenner area to visit with my son and his family, and everyone was starved so we decided to give Don Jose's a try. It was lunch time on a Friday so we were able to try the Lunch Menu. We ordered a couple of Queso Appetizers, and the kids demolished that in no time. The salsa, chips, and queso were all excellent and fresh. The chips were homemade and not greasy like some places. It's a fairly large restaurant with plenty of parking. Once inside, we were greeted and seated immediately despite having a fairly large group. Staff were friendly and helpful. Between all of us we ordered the Chimi-Changa, Combination Plate, and the Chicken and Steak Fajitas. The lunch portions were still enormous, and food was brought home. Everything was fresh and delicious. The food was good, they have a HUGE variety on their menu. The food is also reasonably priced, and we'd go again when we are in the area.

I came here for lunch with my friend on Sunday. She had been before and recommended it. They start you off with a basket of complimentary chips and salsa that were pretty good. We both ordered Fajitas and they were very good. I had plenty of leftovers for dinner. Seemed like a solid place for good Mexican food. Our server was very attentive and efficient. The ladies running the front were a little standoffish, but overall a decent place.

100/10 literally my favorite mexican restaurant. their queso is to die for and their cheese enchiladas are the best. they also have amazing quesadillas and fried ice cream

Went for my nephews birthday. Service was ok, could have been better but could have been worse. Had 2 beer and the Mexican burger. Talk about delicious...this burger was absolutely excellent! The only thing I took off was the avocado because I've yet to try it...burger patty was so tasty and everything about it was just right. Chips and salsa are also phenomenal. I do recommend! Wish I had pictures and prices but sadly I don't

Great fajitas! Great margaritas! Great atmosphere! We ordered the the chicken and steak fajitas for two and it could have fed way more than two! The chicken, fajitas, and veggies were perfectly seasoned and delicious! It also came with two plates of toppings including lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, rice and beans! All delicious! The margaritas were delicious! They also serve a margarita tower that looks like a party waiting to happen! Definitely recommend this restaurant for those loving great Mexican food!

Great Tex-Mex place close to the airport. Service is pretty great and the servers are very friendly. Drinks are pretty great as well. A great place to stop by when going to / from the airport. Recommend trying the steak chimichanga - they are smothered in delicious but light queso. Also recommend the spicy pork tacos!

White washed Mexican food. You know it's sad when even the tacos were gross, soggy tortillas that taste like ones you get in a bag from Walmart. Just overall disappointing

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at. Their stuffed Pablano Pepper was far and away the best ive ever had. Highly recommend.

Hadn't been here in years. Decided to go in for lunch around 12:45pm. Not too crowded, so I was immediately seated. Ordered the chicken fajitas and baaaby everything about them was good! Chicken was cooked just right, as well as the veggies, rice and beans. The server was very attentive but not overly. When I ordered a side of guacamole I just knew it would be a child's portion. Nope, she brought me a grown up bowl full! LOL I didn't have an alcoholic beverage so no comment on that. (I will next time) but the food was delicious!

We love the service we get from Kamila?. She is very attentive and spot on with our service. Our latest visit was no different. Brought good friends of ours with us and they also got to experience the great food and service. This has become one of our favorite places to go to.

I've wanted to try Don Jose's forever, and today I got my chance. It was definitely worth the wait. We arrived, were greeted and seated right away. Our waiter arrived, took our drink orders and gave us time to look over our menus. Our drinks were delivered - my sangria was tasty and hit the spot, my daughter's Shirley Temple made her happy, and my husband's beer was ice cold. We placed our order and munched on our complimentary basket of chips and salsa. Good stuff. We had the ceviche - delicious and the portion was pretty large. My daughter and husband split the fajitas for 2 and I had one of the combo platters. I loved my food and was blown away by the value. My husband and daughter were happy with their fajitas. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. We never waited for drink refills and our table was cleared of dishes as we used them. I definitely want to go back for a margarita - there were several on the menu and they were pretty unique. I'll definitely return.

Before I start typing know that I do not care about paying for good quality food. I recently got two steak tacos. My total was over $10 for the two tacos, nothing extra. Ok... that's fine but, the meat smells like roach and it is hard to chew. In other words, cheap meat for a very high price. I wish we have Habaneros on this side of the lake, Habaneros doesn't just take the money from customers, they put their heart when they cook the meals. So, no more of Don Jose's Grill for me.

Soooo good! Was trying to find an authentic Mexican restaurant near the MSY airport and found this gem. Food was all delicious and fresh. We started with the Mexican starter appetizer that had a little bit of everything. Then as entrees, we had the carne asada and the carnitas (both served with grilled onions). Each plate comes with tortilla, beans, lettuce, tomato and guacamole. I also ordered the premium medium margarita. The margaritas are HUGE. A medium could easily be a large. They really give you your money's worth. We will definitely return.

Food and service have been consistently excellent lately. The variety of fresh and delicious margaritas is superb. We tried the Pineapple Mint and the Jalapeño, both so refreshing and delicious! Keep up the great work
