Just had the best iced coffee at my favorite spot! Ms. Sarita always greets you with a smile, and the selection of Mexican bread is unbeatable. Fantastic service and prices! Can't recommend this place enough!

Customer service is the worst the employees and the owner they bad and rude. The tamales are so dry and expensive and they don’t even taste like Mexican tamales the coffee is nasty burn unless they don’t know how to make coffee the tortas they are good arroz con leche to milky not sweat and not to much rice . it is what it is

Must visit if you are in the neighborhood or if you need your concha fix. My family has been coming to Don Paco Lopez for decades! We love their conchas and other Mexican sweets and breads. The staff is always really nice and helpful.

Great experience ordering the conchita bags! My company wanted some treats in the office for Hispanic Heritage Month and Don Paco (especially Anel) made it super easy to ship out and track seamlessly! Great presentation as well and my company loved them!

The conchas and all the other variety of pastries and bread they sell are delicious I have no complaints. The food however is not so great I purchased tamales from here and they were horrible! supposedly the tamales from this bakery are good but I would have to disagree no flavor, dry and the tamales were not appealing at all I purchased tamales de salsa verde and they had mozzarella cheese inside I mean come on?! No meat whatsoever I was charged $2.25 for each tamale Never purchasing tamales from here again

Beautiful little place. Employees were nice to me and the prices are cheap compared to the great quality food you get. I will come here again.

Ordered 2 tacos and 2 drinks. They charged $18 which didnt add up right. Upon approaching the owner about it, he was pretty rude. They charged me 1.50 for a slice of avocado on EACH taco! Are you kidding me!? The cost of avacado was nearly the price of a taco!!! Robbery!!!!

This place generally has hood reviews so I was convinced to come here. I'm currently living in Brooklyn from Texas & was craving pan dulce. I've had a lot of trouble finding any comparable Mexican establishments in NY but since the area was sunset I figured I had a good shot. I was sorely disappointed. This place doesn't have a big selection of pan dulcet bu it did offer my favorites : concha, cuernos, cachetada. I was even bamboozled into purchasing a big canela version of a concha.I took these home & was horrified. To begin with the concha tasted stale even though they assured me it was baked that day. It certainly tasted differently than what I'm accustomed to. The cuerno on the other hand wasn't as stake but tasted different than other cuernos I have tasted. In the same manner the cachetada or the bread with butter sugar smear tasted stale. Even the smear which is usually the best part was tasteless. Furthermore, the next day all of the bread was hard as a rock. I did ask where the owners were from because of course areas do make them differently. I for one am not a fan of D.F or surrounding areas type of style of bread , the best pan dulce I have tasted hands down are from bakers Jalisco. I've yet to find good pan dulce in Brooklyn but I'll continue on my search. I didn't try any of the food items so perhaps come here for those.

The Mexican bread is decent and over priced. On two different occasions I've gone to order a bagel with cream cheese and both were a let down. They barely put any cream cheese and the second time, they also added jelly which I didn't ask for. Basically a waste of money because my kids didn't want to eat it like that. The bacon and egg cheese is more bread than anything. You're better off going to a bodega.

I really wanted to love this place, especially because it has great energy and the staff is super friendly -- but I just didn't find it to be as good as other panaderias in the neighborhood. Both the tamales and baked goods were pretty dry and unremarkable. I know some people *swear* by their tamales, so I'll be giving them another try at some point, but have no been impressed so far.

I went to get Pan Dulce and a large container of coffee for a funeral at this food establishment. I was treated with a lot of consideration and respect from the owner/management. She was so kind to my husband and I. She offered us a free tray, cups and napkins and even gloves for the small setup for our family during my granny's wake at De Riso Funeral Home nearby. My granny loved her Mexican Conchitas and so do I, though we are Salvadorians. I will never forget the kindness the owners and the attendants showed up and I would definitely be back because everyone enjoyed the baked goods and raved about the coffee. thanks for making a difficult day easier. Me gusta mucho los tamales de aquí y el champurrado! Delicioso, pero sinceramente el servicio al cliente siempre es horrible, especialmente por el joven que está detrás del counter (area de tamales y tortas) muy rudo, no tiene paciencia , pareciera como si estuviese enojado con la vida, el tiene mucho tiempo trabajando ahí, es lo qué pasa abecés con los empleados de mucho tiempo, opinó que simplemente con sonreír sería genial, si pagamos no necesitamos que nos ignoren , que nos griten o que nos hagan gestos malos.

Love getting my morning ice coffee here and evening. Great tasting coffee, always goes great with a nice sweet bread. Huge selection of sweet bread always can switch it up. If you are having a hard time deciding ask someone for some help and they would gladly recommend something. This time I picked up a small sweet bread with coconut shavings on top with a small layer of vanilla cream filling inside, just the perfect amount. If you like vanilla cream try the churros they are great trust me. If you haven't gone next door to grab some tamales I suggest you do. My favorite are the salsa verde. . A small amount of green salsa with melted cheese inside which is amazing. They tend to get sold out so don't be disappointed if you are not able to get one. Just ask when the next batch will come out trust me so worth the wait.

Lemme say this one time, YOU HAVE TO BE THERE EARLY TO GET TAMALES. They go FAST. And it's because they are one of the best around. Don't slack, wake up and go get them. I love that the owner is always around giving a hand and helping out too. Shows alot about the guy and establishment. I can't speak for every food item here but the Mexican Bread, coffee and Tamales are worth the trip. BRING CASH for a quick and easy transaction.

I was eating my breakfast this morning when I found this hair in there salsa verde tamale. This is absolutely ridiculous and gross; I absolutely don't recommend buying here!

I'm from Mexico City and I just bought a couple of roscas de reyes for a client in NYC via phone call. The attention was excellent; the owner answered all my questions and helped me with everything, including the delivery into my client's building. She was so lovely and kind, I recommend the service. Also, my client is very happy with the rosca de reyes. She never tried it before, and she says that the bread is so good. I'm really happy with my purchase.

The Rosca de Reyes from this bakery is excellent!. The right amount of sugar and fresh/dried fruits. It's fresh and deliciousy baked every day.. The service was fantastic. I bought 3 for my clients and friends. It was a complete success of a Fiesta de Reyes.

Apologies in advance, but I gotta do it: Chili today, hot tamale. Because the Tamales here are hot, as in 5 stars worth! Moist and generously filled with either cheese, pork, or chicken, these Tamales should be on every NYC cheap eats best of list, if you ask me. Pick up a couple and you have a filling and soul-satisfying lunch for under $5. I confess I have not tried anything else on the menu because I cannot get past these. Pro Tip #1: You may want to bone up on that high school Spanish to communicate more than the basics. I STRUGGLED to convey that I wanted sides of hot red & green sauce (which I highly recommend) to go with my Tamales on a recent visit. Finally, it turned out another employee knew English. (Bless you!) Pro Tip #2: If you're feeling confident about that Spanish, you may want to call ahead to make sure Tamales are available. On one visit, we wound up waiting 40 minutes for them to make some. On another, they only had the Chicken.& Jalapeno filled option. Pro Tip #3: Albert Einstein defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." I guess hubby and I must be certifiable since we have trekked over here more than once on a Sunday for Tamales, only to find it closed. Do not make that same mistake. Pro Tip #4: For Tamales, go to the teany restaurant attached to the main Panaderia aka Bakery.

They bake all the pan dulce (sweet bread) in house, and it has that perfect bakery smell even when you walk past it outside. Definitely stop in and try the bread. It goes so well with coffee and the family who owns Don Paco Lopez has been baking pan dulce and running a bakery for generations, so they definitely know what they're doing and are really interesting to talk to about bread, Mexican culture, and the history of Sunset Park itself. My favorites are the conchas with either a hot coffee or a champurrado, which is a hot chocolate with a little bit of corn atole. If you've never had sweet bread or are just overwhelmed by the choices, ask the staff or the other customers. Then again, it's kind of hard to go wrong.

Came here in the morning to try one of their Tortas. Place is small and narrow have to squeeze through other customers thats sitting along the wall to get to the cashier and placed my order. The menu does boast a vast array of Tortas, cemitas, tamales and prices are cheaper than other places in the area. Ordered a Pork Cutlet Torta with everything, got my receipt, and waited for number to be called. Waited for over ten minutes, asked the clerk is my sandwich ready yet, lady told me "no, mamita not ready". I looked over, there's one guy making all the sandwich orders, he's hustling his way through an dozen sandwiches placed by the customer before me. Kind of felt bad for the sandwich guys as he's trying to make his way around the small kitchen space making so many orders. Finally, after 20 minutes I got my Torta. Even though its cheaper than other places, its also smaller in size. Pork Cutlet with the works tasted dry and lackluster.

This place smells so good! It's bright (inside and out), and it has a pretty big selection of goodies. There are croissants and cookies and cakes and various other treats. They also sell some candy (that children like to swipe when their parents aren't looking), corn meal, and other necessities. The cookies weren't the best I've had; they were the typical dry, good for dunking fare, but they didn't seem like there was anything special. I'll have to try a piece of cake next time. There are trays at the front with tongs (I forgot tongs and was kindly but firmly shown that tongs are necessary) that you take to the shelves in the back. They are priced reasonably. from 40 to 50 cents to a dollar, for the most part. I didn't try the eat-in side, but it looks like they are pretty popular with a variety of patrons.

If all you want is some real mexican bread .this is the best spot in nyc i been to alot of bakery's here in nyc and i must say this some real fresh warm bread .and trust me im mexican i ate the real bread from home.they been making bread for so long its no wonder they are even in the brooklyn kids museum laterz and enjoy! try the concha mmm

Best mole and tamales in NY, hands down! Take it from a native Mexican! I have just spent 2 years living in LA and I dare say that the tamales here beat anything out there--just like my grandma used to make them. And the mole is the most authentic recipe that I have experienced on this side of the border. ps. you can also find excellent seasonal breads here like Pan de Muertos and Rosca de Reyes here.

Customer service sucks! I placed an order for 30 tamales the day before picking them up. I picked them up on a Friday and placed all of the tamales in a steamer on Saturday and noticed I was 3 tamales short. I called the restaurant and received a call back from a manager. He essentially told me that I was wrong several times because his staff told him they had actually given me 2 extra for a total of 32 tamales. I reiterated that I carefully counted them as I placed them in the steamer. I had to ask for a credit for the 3 tamales I was short and begrudgingly agreed. He then told me I was undercharged because I was given hot tamales after 12:00PM which is an extra cost. I explained that when placing the order I specifically asked for cold tamales because I would be placing them in the fridge. I shared my concern that this may not be the first time I am shorted tamales since this is my 4th large order I placed but the first time counting them. He did not seem concerned and repeated that he believed I was actually given 32 tamales. I will not be giving this business any of my money.

The most amazing pan dulce out there, better than the ones I've had even while in Mexico

Run, don't walk here to get one of their tamales. They come in three flavors- Green sauce stuffed with cheese, red sauce stuffed with shredded chicken and jalapenos and mole stuffed with pork. They are all incredble. They are also insanely cheap-- just $1.50 each. Don't be turned away by the sort of dingy interior. Pretty much every customer here is Mexcian and they know their stuff. A+ on the tamales. That being said, don't bother with the Mexican pastries. They may look good, but they really don't taste good. The donuts or "donas" as they say in Mexico are pretty decent, but the rest of the pastries are NOT good. I am a HUGE fan of Mexican breads and sweets and consider myself a "concha" connoisseur. These arent sweet and just taste like dry bread. Save the calories for the tamales. Nice plus-- the owner works the cash register at the tamale and lunch counter and he is EXTREMELY nice and really gracious. The first time I came here I came to try the conchas and he went out of his way to give me one of each tamale for free so I could taste them.

So Marie was over here for a job interview and I went with her. So, while she was at the interview I had to find a place to hang out for an hour. I walked over to 4th Ave. and found Don Paco Lopez. I was happy to find it was very clean (not what I was expecting based on other stores in the neighborhood) and that there was a sitting area. I figured, I have some breakfast and ordered two tamales with coffee. I must say that if Marie gets the job here, I will have to drive her in every now and then to secretly get tamales. They were delicious and the prices are excellent. The coffee was spot on as well. I would certainly recommend the place if you are in the area. I'll have to try some the the pastries next time...

disgusting ass place. after i found chunks of hair and wire baked on the edge of my tamal i had to call the health department. try to give this place a second try but seriously will not be taking my business their and everyone at my office wont either. the cashier needs to learn how to act in cases like this or maybe pay her more so she can afford glasses to see the hair on these tamals instead of asking me "what's wrong with them" so much for that "a" I ATTACHED A PIC

This is a nice panaderia to buy Mexican sweet bread. There's also a restaurant to the side. They sell some Mexican products. In my opinion, I would say that the Mexican bread is a little more pricey than other panaderias.

Great little spot in Sunset Park. The outside is eye catching and the inside is real nice as well. Definitely bright, festive, etc. The only thing it lacks is a piñata. Los tamales son baratos. They cost 1.50 a piece and are pretty good too. I had two spicy chickens and a pork one and was satisfied for a quick lunch. The sandwiches on the other hand. Que bueno! I had a breakfast sandwich here once and was expecting typical fare when I asked for my egg and cheese. Instead I got rice, beans, jalapeños, and some guacamole as well. Serious breakfast crack.

Growing up in California and frequenting many taquerias, I stumbled upon the law of size/quality. Briefly, the law states that the quality of food in a taqueria is inversely proportional to the size of said establishment. This being my second trip for Mexican food in Sunset Park, I found the law to be in full effect. The other place I went to was small, cramped, and dimly lit compared to this place, and as such, this brighter, cleaner, more spacious establishment offered up an inferior food product. Don Paco's is actually a two for one deal, with the panaderia occupying a sliver of a store and the food serving portion occupying the slot next door, with the two connected by a generous hallway in the back. The beverage cooler was well stocked with a wide variety of Jarritos, which was nice. It turned out that when I visited, they were out of tacos and certain kinds of meat. Not sure how they were "out" of tacos but could still serve up other stuff like tortas, unless, I guess, they ran out of tortillas. But this didn't bother me, as I was looking forward to a torta anyway. They have several kinds of tortas from which to order, each stuffed with different combinations of fillings. Alternatively, you could sort of build your own. I opted for the latter option and ordered a chorizo con huevo torta with quesillo and avocado. The basic torta cost five bucks and the quesillo and avocado were about 1.50 extra. Although, on the whole, the torta was pretty good, my standards are pretty demanding of Mexican food (not that I wont eat/appreciate most Mexican food I come across, but if I'm going to praise it, it better be really damn good), and in this case, Don Paco's was not good enough to be held up for praise. They prepared the chorizo y huevo so that it came as this patty-like thing. It seems they scrambled the eggs along with tiny pieces of chorizo so that in the end it seemed more like a veggie burger patty than any huevos con chorizo I've ever encountered. For me, the allure of the scrambled egg and sausage is the combination of fluffy, moist egg punctuated with flavorful chunks of chorizo goodness. So, the "chorizo'n'egg patty" was definitely not up to snuff. Otherwise, it was a pretty standard torta. Not bad, but not particularly mind-blowing. So, on the food alone, I'd give this place a three. But, right next door is a panaderia. So, I'm bumping this up to four stars because I was able to enjoy the wonderful Mexican bakery smell as I ate my food and was able to pick up some conchas and bolillo to take home. All in all, four stars for satiating my hunger for a taste of home.

So amazing. Pan dulce are just what I remember when my dad (who is Mexican) would take me to his favorite bakery. Tamales are also very very good.

I called just to ask if they were open and when they told me it was closed early on Sunday i tried to apologize for my call and they rudely told me they were cleaning and hanged up on me/ Llame para preguntar si estaba abierto un domingo y me contestaron de una forma muy mala y sarcastica que estaba lla cerrado. Trate de disculpar por la llamada y ni me dejaron terminar me repitieron que estaba cerrado en un tono muy feo y colgaron

Wonderful baked goods, amazing prepared breakfast and lunch items, and a friendly staff make this place a must for people in the neighborhood.

I ordered tamales from Don Paco Lopez for a large party (30+ people). The bakery was very helpful in arranging the order and delivery of the tamales. The delivery man from the bakery even helped me set up my tamale stations. The tamales themselves were delicious - fresh masa with tasty pork or chicken filling. All my guests loved them!

The Rosca de Reyes is a great treat for Day of the Kings; this bakery is one of the unique Mexican bakeries in the City to go andbuy breads celebrating the Magi (day of the kings). The establishment has a warm, business sense, that caters personally to the customer. Go in and try their various breads and if you want a special order, try their Puebla tamales! You can buy them by the dozen and very competitive prices. This is a "Si" for me and I hope you can "see" what I am talking about - so drop in and have a treat!

I went back for another Vegitariano & to my dismay & horror, once I was at work & needed sustenance I discovered a huge, charbroiled, hard-as-rock I-don't-know-what contained in my sandwich. How could anybody put this in my sandwich without questioning whether it was edible, let alone tasty?? In conclusion, the food is hit or miss here, depending on who's in the kitchen.

The bread is delicious and the tamales and tortas are to die for! I have not tried the rest of the food but I come from Long Island to come and eat here every two weeks. The best in town!

Went here to get my Rosa de Reyes, it was perfect. They were super nice and helped me gt just the right size.

I'm all about the tamales here. It's my breakfast probably 2 weekend days a month and they're great. Don't sleep on the cheese. Most people I've brought there don't take me up on my cheese recommendation and they (whether the know it or not) regret it. I've also had a few of the tortas, and while good, theres other places in the neighborhood where they're better. The bakery options are good, and the churros (cream filled) are extra great if you can get them earlier in the day. Maybe I don't understand the subtleties of Mexican baked goods but a lot of the different items seem super similar to me. Everyone in there is super nice all the time. They remember how I take my coffee which is amazing considering I don't get coffee in there super often.

I wanted to like you. Your beautiful orange signs enticed me. But seriously, seriously? Someone needs to do some thinking here. You have lotsa morning traffic and walkers to the train, and you have nothing decent for breakfast? REALLY? Heating up sandwiches in the microwave? Really? No you didn't!?! You did!? Gross. Gross. Gross. People come on! Come on! I wanted to like you, I did, I really did. Or whats up with ordering ? Ever heard of a menu? Arg.
