Yelp
Always gotta preface, I've lived in California for the past 10 years and regularly had some of the best Mexican food in San Diego, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and NYC Mexican food simply doesn't compare. It's levels.
For context, the best place in NY is maybe a Top 20 spot in LA/The Valley. Had Taqueria Ramirez, bleh, extremely overhyped. Had Taqueria Coatzingo, cool. Tacos Bravos, cool. El Rey Del Taco, cool. Super Burrito claims Mission Burrito style, which excited me as a former San Franciscan, but it was meh. The rice was bland, mushy, and the beans weren't given any love. I say all that to say - If Los Tacos No 1 is the best taco I've had so far in NY, then Don Panchito is the best burrito I've had so far in NY. Not only is the size of the burrito is insane for the price, but it boasts flavors I've only experienced in the West Coast.
The Al Pastor is cooked to perfection. Even though pineapple is traditionally more mandatory for tacos, it's a nice touch to the rest of their burrito. The rice is seasoned and not mushy like Super Burrito. I also ordered bistec tacos. The taco itself was cool, but the bistec was a bit under seasoned. The Pastor Burrito is obviously the star here. Even though I live about a half hour out, this is now my new go-to spot whenever I'm craving a burrito. The food comes out fast, so you also don't have to wait long to bite into that pillowy goodness. Provecho.
