"I ordered two of Tony Ortiz’s Super Tortas after they were added to Hungry House and was thrilled: Ortiz, a Brooklyn-based chef who describes Chile Con Miel as an online platform exploring ancestral Mexican food practices through a queer lens, builds cemita-style tortas on toasted Orwashers hamburger buns piled with guacamole, lemon aioli, pickled red onion, quesillo, a smoky tomatillo-and-morita salsa, leaves of papalo, and arugula; one featured a pleasingly oily breaded chicken-thigh milanesa and the other a craggy, comparatively light fried maitake from Smallhold, and both were no less superb." - Hannah Goldfield

Service is efficient and attentive — staff use radios and take table service seriously — and the kitchen turns out shareable plates like La Pistola, fried green plantains filled with a rich seafood‑and‑cream mixture and topped with avocado.
