The Best Tacos in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Fans of this College Park taco spot would rather it remain a secret. The counter-service restaurant just beyond the East Point line is easily missed, hidden behind a Chevron station. With its storefront on Vesta Avenue, area residents swear Don Sige serves some of the best tacos in Atlanta. Try the tripe, cabeza, or lengua tacos. The restaurant serves up great tortas and quesadillas, too. There’s also a location in Forest Park." - Eater Staff

Where to Eat in East Point, College Park, and Hapeville | Eater Atlanta

"Just beyond the East Point city limits, this counter-service taco spot could easily be missed hidden behind a Chevron station. Its storefront is on Vesta Avenue rather than Main Street, and it might just serve some of the best tacos around. The corn tortillas here are a perfect balance between soft and sturdy and easily stand up to being stuffed with marinated steak or chicken. Stick to lean meats or get real with beef tripe, beef cheek, and tongue in those tacos. Call for takeout. Masks highly encouraged." - Mike Jordan

Google
Best taco and burrito I’ve ever had hands down. The food was delicious and the portions were huge for the low price. The service was really good as well and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about this restaurant.

Ron P.

Google
Stopped here before the airport with some extra time due to a delayed flight. Everyone was very friendly, the adobada quesadilla was SO good and it was relatively inexpensive. Rice and beans ❤️

Danielle P.

Google
We loved this place so much while visiting ATL that we went two days for lunch. Affordable lunch, great customer service, quick even when there is a line, and authentic tacos. Tried both the carne asada tacos and birria tacos. Both were delicious. Carne asada tacos were a little greasy but good. Their house verde sauce so yummy too!

Cold L.

Google
I heard good things about this place, but when I tried the chicken tacos they were dry. The flavor was PHENOMENAL though! Wanted to give 5 stars, but dry chicken is an automatic 1 star 😕. Will try again though based on the flavor alone.

Matthew W.

Google
Came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. They serve street tacos along with burritos, quesadillas and other traditional fare, but street tacos is the way to go. Got the carne asada and the pork and really liked both of them. Coworker got the beef cheek and absolutely loved it. Definitely not the best part of town and it's a small place with a few booths, but the food is totally worth it and the price can't be beat!

Google
It was Cinco De Mayo and our family tradition is for me to mame a full spread of tacos with all the sides and fixings. Short on time I did not have the hours to prep and make the meal. I researched dozens of restuarants in the area that had authentic Mexican cuisine. I came across Don Sige and read the reviews. My family enjoys genuine recipes so the Gringo style tacos or fast food versions would not make the cut. I saw the menu online and decided to give them a shot. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right spot. We ordered tacos with the following: Carne Asada, Lengua, Chicken, amd Beans. We had a side of birria consummé and horchata on the side. The ordering process was easy and the customer service was on point. I took the tacos home and from the very first bite everyone was quiet. All you heard was "pass the green sauce," "pass the red sauce," and "pass the consummé." Even my kids ate every morsel. No one left a crumb. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the owners and workers for FINALLY giving us authentic Mexican. Hands down, the best tacos we've had in Atlanta this far.

Michelle M

Google
The food is made when you order and the young man taking the orders had great customer service. I will be back and it's affordable good food.

Johnny P.

Google
This place was great, the food was absolutely delicious. Not in the greatest area but the restaurant as a whole was well worth it. If you want some food Hispanic food this is it! Would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
This was the first Mexican spot I tried in the East point area and I was honestly impressed. I ended up ordering a taco and burrito, cabeza and lengua and both were so good. Their burritos are amazing and I love how they change it up with mozzarella cheese on the inside along with the refried beans. Everything was flavorful and the meat was super tender. If you're looking for a more authentic style Mexican spot, definitely check this place out. I went once around lunchtime and it was pretty packed but not in an overwhelming way, which to me is always a good sign that the food is worth it. I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Melissa D.

Yelp
The food was great. We had a chicken burrito, a couple of tacos and a couple of quesadillas fritas (deep fried quesadillas). Everything was made fresh and it was served hot. Truly delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because of the state of the interior. The wall at our table was dirty; it looked like someone had spilled something dark and it splashed up onto the wall. There were other areas that looked like they could use a good cleaning. And in general, it could use a professional overhaul. Despite this, I will definitely go back when I'm in the area!
google avatar

Melanie H.

Yelp
This is a small spot with food that packs a big punch. The tacos were super good. Freshly made tortillas and well seasoned meat. Service was quick, and we were really satisfied with our order. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Arthur B.

Yelp
Consistently delicious! This is as close to authentic Mexican food that I've had in the Atlanta area. The service is always polite and even when the place is packed the food comes out pretty quickly. There are a few tables inside but Ive always gotten my food to go. My go to order is the chicken chipotle burrito that is stuffed with rice, beans, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream. The traditional tacos are also very good and come with your choice of meat with onions and cilantro on corn tortillas. More importantly the prices are very reasonable. Their sauces are also very good! If you're in the college park / east point area I definitely recommend.
google avatar

Kendall J.

Yelp
I've been looking for some authentic tacos near me and I found them! Great traditional tacos, rice and beans are tasty too. The burrito is huge! I will return. The only reason I didn't give it 5 star is the atmosphere inside and the man begging for money outside the door.
google avatar

Nataline J.

Yelp
A group of us dropped in on a Saturday night. It's casual spot with a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered 2 cabesa (beef cheek) tacos and 2 tripa (tripe) tacos on corn tortillas. The cabesa tacos were my favorite. They were incredibly tender and "buttery". The tripa tacos had a nuttiness to them. I plan to return for the beef cheek and refried beans.

Slim B.

Yelp
I honestly don't see the hype . There was nothing authentic about this place . The ingredients were not fresh. There was hardly any meat on my burrito and the grade of meat was not good. There was no flavor. They put stale lettuce inside a burrito which I have never had, completely disgusting . And it was lukewarm. Inside the place doesn't smell like Mexican food nor does it look very busy and is barely clean . It's not anything like the taquerias I'm accustomed that are truly authentic. And it costs $17!! Overpriced . I think chipotle does a better job and is closer to authentic than this place honestly and that's sad because that is an Americanized chain. Get your palates and your standards together people . Go travel and experience true authentic cuisines before you comment and praise a place that is so out of its league. Wake up Atlanta . I threw it and the nasty horchata (made in a fountain) that costs nearly $20 in the trash. Never again.

Jalina D.

Yelp
One of the best Mexican restaurants! We enjoyed our shrimp tacos and chorizo tacos. We had to come back the next day to grab tacos before flying out. When we are ever in Atlanta, we will eat there! Nice workers.

Keith M.

Yelp
This place is grossly overrated. It was rated high on Yelp so there is that unfortunate fact. The photos on Yelp? The food I got looked nothing like what I got to eat. I picked up two friends at the airport and it was a Sunday so the options were limited. All three of us HATED this place. The food really had no redeeming qualities. My friends spend half the year in Mexico so ...no this is not authentic anything. I don't know how our experience could be so different from the other posters here. But it was. Ugh!
google avatar

Leslie G.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican tacos 10 minutes away from the ATL airport. The service was fast and friendly. The place looked spacious & clean. I would
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! I really liked the birria burrito. It felt like a better deal than doing the tacos. I'm happy it comes with lime on the side. Their verde salsa is exactly the way I like it. It's more on the mild side but it has that little kick to it. The restaurant is attached to a store that you can walk into. I went during lunchtime so there was a lot of people who were there for their lunch break as well. I'm glad the cashier let me know she'll be right with me as she was busy. My only critique is that the burrito was advertised for $10.50 but it was $11. You then get charged for not paying with cash which is a bummer but it is what it is. I'd definitely come back for this burrito and to try more on the menu.
google avatar

Denise F.

Yelp
It feels homey and inviting. There's a small shared parking lot for the cluster of businesses. The menu has tons of great options for single tacos or plates. They also have fresh salsa, mild to extra spicy. I say at one of the booth tables, the area was clean. I ordered Birria Tacos, they so good with a good cheese pull. It was 3 for about $10. Will definitely return when in the area.

Alice m.

Yelp
Food is fresh and authentic! Service is fast and friendly. Food took awhile so you know it was cooked fresh since we were the first ones in. Nice and clean restaurant. Just plain good delicious Mexican food.

Linda E.

Yelp
True authentic Mexican food. Service was good. Food was fresh and hot. The wait was not long
google avatar

Corey S.

Yelp
So far this is among the best taco spots in the Atlanta area and the closest you will get to California style tacos!! Service is excellent and they accept debit and credit cards. The nearby area is a bit suspect but do not let that stop you from getting some delicious tacos. Taqueria Don Sige has earned a permanent spot on my personal Atlanta foodie list. This is not a Tex Mex place!! If you want real Mexican tacos give this place a chance!! You will not regret it!!
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
This place is very highly rated and I wanted to fall in love with it. Sadly I did not.... The first time. In any case I think we ordered poorly and I was chomping at the bit to give it another chance. I am so glad I did! Now I love the tortas, the fajitas, tacos and just about everything I have had since my first visit. Possibly just an off night or my even more likely letting my husband do the ordering. I think he might have ordered something with the word gringo in the title. (Smh) The quesadillas are huge and soooo good! I really think our first visit was an off night bc they were not friendly that time but ever since we always have fast friendly service. It's not luxurious but you don't come here for that! Excellent food! Prices! Service! Go here!
google avatar

Colleen M.

Yelp
My favorite burrito in Atlanta easily! The service is always so kind and helpful as well
google avatar

Josh C.

Yelp
From out of town and would definitely go out of my way to eat here again. Great community vibe. Staff was friendly and helpful.

ShyBaby A.

Yelp
Friendly workers & smells good inside looks like a family that runs the restaurant barrira tacos looks and smells amazing
google avatar

Chucky B.

Yelp
This spot is a hidden gem. Authentic and always fresh. Don't be fooled. You can definitely order too much if your eyes are big. The quesadillas are not small. So if you want that and something else. Just get one taco with it. Don't try to do 3 with it. No clue what I was thinking, but the food is good. It's clean. And the service is good. I'm a regular at this point.

Brandon G.

Yelp
I had the tacos and a sope with a agua fresca and it really hit the spot. The food taste good and the service was quick. I would decently visit again
google avatar

Steve V.

Yelp
We stopped by here on the way to the airport since we were delayed and it was a good choice. The location is about 5 minutes from the terminal and on the way from the north 75/85. The location is in a strip mall at the far left end. We parked and went in, and the first good sign was that there was a police officer ordering (you know the cops know the best places to eat!). There is a $5 minimum to use a card. I ordered at the counter and english was not an issue. The menu was clear and I got 5 tacos (3 carne asada and 2 chorizo), all traditional style with cilantro and onions. I also got the carne asada plate, which came with rice and beans and tortillas. The tacos were amazing as were the flour tortillas that came with the plate. The carne asada on the plate itself was a bit overcooked and chewy, but the seasoning was right on!
google avatar

SanDia B.

Yelp
Love this little joint. It's not a big restaurant. It's small and family-oriented. I always get the Birria tacos and they are delicious everytime.
google avatar

Pam K.

Yelp
This is a no frills spot serving up delicious, authentic food, fast! The service was quick and the staff was friendly and sweet. My favorite kind of tacos are lengua on fresh corn tortillas with cilantro n onion and they do them just right!

Adriana F.

Yelp
This place is a gem! I've been obsessed with their birria tacos, but just tried some new stuff today. The quesadillas fritas are really good. Also tried the sopes, tacos, and birria quesadilla. All delicious!
google avatar

Kesht R.

Yelp
Nice little spot (unassuming) off of Main Street in East Point, GA. I probably would have never stopped here or even thought to consider it. Ordered Asada Burrito with extra grilled onions and peppers. It was a large portion. Extra verde. Verde sauce was good. I don't know how I managed not to take a picture of it but took picture of the rice & beans. As you can see I started eating the rice/beans That's what happened to the burrito. Lol. I ate 1/4 of it before pulling out the parking lot. The pricing was reasonable. The food was good. I'll probably return one day and try something different.

C G.

Yelp
Their Birria tacos and burritos are absolutely phenomenal--packed with rich, savory flavors that make every bite unforgettable. I also had the Adobada burrito topped with their delicious green sauce, and it's an absolute must-try! The perfect way to wrap up the meal? A refreshing Fresca strawberry crème--smooth, sweet, and totally indulgent.
google avatar

Danny B.

Yelp
This spot still delivers great food! Haha I don't have a bunch of new photos because I always eat the food so fast. They really have great tacos which I always order. I think I'm going to order a burrito next time because those look amazing!! You really can't go wrong no matter what you order. Usually I walk out of there paying around $8-9 with a small tip. The food is fresh, the salsa is good and the staff are very friendly. If you like tacos, don't go to a run of the mill spot! Come to Don Sige and get some real Mexican street tacos! This is one of my go-to spots for sure! Just be ready for a little bit of a line around dinner and lunch time because this spot is super popular. I'd expect to wait around 15-20 minutes to get food which is not bad!
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
I ordered the carne asada burrito. I wasn't wow'd by it to be honest. It was good but nothing special. I feel like it lacked flavor. I added salsa to it but something felt like it was missing. And I also ordered a Jamaica and it was wayyyy too sweet. Easy shopping center parking
google avatar

Jeremiah L.

Yelp
Best quality and value the area! Huge burritos, open early at 10a, and still the best value in the area. This is real latin food, and it is still cheaper than Taco Bell. I'm basically obsessed with their Tripa Taco. The burritos are traditional, so basically a family sized meal wrapped in a giant flour tortilla.
google avatar

Joseph T.

Yelp
Such good late night food. We arrived at ATL in the evening with an appetite and fortunately found this gem a short ride from the airport. I had a burrito and a quesadilla; both with beef cheeks. The beef checks were ultra tender and a great value given that they were priced similarly to all of the other fillings. Everything was made on the flat top given it that great flat top sear. It was just the right amount of greasy which I appreciate for a late night bite. Staff was very polite and willing to ring us up for an extra item even though they were approaching closing time. We also had a horchata which was excellent. Flavorful and creamy. One of the best I've had.
google avatar

Netanjea R.

Yelp
I love the Shrimp burrito !! This place is always packed out and the open cooking provides the authentic fast service matched with great music & smells.
google avatar

Sheena G.

Yelp
you ever eat something so fast that when you're done you're mad at yourself?! Do yourself a favor and order 2 more than your mind tells you to. You will thank me later. So let's get into these tacos. Perfect corn tortillas. Not greasy at all and soft yet grilled. Fish and shrimp - delicious. perfect hole in the wall quality. Toppings - they know what they're doing Passionfruit juice - Mad good. nuff said. Rice and beans were so good and I don't even like refried beans. However the red and sauce they have is so good, it would probably make me eat paper. When they pack a togo plate likeyou're leaving someone's house - you know it's legit.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Okaaay, I'm back. Every since my first encounter with this location, I can't even count on two hands how many times I've been back here lol! Great taste. Never disappoints me. Wait time isn't bad. Right now they are doing take out orders only. Definitely support this place of business. I will post photos when I review again. Lady at the counter is always nice.
google avatar

Missie J.

Yelp
Coming from CA it was like a taste of home. It reminded me of a taco truck of east 14th. Anyway street tacos where good. I told my daughter who is vegan. She went and they had something for her and she loved the sauces. The inside is small and could use a refresh but it's always good when you see a restaurant full.

Anonymous A.

Yelp
Had the birria quesadilla. It was really good and very filling and a agua de piña which was also really good. Also has a side of rice and beans not so good, the beans tasted like they were from a can and the rice tasted like it was a few days old and both were warmed up in a microwave.
google avatar

Matthew V.

Yelp
Love this place... So consistent, fresh, everything cooked to order.. Tacos, burritos, and the horchata are the best... Private parking lot, plenty of space, just now allowing dining in which I'm happy for.. You can place an call in order or walk in... Good portion of food.. Super authentic!! The horchata is amazing!!! Love it
google avatar

Fatgyrl B.

Yelp
These tacos were EXTREMELY DRY! I mean extremely! They only accept CASH so! I wasted my time and money driving over here

Alexander P.

Yelp
Standard taqueria with good service and great food. the inside is nice enough to eat inside but not if you're looking for ambiance. Food is great and I've been back twice in 2 weeks! Favorite Mexican food in my area!
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
My friend used to reside near Taqueria Don Sige, so we decided to grab a quick lunch. It is an authentic yet quaint Mexican restaurant, which I definitely prefer over Tex-Mex/Americanized versions. Prior to COVID-19: There are plenty of parking spaces, as it's shared with other businesses in the complex. The restaurant holds about 8 dining tables in the main area. You simply order, and they will bring your food to you afterward. Pork Tacos (2/5): No flavor. I wouldn't order this again. Please note tacos are the traditional meat, cilantro, and onions. Lengua (Beef Tongue) Tacos (4/5): Tender like it should be. No complaints with this. I recommend. Please note tacos are the traditional meat, cilantro, and onions. Service is alright. It's more self-serve after you pay for the food. There are 2 sauces (red and green), and neither are spicy for me. During COVID-19: I noticed the menu prices increased during COVID-19, which makes sense for businesses to survive. There is only take-out at this time. The only thing enforced were 6-feet distancing. I was the only one wearing a mask when I entered and ordered my food. Steak Burrito (3/5): Everything loaded with this (tomatoes, lettuce, beans, sour cream, cheese, etc). It was just decent to me. I've had better. The guy said he would include 3 different sauces, but I only received the green sauce. Would I come back? Not really. It would not be my first choice. I'm still searching for a tastier taqueria.
google avatar

Patzy P.

Yelp
First time that I come across a Mexican food place that I like since moving here from Los Angeles (taco city) and this is good. I've tried 2 other spots since living here and it lacked flavor. I had 2 tacos de asada and 1 cabeza and a strawberry agua fresca. The tacos were so good I had to get 2 more de cabeza. Will definitely be coming back soon!
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
Been coming to this spot for about 9 years now. Great service. Tasty and quick food too. Very flavorful.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
Not much to look out from the outside but lemme just say I tore this beef birria burrito con todos up! Delicioso!
google avatar

Kiah R.

Yelp
AUTHENTIC TACOS!!!! JUST GO, I wish I could stop my review here but it has to be longer! You can call it a hole in the wall spot but it is GREAT, close to the airport, always packed for lunch, you can order to go, and everything is purely authentic goodness and so affordable! You can call ahead your order, several people do this, I usually wait for mine but let me tell you, I promise I won't steer you wrong, go get your tacos, burritos, whatever you are craving here!
google avatar

Lauren O.

Yelp
Amazing food! The prices are super affordable and the food is top tier quality! Our order: Carne Asada Tacos Pescado Tacos Chipotle Burrito Veggie Burrito Passion fruit Guava juice (100000/10)

Linda E.

Yelp
The food was really good! I had the Birria plate and a chicken taco. Tacos were authentic (just the way I like em)! The place ain't for ambiance but the service was friendly and efficient. This is now my new favorite take out taco joint. Just for comparison, I've had the "Prison" Tacos from over on Boulevard and I prefer these.
google avatar

Elissa L.

Yelp
The Birria tacos and the sopes are some of our favourite. This spot is consistent, fast and has generous portions for a great price.
google avatar

Roy L.

Yelp
Really authentic food. Great flavors. Worth the money, hands down. That said, the kitchen is ridiculously slow. Like to the point of ineptitude. You have to be able to prepare more than one order at a time. I understand that times are hard, but if you are going to serve this number of customers, show up and hire more people/buy another grill. I'm at 50 minutes on 3 basic tacos. Maybe y'all just tell them you need it in a hurry, idk. Good food, reaaaaally shitty service.

CT H.

Yelp
Iberia tacos 3 for 9$ were excellent! Can't wait to try the lengua! Easy walk in place, friendly service, and of course excellent food! A real gem after living in Texas for a decade. Nice to find some local authentic cuisine! Many people around us ordered the cheese burgers hmm.
