Yelp
Quebec City, this is the place I was told you need to check out as a vegan! We stopped by on a rainy afternoon and booked a reservation for lunch. Staff was helpful, spoke French and English, however I did have a feeling that asking questions was a bit of an annoyance to the team. Regardless, we order the donplings, mushroom risotto, curry masala. Donplings were just okay, the mushroom risotto was very delicious and savory. The curry masala was not what I was expecting whatsoever. There wasn't any broth and it was more of a plate/dish then a soupy type entry, which was pretty disappointing. I had the le Don cocktail which was delicious.
Ambiance of the restaurant was nice, it's a bit small, they play great music in my opinion, so much so I thought it was my playlist running.
But let's talk about the best part of this dining experience? The dessert, you need to get the poor man's pudding, we normally don't order dessert at restaurants but instead we find a sweets spot after, but this poor man's pudding was the best dessert that I've had on my three week stay throughout Canada. Spongy cake drenched in maple syrup and some berries, absolutely delicious!
This place was okay, it let me down a bit. Menu wasn't extravagant. Appetizers were okay, the risotto was delicious, I cleaned up my plate of the masala but it was not was I was expecting and it was disappointing. Dessert was awesome, and biggest take away is that it was really expensive. It felt I was eating at a fine dining with the prices. Would I give it another try if I were to visit Quebec City again? Absolutely.
