"Stylishly decorated with local artist Berko’s street-style graphics and chic, velvety banquettes, this vegan restaurant brings a touch of modern pop to Old Quebec. You won’t miss the meat with chef Anne Marie Grenier’s seasonally inspired dishes, heartwarming soups, and finger-licking desserts." - Allison Van Rassel

Google
We visited Old Quebec City this Christmas season (2025) from Washington DC and were so impressed by the vegan dishes (incl. gluten-free options) that Don Vegan offered much to our surprise (since we expected the region to be very meat-heavy). The recipes were well thought through and super yummy unlike restaurants where vegan options seem like an afterthought to basically check the box. Kudos to Don Vegan! 👏👏👏 We landed up eating here 4 times during our 8-day stay 😆😋😋 US certainly needs to catch-up to Canada when it comes to quality of vegan food (based on our experience at a few other restaurants too)!!

Google
LOVE, LOVE! Our vegan daughter insisted we dine here. Even my suspicious carnivore husband loved the food. Thank you for squeezing us in on NYE afternoon. Compliments to all the staff and chefs! Absolutely delicious (chefs kiss!)

Google
Food was very flavourful, filling, and inventive. Did not miss meat at all. It felt like comfort food but fresh and healthy. We had the DONplings as our app, and tantamen and gnocchi for our mains. All were great but tantamen was the star of the show, especially on a cold winter night. Will definitely be back.

Google
Definitely one of the most delicious food I’ve had. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area. Everything in the menu we tried was great, including couple of mocktails. Especial shoutout to the ‘steak’, is the closest I’ve seen match the texture of the real thing.

Google
we had an overall pleasant experience at don vegan. the ambiance on the terrace is charming, with the patio heaters ensuring a comfortable experience when it’s chilly out. the service was generally great. we started with the panko cauliflower, which was just okay: the breading had an unusual flavour—slightly nutty and reminiscent of nutritional yeast, but it left an off aftertaste. the spicy mayo that accompanied it was just okay, but not flavourful enough to mask this unpleasant aftertaste. for our mains, we had the fettuccine with mushrooms which was delicious (beware, the large portion is truly hefty); the risotto della donna which was good but nothing to write home about, and lastly, the small portion of agnolottis, which were quite savoury. indeed, while the stuffed pasta lacked a bit of flavour, the sauce more than made up for it, in all of its cheesy glory. we were disappointed that the salad accompanying the panko cauliflower was the same as that in every pasta dish, down to the dressing. while the salad itself was tasty, it felt overdone and at this price point, we expected a variety of different flavours in each dish. for dessert, we had the chocolate cake and the pouding chômeur. the former tasted more like a muffin than a decadent dessert, with the chocolate sauce ever so slightly transforming it from a breakfast to a dessert option. the latter was definitely a more indulgent, classically québécois dessert, albeit a little too sweet. we found that the cake was not left to soak up the syrup for long enough prior to serving, which made this dessert feel a little less classic. all in all, we enjoyed our food and especially the outdoor atmosphere. we felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food, but we are always happy to encourage fully vegan restaurants.

Google
We weren't looking for vegan food but we saw the great ratings and decided to try it. The staff were very welcoming and answered all our questions when trying to decide on our picks for dinner. The presentation of the food was outstanding and the taste superb! What a great dinner place in Quebec city! Highly recommend it!! We had the Fettuccine with mushroom, the Impossible Burger with the Don cake for dessert. Absolutely a fantastic experience! Merci!!

Google
Don Vegan is an absolute gem! The food was absolutely delicious - creative, fresh, and full of flavor. Every dish felt thoughtful and beautifully presented. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. And the atmosphere? Stunning! From the stylish interior to the vibrant outdoor patio, it's the kind of place you want to linger in. Easily one of the best vegan spots I've visited--highly recommend!

Google
I left my group for the day and decided to do my own dine and drink for brunch. This place was not part of the plan but I was absolutely delighted that I found it and they had room for me. It’s also difficult to find places that are open between brunch/breakfast and dinner and this place was ready for us! The service was friendly and personable. The food was incredible. The cocktails were well balanced. Overall it had a fun vibe and I am thrilled to have had the experience!

Yelp
This place is fabulous! We came to celebrate our 30th anniversary and they were so lovely to us. We had two appetizers: beet tartare and artichoke dip, both fantastic. We then had the small order of mushroom fettuccine and the squash risotto. Both were delicious. They surprised us with a beautiful dessert with a sparkler in it, that is above and beyond. If I lived here, I would be a regular.

Yelp
We had an amazing lunch here at this vegan restaurant. No one in our party was vegan per se but we lived all the food we tried. Don't miss the dumplings- I usually avoid fake meat but tree were delicious. I had the special lunch fixed menu- salad with cauliflower lentil and corn as an appetizer and gnocchi for main course- they were both great! The bathroom is a bit weird but clean and in good working order. The service was very attentive!

Yelp
We came here for lunch today, and it was amazing. I had the gnocchi and my husband had the mushroom pasta, and they were so delicious. We're going to come back during our stay. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
a m a z I n g. we're not vegan, but the menu, the quality, and overall flavor (not to mention complexity of ingredients) makes me think it's possible. waitstaff and attention to detail were top notch. cocktail menu was unique but approachable and delicious. if you're looking for a flavorful and NOT heavy fare, it's worth walking down for.

Yelp
Delicious! GLUTEN-FREE AND VEGAN REVIEW Discovered this little jewel on my last trip to Qc city. Absolutely a must for vegans! Unfortunately, misses gluten-free options. Would have loved to see some gf croutons or bread and or pasta. Yet we had a blast and one of our friend who is a meat eater loved her pasta dish. Had the burrito bowl: succesful! Great fresh ingredients and mix of tastes. Great terrasse and amazing cool decor insude. Tiny bathrooms on first floor ( no stairs)

Yelp
Great vegan restaurant, service was fast and friendly, food was excellent. We had butternut squash soup, gnocchi, cashew and artichoke dip and Thai coco soup, it was all excellent.

Yelp
If you need an excuse to visit Quebec City the Don is it! Hidden off the beaten path in Old Quebec City, the Don offers a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes. While diverse the dishes have an Asian vibe from salads, soups, noodle and rice dishes. This trip we ordered the two way risotto, Caesar Salad, and Dumplings and all of us were satisfied. The flavors were incredibly delish and one would never know that they were dairy and meat free. The staff was friendly and service was quick however the dining are is small so consider making a reservation.

Yelp
Quebec City, this is the place I was told you need to check out as a vegan! We stopped by on a rainy afternoon and booked a reservation for lunch. Staff was helpful, spoke French and English, however I did have a feeling that asking questions was a bit of an annoyance to the team. Regardless, we order the donplings, mushroom risotto, curry masala. Donplings were just okay, the mushroom risotto was very delicious and savory. The curry masala was not what I was expecting whatsoever. There wasn't any broth and it was more of a plate/dish then a soupy type entry, which was pretty disappointing. I had the le Don cocktail which was delicious. Ambiance of the restaurant was nice, it's a bit small, they play great music in my opinion, so much so I thought it was my playlist running. But let's talk about the best part of this dining experience? The dessert, you need to get the poor man's pudding, we normally don't order dessert at restaurants but instead we find a sweets spot after, but this poor man's pudding was the best dessert that I've had on my three week stay throughout Canada. Spongy cake drenched in maple syrup and some berries, absolutely delicious! This place was okay, it let me down a bit. Menu wasn't extravagant. Appetizers were okay, the risotto was delicious, I cleaned up my plate of the masala but it was not was I was expecting and it was disappointing. Dessert was awesome, and biggest take away is that it was really expensive. It felt I was eating at a fine dining with the prices. Would I give it another try if I were to visit Quebec City again? Absolutely.

Yelp
Had to try the only all-vegan restaurant in Quebec City. There is a really nice patio area out front and the inside has a cool bar vibe. I went midday when they were serving the brunch menu and had the Done Anma which is eggs benedict with chicken and veggies. It was absolutely delicious and I wished I'd had time to come back for the dinner menu before we left the city. Next time! The staff speak English and there is an English menu available.

Yelp
Vegans can be relieved to know Le Don is close to the Chateau Frontenac (a 7 minute walk) - the food is delicious (my meat eating husband loved the Risotto Don) and I loved the pasta "bolognese" with shaved almond ricotta. Service was attentive and helpful. Cake with maple drizzle was outstanding dessert. Ambiance was cozy. Highly recommend. Go! You won't regret it! (As a ps, I have eaten at many vegan restaurants in Philly, Manhattan, Connecticut and Le Don stands tall among this group)

Yelp
Serving all the vegan goodness in a city of meat and potatoes, from brunches that can satiate the hungriest of us to dinners that reunite all the dishes of the world all under a creative vegan cuisine in the heart of Quebec city.
google avatar

Katherine W.

Yelp
While visiting the city I ate here once a day. Definitely rememberable. The staff was nice. The interior art was interesting!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious pad Thai and gnocchi. The best though is the Poor Man's pudding. So delicious!!
google avatar

Ritu D.

Yelp
I made a reservation for Sunday brunch but arrived early and they were able to seat me. Their menu had so many delicious options. The pancakes were gf but I opted for the "eggs Benny" just because it was different and savoury. It was very tasty. The server was friendly and helpful and it was lovely sitting out near the fountain.

Yelp
Unreal, 3rd time at Dom V's everytime service, food, drinks & atmosphere phenomenal. Going back again to finish our vacation in couple nights. They cook all fresh with a pretty much open kitchen & cocktails are top notch. Hope they expand....

Yelp
The mushroom risotto was amazing. The server was friendly, skilled and kind. I loved the decor and mural! Recommend for vegans and GF!
google avatar

Yelp
The service was attentive and speedy! As a tourist in the area it was super helpful that the menu was in both French and English. The restaurant is a bit tight but has hip decor. The food we received was delicious. Highly recommend a risotto.

Yelp
I have a dairy allergy so I typically default to vegan options to be on the safe side. I was so happy to find a vegan place in Québec and Le Don did not disappoint!! I ate outside; the atmosphere was lovely and relaxing. I ordered the 2 squash risotto and tried my best to savor every bite- it was so delicious they also served a nice Cabernet and the wait staff were super friendly too I cant wait to re-visit.

Yelp
Loved the food that prompted us to go there twice in the same trip. I think it was the only all-Vegan restaurant in Quebec City. Visited during summer. Location is perfect - spacious street corner - good to get an outside table, enjoy live music (there was a live dj setup on Friday evening) and watch the tourist flow through old town. For food, we went with the recommendations of our server and it did not disappoint. My personal favorites were Beet tarter and gnocchi. For desert, recommend trying their Don cake - loved it!

Mark M.

Yelp
100% vegan and the chef creates very unique dishes. Don't forget about the desserts as well.

Yelp
Unfortunately my dining experience at Le Don was extremely underwhelming. The city went under curfew on NYE so a lot restaurants were either completely booked with take out orders or closed. Le Don was taking orders so we ended up grabbing take out from here. The mushroom fettuccine was really dry and missing flavor. The burrito bowl was decent and a huge portion, the rice in it was a bit dry but jackfruit was flavorful. Spaghetti carbonara was okay as was the mushroom risotto. All in all, nothing blew us away and definitely felt like everything we ordered was overpriced.
google avatar

Ella F.

Yelp
The words 'divine', 'delectable', and 'delirious' do not begin to describe the delicious experience of dining at Le Don.
google avatar

Marcela D.

Yelp
Wow. I suppose this is kind of a cliché, but as an omnivore, this place delivers. On our recent trip to Quebec City, we were looking for innovative, unique restaurants to try and Le Don (aka Don Vegan) was definitely on our list. We made reservations online about a week in advance, which I would recommend. After reading a few reviews we knew that we wanted to try the carbonada, the mushroom risotto, and the Caesar salad. We started with the Caesar salad, which was indistinguishable from the non-vegan version we know and love. It was dressed nicely and the dressing was creamy and delicious. The Spaghetti Carbonada was also very nice, and had a generous, creamy sauce coating the perfectly cooked spaghetti. However, as two people who make carbonara in the "traditional" way we could tell the difference. That's not to say it wasn't delicious, it just seemed more of an Alfredo mimic as opposed to carbonara. Finally, our most favorite dish was the mushroom risotto. It was rich and complex, and it was served with a mix of delicate greens in a sweet balsamic dressing atop the risotto. The service was wonderful, and one of the women helping us even offered to let us sit and talk for a few minutes instead of rushing us out with the bill. Those kinds of small touches are what really make these dining experiences one of a kind. We can't wait to come back to this restaurant next time we're in Quebec City!

Yelp
Amazing food, great ambience, cool drinks. Can't ask for anymore. Vegan food was totally upto the mark. I felt the prices were a little above the standard rates.

Roberta F.

Yelp
Really excellent and creative vegan food! The service was excellent. Our waitress even took the time to help us figure out where we could get vegetarian poutine, which they didn't have on the menu at Le Don. It is located right in the Old City with plenty of outside seating. We loved it!
google avatar

Mary Ann J.

Yelp
Soooooo disappointed. There weee 3 gluten free options on the main courses. 2 were risotto and 1 other. They didn't even have a GF pasta option. Even non vegan places offer more GF options. They said the sauces were pre made and couldn't be modified. The culprit is likely soy sauce vs tamari (which is GF soy sauce). So disappointed

Mme B.

Yelp
wow! excellent! We had a great time! The food was good and portions were satisfying! Nice people. Good ambience. Don't miss it : make a reservation.

Yelp
Let's start with the drinks - numerous and wonderful options for mock tails and cocktails. Cheers to that! And food is tasty, well made and in abundant portions. Service is impeccable. Can't go wrong.

Anita S.

Yelp
Cute restaurant. I had a breakfast burrito for brunch. It was delicious. I can't believe it was dairy-free. The waiter was super nice and translated the menu for me. I wish I could go for dinner and dessert. I'll just have to make another trip to Quebec!

Sarah G.

Yelp
Cool interior and great corner location. We ordered bulgogi and pad thai, and the latter was quite the standout dish. I ordered a bourbon cocktail and it tasted just like a glass of bourbon and felt light on the other elements, but still a pleasing option. Chief issue was the service - we did come with our toddler son and I don't think this place is too child friendly. No high chair and the booster looked a bit worse for the wear and was placed directly on the table by the host rather than assisting us. Our waiter was clearly a very green rookie, as he didn't know the menu at all and told my husband be couldn't sample a wine before ordering a glass. I know many places are understaffed and I'm sympathetic to that, but I think this guy needed more training before being set loose on prime time. It was our last night of vacation and it was kind of a bummer after some amazing service experiences elsewhere.

Gillian G.

Yelp
Fabulous cuisine and great service. Amazing cocktail menu, Highly recommend the beet carpaccio and the mushroom risotto ,

Nova S.

Yelp
Great fully vegan restaurant in the middle of Old Quebec! I read reviews beforehand so I knew that their spicy dishes weren't labeled as such, but I did mention to my server that I didn't want anything spicy and he made sure I got what I wanted and advised me the delicious donplings might be a little too spicy for me. I ordered and LOVED the Carbonada spaghetti and Poor Man's Pudding, a traditional Quebecois dessert gone vegan! And the water is fresh from Canada, not the tap! Just a warning that if you want to bring your kids here, the music can be explicit at times, which I wish they would change to make it a bit more family friendly.
google avatar

Xena W.

Yelp
Amazing vegan food in Quebec City! I had the spaghetti carbonada, DONplings, and gâteau Don (cheesecake). Everything tasted great. The portion of spaghetti was quite generous, and it was very creamy and rich. My father had the mushroom risotto which also seemed excellent. Service is very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Madeleine K.

Yelp
Really amazing spot! The food was delicious, I am vegetarian, but I went with a meat eating friend and we both really enjoyed it. We went at 1pm, but they were still serving the breakfast menu. We got the pancakes with fruit and the dondedict ("eggs" benedict). The pancakes were pretty good, and the fruit on top was delicious. Our favourite was the benedict though. Sooo tasty!! The service was great and the prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area, despite the food being much better quality. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Steve T.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great vegan restaurant with super friendly staff, awesome service and outdoor seating, this is the place. Very pleasant atmosphere with a great outdoor setting.

Yelp
Very good bimibap was a nice break from the cheese and bread. Nice ambience and great service. Would definitely recommend.

Zoe W.

Yelp
This is probably the best vegan restaurant I've ever been to. And I've been to a lot. The ambience is PERFECT, and as the only fully vegan restaurant in Québec City it does not disappoint. I came here two nights in a row, and it's safe to say that for the next few nights the food I had will be gracing my dreams. I didn't get a photo, but the first night we had the DONplings, the mushroom fettuccine, and the Agnolottis. I can honestly say that the mushroom fettuccine is the best pasta dish I've ever had INCLUDING dishes from when I wasn't vegan. If you're in Quebec City and you don't come here then you're missing out. The staff are so kind and pleasant and the atmosphere is immaculate. If I could give it more than five stars I would without question. Truly the restaurant of my dreams, I will 100000000% eat here again the next time I'm in Quebec City. (Lets also not forget the cocktails, which were all amazing.)
google avatar

Alan H.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Highly recommend the Spaghetti Carbonafa and Ricotta Don. Service also was great.

Heidi B.

Yelp
Discovered Le Don on Happy Cow. Plant based restaurant but doesn't advertise as vegan. Stayed in QC for 2 nights and went for dinner twice. Tough to come by vegan options in QC, but the food was so good here that we didn't feel like we were missing out. First night we shared the appetizer plate for 2 which is a nice selection of menu items. Second night was rainy and cold and the Bourguignon stew really hit the spot. Nice, covered patio area on quaint street and good drinks. Servers friendly and speak English.
google avatar

Yelp
Intimate upscale restaurant with excellent menu 100% animal free 100% delicious. Does not taste "healthy" but it is. Owner chef in kitchen and often out at tables. Reasonable prices. Remarkable tastes flavors and combinations. DONplings are tasty asian style treats with delicious dipping sauce. Breaded cauliflower good. Tostada starter (they call starters entrees) good. Main course pasta unbelievably creamy and cheesy with no cream or cheese --I had the Carbonara version. . DON risotto excellent. Poke bowl had foods together I have not had before and enjoyed. Bimbap similar and just a little spicier but nothing painfully hot. And you will not understand what a DON popsicle is till you order one. Go ahead amaze yourself and try one. New and excellent. Carnivores won't miss the absent animal in this treasury of great food. Vegetarians and Vegans will also leave happy with return reservations to taste all the menu.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Excellent food! Adorable little cafe on the square with friendly and helpful service team. We sat down for a drink and a quick bite, and the food was amazing! And here's the catch- we didn't know it was a vegan restaurant. We are all omnivores, but the food was so good and satisfying that at first we thought we were eating meat (jackfruit taco.... thought it was pulled pork!). Seriously, whatever your dietary habits, eat here!

Binoy P.

Yelp
Great vegan restaurant. The dumplings are amazing !! The service is great as well. We went there on our last night in Quebec because my wife is a vegan and she really enjoyed the food and the ambience. Liked the food even though i prefer meat . Try the dumpling, it's different and truly amazing !!

H C.

Yelp
Amazing Vegan food. Beautiful presentation. Nice staff. Even meat lovers would enjoy! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
literally had no clue it was a vegan spot until i got my food, surprisingly very good, drinks were great service was hot, GGWP

Andres E.

Yelp
Exquisite Vegan food. Must visit in the city. The beet tartare was delicious. The dumplings were unreal. Highly recommend the pasta with vegan bacon and the Don Sauté.
