Went on a Sunday. Food was good overall but there was a shrimp dish that was very salty. I ordered 3 pupusas and they forgot to give me one. They seemed really busy so I decided to get my utensils on my own. They're nice, they were just busy.

Do yourself a HUUUUGE favor and avoid the pain of one of your worst dining experiences. First I like to say that from management to servers there's no professionalism, no people's skills, no nothing. Servers take your orders like robots or worse, only robots would be faster. At our arrival to the restaurant it was practically empty. Two tables with guests. One table with employees sitting having their meals. We sat ourselves because there was no one to greet us or sit us so we sat ourselves, and waited. And waited and waited some more till my friend got up to let the personnel know that we were there in case no body noticed us sitting there and one lady said "yes I saw you, I'll be there " several minutes later she finally showed up, menus in hand she said "I'll be back to take your order" we of course knowing that we've waited about 25 months already we decided to go right ahead and order since we already knew what we wanted. She took the order and left, drinks arrived about 7-10 mnts later. 40 mints in the waiting for the food only the pupusas arrived, so we asked the lady who brought the pupusas was oblivious about the other item so she went to ask about the rest, and came back to say that it was coming "soon". 15mnts later we are justifiably upset about the delay and ask for the check but asked they that they delete the baliadas since we never received them, so just then she remembered to go back and check and and out of magic she appears with plate in hand. We went back and forth about we, wanting to pay only for the pupusas (3) my friend and I ate together and she refusing to discount the cold baliadas that arrived at the table after we had asked for the check and after we had finished the pupusas. She said that "the best she could do was to give as a container for us to take the food home". So far this place takes the #1 place in WORST RESTAURANTS in the whole DMV. Owners should reevaluate there mission and vision as a restaurant and work for it.

Staff is friendly and approachable. The pupusas are not the best - they were under done, and the filling was spilling out. La sopa de mondongo was delicious 😋 - plenty of vegetables like cabbage, carrots, string beans, and corn. Good portions of yuca, beef belly, and beef nerve. The pineapple/cantaloupe drink was also very good. There's only one genre of music, which is usually played at cantinas - musica de banda.

Google
Their food is very tasty and your food is ready quickly. I really enjoy their carne asada. I like that it tastes the same every single time. Their pupusas are always good and they have a variety of options.

This would be the second time visiting this particular location, but I have been to this restaurant chain before. The food, especially the pupusas are really good. The curtido, I’m sorry but I’m very particular, it’s ok. I like my curtido with onions and a but more flavor, this one has the cabbage and carrots, salt and pepper. As for the salsa, it’s also ok, I like more flavor too. Today was a weekday early dinner and it was practically empty so we got served quickly. Last time I was here it was a Sunday night, it was packed and we had a party of 12 and it took about 45 minutes to get our food and orders. I got the carne asada this time with two sides of salad (kept diet) and the kids the cheese pupusas with horchata. The horchata was on point! I could only drink a sip but it was really good. The carne asada, on the other hand, was flavorful, yes, but was really tough. I expected tender meat at some point but everything was like rubber. A bit disappointing but the only thing that saved it was the portion size, big enough to take some home and recook it myself. Overall, I will try this restaurant again and let you know if I recommend anything else off their menu. At this point I highly recommend their pupusas!

Google
Great service and good food, but we waited almost an hour for our order of pupusas on a decidedly not-crowded night, and they arrived somewhat lukewarm. The horchata they offer is apparently a Salvadorean version, which differs greatly from the traditional; be aware that there are peanuts in the drink, but it is quite tasty. We got a mixture of rice and corn pupusas - personally, we found the corn ones to be better. Everything is super cheap and incredibly filling! Assuming the slow arrival of food is simply part of the learning curve for a new restaurant, we'll definitely be returning.

Google
This is my favorite place to get pupusas but I am slowly starting to dislike it due to poor attention to detail when giving someone their take out order. I order take out from here constantly but I’ve learned to double check my bag before leaving. First occasion they forgot 1 pupusa which I didn’t find out until I got home, when I called they could not refund it, so I had to go back for my 1 pupusa on another day. Second occasion they forgot my pastel de carne and the curtido/sauce for the pupusas I had ordered. When I went to ask for the pastel and the curtido for my PUPUSAS they had found the box with my pastel and said they forgot to put it in the bag, then I asked the lady about the curtido and the lady told me the curtido was inside the box with the pastel (small bag of curtido just for the pastel) then I stop another young man and tell him I am missing my curtido for my PUPUSAS and he stated it’s inside my bag !!! After telling him it wasn’t he proceeded to bag me the curtido for the pastel ( the pink curtido ) . They are probably overworked or overwhelmed but not understanding me when I am speaking Spanish is ridiculous.

Google
Food was ok, I’ve had better pupusas. The customer service needs to improve. The place is very clean and atmosphere is good.

Yelp
Excelente lugar, ambiente, comida y servicio 10/10 TODO :) Las pupusas de pollo las mejores que he probado !!!! El lugar muy limpio

Yelp
Stopped by on a whim to pick up food after going grocery shopping nearby. The inside is pretty spacious, with lots of tables & an open kitchen to see your pupusas being made. Service is a little confusing. I'm pretty sure you either get table service or you can walk up to the counter to order. You'll have to ask for a menu if you order takeout in person since they don't have one to look at on display. Everyone that I interacted with was nice for the most part. The pupusas were okay. I ordered an assortment of different ones (both meat & veggie) to try a little bit of everything. The pupusas were made on the thicker side, but unfortunately you taste more of the masa & cheese rather than whatever meat/veggie it's supposed to be stuffed with. I didn't mind the rich cheesiness so much, as the curtido added a light & tangy element to it that balances everything out. The tomato sauce served with it didn't really do anything for me in terms of flavor. It was just basically tomato water, except with barely any tomato flavor. The pupusas were alright. They didn't knock my socks off, but they definitely satisfied my hunger.

Yelp
me molesta que en varias ocasiones se equivocan en mi orden y no hacen nada para solucionarlo. Y este día yo compré esto que cuesta casi 13$ y me dieron un pan nacido y un queso tan viejo

Robin D.

Yelp
I went here to get dinner for myself and my family and of course walked out with less than half of my food. I was offered a refund for the half I didn't receive yet never got my refund let alone a email or call from the owner like I was told. would have been better if I either got the food I paid for or got my money back like promised so don't hold your breath with this place you might end up passing out

Cate S.

Yelp
the cheese papusas and cheese + jalapeño papusas are delicious. next time i'll try cheese + loroco. ambiance is quiet, family restaurant. service is A+

Annette S.

Yelp
This was one of the best restaurants that I have eaten at with authentic El Salvadorian cuisine. The service was far superior to anything I've had in such a long time. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend bringing your family and friends to such an excellent restaurant. The new management has excelled in every area in terms of the food, environment and service. Come to your home kitchen away from your home kitchen.

Georgi C.

Yelp
I loved the ambience and the service. I tried Cebada and it felt so good and authentic.

Yelp
TBH... I'm in between a 2.5 and 3 stars on this one. This is a really unique place. First of all, it's probably the biggest pupuseria I've ever been in. I don't think I would describe it as a hole in the wall by any means. The branding that is done for the restaurant is really on point. I'm like... is this a chain? Every one of the waiters and kitchen staff is wearing matching branded shirts. Everything seems really put together and clean. The service was really quick and efficient. The issue for me unfortunately was the food. The pupusas tasted... just not so spectacular. At the time, I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was... but after going to La Pupuseria Familiar in Wheaton the next day; that's really when I could really just juxtapose the pupusas and come to the conclusion that the one's at Doña Cecy's are just not as top notch as I'd hope they were. The Pastelles were pretty good and definitely the best thing I had that night. The tamale was... in addition to being not so appetizing looking... not the best tamale I've ever had. I'm not sure if it's the quality of ingredients that they're using or if it's just the technique that is not terribly refined, but I've had a good deal of pupusas in my life, and these unfortunately paled in comparison. I really do hope they improve and I'd be willing to give them a second change in the future. Everyone was very nice and the restaurant is very comfortable. *Slight suggestion too: Serving pupusas in baskets make them difficult to cut and eat. I'd definitely opt for paper plates.

Joma W.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this place for the first time. From the outside, it looks small but when you go inside it's spacious. The kitchen is open you can watch them making pupusas. They have sanitizers and signs of social distancing. They are open for dine-in but we ordered to go. They have a contactless menu on each table. When I scanned the menu they had lots of options. But when we got to the cashier, she said they don't have tacos. So we only ordered two different kinds of pupusas the (2) Chicharron, Queso, Frijoles, and (2) Queso con Camaron. Both pupusas were okay nothing special about it. They make the pupusas big and thick but they put less meat. You can taste the cheese and beans more than meat. The cabbage was so good though. It was fresh and tasty. They probably have an additional homemade sauce that they mix to it. The cabbage brings out the taste of the pupusas.

Niky P.

Yelp
Ironically none of us ordered the namesake pupusas. So this review might have already might let you down there. The restaurant, very clean and spacious, is located in the Twinbrook plaza right next to Dunkin Donuts right before the Korean Grocer Lotte Market. As another reviewer mentions, the food is good but just missing something. I feel like it's the seasoning maybe even a dash more salt would have been welcome which is usually the opposite at most restaurants. The grilled chicken I had was very nicely grilled and came with yellow rice and a salad with side option of (bottled) ranch dressing. At this price point I am not expecting more, just that for anyone familiar in the Montgomery County area there are many other places to choose from that have more flavor. I've had Horchata from my favorite local taco truck and their horchata in comparison was just like drinking oatmeal milk. I threw mine mostly away. It might be powdered but seemed watery and had no hint cinnamon at all. The best part of the experience was sadly the service. Our waitress was super courteous and very attentive.

Yelp

Amie J.

Yelp
THE BEST!!!!! Service is 10/10, food is 10/10!!! Only place to come for pupusas fr fr NO CAP!!!!

MC C.

Yelp
My English speaking friends and family tried to order over the phone and walked in the store and they were ignored hung up on and never served the food they purchased. If they refuse to serve non Latinos they should put up a sign saying no gringos allowed or invest on an online ordering system. I'm embarrassed that as a native Latina known for our hospitality anyone would be treated this way.

Alex S.

Yelp
The best pupuseria in the area and all the employees are really nice and friendly. One of my favorite places in the Twinbrook area.

Oscar M.

Yelp
We visited this place on a Thursday night, we sat down and waited close to 20 minutes for the server to acknowledge us, she took our order and waiting 20 more minutes, at this point we have waited a total of 40 minutes give or take; to add injury to insult the people that came after us started getting their food right away. We told the server to cancel our order and left. We'll never visit this place again, really bad customer service.

Maria M. M.

Yelp
Wonderful pupusas! Variety of flavors. Everything on the menu is on point! Great place for families. Their churasco (grilled meats) platter and chicken platter give an abundance of meat. Soups are delicious and have ox tail & mondongo soups (weekends only). Grubhub delivery is available but best to call in for pick up if you're in the area, since delivery fee is $5.99 thru Grubhub app.

Matthew L.

Yelp
How did I not know of this place sooner? My wife and I used to go to Doña Asucena in Herdon, VA for cheap and authentic pupeserias and we were craving something similar now that we moved to Rockville, MD. This place is EVEN BETTER! We ordered one Pupusa- Revueltas de Arroz and two plates of Huevos Chorizo & Carne Deshilada. Man... everything we had was SPOT ON. We'll be back soon!

Kwang K.

Yelp
My English speaking friends and family tried to or walked in the store and they were ignored and cashier keep tell me they don't have rice and soup and didn't understand it I had to show them pic from help to get my orders in they should get some one who can speak English and Spanish so if you don't speak Spanish we could still order food from them .

Karla M.

Yelp
I love this place, I order here sometimes and I always satisfied. The food is authentic, fresh and most of all they always greet you with a smile.

Ben Y.

Yelp
Tried cheese, bean and cheese and bean, cheese &pork pupusa. Also chicken pupusa. I never had pupusa before but they are tasty. A little salty but when you eat it with the spicy slaw that comes with them it goes quite well. I think 3 or 4 is a good amount of pupusa for one person. I ordered 5 and felt it was too many. The tomato 'water/ketchup ' they offer as a condiment didn't do anything for me. The fried plantains were good. The chorizo-huevos plate was so-so.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
This place throws down! My family and I like to take out the family meal plan of a dozen pupusas and 4 sodas for $25. Dining in is nice and keep in mind pupusas are made from scratch so prepare to wait at least 20+ minutes and another 10 minutes for them to cool down! They have a pink drink (I forgot the name) that taste like bubble gum! Yummy!

Luis C.

Yelp
Very good portion and very good food. I ate in and also took home food. I had the churrasco.

J Medina V.

Yelp
This is my fav pupusas place in Maryland the food is bommmmmm.com great costumer service the restaurant is very clean the food is amazing the price are great most come

Michelle W.

Yelp
Pupusa are cheese stuffed corn tortillas (cheese is inside the dough), and optional fillings. This El Salvadoran Pupuseria is hidden in a strip mall on Viers Mill road. It just opened this week, after a long time completely renovating the interior. It looks great inside, and the pupusa aren't bad either! My husband and I ordered a variety to take home. They got a little mushy in the container on the drive home (we ordered too many, and really it would be better to eat in), but they were still great. We tried the ones with loroco, squash, chicken, and pork/beans. I was partial to the ones with veg, my husband to the ones with meat. We both agreed we should go back tomorrow to check out their breakfast or lunch... if we have finally digested everything we ate tonight! Note: They have the credit cards up and running now, so I edited this to remove the cash only bit.

Katherine L.

Yelp
No complaints. You get what you pay for. I've never dined in so my review is for take out experiences. They always get my order right and its always ready in a good amount of time. Well priced and I can usually get in and out without waiting at all.

Matthew V.

Yelp
Great place with amazing pupusas and other choices. The prices are relatively low and the food tastes great! Amazing place to grab a quick bite

Cyndia H.

Yelp
Very authentic Salvadoran food. The pupusas are awesome! The service is excellent. Many good choices in the menu.

Natalie E.

Yelp
Always hits the spot. All the dishes here are great, pupusas are delicious, and service is very friendly.

Mariana N.

Yelp
Everything was delicious, ummm om I didn't love the chicharon, everything else was super delicious. First time coming here, however I have plenty of salvadorian food experience. The staff was welcoming and always attentive. Loved everything about it!

D Z.

Yelp
This is an excellent pupuseria. Hand made to order, lots of options on the menu, including rice and corn masa. My favorites are the loroco and the pollo con queso. Facility is neat and clean. Very well kept.

Guillermo U.

Yelp
I would given 5 stars but this is the only restaurant that I have seen that charges for 5 cents for a plastic bag for carry out. I've only seen that at grocery stores. Other than that, the ladies that provide services are very pleasant Food is pretty good. I like that they keep the menu with just Salvadoran options.

Jake R.

Yelp
Very bad customer service. I order on weekly basis, but today I placed my regular a to-go order which they promised would be ready in 15 minutes, after 40 minutes, I was still waiting for my order. When my order was ready about 45 minutes later and I asked for a discount, person who took my order and asked me to pay for it TWICE while I was waiting told me " we are not authorized to give any discount " I was so disgusted that I just did not take any of the food I have ordered.... This guys need to learn something about customer service and how to value a customer, they do not deserve my business!

Marisela V.

Yelp
Ordered three breakfast dishes to go, the service was good and the cashier was really nice. I ordered 2 eggs with chorizo and 1 carne desilada. As soon as I opened the carne desilada I did not like it at all. The meat was very dry and tasteless and there was barely any eggs in it. There were barely any chorizos in the other two dishes too. Probably won't go back there again.

Lexi S.

Yelp
I love this place. I always feel out of place when I walk in to order because I don't speak Spanish. However, the queso con pollo is my favorite pupusa with rice and beans along with all the dressings on the pupusas. This is usually my go-to order and I can honestly say I get this every time. So if you are looking for something to order my suggestion is 2 - Queso con Pollo pupusas with a side of beans and rice. :) Enjoy.

Shannon S.

Yelp
Finally stopped in today for pupusas after yet another school early release day. Service was polite, pupusas came out quick, and they were piping hot when we got them home. The queso and queso with squash were both outstanding. The queso with frijoles wasn't my favorite, but still solid. (The bag of curtido was pretty good, too)

Jason A.

Yelp
A place that's a little overpriced and under portioned in it's giving, One of the worst experiences I've ever had customer service wise last night when they barely gave me any rice in my order to go I had to check it to see if not I would've been very disappointed when I got home so I asked them to put a little bit more and they decided to actually charge me for another rice which was the same amount without telling me so when I got home not only did the rice have no flavor or seasoning neither did the eggs but nevertheless this will be the last time I will go because these women are so good at charging you but so bad at making sure the customer is happy!

Priscilla E.

Yelp
Really good pupusas! Overall it was great food for a really good price! We'll be regulars for sure!

George J.

Yelp
I did a review a few weeks ago on my blog. I have to say the both times I came to eat their pupusas- fresh and hot off the grill, so to speak. It reminded me of how my mother use to make them. But wait George you're mixed and your mom is from Argentina. I had a proverbial den mother that was my nanny growing up. She was from El Salvador and used green pepper with fresh cheese to add sabor / flavor. These guys at DCP are no joke- they take their cooking serious. They even have which I never knew- rice pupusas. I will be back to try those. As for the establishment- great customer service, friendly atmosphere and awesome food selections. I need to stop my addiction - 5 cheese pupusas and 3 mixed. That will add weight to my belly. I love this joint.

Odwar B.

Yelp
The food is amazing! Customer Service is excellent!! I would definitely recommend it. authentic salvadorian food but the best part was the Christian music they play!

Gaby C.

Yelp
the restaurant looks so nice in the inside! the pupusas were very thick though i've had better but they're ok.. i probably will have something else instead of the pupusas next time. the customer service was great! very helpful. edit update: my daughter threw up all of her pupusas.. she eats a lot of pupusas and this was the first idk if it was the thickness but sadly will not be returning.

Cathy A.

Yelp
Just left here and I'm so disappointed! I've been coming here since they opened and never had a issue until today. Ordered the Carne Deshilada con Huevo and it was so tasteless I didn't get through much at all and than I get a pupusa con queso and it STUNK I mean it smelled as if the cheese had gone bad. It was so disgusting and I had cut it open to check why it smelled not only mine but my daughters frijol con queso was just as smelly and the owners son I believe it is had the nerve to say it was still being charged because it was touched! Excuse me touched or not I would hope your not saving the food and reserving it to customers maybe that's why it reeked! So disappointed I paid and left I didn't want go back and fourth. I will NOT be returning!!!!

Abner P.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite pupuseria now. Pupusas are amazing and are made quick and fresh. Service is nice, quick, and friendly. Go here ALL the time! Love it!

Katherine R.

Yelp
I absolutely love this pupuseria. Every time I have ordered something different and it always tastes amazing. This is my go to place with my fiancé. Very cheap also!

A Z.

Yelp
Food and service are great! Went there with some family and we had pupusas, pasteles, soup and sanguche de pollo. Everything was well prepared and tasty! I recommend this place.

Sophie W.

Yelp
Wonderful service! The wait staff was attentive and helpful. The food was delicious! It is very casual and probably a great place for take out. We had fun eating in (my husband, our 6 year old and ). My daughter has decided she hates pupusas, but found a salad and appetizer on the menu to enjoy. A great place for casual dining. Best pupusas in Rockville!

Yessica P.

Yelp
Delicious pupusas and nuegados. Nice and clean family environment

Team M.

Yelp
Horrible place to order food. I ordered grill breast when I returned to pick up my food. It was prepared incorrectly. It was half of a chicken with things and wings. When checking my plate I informed the staff that it was not that. Manager said he could not change my plate. That was what I ordered think that in all the restaurants if the client does not get what has been order. Staff should chance food. I just wanted the dish that I ordered. But a manager gave an attitude just for asking to chance my food plate. the customer service is very bad. not going back never again.

Zulma M.

Yelp
Food was good, service not very good. Went here with a group of coworkers, asked up front to split check to make it easier for waitress instead everything got mixed up. Ordered a traditional breakfast plate and asked for eggs on the side ended up with the traditional breakfast plate and a traditional egg platter instead of the egg as a side dish so I essentially got charged for two meals when all I asked for was a side of eggs. Waitress didn't seem interested in accepting responsibility for the mistake and I didn't feel like disputing it so I just made all the food work and paid for both meals. Wait staff needs better training on taking orders and listening to orders as they come in to prevent issues from happening. I could have easily sent the second platter back and kept the eggs as I originally asked but I did not want to waste food that was already made. Paying was a mess too. I think they've focused on making sure food is good, which I can't deny it is but have not focused enough on customer service.

Jim B.

Yelp
This is a great place for authentic Salvadorean food in a family friendly restaurant surrounded by people who know the real thing. We're not Salvadorean, but we know a thing or two about Salvadorean food. The restaurant is nicely laid out, with a visible kitchen and friendly service from servers who can answer your questions about the food and drinks. I don't think the menu offers Mexican items like tacos and burritos, which is a good sign. This restaurant is not trying to be all things to all people. We had cheese and bean pupusas (with the usual cole slaw), chicken tamales, Salvadorean style rice and sweet plantains. All very yummy and straight from the kitchen hot. The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is easy to find in a good sized strip mall with an international supermarket and several other ethnic restaurants. Highly recommended.
