The 15 Best Cocktail Bars In London

"If you’re sick of speakeasies that look like they’re owned by that bloke from Peaky Blinders, Doña is for you. The walls at this underground Dalston drinking den are carmine red, the bar is covered in pink feathers like Big Bird is living his best Barbie fantasy, and the spicy margaritas are our personal benchmark for sexy mezcal consumption. Even if you plan on coming here for one little bottle of Modello, this is a bar you’ll struggle to leave before midnight. You’re in the presence of a velvet chaise longue, it would be rude not to stay. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager

Where To Go When You Want To Dance But Hate Clubs

"This underground bar in Stoke Newington looks like the interior of our minds after watching a Sofia Coppola film—and the excellent mezcal-heavy cocktails scratch the same ‘we’ll be fun forever’ itch. As well as the velvet chaise longues and abundance of pink feathers on the bar, Doña’s live DJ sets are the perfect combination of low lighting and high-energy tracks. The schedule shimmies from cabaret performances to female-led jazz, but honestly, we’ve never had a bad night here. Only self-inflicted bad hangovers after one too many spicy margaritas come midnight.  " - rianne shlebak, jake missing, sinead cranna, daisy meager, heidi lauth beasley

London’s New Restaurant Openings

"Doña, a female-owned basement bar in Dalston, has opened a full-blown restaurant just above on the ground floor. The Latin American-inspired food will include things like chicken empanadas, cassava fries, and tamalitos.  We recently checked out Doña. Read our first thoughts here. Doña - Review - Stoke Newington - London - The Infatuation

"Doña is one of our favourite bars in London. It has all the red fringing and flair of a ‘70s Cher outfit with carmine walls, a velvet chaise longue, and an abundance of pink feathers on the horseshoe bar. But the fact that this underground Stoke Newington bar looks like the interior of our minds after watching a Sofia Coppola film is only part of the reason why we love this place. It’s a bar that happily swallows your evening whole—one expertly spicy mezcal margarita becomes 1am bottles of Modelo on the dance floor, soundtracked by something delightfully funky courtesy of the DJ. Upstairs, there’s a restaurant serving Central American dishes and it’s less red-walled play room and more mid-week catch-up over a plate of fried tortilla chips. We’re not huge fans of the food: the doñitas are overloaded with avocado and the mezcal chicken is a touch dry. So instead, go for dinner nearby then enter through the red sparkly curtain, and make your way straight down the stairs and into the arms of one of London’s best margaritas. photo credit: @pasco.photography photo credit: @pasco.photography" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Doña just opened a restaurant above the bar and OH MY LORD it’s tasty. Best empanadas, tamales and flan in London! Also, as someone who’s travelled a lot through Mexico and Central America, I’ve really missed a good bean dish. None of the Mexican/ Central American restaurants here seem to get it until now!! Doña has the most authentic and delicious beans!! The totopos and bean dip was like being back in Oaxaca. Also the margaritas were fabulous as always. I’m so happy my favourite bar now has a restaurant that’s just as delightful!!! I’ll be going back all the time now. Also they’re dog friendly for well-behaved dogs!

I have been to this place a few times now and I have nothing but amazing things to say about it. The staff are awesome and you can really tell that they are all passionate about this place. The food is delicious and the drinks are to die for (rebecca is a personal fave). They do a bunch of different events and I’ve never been disappointed - the party vibes are ongoing right until the end!!!

I've been to Doña once so far, for their Sapphic Sounds event, and it was so great. The drinks were delicious, the decor was amazing, the musical acts were great, and the feminine/queer vibe was so welcoming and energising!

Fantastic Latin American restaurant with a cosy, relaxed atmosphere and most importantly the best Latin food I have tasted in London. Very authentic, and so many delicious dishes to choose from. My personal favourite was the plantain crisps with spicy mango salad, but honestly I was glad I went with a few friends so we could order every dish and try them all - I would recommend doing the same!

Cute vibe. Very young crowd. Excellent cocktails! Nice staff. Average food. More like a vibey bar with some average snacks rather than a restaurant. Great music but The sound system is absolutely terrible. Shocking sound quality which actually hurt your ears which really meant I wouldn’t go back for an actual night out. Would just swing by for an early drink.

Amazing Mexican restaurant. The most amazing little mezcaldream has opening in Stoke Newington and I’m so happy! The owner owns the mezcal fun quirky bar downstairs and her and her business partner have decided to take on upstairs themselves and WOW. The owner is a Mezcal expert having launched ‘dangerous Don’ Mezcal which is very tasty. We had the empanadas (they have a chicken, veg or cheese option), hubby had the chicken Mezcal skewers which were to die for, and I LOVED the Doñitas - arepas filled with beans and an avo salad / so crunchy fresh and tasty! The dips! The dips were amazeballs. I almost forgot to tell you the most amazing bit - I’m gluten free (intolerant) and the whole menu is GLUTEN FREE! ⭐️ if you are reading this and need to avoid gluten you will share my excitement. There’s not a Mezcalita on the menu but make sure you ask for one as it’s the bomb! 💛

Celebrated my birthday couple weeks ago at Doña and it was great. There was plenty space for my guests, the music was good as well as the drinks and food. Thank you so much for all the support!

Charming hidden spot in the heart of Stoke Newington. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I loved the decor, you give me velvet and red lights and I'm all in (Lynchian fantasy). Mezcalita was good more on the sour than sweet side. As a Mezcal bar it would be nice if they would also do Mezcal Sour. The food was average, but didn't expected more and at least they have something to eat while you drink. Music was good! Nice place for a one or two drink stop if you're in the area.
