We enjoyed our stay at Donatella Boutique Hotel—great location, comfortable bed, beautiful design choices, and a spacious room. The bathroom had a nice double vanity and an amazing shower. Requests were handled quickly as well.
However, the execution doesn’t match the aesthetic. We found the construction quality to be pretty bad. The flooring in our room was poorly installed with separated/broken boards and visible water spots throughout. The marble at the base of the shower was cracked with pieces falling out. There was nowhere to hang our towels — where hooks should have been there were just holes in the wall. Additionally, access to our room was through a spiral staircase above the restaurant kitchen, which felt awkward and intrusive.
This isn’t a traditional hotel. It’s a few rooms above a restaurant with no lobby, reception area, or real hospitality offerings. Check-in is done at the bar, and we were hardly told anything upon arrival (no mention of breakfast or explanation on how to get in when the restaurant is closed). Additionally, noise from the kitchen and restaurant is pervasive. It feels more like renting a room above a kitchen than staying at a boutique hotel.
Great potential, but the experience doesn’t fully deliver.
