Donatella Restaurant - Review - Miami Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Donatella is calling itself the “sister property” to the Versace Mansion—although it lives three blocks away from its historic sibling. But you can still come here for black truffle cacio e pepe, rigatoni ‘nduja, and prawns. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Mariana Trabanino

Excellent Italian cuisine in a chic atmosphere - Donatella is stashed in a chic building on Collins Ave. We've had Focaccia, beautifully presented Oysters, creative artichokes and tuna tartare. For the main course, we had a delicious pasta Amalfi Limone with Caviar. Everything was meticulously plated, highly fresh & flavorful, and innovative. The service was excellent, though a bit hands-on: we were approached a little much, but this was a minor issue. The team was kind, welcoming and aware. Note that this is a pricey venue, so be prepared...

My God, what a delight to have dinner in this Italian restaurant. I’ll tell you about my experience. I live in Chicago and I went on vacation to Miami, Florida. I stayed near this restaurant and walking. I found it and decided to have dinner when I asked the girl for a table with a lot of politeness. She told me to accompany me and in her hands she had the menu. She gave her the option to choose the table she wanted and I chose the one I liked the most. Since then I felt very comfortable and pleased. After a short time the waiter introduced himself who would attend me. Very polite and very helpful. I ordered several very delicious starters. Then I ordered a pasta 🍝 with caviar, which was my favorite. Definitely at the end I finished I ordered a coffee ☕️ very delicious. I loved everything. I definitely when I return to Miami to this wonderful restaurant. The attention was excellent. The extra service.

The Donatella staff were very kind and welcoming! Santiago was tending to our table and gave lots of explanation about the restaurant, its dishes, and was kind enough to take our picture with the beautiful back drop of the restaurant’s design. We tried the Focaccia bread which was great, the grilled octopus was amazing and I’m usually not a fan of it but this one was the best I’ve tried! We had a truffle pasta and pomodoro pasta, loved them both! Also had American espressos with a delicious chocolate cake. We went home full and happy, great experience and atmosphere.

Magnificent! Since the moment I arrived to Donatella I felt a nice and sweet atmosphere. Authentic Italian staff and chef which makes the flavor of the food and service very special. I ordered the beef carpaccio and the octopus. Both dishes spectacular. The portion of the octopus is small and the carpaccio is good enough to share. As a main course the branzino and the meat were delicious. I suggest you to order one side. The pistachio ice cream is very creamy and spectacular! I can’t wait to go back to this restaurant. Special thanks for the incredible service and kindness to Ryan and Alfonso. Highly recommended.

The dining experience at this restaurant was satisfactory rather than exceptional. The octopus dish stood out as one of the highlights, while the appetizer was merely acceptable, primarily due to the overly fishy flavor of the white fish. We also sampled the lemon pasta, which was pleasantly unique, accompanied by some caviar that added an interesting touch to our meal. Unfortunately, the main course, a fish dish, was overcooked and dry, necessitating a request for a replacement, which was promptly provided and appreciated. The service was commendable, and the atmosphere was stunning—truly reminiscent of a beautiful Italian mansion. Although I cannot recall our server's name, he was from Italy and provided excellent service. I highly recommend supporting this restaurant; as it is newly opened, I believe it will continue to improve with each passing day. One thing that I have to say you need to check your bill! They make mistakes and accidentally they add items that you didn't order. It will be corrected but just double check!!!!

We enjoyed the Miami Spice menu and every dish was simply delicious. The ambiance is elegant and transports you to a charming corner of the Mediterranean. Massimiliano, the manager, made us feel truly welcome with his attentive and friendly service, making the whole experience unforgettable.

🌟 An Unforgettable Evening at Donatella From the moment we arrived (no wait at the door) we were welcomed into a beautifully appointed dining room. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, with soft lighting and tasteful Mediterranean décor creating an intimate, welcoming vibe that sets Donatella 👨‍🍳 Paolo & the Team: Service That Shines Our server, Paolo, was the absolute highlight. His menu knowledge was encyclopedic, he guided us with thoughtful suggestions, timed every course impeccably, and engaged with genuine warmth. We never felt rushed or overlooked. The rest of the staff, from hosts to bussers, mirrored Paolo’s professionalism, creating a truly five-star service experience. Here are the exact menu items we enjoyed, along with detailed tasting notes: Amalfi Limone Fettuccine (Fresh fettuccine with preserved Meyer lemon cream & Osetra caviar) A stunning plate of silky, handmade fettuccine tossed in a bright, tangy Meyer lemon crème, enriched by fragrant lemon oil. The crowning touch, velvety Osetra caviar, added briny pop, transforming the dish into a luxurious, indulgent starter. Imagine creamy textures, citrus lift, and caviar pearls that burst on your tongue. Carpaccio di Manzo Ultra-thin slices of prime beef carpaccio, drizzled in a delicate dressing and topped with paper-thin parmesan shavings. It struck a perfect balance, lush and beefy, yet refreshing. The crisp cheese added a savory crunch, elevating each tender bite. Filet Mignon The coal-grilled prime filet, finished with a rich red-wine butter, was a true standout. Each forkful revealed a beautifully charred crust and a luxurious, juicy interior. The buttery sauce added depth without overpowering the nuanced flavor of the steak, tender, velvety, and expertly seasoned. Tuna Tartare Sushi-grade tuna, diced precisely and paired with a cool crème fraîche base, bright Meyer lemon, and crispy pasta chips. The mix of silky tuna, zesty citrus, creamy tang, and crisp crunch delivered a symphony of textures and flavors, fresh, sophisticated, and refreshing. 🍋 Delizia al Limone (Lemon Dream Dessert) To finish, we indulged in the Delizia al Limone, a signature lemon dessert. This multidimensional delight featured layers of airy sponge, whipped lemon cream, and a light drizzle of lemon syrup. It was the perfect blend of sweet and tart, clean, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. Each spoonful was like a burst of sunshine, capping an already spectacular meal. 💬 Final Verdict Ambiance: Elegantly cozy, ideal for date nights or special occasions. Service: Paolo and the team delivered attentive, personalized, and seamless service from start to finish. Cuisine: From the zesty Amalfi Limone Cream to the succulent Filet Mignon and bright Delizia al Limone, each dish showcased culinary sophistication and premium ingredients. Overall: Donatella crafted a luxurious, memorable Mediterranean dining experience. Sophisticated flavors, theatrical presentations, and genuine hospitality combined to create a truly extraordinary evening. If you’re in Miami and craving a restaurant that combines elegance, impeccable service, and outstanding cuisine, Donatella is a must. We left planning our next visit, see you there!

Celebrated my birthday dinner here with a few friends. The staff was all very kind and attending and the food was delicious! We had the octo carpaccio, the salad was amazing, but the lemon pasta was absolutely divine (just add the caviar it’s so good) & a rib eye (I think). I would certainly come back again and would love to try more items on the menu!

Yelp
This restaurant is so pretty and vibey... definitely a cute date night spot or girls night dinner. We came here on a Friday night and had such a great time. I'm lactose intolerant, but our server did an amazing job recommending dishes I could enjoy and went out of his way to make sure I avoided anything with dairy. I really appreciated the extra attention. The tomato pasta was delicious, you could really taste the freshness of the garlic and tomatoes. The calamari was perfectly crispy without being greasy, and the ribeye was fatty, tender, and full of flavor. I can definitely see myself coming back here. Valet parking is available right in the front, which made the night even easier

Yelp
Personally this became my top 10 places to eat in miami!!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! The service was impeccable, we had a private party area and our server Ryan was 1000/1000. The private room made the experience so much nicer, it was better to be with the friends. It has private bathrooms. NOW THE FOOD!! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT, DELICIOUS, FLAVORFUL!! Not one thing didn't blow my mind, all ingredients imported from Italy. Eating family style is one of the best options

Yelp
* Intimate new mostly outdoor Italian Mediterranean venue in South Beach from the designers of Gianni's at the Versace mansion I am told * Great Italian chef from Naples creates excellent fresh pastas and seafood * Upscale venue with classy conversation level music for more sophisticated diners * Outstanding service with great management Donatella had only been opened a week or two at the time of our visit. Every dish, see photos, was executed perfectly. W enjoyed: Trio of Crudo, Hamachi, tuna and salmon in a perfect citrus broth $36 Kumamoto Oysters $52 per dozen, not crazy about the sauces Grilled Pear & Goat Salad, arugula walnuts, truffle honey $26 Amalfi Limone Fettucini $28 the added Osetra Caviar +$25 was a perfect addition for the Meyer lemon and creme fraiche pasta Skull Island (Australia) Prawns $55. Three beautiful giant prawns, head intact and coal grilled with a milt touch of Calabrian Chili. Kudos to our attentive waiter Gleb and Managers. Claudio and Massimilino for a must return experience.

Yelp
It was an amazing experience! Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh! The details of the garnishes and how it complimented the dishes were excellent. We shared a bunch of starters ( focaccia bread, Gambero rosso, grilled octopus, grilled artichoke and the trio crudo) and then shared the lobster pasta! And I would do it all over again. The service was great and the place is very cute, sexy and super romantic for date night. We sat inside because it was hot, but next time will be outside because the vibe is just different.

Yelp
Actual good food on ocean drive?? didnt know it existed! Beautiful mansion setting. Pretty, intimate, setting with a Dj to set the mood. The waitstaff was attentive but there wasn't enough staff so we did have to wait a while for the bill and in between courses. We started with the trio of crudo which had a combination of Hamachi, tuna, salmon, in a citrus broth with chile pepper on top. The fish was fresh and i loved the variety. the tuna was my favorite. we also had the pear and goat cheese salad. we couldnt get enough of this salad i wish there was a bigger portion. the Dijon vinaigrette was to die for. The calamari was good, and so was the aioli, but the portion was very small. For proteins we had the branzino and the ribeye, each were cooked perfectly and were very good. I liked the soft garlic that it came with to put on top. For pastas we had the rigatoni and the cacio e pepe. Both were good, but we preferred the rigatoni. For dessert we had sweet cream gelato topped with pistachios. it was delicious. The gelato wasn't super sweet, and the pistachio added a nice crunch. The perfect end to a perfect night.

Yelp
I started with the grilled octopus -- beautifully charred outside, tender inside, plated over a Taggiasche olive purée with tomato ragú and basil oil. Balanced, flavorful, and elegant. For my main, I ordered the Black Truffle Cacio e Pepe: bucatini with pecorino romano, Tellicherry peppercorns, crispy parmesan, and freshly shaved black truffle. Rich, decadent, and worth every bite. Service was excellent -- the waiter guided me through the menu and highlighted chef's specialties with genuine care. The ambiance felt like stepping into a tucked-away street in Italy, with stunning architecture and courtyard dining that transports you. The bill came to $86 including service fee -- pricey, but fair for the quality and setting. This is an upscale spot that delivers. Donatella's is a must-visit for anyone seeking elevated Italian in Miami.

Yelp
There has been a lot of press and social media for the new opening of Donatella on the beach from the former Versace Mansion team , so we decided to give it a try last Sunday with the Miami spice menu. We tried other items from the menu as well, wine, and cocktails. Firstly, the place is nice, but the glamour from pictures and articles that I anticipated is not there. Complementary table bread to start ? No !!! The miami spice menu is good. The food was very flavorful , we loved it. The steak was a very nice cut and very well prepared. The branzino was fresh and cooked to perfection. Sides ? No !! So we order the truffle cacio Pepe pasta. It was chessy at it should be, but the truffle flavor was not there, even though there were shaved truffle on the top. They informed us that there were not desserts, because the previous day dessert ran out, so they only have strawberry and pistachios ice cream . I asked if there were any other dessert from the regular menu even if we had to pay for it. No !! Dessert came and it was vanilla ice cream , with blackberries and blueberries on the top for what supposed to be strawberry, and crumble pistacho for what supposed to be the pistacho ice cream. And Also , what a surprise the next door table had regular dessert from the menu, even server kept insisting that a tart was ice cream. did anyone came to apologize for the inconvenience. No !! We started with cocktails. I was surprise they just had classic cocktails, no signature cocktails . The cocktails were good, but with an unnecessary high pricetag since ingredients were generic - but that is Miami for you. We accompanied the meal with wine. I was exciting the Miami new times considered the place had an affordable wine list. the lesss expensive was $72, and it was the same Montepulciano I got last week on total wine for $16.95. The service was Ok. Our server was in very "high" energy , sometime there, sometime no, repeating questions, and with continuous problems on the toast terminal to take the order. At least he made us laugh a lot, (but not from jokes )! A lot of room to improve , and the most important, start valuing the customer as the most important asset.

Yelp
What a beautiful delicious restaurant. We arrived early and sat tucked into a corner outside. Our server who I wish I could remember his name (Italian with a ponytail) was amazing. He offered great suggestions and it seemed like we couldn't go wrong with whatever we ordered. We started with a salad that was so delicious and the octopus which wow! I've never had octopus better than that. I got the clam linguine which was delicious and fresh and already out of the shell! They did not skimp on the clam either. My boyfriend got the veal cutlet which was also delicious. The star of the show was the pistachio gelato! Loved it and the manager was amazing as well.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful, the service was great, the food was a little disappointing, the salad was very sour and the lemon pasta was way too sour as well. The cook/chef needs to learn how to balance the acidity of the plates. But it's a great place to celebrate something or take someone on a date. We went on a Thursday and there was no live music.

Yelp
Amazing experience here at Donatella Restaurant. The food is amazing, the ambience, and the drinks. The service was beyond amazing, Paolo was phenomenal. He gave us recommendations and he was supper funny!! I'll definitely be back and it's worth the drive.

Yelp
Great experience overall, strange they decide to play such loud music ~7:45. Does not quite fit the high class dining vibe.

Yelp
Really amazing food and ambience ; the crudos where so fresh, the artichoke appetizer is definitely worth trying and the pastas remind me of my cycling days in the Dolomites; highly recommended.

Yelp
We celebrated a birthday here and they made us feel so special. The food was incredible and the service was by far the best in the city. We came in with a party of 8 and they handled our party well. Margaritas were perfect, martinis were perfect and everything in between. You'll understand why I'm using these words if you live in Miami and understand how rare it is to have quality all around. We love it here and hope that it continues to create a genuine experience for their customers because we want to come back.
