Dondi's Pizza

How is this place still open? I was not sold the first time I tried them after reopening and I thought I would give them another chance. First of all, $48 for a 14 inch pizza and wings. Second of all, after waiting over an hour for my food, they didn’t even have the decency to call me to inform me that my food was delivered to another address. I had to call them and ask where my food was, only for them to tell me that it would take another 45 minutes to get my food and nothing was going to be comped. And then they wonder why they are always dead…..

OMG I was brought back to years of my youth once I took a bite from the first slice. I grew up in Cicero and for years I would go to the Laundromat with my mom. Across the street was a pizza parlor called Roselli's Pizza. I would ask all the time, but my mother wouldn't budge and ever buy me a pizza from there until one day she finally caved. It became my go to pizza joint and even after changing owners I would still get pizza from there. THIS place Dondi's is thee closest I've tasted to that pizza. Very friendly, not a long wait, and for the quality of pizza the prices are decent. If you're ever in the neighborhood give them a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We have always liked the pizza here until we ordered the Margherita pizza. Dry as heck, very little red sauce with burnt basil. The basil should be fresh not cooked until it’s brown. Queen Margherita is turning in her grave. 🇮🇹

Dondi's for the win! This was superb. We got the Neopolitan pizza and the death by chocolate bar. A perfect Friday night meal. The quality made this seemingly simple pizza taste like a feast. I was impressed. Also, the dessert bar was absolutely to die for (see what i did there?) Dense, rich chocolate nirvana.

Got a thin crust sausage pizza and Caesar salad, both very delicious and excellent for the price we paid. The sauce and sausage on there pizza are great, I'm big about sauce. The portion for the salad was decent, I was a bit surprised. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

The pizza here is great. Crispy crust, savory sauce and tasty cheese. The staff is very cordial.

When i was younger, this place defined pizza. Its the golden staple. Always order sausage mushroom onion and green pepper.

Last week, I ordered a small stuffed pizza with four ingredients. It was "ready" when I picked it up...but suspiciously the box was not very hot to the touch. I had people waiting and we were hungry for what was usually a delicious stuffed pizza. It ended up that the pie was NOT completely baked! It tasted kinda doughy...kinda wet and heavy. the top part was not toasty and cooked well enough. It was too late to bring it back...I tried to finish it off in my own oven, but it wasn't the same. I am disappointed that you guys rushed a good thing...NOT COOL! I threw half of it away!

Poor management, lack of management, poor training. I walked and said my name, I was told it would be ready in few minutes, ok no problem I'll wait. After "30" minutes waiting Little I knew the pizzas were the whole time in the bin . Finally somebody ask my name and said there right here, after "30" minutes waiting. I Was upset and didn't wanted to wait for fresh ones , I took the cold pizzas and left very unhappy.

Good pizza. Enjoyed the Pepperoni more than the sausage but that's just my preference. Will get it again if I am in the area.

I'm picky about pizza. The thin crust sausage pizza is really tasty. The crust can be a bit like cardboard at times but overall it's a solid choice for this area.

We ordered a pizza from Dondi's tonight - the first one in several years. It was absolutely fabulous. It tasted just like the original owners. We 've been getting pizza from Dondi's since 1998. This was great. The current current owners have brought back memories of the original owner's pizza. We will be back - many times. Loved it - thank you for a delicious dinner.

Yes it's true, the best thin crust pizza in the area! Not somewhere you go to sit down and eat since there isn't any seating but great for pickup! I would recommend throwing the pizza in the oven for 15 mins before eating since it can get a bit soggy during transportation. Ordered the special, bbq, and cheese. Tons of cheese, fresh ingredients, and pizza sauce! Definitely did not disappoint!

I ordered an italian beef sandwich, and the guy who made it was a cutie, it tasted so good and it had the perfect ratios of meat and cheese and it was very delicious. He deserves a raise!

This was our first time ordering since they've reopened. We enjoyed them before and really enjoyed the pizza tonight as well. We will definitely order again. Pizza was cooked perfect, crust was crispy but chewy. We ordered online which allowed us to keep track of when the order was on the way, which I love that feature!

Looking for excellent carry out pizza? Look no further! Only a stone's throw from our house we are so happy to have Dondi's Pizza reopen! Under new ownership but with almost the same family recipe on their pizza and (just like the old days) an expanded menu! We ordered a 16" thin crust with 1/2 green olives and pickled it up (piping hot) in less than 30 minutes. Thank you Dondi's and we'll see you soon!!! Great old fashioned thin crust pizza. The pizza was still hot and was so good, they have earned my business.

I didn't even get to order my pizza tonight because the person on the phone couldn't understand my order. My order was a pizza with all pepperoni and half mushroom and half sausage. Then I was asked some follow-up questions like so what do you want on each part of the pizza. I will probably try calling again but tonight it will be Lou malnati's

Dondi's never fails. We've done delivery and pick up and the pizza has always been on time and hot. We particularly love their deep pan meat lovers pizza!

It has been a long time since I have eaten here. It used to be a staple of my childhood. After it was sold my parents had a couple of orders that were not up to par. We decided to give it a try again, and man, were we all so happy to do so. We had a veggie pizza and a sausage. The veggie was absolutely loaded with fresh spinach, tomatoes, and onions and amazing cheese. However, the sausage pizza was the star. It was SO good. I'm glad to say this is exactly what I remembered when I was little and we had it every week.

I waited 20 minutes and they don't answer the phone. So I went to Rosati in Mt Prospect. I read on the Daily Herald they are out of business since Oct 8, 2022.

Terrible lasagna. One layer of noodles, bottom only?! Watery and tasteless. Large serving, lots mozzarella, but no good.

Unpredictable. New delivery choices and standards make no business sense. Unfortunate. Ordered many times from this place, but customer loyalty seems to be a second thought.

Dondi's, you made me eat my words, as well as your delicious pizza. Since I left you a bad review, I ordered 2 more times after a cooling off period... You did not disappoint! The pizza was cut well, everything tasted great, and I still contend you've got the best sausage in the county. The girl taking my order is always pleasant, and pick up is always simple. DONDI'S IS BACK!

When my 9yr old goes back for 2nds the review is worth more than 5 stars! I got a mailer in my mailbox yesterday and thought maybe I'll hold on to this. I'm glad I did! During these times & hot days the last thing I want to do is turn on my stove. Our pizza was hot & heavy! Stuffed pizza which I have to say is way better than other pizza establishments. Customer service over the phone was great & delivery was fast which I was also surprised and glad the pizza didn't shift. The delivery guy was kind and proper to covid rules of wearing a mask. I will definitely call Dondi's Pizza in the future.

Just moved here from South Florida but I'm originally from the Midwest, Ordered some Dondi's Pizza and WOW!! I almost forgot how wonderful Chicago Style Pizza is. If you want some of the best Pizza or Appetizers this is your new pizza spot. You won't be disappointed.

Great crust and sauce but the sausage pieces were so big they almost looked like meatballs. It was a little to much sausage. They were busy but very friendly and good prices too!

Great authentic, premium Italian pizza. Great variety of pizzas and now they offer a lunch menu and by-the-slice pizza. This place has been my go to for pizza ever since I moved here and comparing it to other pizza places in chicago... Dondis beats them all. And yes I am a foodie.

I have driven past this place, but never made it in til recently. My only regret is not having stopped in sooner.. The sauce is perfection and the slices are so filling! Also, the staff is so sweet and AMAZING!!

I have been going to Dondis since it opened in 1971. That's 50 years! Last Thursday evening this all changed. After ordering my pizza I explained I had a coupon for $15.00 she said it's now $16.00. When I went to pick up she said the $15.00 coupon is no good! At no point to she say that on the phone! Then she said it was $30.00. I felt that was not reasonable. I did not accept the pizza. I called back to try and resolve this, but the manager was not cooperative. Truly disappointing. Prior to this I just talked my neighbor into trying Dondis again.

It's just good thin crust pizza. Their sausage is great but the plain cheese is top tier. Delivery is always on time and pizza is hot every time. They were hit or miss for a while but the found the magic again.

Visiting with my wife and daughter on a trip to the city. We had never tried deep dish pizza before and Dondi's did not disappoint! Our pizza came hot and we also enjoyed a side order of raviolis. Definitely a memorable dinner experience.

Just had Dondis for the first time since the summer. Very disappointed to say the least, this is the first pizza we had that had no flavor! It just wasn't good at all. We used to order over the summer bc it tasted good. Today's experience was the worse ever. Spent $35 and had to throw half of it away. We tried adding salt and hot peppers to give it some taste but it just didn't taste good. The bread was all wet and soggy, and the sausage seemed undercooked. For a place that states that it's the best pizza in town, I hardly doubt it. Pizza was also cold which explains why the wet soggy dough, all in all worse pizza in town for sure. Even if it was the last place open, will not be ordering from there again! PS. Please taste your product before selling it! Sauce has NO TASTE..

We've been ordering from Dondis for decades and clearly the new management is struggling. Quality control is terrible, 4 out of the 6 orders have been wrong and NOT one has been relatively on time.

For Random Acts of Kindness Week, we wanted to do something nice for our local police station. What speaks kindness more than food? We called Dondi's to see if they could assist with a lunch time large order knowing they open at 4pm. The lady I spoke with was amazingly accommodating and helpful. Without hesitating, they were willing and able to help us. The Manager, Domenic was so helpful and ensured our order was on time, correct and tasted wonderful. Everyone raved about how good the pizza was! We could not have been happier with the pizza AND customer service. They even called the next day to see how everything went. Will definitely be back.

Love this place, the pizza, and usually the people. Front service is great! BUT sitting in the parking spot with a view into the back and ZERO people are wearing masks. I've counted at least 5 people working back there. I'm not sure which I'd prefer for masks: the front which I interacted with for 45 seconds while paying or those breathing on my food... too much to ask for both? :( :( :(

I'm not sure we're going to be ordering from Dondi's again , sadly . We ordered two gf pizza easy cheese. One pizza was fine the other had an excessive amount of cheese , there is no way it was easy , and if it was I have no clue what a regular pizza looks like. I called and explained nicely and they said they measure the cheese out and next time to ask for super duper less cheese when I call, or something like that . So I'm supposed to know that Dondi's has a sliding scale for the cheese I've heard not so great reviews for Dondi's snd we stuck up for them , I'm not sure we'll be back again

Pizza the way you want it. I'm a thin crust with a crispy center. They do it perfectly each time. You can customize your order with all sorts of items and seasoning. Sauce is excellent flavor. Try it and you won't be disappointed.

How do you like your pizza? They have a big selection of pizzas, starting with the crust. You can get thin crust, thick crust, deep dish, and more. The best for me was the amount of cheese they use. I love cheese which is one of the reasons I like pizza. If you love cheese, you have to try this. I would easily say they use double the cheese I've gotten on most other pizza places in this area. We got half sausage and half mushroom / onion. Everything was really good. We got an order of 8 chicken wings. Most other places only let you pick one sauce flavor, but they let me pick two.... And I'm so glad they did. Normally I just get buffalo sauce, which was one of the flavors that I picked. The other sauce we picked was red chilli sauce. It was sweet and spicy and really good.... that's the only sauce I will get next time. You definitely need to try the pizza and red chilli wings.

Quick update: Dondi's Pizza is STILL the best! They are consistently fabulous. So many restaurants were great at first, but then they kind of go downhill. Not here... Every time I order from them, I know it's going to be perfect! This kind of commitment to quality and pizza perfection needs to be recognized. Thank you to the owners and staff at Dondi's!

We really enjoy ordering pizza from here on lazy days..its usually better to pick up if your close by as delivery takes a little longer.. cheese is good.. not too much sauce.. they have removed some items from there menu. I guess to foucus on the pizza.. cant go wrong with Dondis

Pros- Fast Delivery. Pizza was actually really hot when it arrived. Great tasting pizza. Good amount of toppings. Too bad this was outweighed by the cons. Cons- Got an olive pit in the pizza. Person taking the order seemed very distracted. Asked what I wanted. After I told him he asked me to say it again. He repeated the order correctly. On arrival, I got black olives instead of green. When I called to inform the store, he said he couldn't tell what kind of olives were ordered. Asked if I wanted to talk to a manager. When I said sure, I could hear him explaining to someone that I ordered one kind of olives and got the other and he can't remember which is which. Same guy can back and I was offered 20% off a future order. This is the first time I've ordered here. I told him it would be my last. I truly believe that if you are given something you did not order, it should be comped. If it needed to be on a future order, that would be understandable. I did not feel appreciated as a customer. I told the person on the phone not to add the discount to my account as I will not be ordering again. Good pizza, but mistakes, sub-par ingredients, and a disregard for customers leads to a one star review.

Well, it wasn't horrible. That's the best I can do. We ordered on a Sunday night. We wanted to do pizza and then some pasta. Nope. Nearly nothing on the menu was available. The pizza wasn't bad. Sort of greasy. It tasted like a boring pizza. The sausage was OK. The sauce was OK. If it was the only place open, sure I would order it. If I had a choice? Well, won't make that mistake again.

They don't take expired coupons... and after saving 10 menus for a free 12" pizza that cost a whole $2 to make would not take them because they said they expired WITH NO EXPERATION DATE because the printer made a mistake she said. Since the new owner took over the quality and customer satisfaction went down drastically!!! The owner has his daughter running the pizzeria with NO EXPERIENCE AND COMPASSION for customers!! I've been a customer for years and I have to say I will not be returning. The quality has gone down. Try Nino's pizza they honor expired coupons, there consistent, and the quality is A+++++. Just a FYI the owner should be involved more and not the young daughter that has no clue about running a business!!!!

They just dropped off menus, so I was driving by, I decided to try there sausage slice . Hands down the best slice ever. Knowing that slices usually aren't the same as the whole pie, I can't wait to get a pizza delivered.

When the new owners took over a couple of years ago, we were impressed that they maintained the Dondi tradition and quality. I originally gave them 5 stars. In recent weeks, I find the quality slipping. Sausage isn't as good - very salty; sauce is mediocre; crust is burnt and orders aren't correct. Change is good; however, only if it improves the product. Not the case here.

Pizza was good, However they only deliver when it's convenient for them. Sorry you just lost 2 frequent customers...

One of the best thin crust pizzas I can recall eating in my life. I always order it well done and it's continued to be cooked perfectly (generally on Sunday nights). It's bittersweet only in the sense that it's difficult for me not to order it as often as I do! Delivery is always very timely too. I can be kind of a snob when it comes to how I like my pizza, but I have never had anything close to a complaint. Definitely recommend!

I moved to Arlington Heights about 1 year ago and have been on "the quest" to find my new go to pizza place. Dondi's is the BEST! Generous ingredients and that sauce! The sauce is the bomb! Hope everyone enjoys this place as much as I do and that this review is helpful...

So sad the place that was a go to will not be anymore. Service sucks and people do not know how to take orders or talk to customers. Clearly had 10 of the menu things for 50% off a pizza but was told we never ran something like that. I even read the coupon to him, even so he was like we never did that. I know that I can read! Enjoy having fun working with this place... ps all your menus that you stated never had that deal are in my garbage and so will all others that I get as random flyers in the mailbox... good bye Dondi's. Pss. I deleted you from my phone contacts too....
