NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"After setting up shop in the East Village and Astoria, Döner Haus is bringing its German-style döner kebabs to a third location in Bayside. All of their spit-roasted meat is halal, and you can get it in box, wrap, or sandwich form, with cabbage, lettuce, and creamy garlic sauce." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Amazing food. You’re not going to another place like this and getting your sandwich STUFFED. Great vibes and staff super nice. Made my 3 little kids feel super special when they enjoyed their meals.

Came for the grand opening, well worth the wait! The kebab was SO flavorful, really stoked I don’t have to wait til I’m in Europe to get my fix anymore. You’ve definitely got a new regular customer! 😎 Update: 3rd time in 7 days! Clearly, I have a delicious problem!

It's all I could ever ask for. With just five options on the menu, it's wonderfully simple. I tried everything DönerHaus has to offer, including their two majestic sauces: "spicy" and "garlic." You literally cannot go wrong with any of the options. Each serving is approximately 6oz of meat, and you might even get a little more if you choose the "mixed" option (chicken and beef combined). The texture, flavor, juiciness, tenderness, and amount of spices are all perfectly balanced, creating a marvelous taste that will truly make you come back for more. If you're into protein and semi-healthy food, they also have a perfect option: a salad and meat box featuring incredibly fresh ingredients. Overall, I'm excited! I usually lower my expectations so I'm never disappointed, and this time I'm positively surprised and thankful that there's some really good competition now on Main Street of Bell Blvd. They're even open until 12 AM or even 2 AM, depending on the day of the week! I hope they'll stay open for a very long time and never skimp on quality just to save a few cents. My last words are: GET THE SPICY PEPPER. I know it's extra, but it's worth it at the end of the day. Oh, one more thing, as Steve Jobs would say. That is my request, as well as those of others with whom I have spoken. Add a sink for washing your hands. I know it won't be simple, but you have the perfect place. It can be quite small and flat on the wall, but we don't get sticky hands afterwards.

We were really happy to see one more halal spot on Bell Blvd. We went in on the 2nd day after their grand opening. They only had beef doner available that day. We had a doner box with over fries and salad. Doner sandwich and diner wrap. Everything was well made. It's a bit on the expensive side, but the portion size is good. We were not able to finish our order. We also tried chicken doner sandwiche, mix doner sandwich, and mix doner box on international kebab day. We also had their baklava. Overall, nothing really crazy its pretty basic, well cooked doner kebabs with good customer service.

Google
good price and quick service ! If you're hungry this is a better option than other fast food , it's healthier and has a lot of veggies. Make sure to get spicy sauce. Otherwise kinda plain.

Spot for a quick bite. Food was on the greasy side. Prefer rice but overall the presentation of the food wasn’t appealing.

Went with my husband today and got the doner box with fries while he got the doner beef sandwich. Both were amazing and exceeded our expectations!! Fries are well seasoned, thin and crispy. The bread for the sandwich was also really good. 💯 Definitely will be back and probably one of our new favorites on bell 😋😋😋

The best sandwich i’ve had ever. Got my food quick and it was the best food i’ve ate. The Doner sandwich is a MUST. Filled with beef and flavorful!!

Yelp
Amazing fast casual restaurant that has great quality doner kebabs. Everything is super fresh from the meat, bread and veggies in the menu items. Sauces compliment the food very well too. Service is very quick and staff/employees are super friendly. Restaurant itself is very well kept and beautifully designed. Highly recommend dining there for a quality and quick bite. Will be going there often!

Yelp
I ordered the doner wrap and it was absolutely delicious--plenty of meat and fresh veggies, perfectly balanced. I've also tried the sandwich at their NYC location, and the flavor was pretty much the same. It just depends on whether you prefer a wrap or sandwich bread. Personally, I found the wrap easier to eat. The place is small inside with only a few seats, so it's more of a quick-eat or takeout spot. I'll definitely be coming back for a to-go order!

Yelp
The good. Service is great. The store was very clean. Menu was simple. 5stars. The bad. Was no different than a halal cart down the block. I got the sandwich and it was soggy. Dude was shaving the meat after from what it looks like sharpening the cutter. 2 stars. Flavor wise. Passable. Didn't make me go wow. Is not up to par with anything in the area. I might have to try again when they get better.

Yelp
There are kebab joints in NY already, but this one screams out with its advertising and simple menu. I ordered their famous kebab sandwich with their chicken version via their website and the order was ready within 10 minutes of the order being made. The exterior shows off great vibes and gives a cool ambiance to Bell Blvd. Since this primarily a takeout and delivery joint, I took my kebab sandwich home for dinner. This sandwich is one of the better kebab sandwiches you can get in the five boroughs and the garlicky white sauce really gives the sandwich a kick along with the perfectly seasoned chicken kebab. I am definitely going to be ordering from them again and it's worth taking the LIRR or bus to get here.

Yelp
Read about the hype and finally decided today to try it out. Bought the beef sandwich and to my dismay it was 25% beef and 75% lettuce. I know it's the beginning of the day or was it leftover meat from yesterday? Does this sandwich look like the item from the menu? I know rent is expensive on Bell Blvd but, $13 for 1/2 a head of lettuce. No thanks.

Yelp
Meh, can't tell if it's a lettuce wrap or a doner wrap. Barely any doner in it. Real Turkish doner is so much better than this.

Yelp
Fantastic service, very good sized portions and tasted authentic. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
It's been the same sort of thing where they barely add protein . They are so stingy with the meat here

Yelp
I appreciate having this quality restaurant close to my new home. The dishes are delicious and the prices are reasonable. Their employees managed both speed and personal connection. This spot has an appealing atmosphere. Next time I'm local, this is on my list.

Yelp
The sandwhiches here are really good! They're full flavor and ingredients. They do not skimp out on the meat and vegetables at all. One sandwhich is enough for 2 meals for my husband and I. The packaging is also really nice with the paper wrap then foil wrap and then a box to keep everything neatly in place. Glad we gave this place try. We weren't sure what German kebabs would entail but were pleasantly surprised. It's like the halal cart food in sandwhich/wrap form but with more protein and veggies instead of rice.

Yelp
Good food, but service is very slow--even with online orders, there was a wait for assistance. Staff seemed disorganized and could be more efficient.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best spots for a fresh, flavorful bite. I stumbled across Doner Haus and was seriously impressed. The meat was perfectly seasoned and tender, the wraps were warm and fluffy, and the sauces brought everything together with a perfect balance of spice and creaminess. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the place was clean and well-run even during a bit of a rush. You can tell they put pride into the food and care about the customer experience. I went with the classic chicken döner wrap, but I'm definitely coming back to try the beef and maybe even one of their bowls. If you're craving something that hits all the right notes--juicy, savory, fresh, and satisfying--Doner Haus is 100% worth a visit. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Terrible from the clueless helpless staff , to the lousy disgusting food, from the minute you walk in it's a mess a bunch of kids running the show . I went in 9:30pm on Thursday the guy taking orders was a total mess , the guys making the food looked like they had no clue what they were doing and I actually took two bites and threw it out . This place will close fast and for good reason its total garbage .

Yelp
Went for their grand opening promo and it was truly a terrible experienced. Got there at about 755 and was told by someone at the end of the line that they were going to have no more food. This was really disappointing because I came out special to check the spot out and it was advertised that from 6 to 9 they were going to have a grand opening celebration with dollar sandwiches. When I walked into the store to ask what was going on the managers said pretty much said that's too bad. Crazy answer as a lot of people that came out and we're going to be disappointed. So he handed me a coupon for 10% off. I had asked if you could just honor the dollar sandwich in the future because we came well before nine to get the promotion from like a half hour away as there was traffic. He explained that they can't give dollar sandwiches every day because that's not the way it works. I said you're not giving dollar sandwiches everyday. You are honoring a promotion that you misplayed as you ran out of food for well in advance of the 9 o'clock time. Well anyways he wasn't really accommodating. And in my opinion he handled the situation terribly. It looks like they're gonna disappoint a lot of people and the whole experience left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Yelp
not bad. their sandwich bread paired really well. food took about 15-20 min to get from ordering to receiving. fries and chicken were good but the beef was a bit spongey and chewy. wish they can cook it longer so it browns more and have a more tender bite.

Yelp
Döner Haus makes food that becomes the highlight of your day. The cost is reasonable, the service reliable, and the food fantastic. The team is incredibly approachable and assists with every need. The service delivered with good timing. Really content.

Yelp
We thought we'd try this new Bayside restaurant. At first I was confused about its Halal (?) offerings because it has such an echt German name. Though it's a chain, because it has operated in the East Village and in Astoria, two generally fine food neighborhoods, we thought we'd give it a try. It was not a good experience. We ordered a chicken sandwich and a beef wrap, french fries and their "Turkish" Baklava dessert. I put "Turkish" in quotes because what they served, two dime sized pieces, bore little relation to the multi-textured, honey tasting real thing. The sandwich was in the form of a panini, which we appreciated. However, though the menu description and pictures speak of several different vegtables in the sandwich and wrap, the only thing we could see and taste was just cabbage. And it was far too much cabbage as compared to the protein. There was too much salt content in each, and so much salt content in the wrap, that we had to throw most of it away. For anyone in Bayside who likes this genre of food, as we do, there is usually a Halal truck on Bell Blvd. near the train station that serves really good food. The french fries were to my eyes and taste indistinguishable from those at McDonald. We enjoyed these more than the other food. The restaurant scene at Bayside, which has been historically pretty good, is getting even better lately as people move from Flushing to Bayside. IMO there is very little space in this neighborhood therefore for a chain serving food of this mediocrity.

Yelp
We order food to take away. 3 adults ate the one order over 2 days. There was so much delicious food!!! Plan to go again.

Fannie L.

Yelp
Ordered online for pick up, got the Döner Sandwich with feta (mixed meats) and fries. The feta was a bit salty, the meat dry and small pieces. Poor ratio, more cabbage than meat. Also only had one slice of tomato in the entire sandwich. Definite messy to eat. Fries were cold at pick up, average otherwise. If you only have one item on the menu, it should be amazing but sadly it was not.

Steve L.

Yelp
Service was awful, was really looking forward to it but their service made me lose my appetite. Was overlooked twice by 2 different employees while 2 women who thought that the world revolved around them only had full control of the kiosk for over 10 minutes. Some of us have to get back to work, utter disappointment.

Claude B.

Yelp
If you're looking for a German place this definitely is not German. It's all Muslims maybe it's Halah food.

Shabir T.

Yelp
Terrible worst Doner experience ever chicken and lamb was taste less and dry! The fries was cold, soggy tasteless. Overpriced for no reason
