Yelp
If it was up to my kids, they would eat at the same places.
My son usually wants Hmart, Paik's, or go to Mitsuwa and eat soup noodles with eggs (what he calls ramen).
My daughter would want queso.
I'm tex mexed out. I love hmart, but let's try something new dammit.
I go searching on Yelp. I decide on here. It has something for all.
Not a soul in the parking lot when we arrive.
Walking in, the lobby had a not so pleasant smell.
Luckily, the smell stayed in the lobby.
The lobster in the fish tank looked like it was on its last leg.
At this point, I was ready to turn around and walk out the door.
My husband didn't say anything, he would be the first to say "let's go"
My kids didn't say anything and they have no filter.
They would say loudly, "What the hell is that smell, mom?"
Maybe they didn't notice the smell or the lobster.
I'm sure they did.
Well, okay then. I trekked on passed the main entrance.
Got seated immediately. Greasy menus. I know one thing for sure; I'm not ordering lobster.
My opinionated kids and husband aren't bothered. Maybe it's just me.
10-15 minutes after being there, the place starts to get busy. Okay, good.
Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong seem to be the specialty because EVERY table had one or the other.
Our food was out fast. Freaky fast, like a Jimmy John's sandwich. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad.
Son got black bean noodles with seafood. Daughter got the noodle soup with seafood and vegetables. The husband and I shared the braised shrimp in chili sauce. I hope the Shrimp wasn't in the tank chillin with that lobster.
Aside from all of that, the food was good. The black bean noodles were delicious. Shrimp and squid came mixed in. Daughter's soup was also really good. I liked our meal. The shrimp wasn't dirty tasting, they tasted fresh. The chili sauce was thick and had a good flavor. It filled you up quickly.
My Korean dry cleaning man and my kids usually chat about the goodies they get from Hmart every weekend. Every time I go in to pick up or drop of clothes (usually Monday), he will ask what we ate on the weekend. I forgot the name of this place and just told him a place on Emerald St. He mentioned this restaurant and said he really liked it. I guess I chose well. I'll be back to try the seafood noodle soup.
Leanin towards 3, but I'll give it a 4.
