We stayed for 3 nights at this boutique hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Plenty of positives - the hotel situated in a good location between Syracuse and Noto. You definitely need a car to explore which wasn't an issue for us at all.
The hotel ground is beautiful and offers tranquility. It has its own fruit and vegetable garden and plenty of olive trees. (They make their own excellent olive oil). We spent time each day by the two swimming pools and it was very relaxing.
Our suite is beautifully decorated with quality furniture, a four poster bed and nice furnishings. We also had our own private garden which led out directly to the bio lake. The toiletries provided shouts luxury and quality. Alot of effort has gone into the room and its amenities.
All the staff were friendly, professional and attentive. We liked the WhatsApp system to ask for anything we needed help with and the staff responded very quickly with our every question/ request. A special mention to Moreno who has been super helpful from the point of booking, arranging a surprise for my partner, and making great recommendations. He genuinely wanted us to have the best experience during our stay and we were grateful for that. Sara who greeted us on our first day was also very welcoming.
Breakfast is a continental buffet with cooked eggs on request. The buffet is small but the quality of every product is excellent - fruit and veg from their own garden (I loved the kamquat jam, homemade from kamquat they grown), locally sourced produce, and fantastic selection of honey. The service was impeccable by the same lovely lady everyday. She was very attentive and friendly.
The two things that detracted from our experience were:
1) On our first night, we dined in the hotel restaurant as a special treat for my partner’s birthday. While the service was very good, the food unfortunately did not meet our expectations, especially given the Michelin-star-level prices. During our time in Sicily, we enjoyed far better meals at half the cost, which made this experience feel like a real disappointment.
2) During our stay, I ordered an ice-cream while we were lounging by the pool. The small ice-cream itself was €12, but I was surprised to see an additional €10 service charge added — almost the same as the cost of the item. We were told at check-in that there was a €10 "room service" charge, but I didn’t realise this also applied to the pool. I would have happily walked to the pool bar (which I actually did to place the order) and waited, if it meant avoiding such a charge. A percentage-based service fee would feel more reasonable than a flat €10, especially for small items. I think this is important for future guests to be aware of.
