Boston’s Great Molasses Flood Is Getting the Off-Broadway Musical Treatment - Eater Boston

"Over in East Boston, fans of Donna’s Restaurant, a popular diner, were shocked to hear that the owner has been charged with sales tax evasion to the tune of $60,000 and will be arraigned in April." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

The best gluten free pancakes I’ve ever had! Fast, great service, and the murals are great. Edit: visited after 8 months, gluten free pancakes were still amazing. Classic dinner feel at the restaurant.

Donna's is a very homey & family oriented mainly breakfast diner with lots of regular visitors. Don't expect Kona Coffee or Earl Grey or other foo-foo teas. But I'm giving them a 5 star because of their delicious food. That was the best sausage pepper and eggs scramble I'd ever had & believe me, I'm an egg dish aficionado. It was yummy! So was the French Toast. Excellent!

I arrived right at 6:00am and the restaurant was pretty empty, a few parties started to trickle in around 6:30 but it stayed slow for the most part. The most striking thing about this diner is the large murals of Aladdin and the Little Mermaid on the walls. There aren't any booths, but there is hightop seating. I would say that if your party is larger than 4, it would probably be difficult to stay together if the place was busy. There were maybe 3 tables that had six chairs. It's not a large restaurant. I'm not sure if it was because it was slow but the food came out super quick and was hot and ready to eat all at once. I noticed that the 5 other parties also received their food pretty fast and the waitress made rounds in between to refill everyone's coffee around the diner. The staff was very friendly greeting and treating everyone as if they were long time friends. I had corned beef hash with eggs and potatoes and it was good to eat, nothing phenomenal or groundbreaking. It was just a good meal. If you're looking for a friendly diner for breakfast it's a nice spot. Nothing above and beyond, but great for the atmosphere and the service.

Expensive, like $$ , definitely not $. They included the coffee in the price, for some reason. Two cups of coffee limit Cannot split a table more than two cards To go orders extra .50 Orders less than $5 is extra .50 It is a lot to ask while the prices are already high. Taste? 2 out of 4 dishes is good while other two, meh. Coffee, also not the best. No selection for toast, no avocados... Plenty of space in the dining area, a lot of servers, somewhat scarce parking as it's shared with other businesses around. Bonus; check the photos of the restroom! Two bowls, no separator.

This restaurant had much of a southern feel to it, in which reminded me of home. It’s a store front, spacious restaurant with a variety of foods. Lots of the food choices are classic style. I ordered French toast and hash browns. The French toast was covered in egg coating which added to the density of the toast. The hash browns were fair and filling.

2 stars only because the customer service was friendly and welcoming. The food was not impressive. Corned beef was salty and soggy. Meat omelette was disappointing because it was so plain. A couple strips of bacon and ham and nothing more.

It's your atypical greasy-spoon breakfast place. They've been around for years and you get what you expect when you walk in. It's very basic and simple cafeteria style ambiance. They have all of your basic breakfast specials with potatoes and toast.

Great breakfast in one of East Boston’s iconic location for breakfast and lunch. Service is friendly and ambience is All-American with walls adorned with Disney themed murals.
