The 16 Hottest New Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

"Dons brings dressed-up diner fare to First Street, with a sleek, laid-back sheen that is equally conducive to pancakes or brandy Old-Fashioneds. You can have eggs all day or boozy milkshakes; biscuits and gravy or a fried bologna. There is also a signature burger that underscores just how far we are from your standard diner: Angus patty, aged cheddar, charred onion, demi-glace, and a brioche bun. Add foie truffle butter to really make it count." - Todd Lazarski

Very cool and unique place! 80's retro themed speakeasy type place that has delicious cheese butter burgers and boozey ice cream drinks that are spectacular! They also have an old fashioned cocktail drink served inside of a crock pot that was very unique. Definitely a must stop place!

This place is a lot of fun—like a nostalgic time capsule for parents! Kids around 10 and up would probably enjoy it too. It could also make for a great date night spot, especially with their creative and fun cocktail menu. The milkshakes are fantastic, and the atmosphere has a lively, retro diner vibe. The food is solid, with good burgers and chicken sandwiches, though don’t expect many (if any) healthy options. It’s all about the classic comfort food experience here. One thing to note: there's a 20% service fee automatically added to the bill. Since it goes directly to the staff, we didn’t mind—it’s about what we would’ve tipped anyway. However, the table next to us seemed a bit put off by it, so it’s good to be aware ahead of time.

We loved our first visit! Despite the warm room, we had a great experience (the bar is air conditioned while the main area is not). Staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was fun and such an awesome vibe! Food options were great brunch/bar food. The Bowser Brownie shake was heavenly. The naughty brunch burger was delicious! We will definitely go back!

First time at Dons TV repair restaurant and let me tell you it is absolutely fun. It's perfect for a nice 80's throw back date or just fun time with the kids. From their amazing burgers to their fruity pebble waffles this is by far an amazing family friendly experience. The service was fast, simple and they made sure we knew/understood what food there was and more. Thank you to my amazing server Conner.Don's is definitely on top of my list of places to go back to. Oh before I finish make sure to ask for an "ice cold 7up" before you head on back.

Google
It is a very unique place! The atmosphere is neat, with several old tube TV's playing some of the old classics on VHS. The food was good and came out quickly! I had the salted caramel milk shake, it was excellent! Pricess are a little high, but you do get a neat experience there. Also they do add on a 20% tip. I wasn't informed until we asked for the check. All in all it was a good place. We will be back!

Book ahead and get the password-Don’s is worth it. Don’s TV & Repair Speakeasy nails the vibe from the moment you walk in-retro TV repair shop meets cozy brunch hangout. It was packed when we arrived, but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our big group, and it paid off. The menu has range-everything from breakfast favorites to a solid fish fry. The shakes were a standout for me, and the rest of the crew couldn’t stop talking about the burgers. The decor is a love letter to analog nostalgia: vintage tapes, old TVs, franchise merch, and even video games scattered about. It’s not just a themed spot—the food lives up to the aesthetic. Definitely going back next time, but with a reservation. Trust me-this one’s not a hidden gem anymore.

Google
It was cute inside! I enjoyed the old TV theme and gremlins all over. We were seated fast. I got a salted caramel milkshake which I enjoyed! I got the butter burger and to me it was a normal burger. Nothing special! $11 for a small burger was disappointing. All sides were extra. The onion rings and cheese curds were really good. For 4 of us it was over $150. I'm not sure if it's worth going back. Definitely a place to check out at least once!

Arrived at 4:15 pm for a friday evening Birthday group of five. Reserved our group thru Opentable reservation app. The restaurant was already full. We made it right under the $5 old fashioned drink happy hour. Decent drink for the price. Simple limited menu burgers, breakfast items, fried chicken, and a variety of appetizers. We order 4 appetizers tater tots, bourbon donutholes, 2 onions rings. The donut holes were comped for birthday 🎂. Our group ordered 2 naughty smash burgers, 1 Don's fried chicken sandwich, 2 friday fish fry, 4 sides apps and a couple custom milk shakes, one was a boozy shake. We were pleased with all the food. Bill with tip averaged $40 per person including 1 alcoholic drink for each of us. Atmosphere was fun, very pop culture 60s-90s. A place to take 1st timers or visitors. Service was good. Noise could be a factor for some.

Yelp
Such a cool hidden gem! Love the adventure to get in. The food was good and the ice cream shakes were instagram-worthy. Our server was great and the place has such a unique vibe- unlike anywhere else! Definitely will be back for 10 cent martini night! Highly recommend visiting (if you can get in that is)

Yelp
Loved it! Quirky, funky, and quite tasty. Burgers, fries, and shakes. That is the basics... A few beers, boozy shakes, and some sides round out the menu. Burgers are old school diner style. I added tomatoes and pickles. So good... Cheese curds were great as were the fries. Ambiance is super fun. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Loved it!

Yelp
We did not try the food, we did however have a drink at this super fun place!! Had no idea it was a secret entrance kind of thing when we walked in. The host asked if we knew the password and we were clueless. She gave us a great hint and we were on our way in!! The decor is so fun and very nostalgic if you're of that age group! Love the gremlins!!!! And all the old tvs! My boyfriend had the Fix Me Old Fashioned, which was great! I don't really like old fashion drinks but this was new and exciting. I tried "I'd just as soon Kiss A Wookie" which came in a cute glass and I slurped it up it so was yummy!! The vibe was so on point. The other people in the place were just as excited as we were to be there. This is a place everyone should give a shot!

Yelp
Yes, it's different. It starts the moment you walk in. They make you wait 10-15 minutes on purpose...it's supposed to be part of the charm. They have a few arcade games in their entryway and kindly give you a dollars with of quarters to play. My son and I dueled it out in a game of Mrs. Pac Man. When they're ready to seat you, they ask for the secret password. My wife overheard someone else give it while we were playing the game, otherwise some other hijinks would have ensued, I'm sure. The restaurant is small, and I was surprised by a lack of people on a Saturday. The main area where we sat featured tv's in back of us with a row of VHS cassettes that could be played. I popped in 'Trading Places' but the picture was so bad that it could have sent folks into epileptic fit. Food-wise, well..not the best. They have a handful of burgers, a couple chicken sandwiches, and several breakfast combos. None of those sounded tempting so I got a fancy caramel milkshake and some donuts as an app for all of us to share. In back of us was a bar which was Star Wars themed...very cool. The kids who work here are nice and try to keep things fun. Beyond the cheap thrills of the place though, I dare say a return trip would not be in the cards. One thing to watch out for, they automatically add a 'service fee' to your bill. THIS IS THE TIP, so be mindful not to give another 15%+ unless you really want to be crazy generous. Cheers.

Yelp
First time dining in, and went for brunch. The lobby is fun, and so is the staff. Our server, Leah, was great! My friend and I shared the onion rings, which were nicely seasoned and had a good ratio of batter to onion. She enjoyed the Scrambler with sausage, but she was expecting scrambled eggs or a skillet, and the was more like a frittata. I ordered the Birria Breakfast Burrito and a side of horseradish potato pancakes. The burrito is stuffed with beef birria, scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, tater tots, and served with a beef broth and sour cream. It was delicious and massive! I ate half and enjoyed the other half for lunch the next day. The horseradish potato pancakes were well-balanced and cooked perfectly. They were also a great pairing for the the beef birria. I also ordered the Game Boy boozy shake with lots of rums in it, and it was also delicious! I recommend a visit, if you haven't been. The password is easy to find, but I'm not saying it.

Yelp
This place is not worth remembering the "secret password" to get in. Both food & cocktails were expensive and mediocre at very best. It is a tiny space and you are basically sitting right next to the people in the table net to you. We had the pleasure of having a server's butt up against our table our entire meal while she chatted with her friends at the table next to us. Our service was horrible. We waited about 10 minutes in the cramped "storefront" with no place to sit to be let in and get to our table and then waiting about another 10-15 for someone to take our drink orders. Plates and menus were never cleared from the table. There are many other spots to eat at in Milwaukee...choose any one of those.

Yelp
We came here as a party of 8, and it was everybody's first time, so I made sure to make reservations. Joyfully, we got seated at the bar in the Star Wars room (yep, I'm a nerd, it's me!). We took advantage of the free burger with any drink special, and ordered two orders of tots to share. Drinks were all over the place, from simple iced tea to a Game Boy and Yoshi's Cookie, to my Margarita in a cactus, and my husband's Old Fashioned in a small crock pot, just to name a few! We all opted for Naughty Angel burgers and modified them to our own particular tastes. We were celebrating a marriage and a small family reunion, and our server brought us complimentary baskets of donut holes with a delicious dipping sauce to help us celebrate....very sweet and appreciated! Now, typically, food experiences just don't stick with me. However, the burger I ate here was one of the BEST burgers I have ever had. I was talking about it for months afterward! I would love to try other menu items, the drinks in particular! Service was great and the place is interesting to walk around. I slept on this place, but I'm glad I finally made it in! 3/2025

Yelp
My husband's friend took us here and the place is so cute. Very retro and classy. People there are so friendly and welcoming. We sat at the booth and ordered drinks. We wanted to try the martini specials which is 10 cents! But we need to order an entree to get that deal. After ordering, we were told we can't order food and eat at the bar. We felt bad because we didn't know that. They said they will accept it this time. Next time we won't do that again. I'm glad we tried the food because it was delicious. The milkshake is so good. Brings back childhood memories. The martinis wasn't a hit for me though haha I love the lemon flavor the best. I will come back here again. 80-90s theme is the best! Please don't change.

Yelp
Very fun and kitschy place especially to take kids, more so to show them what the 80's and 90's felt like (since it's sooo long ago lol). As Xennial adults, being in a space like that felt a little bit like Saved By the Bell meets Back to the Future and Star Wars and Nintendo. I made reservations on opentable so it was easy to get a spot. It was fun to see my kid say the password to enter (you can find it after you make your reservations or probably online). It's a small and tight space so with a stroller it was a tight squeeze but we made it work. Without reservations it could get a bit hard to get service. We saw a table of people leave after not being attended to after a while but I think they had a time limit (I only know this because we were trying to possibly get another table next to us for a different party but they said we had to be out by 6pm if so and it was already 5:20pm and they would not have gotten there in time). ANYWAY, the menu, especially the milkshake menu, is extensive. If you come here and don't get a milkshake I don't know what to tell you. That is the highlight of this place in terms of food. The non milkshake food was not the best. I was excited to get the fish fry after experiencing a mid fish fry at a more historic place but the fish fry here was too fishy, though it was less soggy than the other place. I'm happy that my son, who is allergic to eggs, dairy, nuts, was able to eat the chicken tenders (though he is usually fine with chicken tenders at restaurants - seems like they probably all source it from the same place). My husband got the butter burger and I took a bite and it was definitely not to my taste but it could have been because I never had a butter burger before. Still, I prefer a cheese burger. The butter in this had a strange aftertaste. The drink I got (the homicidal maniac) was like drinking syrup, though it came in a fun cup. Long story short: Milkshake 100% Food 30% Cocktails 30% Ambiance 100% Service 60% Instagram worthy 100%

Yelp
This was a great date night spot!! Very cool ambiance and decor! If you are a fan of any of the big 80s movies and franchises, this is def your vibe. Low red light inside was also cool and had a great feel. Service was fast and on point, everything came out quick and the server was very attentive. The shake we had was very very good, one of the better shakes i've had in the MKE area. The other food was good but seemed to miss the mark in terms of like an elevated dining experience. I would put it also like a step above fast food if I am being honest. But, it isn't overpriced and priced around there.

Yelp
What a fun little place with a great Nostalgic vibe this hidden spot is. One you enter you go into a waiting area that has arcade games and other nostalgic items which took me back to my childhood. When you are first walk in you have to use the secret password "ice cold 7up". Then you'll get to enter the secret door into the restaurant. Be sure to watch your step as it would be easy the trip and fall. Certainly a hazard. We sat at the bar, but there are several half booth and the other half chair. There is also another area with a bar. Just outside of the room there is a tab pulling machine for purchasing if you wish. We ordered serval items off the menu to try: Hot Chicken Sammy my son added it needed extra ranch, Birria Breakfast Burrito was delicious perfect amount of all ingredients that made this item the best menu item we ordered, the Naughty Brunch Burger was tasty. In addition we ordered the Bourbon donuts I felt were ok ... my hubby said good. Last, we order the Browsers Brownie Shake. Our server was kind and knowledgeable. Our food came out fast and was hot. We were not told that the bill already includes the gratuity is included at 20%. If not looking at the bill you'd over tip. No difference in price of the shake with or without alcohol. That's a bummer, but it was tasty. I'll end with, just as there is a secret door to enter though, they're is a servers exit. A must check out for an 80s and 90s baby.

Yelp
They have several smash burgers that taste great. Wonderful retro decor, wait staff are awesome and the shakes are out of this world! You'll be glad you went.

Yelp
Visited this spot for a late lunch on a Saturday at 2pm and it was still busy! I loved the atmosphere, the retro games and decor was a hit with my bf's family and they enjoyed the thrill of having to say the super secret password. We all really loved the cheese sauce! I would've loved to have had slightly bigger portions but the food was decently filling. The crockpot old fashioned was quite funny and we enjoyed how fun it looked. Overall a great experience and would be back again! Need to try their milkshakes next time

Yelp
This was such a fun experience! We made our reservation and got a secret word to get through to the speakeasy. It was decorated in diner fashion and dim, colorful lights. Our food came really fast and we topped it off with sharing a milkshake! The burger was so good, I recommend getting the works on it. Next time, I want to get the ice cream sandwich instead of the brownie because it was super rich but good. Our host made the experience so fun and we got to roll dice for a possible free meal and got $10 off our next visit. We will be back!

Yelp
What a cool concept for a restaurant! If you didn't know about Don's TV & Repair, you would probably drive right by it. We were visiting Wisconsin and heard about this place from my cousin, and we knew we had to try it! It says "TV Repair" outside, and you enter from the street and are in a small room that looks like a lobby of a tv shop mixed with some 80's themed video games. You give a "secret phrase" and you enter through the 7-Up door....speakeasy style. (It would have seemed more secret if the waiting area wasn't full of other customers.) We went on a Wednesday because it was 99 cents burger night. Yes, the burgers are 99 cents; but you pay anywhere from $.50 to $1 to add toppings like cheese, tomatoes, and pickles. I was surprised that the burger was really big and quite good, and it came out pretty fast. We also ordered a side of cheesy fries which were very cheesy with melty cheese sauce. They have lots of boozy and regular drink choices, including boozy milkshakes and all-day mimosas. I had the Homicidal Maniac which came in a Wednesday Adams mug. It was made with Jack Daniels Apple, amaretto, lemonade, and gummy worms......good but tart. My husband had the Yoshi's Cookie which was a ginormous cookie dough shake made with Captain Morgan and cookie dough ice cream.....topped off with a full sized Chipwhich! And it was just $14. We had a great server, Emily, and enjoyed our meal. Everything is 80's themed with diner-style tables. I was really impressed that the restaurant called me about 5 minutes after walking out to let me know that they'd found an earring that I must have dropped. If you are ever visiting Milwaukee and want a unique dining experience at very reasonable prices; I highly recommend Don's TV Repair! It's a fun place and one of a kind! Also kid friendly!

Yelp
The unique setting and decor is what makes this place. Think of The Safehouse (downtown Milwaukee) but in a retro diner setting. The employees are always polite and the food is decent enough. I suggest sitting in the back bar area with a group for an even more unique experience. The crock pot wisconsin old fashioned is also hilariously delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
Had reservations for 7:15 and got in a little early. There were other groups waiting for their times, and even some people who just showed up, but no luck with openings. It was busy and took a few minutes to connect with our server. She was efficient, but not especially friendly. Did a good job to help us out with ordering. Wasn't sure about whether we could customize a regular boozy shake, but we got that worked out. Our group had a couple of burgers and chicken sandwich. The hamburgers were just okay. A little on the dry side. The chicken sandwich was better. Fries and onion rings were hot and plentiful. Finished the meal with a Yoshi's Cookie Shake, and swapped the Rum for Peanut Butter Whiskey. That was the highlight of the meal. The place is fun, and the prices are decent.
google avatar

Lori L.

Yelp
Do they make the cheesy tater tots with crack? Seriously I ordered one basket for our nine person group and we ordered three more baskets. Our waitress said it's the homemade cheese that's a special recipe. Try these and you will thank me. Yes you can get $.10 martinis when you order an entree. You are limited to 3. They come out quick at first and then slow down which is to be expected. You can choose from vodka or gin, regular or dirty. Most people got the signature burger but I opted for the chicken sandwich which I would not get again. The chicken was thin and overcooked with sweet coleslaw. Next time I'll stick to the burger. Sometimes you shouldn't veer away from one of a restaurant's signature dishes. Now for the best part - the ambience. You walk into what seems like a retro TV repair place with 80's video games. Once you tell them the secret code they open the door to the restaurant. There are old school TV's everywhere that are blasting videos or static. The back room is epic as a Star Wars themed room. Did I also tell you that the pricing is reasonable? They do add 18% to the check and tell you that tipping on top is optional. Not a fan of this practice but still you will want to tip on top because the pricing is awesome. Definitely get here! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I am not going to post pics other than the exterior photo because it's such a fun surprise to walk in and uncover a nostalgia explosion! The vibe here is super cool, and service was great. My friend and I came here during a girls' weekend in Milwaukee. So glad we did. Their "Liquid Repairs" drink list is fun and affordable. I did the Tommy Cod, and it was delicious. For eats, I opted for the bacon burger. My friend did the breakfast that included horseradish potato pancakes, and I will admit, they are an acquired taste. Neither of us really liked them. They seem to have a lot of specials, depending on day and time. I highly recommend reservations, as there was a twosome who came in just before we did, and they were told it would be a 15-minute wait without reservations. Normally not shocking, but there were not many people in the eating space (three tables at 9:45 am), so I was surprised that the twosome was not able to enter without waiting 15 minutes, which they opted not to do.

Yelp
The food was good, with vegetarian options. Great milkshakes and bloody Mary's! Very cool vibe!
google avatar

Tristin R.

Yelp
Food was great diner style quick fresh and favorable. We had burger, cheese curds fries and chipotle chicken wrap. I had the bloody Mary, husband got brownie sundae. Also the tatie tots and scrambler weee cooked to perfection. Our server was spot on and even though she was busy she did her best to keep up. And the atmosphere was exactly what we need to be brought back to our childhood what fun it was!!

Yelp
A super fun experience, Don's TV & Repair, is like a time warp to those days when 80s music played on the radio, you watched movies from Blockbuster on your VCR, and you brought a date to get burgers and shakes. These are no ordinary shakes, you can get boozy shakes, and this ain't no ordinary TV repair shop-- that tricky Don has a hidden bar/speakeasy out the back of his repair shop. Damn, Don, whatchu doin? Naughty burgers were tasty, tots were crunchy and can't-stop-eating and the milk shake was enormous and garnished with a ding-dong. My table mate wished the shake was icy and cold. This was novel, this was a good time. The 80s tunes were fun to listen to, and Sailor Moon was on the big screen and Raiders of the Lost Ark was playing on a tv/vcr combo. The good old days? To some, but fun to tune in for a while to blasts from the past.

Yelp
Fruity pebble waffles were SO GOOD and I'm not a huge fruity pebbles or waffle person. Tasted like mochi almost. Such a cute place, love the theme, and the cups/glasses for the drinks. Super cute, my friend brought me when I was visiting and it was totally worth it. The birria breakfast burrito was a lil soggy and so hard to eat but filling/yummy nonetheless
google avatar

Tina P.

Yelp
Would have never guessed! Highly recommend! We built our own shakes. Gold mine! Highly unique - throwback! 20% automatic gratuity was a little weird.

Yelp
We did not have reservations as we never expected needing reservations at noon on a Saturday, but apparently we did. Given I was in town for the holidays, and my family and friends drove from various areas of town to meet me there, we asked if there was any way to accommodate our part of 5. The staff member at the front mention there was no availability until 2 days later, but then another staff member mentioned that there was some bar seating but only 4. We said, we would make it work even though we were a party of 5. They said they would page us in 45 min. We went shopping next door and after 45 min returned but never received a text. When we were finally seated there was ample seating in the restaurant, so I'm confused if there were just numerous no shows or just a timing situation. The decorations are very nostalgic; however, I feel the staff could do a much better job playing up the vibe. We didn't know there was a passcode, but the hostess, guided us to the correct answers and let us in. The menu is entertaining; however, high in sugar and not necessarily unique or home made. Lots of processed ingredients. I could see this be a fun entertaining place to take kids.

Yelp
Don's had a really fun atmosphere! We went for burgers & drinks (the spicy bloody is Spicy!!) It's a fun old school diner type of spot so if you're looking for something fun & different to do for dinner - it's a cool spot! Secret password at the door for entry!

Yelp
5 Stars for being something different and fun! The "Store Front" looks like an old time TV Repair Shop. But with the right password, the 7up Machine Door opens up and leads you into a hidden bar and restaurant. Maybe they could have done a better job of selling the "secret", but I'm sure by now the workers are kind of over it! But, it was still new to us, so we had some fun with it. Food and drinks are maybe not 5 star... but not bad either. I had fish and it came with horseradish potato pancakes, which were interesting. Not sure if I lived them, but I gave them a try! I'd give this meal an "average" rating but my wife's smash burger was pretty good. Tater Tot appetizer was also really good. Drinks were really interesting! Like a Old Fashion served in a real Crockpot and Boozy Shakes, so that was fun! Loved our waitress and the restaurant had lots of interesting things on the walls, including working VCR's with movies and old time sit-coms in the movie screen. Put this down as a "must try" in Milwaukee. Not as cool as the Safe House but still fun.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
I spent $70 on 2 breakfasts, due to the added $10 service charge plus the tip. I understand the logic behind service charges, but our meals were not worth $70. The Bloody Mary was absolutely undrinkable -- at least the bartender subbed spotted cow for the chaser bc Hamms is also unbearable to most beer drinkers. Please get rid of that bloody mix! The food was filling, but nothing to write home about. Maybe this is a place JUST to get ice cream drinks. The ambience itself is fun and nostalgic.

Yelp
Unfortunately, we were a little bummed by this experience. We were excited to stop into Dons for a post dinner drink/shake. We didn't have a reservation, and we're told that they were not taking walks ins, it was about 8:30. Nbd...it started pouring so we hung out for about 15 minutes to let the rain pass. While waiting, I decided to check online and they had a ton of open rezos. We made one at 9pm. We checked back in with the hostess and she went to check on our table, said it would be a few minutes. Another party walked in without a reservation, I let them know to just check online and make one real quick. They made theirs at 915, and were seated before us. We thought this was a little rude, considering our reservation was earlier and we'd been waiting already. We were seated right afterwards and the place was DEAD. Like literally one other table. We were so thrown off that they wouldn't take walk ins and made us wait for a table. Our server was great, super attentive and nice, and the drinks we had were pretty good as well. Finally, we were a bit put off by the bill. We were provided the bill and an employee (not our waitress) explained the charges to us, and that they included an 18% service fee but if they did a great job an additional tip would be appreciated...which was totally fine, we love that they explained it instead of just expecting us to notice. But she then continued to talk about how hard they were working, how long they had been there, and how deserving they were and it just got a bit off putting. Overall, the vibes just felt off from when we got in there though - maybe they were just hoping no one else would come in? Overall, the concept is cool, as is the ambiance of the room. Drinks were also good. We didn't get food, so can't review that, but it looked good. I'm not sure we would come back tbh, maybe if someone else wanted to go, but I probably wouldn't be the one suggesting. Maybe it was an off night, and I'd go back in open minded.

Yelp
Such a fun and unique place in walkers point! We did have to wait about 20 mins after our original reservation time but it was worth it. Highly recommend checking out the cheese curds as well they were delicious.

Yelp
Food was great. Better than expected with the small menu. Milkshakes were okay. 7/10. A bit on the watery side. Service was the reason for the stars. Waited over 20 minutes for milkshakes while other around came and left. Very selective and a bit rude. Disappointing. Kids enjoyed at least.

Yelp
Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning. It's best to make reservations as the place is smaller and very retro. The service was good, but it took a long time to get our food once we ordered. I would say about 20 minutes. I ordered the burger with a side of well-seasoned fries. The rest of my family ordered the Don's standard breakfast, which was hit or miss depending upon who you asked. My mother-in-law enjoyed her breakfast and ate most of it, except they didn't make the bacon well done like she asked. My father-in-law was unimpressed and my husband seemed to enjoy his meal for the most part. The tots were good and so were the cheese curds we ordered as an appetizer. I think most of us would return there again, but maybe try something different on the menu, rather than the standard breakfast. I thought my cheeseburger was fine and would get it again. Overall, good experience.

Yelp
Overall: a fun place to grab a cocktail or milkshake and enjoy an 80s ambiance. Recommend getting a reservation, this place is popular. Don't bother with the food. Seven of us made a reservation for 5/10/24. The lobby was crowded, so we're glad we made a reservation. Walking into the speakeasy was a nostalgia trip into the 1980s entertainment, the experience itself makes us want to come back. The food menu is simple, but the drinks menu is where it's at. There's a great variety of alcoholic drinks, boozy/virgin milkshakes, and NA beverages. We ordered burgers, which were just fine, I wish they came with fries ($10 for just a mediocre burger is a lot). We ordered the tater-tots smothered in cheese and donut holes for appetizers, which were great to satisfy anyone's inner-child. The drinks were what we enjoyed the most. Order-66 cocktail is great if you like ginger beer and mint and comes in a cute clone glass. The favorite was their spiked lemonade with a popsicle in it (boozy bomb pop lemonade) that was the perfect sugary summer cocktail. Accessibility: not wheelchair friendly, a few steps into the building and into the speakeasy. It can also get a bit crowded. For the hearing impaired folks, the kitchen is semi-open, so it can get noisy. Parking: free on-street parking

Yelp
The naughty angel burger is a go to for when I visit Don's! I would recommend dinning in instead of getting your food to go so you can enjoy the atmosphere and an ice cold 7-up Don's also has amazing specials all week long with great deals. Every time I have been the service is amazing especially when sitting at the bar. The vibes are so fun and nostalgic and the fun drinks are an added bonus!

Yelp
Our server was great! The food came out quickly and was hot. The drink selection was fantastic. We tried the Opposite of a Shower Beer mimosa, a shake, burgers and tots. It wasn't fancy, but the food was good and prices were affordable. The decor felt like it was pulled from our childhood. It was a fun meal! One thing that was super nice was even though the food came out quickly, we didn't feel rushed. Don't forget to make a reservation for this neat speakeasy!

Yelp
I had the fish fry, fish was great but the tartar sauce was the winner. And the milkshake was delicious.

Yelp
As a real life nerd this place makes me so sad! I would take kids I don't like here. Maybe if you've never left Milwaukee this could be cool.

Yelp
Great decor! So fun to go to a speakeasy, say the secret code, and then enter the restaurant. Food was so good we couldn't finish our plates. Shakes were so unique and yummy!

Yelp
I've meaning to visit Don's TV & Repair for a few years now. I don't know what took me so long. It's kind of a wild mixture of speakeasy, diner, and soda shop. Lots to look at on the walls and all around which is fun for me as I love kitsch. The decor seems to be a mixture of 1980s to mid '90s throwbacks. When I visited, there were two families with young kids enjoying these massively constructed milkshakes. Thankfully, I sat at the bar so I could what the construction of these milkshakes. That was entertainment alone. The food is very diner styled wit some unique options thrown in. They had a good range of alcoholic drinks available for a small-ish space. Even boozy milkshakes. The service was amazing! Our server was super attentive, friendly, and engaging all while crafting this milkshakes. I didn't actually have one, but I am just amazed by watching them being put together. Fun spot for all ages. Make a reservation!

Yelp
What an interesting place? If you aren't willing to play along to get in the door this probably isn't for you. It's a speakeasy type place. We were walk-ins, and the "service clerk" helped us sort through it. My 10y/o was with my wife and I. She also loved it. Once inside it's incredibly kitschy. I'm pretty sure the only thing healthy on the menu is water, but that's okay if you walk in knowing this. The decor is whacky. There's old TV's playing VHS tapes (Ace Ventura was already playing when we sat). We had several things. Pizza fries, a milkshake, and a cheesy Jalapeño brisket wrap. Nothing was healthy, but it was all tasty. Our server was friendly and while not incredibly attentive, we didn't feel neglected. I'm saying 4 stars because I'm not sure this would be a regular hang, but it was fun and I suggest anyone in Milwaukee tries it when it town.

Yelp
tl;dr how have I not reviewed this place yet!? I am dumbfounded that I have not jumped on Yelp to praise how much I love this place yet. What is going on!?!?!? Don's TV & Repair is such a cool and niche little place. It's a secret speakeasy restaurant pretending to be a TV repair shop. You walk in, you say a secret phrase and are whisked through the wall into an amazing themed restaurant. It's a great zone between tiki room, pop culture, TV and movie nostalgia. Many of the booths have sort of a theme and the menu has cheeky puns all over it. The dinner items are great (try the naughty angel sauce) and we almost always get a boozy shake to go along with the meal. ONE time, we did get the old fashion that COMES IN AN ENTIRE MINI CROCKPOT. That was an adventure and a delight and we got many laughs and comments from other tables (but sue us, we love old fashions!) The brunch I haven't been to in a really long time, but I do enjoy they offer breakfast food any time of day. I would definitely go back for a brunch, but I usually make this more of a special date-night type of event. The dinners are always great, the staff is great and always super friendly. ALSO THERE ARE $.10 MARTINIS (limit of 3 and on Thursdays, but still it's frickin amazing.) It is a definitely a place you need to try at least once and if your experiences are the same as mine, you'll be back.

Yelp
I ordered the fish fry and it was good. I really liked the horseradish potato pancakes, despite them being a bit greasy. I would get them again. My husband enjoyed his burger. The shakes looked incredible, but we just didn't have room for dessert. The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly. Just remember that they add in 18% for a service charge. They disclose it, so I don't think it's a bad thing. This place has a fun, nostalgic atmosphere. I recommend trying it if you're visiting Milwaukee! We found street parking without any problem.

Yelp
This speakeasy is pleasantly easy to get into and deceptively big inside. The decor is a hoot, so plan some time to look around. This was our last stop on a three-restaurant/bar dine-around: I wish I had more room for the menu here because it was pretty good. The menu options are your basic bar fare, but they execute them well. Service was in character, meaning a little odd, but they seemed to have fun with it, unlike the Safe House, where it seems like the staff is done with the whole shtick. Not bad, price wise, and a clever theme. I'd go back with a bigger group next time!

Yelp
Don't be deceive by the name for it is clever and nostalgic speakeasy restaurant. Fun place to have a Brunch or Dinner but need a reservation for its popularity and need a passcode which is given to you via email confirmation. Boozy libations and shakes are very creative. My family as a brunch here and server took us to our table. For Drinks we ordered boozy lemonade and supersize milkshake. Drinks came quickly, however it took a bit longer for our server to come back for to take our food order. At any rate for food, we've ordered Cheese Curd , their famous Fish Fry, Biria Burrito and Naughty Burger. Food came in moments later. Food came in warm and fresh. The fish fry served with potato pancake and poppy seed bread. It is very delicious, and the potato pancake was something didn't expect to be also good but the mustard horse radish flavor goes well with it. Biria burrito and naughty burger are also good. Family enjoyed the brunch experience along with the unique ambiance of the restaurant. Before I forgot to mention they play popular 80s music which makes me sing along with it.

Yelp
Don's TV & Repair is another new (to me) and super fun place. This feels like the place I would want to bring my out of town friends to. It's somewhat a late 80s to early 90s themed sit down, speakeasy. The decor includes zenith signage, thicc TVs, and gremlins. There's a surprising number of drinks that are special in ingredient and presentation. The Boozy bomp pop Lemonade really has a popsicle, Order 66 is in a Star Wars Hawaiian dude, and the old fashion is in a crockpot. Most of the drinks tasted like they were made for people that don't particularly love alcohol. The old fashion wasn't booze forward or too sweet. They also offer food items like fruity pebble pancakes, that taste exactly like it sounds, and tradition food like fish fry. The staff worked with our large reservation and got us two tables and helpful.

Yelp
Don's TV & Repair shop offers a fantastic blast from the past experience that everyone should try at least once. This nostalgic spot had us enjoying Rush Hour on VCR, savoring delicious milkshakes, and indulging in 10-cent martinis all in one night! Reservations are a must, but before our booking, my group explored Shakers (Capone's speakeasy) just a couple of blocks away before we were called back to guess the password for entrance. The food was exceptional, and had everyone clean their plates. I highly recommend trying the Brunch Burger and the cheese curds! Overall, this is a fantastic spot that has something unique to offer, and it's sure to keep you coming back with friends or family. 10/10 and not just for the martinis!

Yelp
In town visiting for a concert this Weekend. From the gecko the staff was welcoming and accommodating. Special thanks to our server Jaz, and the host Jabi for their constant attentiveness!

Yelp
Don's definitely lives up to the hype! The food was amazingly fantastic, the Bloody Mary's were to die for, and our server, shout out to Marleena, couldn't have been more spot on! Highly recommend this find! Everyone was ordering the shakes, so that will be a must do on our next trip! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I some how discovered this place on a must do while in Milwaukee list. I quickly looked into how to diner here and it is pretty simple, make reservations online and the reservation process literally tells you the rest of the steps needed. Now we have been to a couple of speakeasy's in the past, but the ones we have been to typically only serve drinks. So this was quite different and unique. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and followed the steps for entry. We were then promptly taken in side and seated. We then were so busy looking around at everything on the walls and all of the decor. It is really neat place. We looked at the menu and while it is not the biggest menu, we were torn on our entrees, but finally decided. My wife did order a cocktail and I ordered a beer. All of the cocktails are served in a cool tiki mug. It is worth noting that the mugs are for in restaurant use only and do not go home with you. My wife did comment that the Order Sixty Six cocktail was pretty strong on the ginger side. For our meals I ordered the Fish Fry and my wife ordered the Birria Breakfast Burrito with a side of onion rings. Our food was out pretty quick and we dove right in. Her burrito definitely needed two hands, it was pretty big. She loved it and said it had nice flavors. My fish fry was alright. I was slightly disappointed as it looked like it was just frozen pieces of fish that were fried. They were perfectly breaded and all the same size and shape. They were by no means bad, but I guess for some reason I was expecting freshly battered fish and no lt frozen filets. The horseradish potato pancakes were unique and very tasty. They did have a bite from the horseradish, but were very good. The salted rye was also a nice addition. I am not usually a big rye fan, but the addition of the salt added to it and curbed the sharp rye flavor. Not long into our meal, our server brought out an order of the Bourbon Donut Holes. She stated she heard it was our anniversary and they were on the house, so we could celebrate. This was such a nice touch, and we love when places recognize celebrations. When making the reservation, it did ask if you were celebrating anything, and I checked the anniversary option since we had were on a little anniversary trip. So it is nice to see them use that and recognize it. Back to the food. The onion rings were tasty, and they were battered onion rings as opposed to minced onions, which some places serve. The donut holes were good, but we thought they were a tad greasy. We did have a few of them, but we think had we ordered them and paid for they that we would be disappointed. The bourbon sauce is served in a tub, and we found it to be very rich, but also a little gritty. We had a great time and would for sure come back as this is an awesome venue. Our server was wonderful, she had such a great personality and was just so nice. We saw all of the shakes and other cool menu items people were ordering. This place is definitely worth checking out.
