We were in town for a 12U girls travel softball tournament - staying at the Doubletree downtown. Breakfast had been included with the stay and was, unfortunately, the same thing every day (for 5 days in a row). We were here during COVID time so there were no fresh chocolate chip cookies awaiting us either.
While traveling around town, we had seen the Donut Bank but had not heard of it. We're from OH, so Tim Horton's, Dunkin, Crispy Creme - those were familiar names. Other families starting raving about the donuts and pastries at the Donut Bank. We just had to check it out.
On our last morning as we were heading out of town, we skipped the hotel breakfast, checked out and headed for home. Google maps found the closest Donut Bank en route and we stopped in.
There was a LONG line out the door (not even bothering with the drive through line which was even longer). It was COVID time so face masks required and no sit down service. Once the family or 2 being served were done - things moved pretty quick. They must have been a difficult couple of people to deal with which held us up initially.
WHen it was finally our turn, hubby got 2 creme filled donuts with chocolate frosting. He also got a blueberry muffin for the road. I got a cookie as I prefer to buy sweets that I don't have to eat all at once - something I can nibble on and savor the goodness.
The donuts, I'm told, were fabulous, as was the muffin. Donuts were normal sized, the muffin probably the size of Panera's. The cookie was a thin sugar cookie with a glazed icing. It was delicious as I had hope for.
The prices were what really impressed me - far less than you would pay at Panera. I'm not sure about other chains as I've only really shopped Panera when buying for work.
I would definitely recommend this place for both the quality and prices. We'll stop back again if ever in the area - that's for sure!
