This is a no-frill donut shop you need if you're a sweet tooth or donut fan. Even if you're not, I'd recommend trying anyway, as long as you're not allergic to sweets. They're open at like 4 AM, only until around 3 PM. I went on Friday morning, around 8 AM-ish, and it was perfect. Just the perfect morning rush feel. It was busy but not wild.
Their flavors are more old-fashioned, not the crazy Florida or NY kind (if you know what I mean). I mean, crazy new flavor inventions are good, but sometimes you miss the homey old-school donuts, no? I do.
I initially planned to try only the apple fritter because everyone seems to be raving about them, and I also love apple fritter. However, upon visiting, I couldn't help but get a donut as well. I had the Samoa flavor.
The donut felt more cakey than yeasty, but it was very moist and light. I gave it an 8/10. It was absolutely delicious but similar to other good donut shops I've tried. I still enjoyed it, though. Then I moved on to the apple fritter. This one was one heck of a surprise. By the way, the apple fritter is as big as my face. I thought I'd had an apple fritter, but I've never had one like The Donut Cutter. It's SO unexpectedly crispy on the outside while maintaining a fluffy inside. I never thought apple fritter could be actually, deliciously crispy. It was super sweet, though. Honestly, I struggled to finish it because I was already sugar overloaded from the Samoa donut before. However, after I was finished (feeling a bit nauseous from the sugar), 2 hours later, I thought of the apple fritter again. That's how I know these apple fritters are no joke.
Service is fast. Cash is preferable. They take cards but charge 3-4% extra. There are signs all over the shops noting that, and they still confirmed with me when I handed them my card. Appreciate the courtesy!
