Vital Doughnut Updates | Eater Boston

"I visited the new Cambridge outpost of Donut Villa Diner at 20 Prospect St. and found much of the Malden stalwart’s personality intact: hand-cut doughnuts made daily and over-the-top dishes like a doughnut cheeseburger, doughnut French toast, and doughnut Benedict, plus plenty of breakfast and lunch options and a full vegan menu (including vegan doughnuts). Unlike the Malden location, the Cambridge spot adds dinner service and booze, and it celebrated a grand opening where the first 100 diners received a free doughnut." - Eater Staff

Malden’s Donut Villa Diner Expands to Cambridge’s Central Square | Eater Boston

"Located at 20 Prospect St. in Central Square, this neon-bedecked outpost brings the original’s hand-cut daily doughnuts and indulgent creations — including a doughnut cheeseburger, doughnut French toast, and doughnut Benedict — while adding dinner service and alcoholic brunch drinks like mimosas and bloody marys. Breakfast is served all day alongside plentiful breakfast-and-lunch classics, a full vegan menu with vegan doughnuts, and shareable dinner items such as quesadillas, nachos, tacos, turkey dinners, and pasta. The space features vintage signage and custom neon from a longtime Somerville shop, a patio, takeout with online ordering, and special promotions around the grand opening; the classic honey dip is the unquestioned bestseller, with other favorites including a Nutella-hazelnut (stuffed with Bavarian cream), Samoa, black raspberry jelly, and pistachio." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
This place is almost great. I would have placed it four stars for my meal - a flavorful breakfast burrito with added impossible sausage - but no one else at my table particularly liked their meal. Donut breakfast sandwich and blueberry pancakes both were sub-par for a place that seems like they would excel at these options. And coffee was meh. But mimosa flight was fun! Seems like the menu quality is quite variable overall. The inside is vintage and cute like you want it and there’s a pleasant quiet courtyard in the back. It’s nice for what it is - especially the veggie and vegan options. A bit disappointing for a first try, but it’s still worth another visit.

Google
I love this place! The food is so good, it takes me a while to figure out my order because it's hard to narrow it down to just one thing 😋 Also I love the fun phrases on their coffee cups.

Richard M.

Google
Fun menu, the donut breakfast sandwich is alright and the pancakes are good. Unfortunately the chicken and waffle Benny (my wife's order) was absolutely awful. The chicken had 0 flavor what so ever, surprisingly one of the worse dishes that I have ever tasted at any diner. I took a few bites from her plate as we share everything we get for the sake of testing and such, I could not believe how disappointing that dish was— i wasn't even looking forward to it yet it disappointed more than the chiefs at the super bowl last year. The service was nice though!

Google
Tasty brunch spot with a diner feel that doesn’t get too crowded on the early weekends. We liked the grilled cinnamon roll and would recommend the build your own omelette if you’re very hungry because servings are large. The coffee here is very good. Our waitress was Maria. She was great.

Google
It has a kind of modern diner atmosphere, I really like donuts so I was happy for the mix of the donuts and the diner breakfast. The ideas are good, the portions are fairly large, sometimes huge. We ordered at 2 pm (they are open until 3pm) and the only donut that they had left was the coconut donut. It was really nice, next time we aim to arrive earlier to try a different one too though. My only problem was that the donut that they have in the donut breakfast sandwich was way too oily for my taste, I wish it came with the same type of dough like the one in the coconut donut. The pickle fries were really nice too that it had spices in the batter, but it didn't have enough pickles, i like it if it has thicker pickle pieces because it was soaked in oil, it was too thin.

Chris P.

Google
Service here is really quick, staff are friendly, and the food is excellent. The vibe is lovely and I love the cups for the coffee.

Tri V.

Google
The food is pretty standard for a diner, good, but not outstanding. The service was very nice and I really enjoyed their decor. I would say the food is definitely on a slightly pricier price for what it is, but nothing absurd. Would recommend if you're in the mood for diner food.

Google
Wonderful diner that took the place of The Field in central square! The place is known for their donuts, but liked the brunch items and drinks that we got here as well. They have a vegan menu as well in case people need it. Like with The Field, there's an outdoor portion as well whenever there's warmer and sunny weather. Highlights included their egg dishes -- especially the Norwegian Benedict -- their toast, and avocado toast. Their potatoes were a little basic, but eggs were cooked great. Drinks were terrific especially their mimosas and bloody Mary. Their mimosas are on draft, comprise of different fruits, and are very fresh. The best item was the donut. We got the cinnamon one and it was absolutely delicious. Despite the long wait, it was totally worth it. Service was a bit slow, given that was it was Saturday brunch. The team though was friendly and periodically checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Pricing did reflect central square prices. Despite that, loved coming here and hope to come by again soon!

Yelp
As some gluten free (celiac), in other words - not gluten free by choice, I LOVE this place. There is nowhere else that has this many gluten free options for breakfast. I usually get the eggs Benedict on a gluten free donut, but I mixed it up this time and got the gluten free Boston cream pancakes. This plate is HUGE, so I recommend making this an order you share with a table if you ever want it. They have very friendly service here, always so accommodating. The vibe is old school diner inside and they have a good sized outdoor patio in the back as well. I will always come here for a good gluten free breakfast!

Yelp
I've been back to Donut Villa Diner a handful of times since my first experience. The food and service has vastly improved. It's a great little place for a quick classic diner breakfast. The donuts are spectacular.

Yelp
We went here for dinner because we were in the area and wanted to try something off the regular chains. Mostly everyone was sitting outside due to the nice weather. We decided to sit inside just because we had been outside most of the day. The actual Service was ok. Nice waitress. Just shame the communication wasn't happening with her and the chef. Food was ok, not really anything to write home about. Most of our order was messed up. I ordered a taco salad that had beans in it and asked for them to hold the beans and still ended up with beans. Had a few other items that never made it to the table but was charged and had to get removed from ticket. It wasn't bad service but it wasn't great either. The tea was not the best. Just saying herbal tea is not what I drink with my food. However this wasn't your ordinary type of restaurant either. Over all it was decent.
google avatar

Lin W.

Yelp
Maybe it was an off day, but there really wasn't much to write home about when we came here for lunch. I got the cheeseburger and my husband got the BLT. Both were not good; the lettuce in particular was not super fresh. The cheeseburger was slightly overcooked and the BLT wasn't very flavorful. Fries were okay but also not amazing. Service was slow, although there was only one waitress I could see, but the food came out fairly quickly.

Yelp
Great cute brunch spot in Central square! They manage to take classic diner decor and vibes and elevate it to a restaurant level with polished and attentive yet friendly service. My dining companion and I both have dairy allergies, so we were thrilled to see the large vegan menu offered (on top of an already large regular menu). We got the almond joy waffle and vegan scrambled bowl and both were delicious and filling. The bottomless coffee was also a nice touch, and our server was very good about making sure our cups got refilled. My only wish is that there could have been a dairy-free or vegan donut offered, but I could still see myself coming back again for the great service, relaxed atmosphere, and extensive menu that can cover almost any type of brunch craving.

Yelp
Worst experience at a restaurant in a while. I ordered the short stack pancakes which were $8.99, and I asked the server if the $1.99 for toppings meant any toppings and not paying for each topping separately. Our server said yes, and I got three toppings, so I was shocked to see our check that my pancakes were almost $15. That meant each topping costed $1.99 and our server lied to us. We felt pretty cheated out of our money, even if it was miscommunication, she should have clarified with us still. Really disappointed with our experience here. Food is mediocre and mushy and bland. Would not come here again.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! Came here around 10am on a sunday morning and there was no wait to be seated. Vibes were nice and service was pretty quick. Definitely recommend getting the bashinator and donut french toast. Wasn't too pricey overall. Thanks!

Yelp
Today I was hungry. (When am I not?). This is one of my favorite diners. The donuts are big and fluffy and flavorful all at once! I started off at the counter with a lemon glazed donut and coffee. Ya gotta get one, its definitely worth it. I then ordered take out. I'm meeting up with a friend who has to work today. I ordered the Bonkers Breakfast for me and a Bashinator Sandwich for them. Everything was packaged securely. All condiments and utensils inside. The food was delicious per usual. Eggs exceptionally fluffy, bacon crispy, French toast scrumptious and the sandwich was flavorful with those same fluffy eggs and savory ham. All in all a very worthwhile experience. Shoutout to Mr. Enrique whos customer service skills are always on fleek.

Yelp
First time trying this spot! At work and wanted some breakfast! Got the Grilled Cinnamon Roll and the Donut Breakfast Sandwich with sausage egg & cheese. Also got a Black Raspberry Jelly donut. It was delicious light not heavy good amount of blk raspberry jelly inside. The sandwich was delicious, eggs good great on the donut as perfect wow! The grilled cinnamon roll was out of this world omg! It was rich and not overwhelming! Definitely a treat for the morning! Try this spot you will be happy you did! Can't wait to try something else next time for breakfast!

Yelp
My wife, best friend, and I planned to meet with my wife's two uncles and aunt for brunch at 11am on July 3rd, so we looked for places around our hotel in Central Square. We saw Donut Villa Diner on Google Maps and my wife called and they made a reservation. We walked in to their wonderful decor of a small diner and they sat us three at a table which seemed tight for us before family arrived which they noticed and kindly sat us at a larger table. We had coffee and orange juice to drink which was all wonderful and the coffee cups have adorable quotes which we would love to have in our homes. To eat my wife and I shared the Boston Creme Pancakes and the Donut Benny. Our friend had the Donut French Toast which we tried and loved. The Donut Benny was good but not quite as spectacular as the Pancakes and French Toast. My wife's uncles and aunt were more of in a lunch mood and they enjoyed their food as well. We highly recommend Donut Villa Diner as it is very unique and we have not seen or heard of place of anything like this.

Yelp
Typical diner vibe minus the affordability, but you are paying for quality. Highly recommend their Egg Benedict's of any kind! I got their corned beef hash Benedict and a side of sausage links. Fast service, and the workers have the awareness of when I want to be left alone or not. Not sure if I'll come again, since it was just a normal dining experience, but great place if you want to try something different.

Yelp
These donuts are great! I bought a dozen to bring to a party and they were a big hit! Soft and delicious, the variety of flavors was well received. These hit the right spot with sweetness and well, ya know that feeling that comes from biting into a well made donut? That's what we got. No big-batch product here! I'll definitely be back for more donuts!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
The set up gives the old school dinner feel. The out door seating means the door was proped most of the time which let flies in. The grilled cinnamon roll was amazing and the cinnamon dip I think was butter that came w it really kicked it up a notch. The chicken on the chicken and waffles Benedict was dry and didn't automatically come w suryp we had to ask for it. The filling in the Quesadilla was delicious but it was too moist to be in that format it made it very messy to eat. The extensive flavor selection for the mimosas was a nice surprise.

Yelp
Solid brunch place for food with great value. The decor is like a classic diner which makes it a fun environment to enjoy your meal! We came here after doing a 5K run in Cambridge and was happy with our experience here. Price is super reasonable and staff were friendly. No reservations needed. Just walk in! The wait was about 20 minutes for us on a late Saturday morning. Food: 8/10 Service: 8/10 Experience: 8/10 Value: 9/10

Yelp
Super yummy cocktails for decent prices! Pumpkin mimosa was surprisingly good despite June temperatures outside

Yelp
I am back! Had to stop in again for the pickle fries! They are still delicious and the crew is friendly and helpful. Met the owner , nice guy and could tell he loves his restaurant. Got the buffalo chicken wrap and it was exactly how it should be, very flavorful! Will continue to stop by when in the area!

Yelp
Donuts: 5 different vegan flavors, 3 of them to notch. Cake style, like Kane's. Nice option when Union Square Donuts doesn't have vegan flavors. Online ordering: Donut availability was not accurate. Food: Breakfast sandwich was small and underwhelming, Vinal is much better for a similar category. Ambience: Lighting is a bit severe and music was strange (electronic Sound of Silence remix?). Maybe trying for a Friendly Toast vibe but missing the mark. Verdict: will go back for takeout vegan donuts, skip the rest.

Yelp
Really cool decor, nice people, yummy food! I came here for breakfast with my sister, and we both really enjoyed our meals. I'm vegan, and I really appreciate that they have a full page vegan menu with tons of variety, as well as several vegan donuts in the display case in the front. It took a few minutes for someone to notice us when we walked in, but as soon as we were seated our waitress was wonderful and we were served quickly. The signs and posters on the walls really add to the diner vibe and make eating here a fun experience. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
I'll start with the things I liked: I'm a sucker for any type of Nostalgia vibe and Donut Villa Diner has a whole lot of that. They have all the vintage ads, the counter in the middle gives the soda fountain vibes, though it's coffee and booze being served from there. Walking in and seeing all that just made me happy. My husband got some tasty belgian waffles. Damn, those were good. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. We were seated quickly, and got our food in a reasonable amount of time. I had an iced mocha and I liked that! The location is right off of Central Square so it's very easy to get to by transit. The fries were the breaded and fried kind - Love those! Things I liked less: Only one bathroom. My Tuna melt. - which was probably fine by other peoples standards, it just wasn't how I liked it and i couldn't finish it. Two much mayo? Too Squishy? I don't know, but I won't order it again. Over all - pretty good. I'd love to go back and actually try some of their interesting dougnut based dishes. ESPECIALLY the bread pudding.

Yelp
TLDR; not worth coming for lunch and I wouldn't come back tbh I usually hand out 5 stars like candy on Halloween but this experience was so weird and not good that I'm giving it a 4. -Food: friend and I got cheeseburgers, hers was supposed to be well-done, with regular fries. Mine was supposed to be medium, with cooked onions, and Cajun seasoning on the fries (which did not appear to have an extra cost on the menu -- only sweet potato fries or side salad would be an upcharge). WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE ORDERED. she got a medium (pink) patty (with raw onions) with regular fries and even got a pickle on the side. I got a well done patty with raw onions and Cajun fries and there was no pickle on my plate. The patties were swapped and they didn't cook my onions. She gave me her pickle, but the pickle was bad -- SOFT AND SOGGY! she likes her burgers well done so they don't drip, and hers was very drippy and didn't like it. I ended up getting charged +$2 for the Cajun fries unexpectedly. Seasoning was not worth $2. There was a nice crisp on my patty, I think they do it smash style. The lettuce was weirdly small and fell onto the floor as soon as I picked up the burger. The fries were the best part. I would not come back. $17 burger The service: all staff seemed checked out and unhappy. Clearly the kitchen doesn't care because they messed up my order so bad. The server who took our order never asked how we liked the meal so I never said anything about the meal being wrong. He was exceptionally greasy, tall, and bumbling around without paying attention or even a glimpse of joy. Overall hostile experience from staff. Ambiance; came at 3pm on a Saturday to try a local spot for lunch. There was weird and very terrible music playing very very loudly. I would describe it as basic electro-pop spin class music or what a fin-bro would put on in the bedroom. The kind of music that makes you cringe, would piss off your parents, and just kinda makes you think "this is off-putting". I think they overheard me remarking about how I thought the music was so bad that I was going to ask the staff if they would put on a different playlist because the music was turned down. It was a much better experience when the music was lower. The electronic music wasn't even house. It was auto tuned pump music. They should just play oldies or retro vibes to fit the interior design. The booths were cool, the counter seemed cool, but they need to re-think the walls. I don't usually make comments on decor but the decor on the walls was very cringe. It was novelty looking ironic millennial-humor aluminum signs that make you go . They should take all of the shitty signs down and just paint a retro swoop on the walls. Some of those signs were unrelated to donuts like a millennial font "Alexa, bring me my wine" (weird af). I would not go back here. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Would not go back. Why do we have to live in an age of $17 burgers.

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place and consider it a new brunch staple - it ended up being perfectly fine but not sure I would come back for brunch unless someone else was specifically interested. The diner has fun decor reminiscent of an old classic diner and it was easy to get a seat around 9am on a Sunday. By 10 it was full with just a short wait outside. Service took a tiny bit longer than expected but it was a Sunday morning so we weren't that bothered. As a big pro, the menu is well balanced and it's awesome that there's a dedicated vegan menu. We ordered 'the hungry woman' (appreciate the inclusivity!) - a pretty basic combo of eggs, French toast/pancakes, breakfast meat (can sub vegan options), toast, home fries, and coffee - and then a vegan scramble bowl (seitan sausage with some veggies, beans, and home fries). The food was generally fine - the eggs seemed a little cold and the vegan sausage was kind of..gluey? It wasn't recognizable as seitan. The French toast was quite good. The hot coffee was good as well which is super important. We wondered if ordering from the part of the menu that involved griddle-based dishes using donuts (like donut French toast or sandwiches) would have been more remarkable. We ordered a chocolate sprinkle donut to go since this is obviously their claim to fame and the donut was excellent - it's clear that they are donut pros and I would want to eat the donuts again. A couple other things that individually we might not even notice but together left a little to be desired: - multiple plates seemed a little dirty on the edges - there aren't many condiments (like ketchup or butter) on the tables (this might reduce waste which I fully support - but because the servers seemed pretty busy it did delay the eating process

Yelp
RIP to the field. This is my first visit since they closed. We (group of 4) came by on Sunday for brunch around 10:45. It was packed but we were able to get a table immediately. We had coffee, mimosa flights, blts, hash & eggs, and a breakfast burrito. Honestly the food was not good. I would not recommend eating here for breakfast or brunch. It was all fine but nothing stood out (quality, quantity, taste). Makes sense that their prices are lower than other brunch spots in the Cambridge area. Also there were a bunch of little black flies bothering us the entire meal. Not good. The mimosa flights though.. so good!! Highly recommend trying all their flavors. It was the only thing we had that was enjoyable. The glasses did have little specs of black, not entirely sure what it was. A little extra cleaning/spot checking would go a long way.

Yelp
Donut villa diner is DELICIOUS! Amazing diner food, combined with a retro diner vibe, makes for an amazing experience. I have been to donut villa diner several times, and have received consistently good portions, service, and food. Whenever I'm in the central area or want to get brunch in Cambridge, this is one of my go to options.
google avatar

Moriah L.

Yelp
The waitress here was kinda mean, so service is the first mark off. The vegan waffle was sour and mushy, seemed undercooked. I probably should have said something, but I was afraid of the mean waitress. There was a cockroach crawling all over the donut display, as well. The bathroom was also kind of gross. Maybe their normal food is good, but I wouldn't recommend this place at all based on my experience. It's a cute little vintage diner so it has that going for it, but the roach and dirty bathroom detract from the charm. Worst $30 I've spent in a while...
google avatar

Yelp
Gentleman behind the cafe counter was very friendly and helpful. Decided to treat myself to donuts on a Friday, and had 6 different ones (no shame) and they were delicious. So happy with his recommendations. Got a Honey Dipp, a Coconut, Cinnamon Sugar, 2 Choco Chip Twist (My favorite), and a Frosted. Would recommend.
google avatar

Kim R.

Yelp
I was in the area and looking for a place for breakfast. I'm a sucker for an old school diner. Loved the fact that they had donut dishes. The server let me sit wherever I wanted to. He took my drink order and came back with them and took my food order. I decided on the steak and cheese spring rolls and the donut eggs Benny. I asked for the spring rolls first. I was disappointed that both came out together but luckily the spring rolls were piping hot. Once I got over the initial taste of the sweet and savory together of the Benny, I enjoyed both items.
google avatar

Yelp
This rating is for takeout donuts. We were in the area so I stopped by to try some of the donuts. It was the afternoon so a bunch of flavors were sold out, which is to be expected We got the: - chocolate chip cream twist: donut was ok, the Bavarian cream filling was good, but there was only small amounts in the ends. Slightly oily/fried tasting - chocolate coconut: standard chocolate donut, lots of shredded coconut on the outside. It was 100% covered, not just on the top - chocolate frosted with rainbow sprinkles: the donut was very plain, almost dry They're $3 each which is pretty reasonable. We didn't find it to be particularly impressive, definitely not my preferred donut spot, but I'm pretty picky.

Austin K.

Yelp
I was excited to try the donut versions here, and while they were somewhat met, I feel like they could have been executed better. The donut french toast was good and sweet enough to serve as a 'dessert meal', but while the menu says that the donut is soaked in french toast batter, it felt barely dipped. The donut breakfast sandwich was tasty, but if there was more heat/griddle, I think it wouldn't been much better. We also got a non-donut smashed avocado eggs benny, which was standard but good.
google avatar

Kristine Z.

Yelp
Really cute ambiance inside and good service! The pumpkin spice latte donut was decent with lots of filling inside but was pretty ordinary. The hot chocolate seemed pretty watery with partially dissolved chocolate mix and a oily whipped cream. The pancake and other donut breakfast sandwich were also just ok in terms of taste and probably not worth it.
google avatar

Anita J.

Yelp
Awesome place near Central Square! The staff are really nice, the vibe is old school diner-esque with some booths. Where to start with the food: - Their donuts are AMAZING. So many flavors and so good! - Brunch options are 5/5 - Pricing on everything is very reasonable - VEGAN OPTIONS GALORE! Even Vegan donuts!!! It gets busy here on the weekends during brunch times, even starting around 10:30! But worth the wait :)

Yelp
I enjoyed my first experience at Donut Villa in Cambridge. I met up with a couple of friends who had already been there before, so it was nice to catch up with them. Be mindful of your conversations, because it can get loud in there (..a Sunday morning), but the noise level didn't bother me...it's a diner. It definitely has a diner feel, with the decor, and spacing is kind of tight, but don't go at a busy time if you have a smidgen of claustrophobia. There was a slight wait, but that moved quickly. I went in hungry and ready to eat, so I had the scrambled eggs, the Nutella and banana stuffed french toast with a side of turkey bacon. As I said, I was hungry! Don't judge me. The french toast was delicious, the eggs were good (I like them covered in cheese..and hot sauce), the turkey bacon was ok. It just needed to be cooked a little more. The waiter was overwhelmed, but he was kind. I don't mind kind, overwhelmed waiters in a busy spot. I didn't get a donut, so I can't judge those. I'd definitely return when family comes to town.
google avatar

Della S.

Yelp
The decor and vibes here are very fun, and they have lots of vegan options. We tried the hungry man ($12.99) which came with 3 eggs, 2 sausage links, 2 strips of bacon, 2 slices of toast, home fries, and coffee. The toast came buttered and everything tasted good. While I prefer my home fries on the crispier side, the home fries here were soft but seasoned well. This was a big portion for the price! We also got a raspberry jelly donut ($2.49). The donut was very light, fluffy, and didn't feel greasy at all. There wasn't as much jelly filling as what you'd find in a Krispy Kreme donut. The coffee, as other reviewers have mentioned, is more bitter rather than acidic. I'm not complaining, though-- it went really well with the donut. The only downside to our visit was that the food took a very long time. We came on an early Sunday afternoon when there were quite a few empty tables near us, so I expected to receive my food a bit quicker. I was impressed that the different items I tried did not feel super greasy. The portions are quite big and perfect for sharing.

Angelina Z.

Yelp
I came here for a last-minute galentine's day brunch and was so grateful that Donut Villa Diner had space for our party. Despite the restaurant being busy, we received quick service. I ordered the corned beef hash with a croissant and side of home fries. While the eggs and beef hash were delicious, the carbs were underwhelming. The croissant was slightly stale and not airy or flakey at all, and the potatoes were undercooked and underseasoned. It was a good portion size for the price, but I would not order this dish again.
google avatar

Alice D.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday morning for brunch and we were seated quite quickly. The space was more full than I expected for a weekday, but that only made us more excited for the meal knowing the place's popularity. The menu was quite diverse with a handful of offerings including a donut section that uses donuts as bread for things like French toast, burgers, and more. I'll definitely look more into that if and when I come back again! Our orders were taken quickly, but the food took quite a while to come out. We were only a party of three, but perhaps due to the busy nature of the space, the kitchen staff could've been a little overwhelmed. The food itself was good - nothing too fancy or unique, but for its price in Central Square and the quantity, it was decent. The Elvis French Toast stood out as something that set the dish apart from other brunch places, but the plating was honestly kind of barren and its taste was a little underwhelming in my opinion. The Avo Benny as well didn't have as much avocado as I expected - you can't even see it in the picture and its taste was sparse. Nonetheless, the plate itself wasn't too bad holistically, it just left a lot to be desired. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back. I think the service was nice and the food was all right - definitely a good place for brunch in the area, but just know that you're paying for exactly what you're getting and nothing more.

Yelp
This is a new spot that opened in central square. As the name has DONUT in it, I had to try their donut breakfast sandwich. The donuts surprisingly was lighter and less sweet than regular donuts. The savoury egg and cheese complimented the slight sweetness and softness of the donut. I asked for no bacon and the restaurant gave me free fries instead! The coffee was meh, but the donut breakfast sandwich was totally worth it. I'll be back to try their donut burgers!

Yelp
Adorable little diner in the heart of the city! The waiters were so nice, all rather young. They made me feel very welcomed. The donut selection was very nice and there are so many vegan options as well as many on the normal menu. The donuts taste very fresh the glaze was how glaze should be (not hard) The donut sandwich was amazing, there was no glaze on the donut so it was still savory with a slight sweetness in the bread. The eggs and bacon were great and it was the perfect size. The fries were also so yummy, coming from someone who doesn't love fries typically. The coffee was good as well but bitter so needed to add sugar packets. But the caramel was very good and the cup is huuuge. Very very happy with this place. They are lgbtq+ friendly and make everyone feel welcome. There are young people here as well as older folk, making it the perfect place for everyone! The bathrooms are gender neutral and located on each side of the restaurant (there are two) and the wait time was almost nothing. If I wasn't a visitor to the city then I would definitely make this a weekly occurrence!

Yelp
Pretty standard diner fare - on the day we went they didn't have any donuts for the items on their menu (like the donut French toast, donut sandwich, etc. - they only had specialty donuts for sale at the front of the restaurant). Considering that donut is literally in their name and is part of the draw, this was a little disappointing as we thought those items would be a fun thing to try once, even though we may never reorder it. As it was, their other brunch items were adequate. Some of the food on my plate was cold by the time I was served, like the potatoes. We did end up taking a couple of the specialty donuts home, and those were quite good so I would maybe go back for donuts if I were in the area but otherwise skip going back for brunch.

Yelp
I've had takeout a few times now. I'm not totally impressed. The pluses, the donuts are yummy. The scrambled eggs are decent. The coffee is good. But, the toast is far too under toasted and without butter as described in the menu. The corned beef hash is bland, no salty taste at all but is heavy with garlic in taste and scent, plus there is barely any corned beef with too many potatoes. The home fries were good. I think I'm only going for the coffee and donuts.

Yelp
Would not come back. Received iced coffee when we ordered a hot latte, charged us extra $3 for a substitution on an entree, charged us for a large size coffees when we ordered a small. Service was slow. Food was OK, the fried pickles are actually "pickle fries" which is all breading and basically no pickle. Seems like the only reason it's popular is for the gimmicky donuts, but not paying attention to quality food or service.

Yelp
Review from March 11, 2023. Crowded, quantity over quality. I got the chicken and waffle benny--it was a messy plate. I was with a group of 9 and while nothing was bad, nothing was notably wonderful. I won't go back.

Yelp
I came here during peak Sunday brunch hours and was able to get seated immediately. After walking in, it's hard not to notice the unique and retro diner decor, which makes for a nice atmosphere. I was unsure what to order at first because their menu is massive, but I ended up getting some pancakes with a couple toppings. My biggest complaint was when ordering, I confirmed with the waitress whether the toppings were $1.99 extra per topping OR $1.99 extra for an unlimited number of toppings. She assured me that it was $1.99 for any number of toppings so I ordered a few-- and was surprised to find out when receiving my bill that this was not the case, and was charged extra. Although it's not much money, I was a bit annoyed and probably would've ordered something else. The service was also very slow and it took very long for the food to arrive. However, the food itself was tasty and the donuts looked very good as well. They have very large portion sizes here too, which help you leave feeling very full and satisfied.

Yelp
The service was odd. And the food was mediocre, the donuts were lackluster. When you hear "donut sandwich" I feel like your expected to be wowed. It literally felt like I was eating a plain bagel egg and cheese bagel . The portions could've been better. FYI those 10 fries were there before I took a bite, so yeah could've they could've added more fries. If you are in the area and just want a quick bite I would recommend you just stopping by, but if you not in the Cambridge area this is nothing to drive out of your way for. My girlfriend did mention the home fries felt like one of those Jaw Breakers off Ed Edd & Eddy. The ambiance is good the booths give me that nice retro dinner feel that I like.

Yelp
Love the vibes at this cute diner in central. Despite being right next to the t stop I'd never really paid the place any kind--perhaps because they are not on Mass Ave or because the signage outside doesn't say much. But this place has very cute diner energy that manages to balance its role as a delightful brunch spot and a bar. It's simultaneously classic and full of unique spunk. The food is quite good, particularly the donuts which come in all sorts of flavors. The main menu is basically just your diner standards with all sorts of choices to sweeten them up. I came for brunch but will have to return to check out the bar vibe. Highly recommend you do the same!

Yelp
Came here for brunch, the restaurant was very packed. The atmosphere was very loud, not the most chill spot. The waiters were nice! The food was okay, the grilled donut was amazing. I definitely think the sweet donuts are the star of the show.

Yelp
I'm a regular customer, usually twice a week. I find the food and service to be great. I'm a senior and I appreciate the considerate service and fine food. They are consistently good in making my experience something that I value and look forward to each time I visit.

Yelp
We came here for lunch and it was really delicious! We had two donuts, steak salad, and egg benedict and they were very good! The steak in the salad was so good that I think it was like steakhouse quality. The egg benedict was okay but it can be improved a bit. The donuts were wonderful! I normally don't like donuts, the donuts here were so good I liked them! And the server was really friendly and professional. I would recommend this place :-)

Yelp
The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The server knew his menu and advised us well. Typical dinner atmosphere just what we expected. We would return if ever in Boston.

Yelp
It was ok. There are a decent amount of gluten-free options... But don't be fooled they are not exactly what you think. I ordered the gluten-free chicken and waffle and it is just a gluten-free waffle with grilled chicken. Not what I was expecting. It is ok, I was thinking that I would've been some kind of gluten-free fried chicken. I didn't follow up and ask but I was a little bit disappointed . The waffle was ok, but probally wouldn't go back. I also asked about getting the hash, which the server told me wasn't gluten free.
