Donutelier - Review - Covent Garden - London - The Infatuation

"We’ve loved doughnuts ever since we had our first raspberry-filled, sugar-covered bite from Greggs on the bus home from school. Something we’ve learned since then, is that often the more extravagant the piping work and the more Willy Wonka-esque the name, the more disappointing. Donutelier, a doughnut shop and cafe in Covent Garden, makes some beauty pageant-winning doughnuts that are style over substance. You’ll be tempted by a Shrek-green pistachio doughnut only to cringe at how sweet it is. Flavours like vanilla cookie cream sounds and looks like an Oreo-lover’s dream, but require a jug of water to wash down the coating of sugar you’ll have on your tongue afterwards. Starting at £5.50 a doughnut, you’ll probably wish you went to Greggs. If only Greggs had the same pastel pink interiors and tables to perch on." - Rianne Shlebak

All of their pastries are irresistibly tempting—it was almost impossible to choose! Both the taste and presentation exceeded expectations, and for once, the Instagram hype is completely justified. We tried the Pistachio Flaky Pastry and the Pistachio and Black Forest Doughnuts. The flaky pastry was an absolute standout—so delicious that I’m already planning my next visit just to have it again. The service was quick and efficient, and the cozy seating area added a lovely touch, providing the perfect spot to savor your treats in peace. Highly recommend stopping by for a sweet indulgence!

Amazing pastry shop and coffee place. It's a little pricey but all desserts are spectacular. The seating area is small but cozy for cold weather. It can be packed in the afternoon. Service is great 👍

The place was packed on a Saturday, but service was great and people went in and out quickly. Service was friendly, kind and efficient. The doughnuts were gorgeous and delicious, not too sweet. It was a good balance of flavours and we even took some back home but be mindful that the doughnuts may move in the packaging and it won't look the same. Lots of different flavours to choose from.

I bought pistachio pastry which looked really good from the outside, but I was hugely disappointed as it did not taste good at all. It was super dry with no pistachio cream. It tasted like an old, stale pastry. Definitely not worth £6.40. So disappointing. You can buy better tasting pastey in any supermarkets. Please do not waste your time and money as there are other bakeries/patisserie shops around with yummy and delicious pastries.

Donutelier Review Donutelier is a must-visit for anyone in London craving artisanal donuts. Their Passion Coconut Donut and Frosty Mont Blanc are absolute treats—beautifully crafted, bursting with flavor, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The Passion Coconut combines tropical flavors with a creamy texture, while the Frosty Mont Blanc feels like dessert heaven. With its elegant presentation and indulgent taste, Donutelier redefines what a donut can be. A sweet experience not to miss!

Great doughnut, we had the Dulcey Pecan doughnut, Pistachio doughnut & pistachio pastry. The doughnuts were light and not too sweet, I would say they’re nice but not fabulous taking consideration of the high price tag. The pastry however, not quite as nice - it’s rather chewy, cold and dry. The only difference I could think of is that the doughnuts bought in the afternoon potentially freshly served, the pastry bought 9pm at night so might be out for awhile. Regardless we paid full price and the quality of the pastry is just not worth the price tag(£5.90!!). In conclusion, would I return for more? Potentially not - it’s one of those hyped place that you buy once to try and take photo of the pretty food. Photo of one of the receipt attached as reference, didn’t get the receipt for the doughnuts.

A slightly chaotic ordering system (our server was switched and the new initially ignored us) but somewhat expected in such a busy environment - the queue was halfway down the street. We ordered a Rochers Gianduja (doughnut) and a Pistachio Raspberry (pastry). The doughnut was extremely sickly, though this is obviously going to be the case if you read the description. I wouldn't order again but I didn't hate it. The pastry went down well with my other half so I think next time I might try something from that range. It's obviously very expensive at £13 for two takeout items, but they're more akin to a restaurant dessert than a 'normal' doughnut and pastry.

I love these doughnuts, and I’m not a doughnut fan, they are just scrumptious, I always get some when in London. A bit pricey but delicious treat once in a while. Staff are very friendly and super helpful.
