Door 44 Winery

Claudia was awesome. We had a blast and found a few new favorites that we hadn't tried before. We would LOVE a shirt option to the white door label, it's such a cool design! we had the place basically to ourselves!

We had the most fantastic experience at Door 44. The staff was incredible and the tasting room was stunning. The wine was so much better than anything else we tried on the island. Super happy to hear they used local grapes unlike one of the ones down the county that claims to be local but imports its grapes 🙄. Oh and the White and Red Door had the cutest label. I don’t often save my bottles but this one I may have to! Thanks for a great afternoon!!!

Excellent winery. Jen was so knowledgeable about all of the wines (she asked me questions about the types of wines I normally drink) and she was friendly. Jen helped me pick out wines for my flight. The Rose' is 5 stars and they have really good wine, with grapes grown in Wisconsin. Claudia was also very kind, friendly, and welcoming. It was the highlight of my day trip up to door county. I will be back this spring/summer with my fiancé and fur-daughter to enjoy the outdoor patio. A++++++

My family and I love this winery. It has something for everyone when it comes to wine, (well not those folks who like cherry wine.) Even so, you won't be disappointed with the variety of dry, semi dry, semi-sweet and sweet. All of the staff are wonderful too and they've become part of our family.

This was our 2nd year visiting Door 44. It was a brisk day so we sat inside - very cozy atmosphere. The wines are delicious & the staff is great! Very knowledgeable & personable. Beautiful location - inside & out.

Brenna from Door 44 took great care of us! She was very knowledgeable on their variety of wines and made recommendations based on our specific tastes. We like wine but we aren’t wine experts by any means so this was very helpful. She was very attentive to our needs and we had a good time.

What a FANTASTIC WINERY with AMAZING WINES and PEOPLE!! It's by far the best winery in D.C with their grapes locally grown. They offer a wonderful selection of whites, reds, sparkling and ice wines. Many of their wines have won reginal and national awards as well. Their flights are generous and the employees are Extremely helpful in selecting the perfect wine for your tastes. Jen, Claudia and Margaret are SO Personable and make each visit memorable. They do offer charcuteries, local cheeses and crackers/breadsticks to complement the wines. Check out their events calendar for local singers that also set the tone for a perfect afternoon in Door County. My husband and I Really enjoy their dry reds. Our favorites are: Vintner's Reserve, Petite Pearl and Red Door. We like their wines So Much that we became members several years ago. Door 44 is also the sister sight to Parallel 44 that's located in Kewaunee, Wisconsin.

I want to sing the praises of Door 44 Winery and, in particular, Claudia, who works there. We started visiting this winery prior to our move to Door County. During our first visit, we first met Claudia, who did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. She was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and provided us with a beautiful tasting experience. We enjoyed the casual vibe and lack of snobbery that one can sometimes find in other wineries (although we have found almost all Wisconsin wineries to be friendly and free of snobbery). We loved this winery so much that we made frequent return trips to enjoy live music, sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine, or have a lovely conversation with Claudia. Claudia has gone out of her way to make us feel welcome to the winery, welcome to the area, and to introduce us to other regulars. She has such a fun, lovely personality and really adds a special warmth to the winery. Claudia is particularly great with children. She loves children and it shows. I have seen her fill little tasting glasses with soda pop to give to the kids to make them feel welcome and included. I have seen her dance with kids to the live music. I have seen her help children collect rocks during less busy times of the day. She and her husband John (who works there one day per week) are truly instrumental in making this place run beautifully. I have to comment that every person I've encountered in Door 44 Winery has been friendly and very kind. However, I want to send some special love to Claudia because she adds that special spark to the winery to make it extra-special.

We were greeted by a nice lady. We get to choose 4 for the wine tasting. There was a nice backstory the guy gave for the wines we selected. We sat inside, but there are seatings outside. Very clean and spacious inside. It was very warm that day and we were allowed to walk through the vineyard and taste a few grapes. They had red and white grapes. Luckily, we came the week before they were going to harvest them.

Was pleasantly surprised by this cute winery! Stopped in with my partner for a tasting. We were greeted right upon walking in the door and the woman explained to us how things work, super appreciated since not all wineries work the same. We ordered a wine and cheese flight at the bar. I really liked that you could choose between two different wines for each selection. The staff here is great! The woman pouring our wines was super fun. And a man set up a table for us outside without us asking so we could enjoy the gorgeous day. The wines were 50/50 for me. I loved the sparkling and the rose! The white wine that was supposed to be akin to a Sauvignon blanc tasted more like an oaky Chardonnay to me. And the red wines that were meant to be dry were pretty juicy. We ended up taking home some sparkling wines!

We did not even make it all the way in the door before the nicest employee that I've ever come across greeted us and told us excitedly about how they had won 2024 awards. We were given the sample list and quickly pointed towards the wine bar where we were able to get four samples and some snacks. It's a beautiful setting and there was live music the day we were there. We really loved the wine, especially the sparkling ones and relaxing inside.

When in Door County, Door 44 is a must! The selection of wine is phenomenal. The staff is friendly and gives an excellent overview of your wine tasting selections. The vineyard view is phenomenal.

Absolutely amazing. Room a day trip from Green Bay to see the leaves in Door County. So glad I turned around and stopped for a tasting flight

We visited in 2022 and loved the wine and staff. Since then we have ordered from them a few times each year and couldn't be more pleased. The website is easy to navigate and the customer service and communication are outstanding. Our favorites wines are the Marquette Reserve and Petite Pearl. Definitely plan on visiting again on our next trip to Wisconsin; until then, we will have their wines shipped to our home.

This was our last stop on our mini self-led winery tour and it was a great way to round it out. The location was beautiful! A little ways off the road and a nice building. It wasn't too busy inside and we had quick service! My favorite of my choices was the pink frosting, but their St Pepin was also great. We rated this one as our best stop for snacks, as they have a great selection of foods/charcuterie goodies. The man who helped us and poured us was super knowledgeable and was very helpful. Everyone was great and the wine was pretty good! They didn't have a lot of fruited wines, but overall had a good selection. Their specialty is the Ice wine and for good reason- make sure to give it a shot. I would not miss this spot- make sure to check it out!

The people were nice- atmosphere nice. Just didn't care for the wine. 10.55 for 4 tastings- the process is smart just a matter of my particular palette I'm a dry red girl and my hubby a sweeter the better guy and they were sold out of all sweet wines.

Three of us had an excellent experience in the tasting room. Our server was wonderful at explaining the different wines and in helping us decide which we would like the best. Our favorites were the ice wine and the late harvest. This place is highly recommended. Mike sez check it out!

Had a great visit today with our favorite hostess Claudia. Sampled some great wines and bought a case of our favorites!

Just visited for a wine tasting. My dad asked John if they had any Non-Alcoholic wine, which we have been able to find at many other wineries in the area. John's response was "no, that's called grape juice". I felt this response was not necessary. Their wine was fine, but I will not be coming back for their service anytime soon.

This is a fancy and modern winery and a good spot on any wine tour. I would recommend people stop in and try their wines. The flight samples are great and the staff are generally friendly. My favorite wine was the Red Frosting -- absolutely delicious. Their whites weren't as delicious, but they have so many flavors. I did email the owner 5 days ago about accidentally double booking on a tour and a trolley tour, but she never emailed me back. However, within 1 hour of receiving my email address on a little form, she sent an email to advertise discounts and more wines. Not jazzed about it.

This was the third stop for wineries we made in the area. The guy who poured out wine, Jon, was super helpful and knowledgeable. The winery was surrounded by a bunch of land and it was nice inside. Not super cozy, but spacious and lots of natural light. We each tried a flight we enjoyed. Ignite was my favorite from them. We weren't there long, but the wine is worth stopping for.

They place is alright, but I have two issues. First, they have no crackers or pretzels to clean your pallet between wines on a sampling flight. Every other winery has this, why don't you? After a while, the wine all started tasting the same. I'm also not a fan of how pushy they are to get your personal information. Just to do a flight, you need to fill out a card with your name, address, phone number and email. If you try to leave it blank, they basically tell you that they must have that information. Obviously, they want to add you to all their junk mailing lists. Because of these two reasons (especially the latter), I won't be returning.

Stopped in to do a tasting this past weekend at Door 44 Vinyard and Winery. We do live in Door County and when we first moved here 12 years ago we visited all the wineries on a regular basis. But as time goes by it seems to be more of a tourist thing and the newness starts to dissappear. Door County has something for everyone, whether you're a serious wine a ficionado or just a casual drinker. Door 44 will meet your needs with great success in wine varieties from sweet to light bodied dry in selections. You have the option of building your own charcuterie board, a cheese board with wine options, or buying some local goods to pair with whatever wines you have selected. All this can be enjoyed in a wonderful indoor setting or on the patio overlooking the vinyards with tempatures that are hard to beat. You will more than likely be greeted by Claudia, the manager/cheerful host and directed to the tasting bar where Stephen with all his knowledge will help you with wine selections. Enjoy a weekday visit or a musical Saturday afternoon.

Absolutely phenomenal winery! Best one in wisconsin, hell, the world! That woman Claudia, talk about great service! A must stop in door county.

The wine is alright. The Red door is a good middle of the road. Serving us in plastic sample cups and no interaction diminishes the experience. Change that and it would totally make the drive worthwhile.

Love love love the space! New, clean, open, bright... super great spot to do a wine tasting! 5-stars for the space! The wines were not by cup of tea, so I'd give it 3-stars. But, when I think about Wisconsin wines, I don't expect the best of the best I guess. We went here on a tour and received 4 wines. I didn't really like the fact that after our samples, our only option was to buy a glass (or bottle) and we were not able to buy another flight of samples. Since we didn't get to choose what samples we got, there were a ton on the menu I would have wanted to try. But, sampling wasn't an option. Not sure if this is how things normally are. Or, if this is a side-effect of COVID. Either way... I'd recommend stopping here on your wine tasting journey through Door County!

Today was SO FUN thanks to door 44 & Claudia! We had an amazing time celebrating my brother's birthday and can't wait to come back

Just a quick update from our recent visit mid-September 2021! My previous review still holds true as well so please see that as well. They have figured out a good Covid-friendly way to do wine tasting! They give you a sheet with all the choices and you mark your four selections and turn it in at the tasting bar where your selections are poured and served on a cute paddle that you can take outside to the spacious, shaded patio or you can grab a table inside. We opted for outside as it was a gorgeous day! The selection had changed a bit since my last visit and I enjoyed trying new varieties. The F2 (red)was a winner for me along with the Blue Moon (white). I tend to like wines that are more on the dry side and these were both excellent. I liked the Petite Rose as well and I am not usually a huge fan of rose but enjoyed this enough to add a bottle to the selection I bought to take home. If you're looking for reasonably priced, non-fruity wines, at a locally owned winery, don't miss this place! It was great to see how everything looks post-construction!

We did a personal winery tour around Door County and Door 44 was my favorite one. They had a huge tent outside to accommodate for outdoor seating due to Covid and it offered some really nice shade from the heat. Wine flights were $7 for 4 samples. They had a good variety of reds and whites and even an option for ice wine. Staff were friendly, quick, and were wearing masks. I headed home with a few bottle that I will definitely be enjoying later.

So impressed by the service at Dorr 44. Claudia and Jon were fabulous and made us feel right at home. Wines to please both an experienced wine drinker and a novice. We had a blast.

Had a great time here. First time visitor. Margaret was extremely helpful and welcoming to our group. We had two flights and enjoyed a nice day and tasting on their patio. Bought a bottle of the Drink Pink, yummy! Would definitely come back again! Not sure how great of a visit it would be without nice weather. The best part was being outside.

Had a great time at this winery! Came for a bachelorette party, staff was extremely accommodating and the wine was great. Beautiful location. Good for large group occasions

Visited during COVID on a rainy day and was happy to find something to do while we couldn't go to the beach. It doesn't seem they normally have outdoor seating, but they've set up a tent outside for tasting with spaced out tables which was very nice. The service and servers were great, prices incredible ($7 for 4-flight tasting) and I got to try something new (Ice wine). All in all a great experience, so why 3-stars? Well aside from one tasting (which were all OK) I would have poured all the wine down the sink if I purchased the bottle at home.

This is not what we expected out of a "winery." 1) we weren't allowed inside and were taken to a tent and had to sit in plastic white chairs that were uncomfortable which isn't the best atmosphere to enjoy wines 2) wine tastings were served in plastic cups 3) the server dropped the wine tasting off and told us nothing about the wine! We didn't learn about the grapes, the alcohol content or anything about the wines which sure doesn't make it fun to enjoy or be inclined to purchase a bottle after the tasting 4) Giving them 2 star vs 1 because the wine was great tasting though.

Awesome experience. They serve 4 very generous tastings for $8. We usually like the freebie tastings at wineries, but felt this was well worth it. The person who served us took his time to thoroughly explain the wines. The lady who helped us was very nice. The bonus was the owner came out and we chatted about grape growing, making wine etc. Super friendly. Highly recommend this place as a wonderful experience onThe Door.

If you're looking an adult getaway activity, Door 44 Winery has a tasty selection of wine. It is the last weekend in October and my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to have beautiful sunshine over my birthday weekend. They serve 4 for $7. The assortments or wine is accompanied with live music. If you're looking for an outdoor atmosphere with fun festivities this is the best place for a you.

Surprisingly balanced and great wine! The staff is even better. You will not be disappointed visiting this gem.

My wife and I popped into Door44 in Sturgeon Bay by accident last weekend for our 30th wedding anniversary--and thanks to the server, CLAUDIA, had an unexpected great time. She couldn't have been more fun, helpful, and knowledgably about the wine. I just wanted to thank Claudia for helping to make our 30th anniversary a great one. THANK YOU, CLAUDIA!!! And thank you to the singer songwriter David Cavanaugh for setting the festive mood... Claudia and David both Rahhhhk!

I like to tour local wineries. Most of them offer wine tasting as does this one. The 44 in the name refers to the 44th parallel. The grapes grown for the wine are actually grown on the 44th parallel line in southern Door County. I'm not sure that makes them more special than any other ones, but they do produce a nice tasting wine. The wine associate was knowledgeable and offered several suggestions to help us find the perfect wine for a special occasion. After sampling several wines, my wife and I agreed on a sweet red which will go with a nice Italian meal on New Year's Eve.

We always stop at Door 44 Winery when we are in Door County. The wine is good and the staff are knowledgeable and fun! A special shout out to Claudia who is a jewel. We can't wait to go back.

Completely bizarre experience, was greeted by a friendly young hostess before being totally unacknowledged and flat out ignored at the bar. Several clear snubs before we finally just walked out. Had fantastic experiences at wineries further along north. Really turned off and unimpressed by this winery (have been wine tasting all over the world, never in such a stuck up establishment).

A delightful wayside on our drive to vacation. Wines for all tastes and palates. Samples are $7 for four which is completely reasonable. Our host Angela had great insight and information about the wines we sampled. We enjoyed our stop along the way for some delicious wines. Thank you!

We spent the weekend in Sturgeon Bay celebrating my dad's 85th birthday. We wanted a a few nice bottles of wine for his bday dinner so stopped here. They were busy so we didn't want to wait for the tasting. They gave us their menu and while deciding what we wanted, a very nice employee offered to give us a taste of a few we were considering. We purchased 4 bottles that were delicious! On our way out of town the next day we stopped and purchased 6 more bottles to take home. The wine is delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful.

This winery uses only grapes from Wisconsin, which impressed me. The wine tasting included 5 samples for a nominal fee and they threw in an additional sparkling wine as well. The price of their wines ranged from I believe, $17-$30, and the wines were not as sweet as I anticipated. The staff was friendly and Mel did my tasting. She provided a lot of great information about Door 44 and was very friendly. There was absolutely no pressure to purchase although I ended up taking home their port wine, called Cellar Door. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my experience!

Came here thanks to a recommendation from another winery who saw how much we loved the drier wines. Door 44 was awesome, the prices are reasonable and they were the only winery we saw that had Ice wine which was glorious! Denna was our sommelier and not only did she make some great wine recommendations but also persuaded us to try the Parador restaurant which was the best part of our Door County trip. If you're doing a wine tour of Door County definitely swing by Door 44 and don't be afraid to ask the staff for recommendations!

They have a great dessert wine selection, & The manager was very friendly and courteous. She even volunteered to take our photo.
