Door County, Wisconsin’s best restaurants | Eater Chicago

"Fudge is a Fish Creek tradition, and thus tends to get top billing among all the sweet treats in the region. Door County Confectionary has been putting out some of the best in area — alongside other delectable hits like English toffee and saltwater taffy — for nearly 50 years. Patrons can find additional outposts in Ephraim, Sister Bay, and Sturgeon Bay." - Naomi Waxman

I make sure to buy some salt water taffy from the confectionery every summer when I’m in door county. They have delicious cherry caramels, homemade licorice, candy by the pound and some delicious chocolates. Kids and adults love it!

Prices are a bit high. The cashier seemed upset or uncaring of who was in the store or what anyone wanted. Customer service is lacking here. Other than that, cute little shop and the chocolates are pretty good.

As others have mentioned the store has been here for a long long time and overall is pretty consistent. The kids love going here to get a little bit of candy you can't find at other stores, but if you're going to be honest the prices are a lot higher than you would find most anywhere else. That is most likely a product of being in Door County as many things in the area are a little overpriced but it is what it is makes the kids happy so it works for us.

Very nice chocolate / candy shop in the center of Fish Creek. Lots of great chocolate choices and old timers candies. No ice cream served here.

The cashier charged me 3 times for the same bag of candy, she said that card didn't scan, twice with my credit card and once with my debit. I told the cashier that I hope I don't get charged 3 times, she just shrugged, like it was no big deal. Tried contacting the store no answer and couldn't leave a message. Will not be back.

I love this place but they need to pull all the items that yellow 5 in it such as the lemon drops. Was disappointed finding out a lot of the items have dyes in them.

When I was little my grandmother and grandfather would take us and my brother and I would load up. Waaaaaaaay too much but those giant pixie sticks? The first time I saw the taffy tub on here I immediately had a visceral reaction. I could smell the sweet melodic air. Man. I have to get back.

Normally I would - but I had the worst experience ever at this store. I have been going to this store since I was a child and brought my children there today. The employee there was the rudest individual that has ever served me at any Confectionery. At check out, I accidentally place my money on the candy scale and this employee barked at me that I wasn't allowed to put my money there - I moved my money and said "Sorry" He looked at me and told me he "didn't like my attitude". I told him a didn't give him attitude - and that I didn't see the sign about placing money on the scale. He said he didn't care and that he wasn't going to serve me. I again said to him that I was sorry and he said "my store - my rules; I'm not serving you" and took my bag of candy and placed it behind him. I asked him if he was serious and he said "yes... get out" 😐 I'm not sure why this individual is so crabby that he has to treat people like this; he was very unfriendly to the other patrons before me. He is definitely not a good face for the Confectionery.

Yelp
Super cute candy shop in the heart of Fish Creek. They have lots to look at and a wide variety of candy options for your sweet tooth. I purchased a pre bagged bag of chocolate covered gummies. It was well packaged and was perfect for snacking when I got back to my hotel.

Yelp
Great candy especially if you're looking for something "old style". I can never resist their homemade dark chocolate options from the case, the dark chocolate cashew turtle is my favorite. A little pricey but it's a small town candy shop so checks out.

Yelp
Dylan, who claimed to be the General Manager, tonight, 1 September 2022, let us know that he was going to be good only after the season which was too long this year and he was stuck working 80 hours a week... was going to be over soon, after my wife asked if he could try to give us a happy face... He had just closed out the credit card machine at 15 minutes before closing at 9pm and cash only... What did I do wrong he asked after my wife left in a rage??? Dylan needs a new job that doesn't over work him so he can not be pissy and also piss off his customers. Yea f he would prefer to not work with additional customers then shut the doors and shut off the lights and clock out for the day. Poor way to ruin it for someone who was enjoying their 38th wedding anniversary and just wanted a little something sweet to round off their wonderful evening in Door County... thanks anyway , Dylan

Yelp
We haven't been here in 5 years, but we always go here a few times on our trip except for this past one. We got our fudge and it's now pre-package in a plastic container. It's horrible. To cut a piece out is messy and not easy. When we were done, we're trying to dig out what's left. The fudge didn't taste as fresh either, like it's been sitting in the plastic container for a few days. It's not the same and we'll probably try other places in the area, even if we have to drive. When we got the fudge in the past (and other fudge places), they would cut us a block and put it in a box. It was easy to cut a piece out and easy to get it all. As you can see from my photo, I still have a lot left in there trying to get it out.

Yelp
Shop looked cool on the outside. On the inside, there is homemade fudge and chocolates, but who knows when they were made? In addition, a lot of the packaging is actually not made locally, and has things like HARIBO Raspberries on it. So at least some of it is just re-packaged and marked up candy. They had Christmas plushes still on the shelf, I don't think they ever pack them away. Weird. Anyway, mostly overpriced candy and novelty items.

Yelp
When I visit a local candy shop with my kids, I am looking for actual candy made locally or at least in the USA. At one point my one son had several candies and each were made from china or mexico. Canada is fine, but china, really. USA has amazing candy so actually sell it. I will come to the store one more time and hope that the china stays in china. The location is really nice, the product, Ehh, not so much

Yelp
What a great place to indulge your sweet tooth! Lots of choices and the next one better than the last. Very helpful and friendly staff pointed us in the right direction. We are partial to anything with dark chocolate, which isn't always easy to find. Loved the selections and fair prices in the middle of Door County's vacationland.

Yelp
The woman in the fudge shoppe was rude beyond belief. My visit was during COVID 19 and all safety rules were followed, which was great. The person behind the counter was a heavier set female with brunette. I asked a couple questions about the coffee and fudge and I think she rolled her eyes 4-5 times. I asked if I could have an almond latte and 1 puns of fudge . The fudge was good but the coffee was watery and the cup so hot it burned my hand when the lid came open. Some coffee spilled on the counter. She told me I could clean it up and pointed to the paper towels. It took 30 minutes to get the coffee and fudge with only 2 people I. The shop. I will never go there again. There are many fudge shops where people are happy to sell their products.

Yelp
Shut the door on my kid and nephews face after closing 15 minutes early - making them cry. Unbelievable.

Yelp
This place is cute and for someone who can only have candy sweetened with dextrose that has to be gluten and dairy free.. I'm excited to say they had 3 options of candy for me.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to stop for candy when I come to visit. The salt water taffy is the best I've ever had and I make to grab a bag when I am in town.

Yelp
The Fish Creek branch of this Door County chain has a beautiful picnic spot and oodles of glorious candy. A bathtub filled with candy... Shelves filled with candy... So much candy!
