Food Delivery Workers Forced to Promote Ballot Measure That Decides Their Fate | Eater SF
"I observed San Francisco–based food delivery company DoorDash escalate its promotion of Prop 22 by emailing partner restaurants to request free takeout bags emblazoned with “Yes on 22” and asking them to use those bags through Election Day, a move that effectively asks delivery drivers to ferry political messaging that critics say would deny them workplace rights; the company directed Eater SF to Prop 22 spokesperson Geoff Vetter in response, has been sued by San Francisco’s District Attorney for alleged unfair labor practices, and raised $400 million in financing this June that valued it at $16 billion, while organizers and at least one anonymous restauranteur called the tactic ethically problematic and exploitative." - Eve Batey
