I have heard nothing but good things about D.O.P and so, was very looking forward to trying it out. Off to lunch my husband and I went. They don't have a specific lunch menu, it is the same offerings and price as their dinner menu, with the exception of having a feature sandwich for lunch.
For starters, we ordered their Grilled Bread ($10, although they were nice enough to offer a half order instead for $5), as well as their White Anchovies ($12) and the Smoked Beef Fat Cracker ($14). For a main, we had the Raviolo ($33). Tiramisu for dessert as well as an Espresso Martini.
The Grilled Bread was surprisingly delicious. As another reviewer stated, the Anchovy was quite inoffensive and I think it's good for even people who don't usually like anchovies (me). The Smoked Beef Fat Cracker was a very interesting & unique offering, but I found it quite salty. I was happy I ordered it to try it once but I wouldn't order it again.
For me, the Raviolo was where there is room for improvement. It was perfectly executed, al dente with egg yolk oozing out of it. Although that feature and overall presentation made it an interesting and unique dish, it was nothing fantastic. Was it unique and technically perfect in terms of execution? -Yes. But for me, when I closed my eyes and paid attention to the taste, it's not a dish I would think about again or crave, and that is what I was expecting of D.O.P. Also, the price point of $33 was pretty steep in my opinion.
Tiramisu was a nice way to end a meal, and my husband said the Espresso Martini was very well made.
Service was absolutely fantastic and it is a very cute, small spot.
I would recommend trying at least once but I don't see myself returning.
