On a recent visit to Manerbio for business, I made the trip to Dopolavoro for the first time on Tuesday, and then again on Friday. I would have gone here every night if I could have done, it was exceptional.
It is quite a modern and trendy place, with ample seating for drinks as well as many pristine, well-placed tables for dining. The food menu is small but precise, and covers vegetarian dishes (and a vegan one, if you so prefer) as well as traditional “carne” classics from Italy.
The staff are excellent, well trained, attentive, and knowledgeable, and their grasp of English to an ignorant foreign visitor such as myself who hasn’t yet learned sufficient Italian to get by is excellent. They certainly make the place a lovely, relaxing atmosphere in which to dine.
The food is exemplary. I sampled the pesto linguine with fire roasted tomatoes and burrata for my first visit, as well as the chocolate fondant with a “soft heart” and both were exceptionally well executed. My second visit entailed a vegetable pizza, the crust of which was as soft as an angels bosom, and twice as tasty. Lovely.
The beer is excellent, as they stock one of my rare favourites I was surprised to say the least to find they stocked. The wine wall is a place of dreams. Quite why this place has 4.4 and not more like 4.9/5 is beyond me.
If you are in the area, give it a go. You won’t regret it, I assure you. And the prices aren’t that bad either, compared to the UK…
