NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Clinton Hill’s Doppelgänger bills itself as the spot for beer and crokinole in NYC. Now that we’ve googled crokinole, it’s a disk-flicking game with elements of shuffleboard. Since opening their doors in mid-May, they’ve also hosted Los Burritos Juarez for a weekly pop-up, so swing by on a Friday to pair your crokinole with a burrito." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Doppelgänger - Review - Clinton Hill - New York - The Infatuation

"The Fort Greene/Clinton Hill area isn't known for its bars. It’s got one dive where you should never order beer on tap, a few wine bars, and a Latin American restaurant with ice-cold margaritas. But then Doppelgänger arrived, making this neighborhood a significantly more fun place to get tipsy. The Myrtle Avenue bar is sort of a dive, but it also makes a great martini, and has candlelight that lends well to a romantic date with the possibility of a beer-shot combo. There's also a big emphasis on their house game crokinole, which has no relation to cornhole (and is played sitting down). If you manage to snag a table, they promise they’ll teach you. Above all, it's a bar for a neighborhood that needed one, with frequent pop-ups, mixed olives, and a leafy backyard called The Beertanical Garden. photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore Pause Unmute" - Willa Moore

The food pop-ups are a lot of fun and the bartenders are great. The beer selection is good, too. It can get pretty crowded, especially when it comes to crokinole tables, but it’s extremely chill during the days.

Such a great place. Awesome beer, wine & cocktails. Lovely backyard. Cool unique tabletop games in the back area. Knowledgeable friendly staff. If you are in that neighborhood go. If you aren’t then now you have a great reason to

Awesome new bar. I went there with a friend to play cards and the owners were super hospitable. I watched some other folks play a bar game I had never heard of before called "Crokinole." Looked fun; I want to give it a go next time. Good draft list. Definitely going back!

I live in the neighborhood and was sad to see Cardiff giant leave but decided to try this place out with my friend a couple weeks ago. We got a beer and a shot each and I turned my back for a second and my shot glass was gone. I told the bartender and as he, seemingly annoyed, went to pour me another shot, he said in a low voice “should have been watching your drink”. I asked him if I heard him correctly and he started apologizing and said he didn’t mean it like that but I said forget it. I paid for the drinks and we left without finishing our drinks. I understand it’s my responsibility to watch my drink, sorry I turned my back for a second but the comment was weird and rude and made me uncomfortable. Will not be going back, I miss the friendly neighborhood bar.
