I have been coming here for years. I love the food and usually love the smiley student staff. However, yesterday I have never been treated worse in a restaurant. The manager (likely the son of the owner) is often very rude. He does not smile or say thank you. He seems to treat every customer with contempt.
But yesterday he was flat-out aggressive. There was a mix up with my order, so I patiently waited for it to be completed. (This was not my fault, but the restaurants, but I didn't make any issue of it or even have time.) This hostile young man (the manager), however, screams at me whilst i'm talking to his female colleague. It was so inappropriate and rude.
The restaurant got my order wrong but somehow he's screaming at me and wanting to know what I've received so far. He lost his temper and shouted at me almost within a second of (his tiny!) issue arising. It took me aback. I had literally just been handed the order so I obviously did not know if i'd been given the correct items or not. He then turns and complains about me to another member of staff. God forbid he apologise for the mix up or for his extraordinary shouting episode.
I have never been spoken to so rudely. I felt embarrassed and attacked. I did not want to escalate the situation so I just left, stunned. Nobody should ever talk to anyone like that, but especially not to loyal paying customers. I am a life long New Yorker, and I know some places have quick fiery service, however, this was objective hostility and disrespect. In no world could this behaviour be confused as the former.
Perhaps embarrassingly, this incident has rather stuck with me. It was very unpleasant. Perhaps he is a bully, perhaps he is a lazy kid who never learnt manners or customer service. Who knows? He's clearly very entitled. I suggest he find his own work, if he deems working at his dad's Mexican so beneath him.
I have been a loyal customer for almost a decade and I will NEVER go back. Nor will my wife and kids. And hopefully our loyal friends will refrain as well.
I will miss the tacos! Adios
