Things to Do This Weekend in Boston | Eater Boston

"A worker-owned community grocery launching after more than a decade of planning, opening with a free celebration that includes a ribbon-cutting by the mayor, music, vendor sampling, and opportunities to meet the store’s members. The cooperative aims to showcase local vendors and become a neighborhood hub for food access and community engagement." - Nathan Tavares

I deliver to this store and it's always one of my favorite stops because the people that work there are so nice and helpful. The last time I delivered there it was a cold and downpouring I was getting soaked Sandra I think she may be the Manager saw me getting drenched by the rain and insisted I got a hot plate of food before I left. It's little things like this that give me hope again great people always a pleasure delivering there thought id share my experience.

Discrimination here is rampant 1st time going here and a few other times nothing but cussing in another language. I'm not sure what policy that is but its disgusting .If you speak only English great if not be prepared for foul language and to be called names in another language they think you dont speak or understand. Foul language seems to be a regular practice among the employees at the register. Some pretending not to know english with a bad attitude or as a relative of mine experienced cashier that doesn't understand english on the pos system and at all barely getting through the transaction. One cashier doesnt even know how to use the register. You end up with multiple single items scan 2 or more times incorrect cash back. The cashier fails to understand and can't explain to you how the rewards program works and its benefits. Customers shouldn't need a translator to go shopping with them nor be cussed at, double charged, or here from english speaking relatives how they couldn't sign up or get help they needed due to language barrier. Its a decent store but the employees with there hateful words yuck. Alot of the items here are over priced some stuff reasonably priced and very few items cheaper then stop n shop. Once you get past the poor customer service and foul language its an OK place. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT for correct change if paying with cash. CHECK YOUR RECEIPT for the number of items you purchased because they double scan item's here. Could be the discrimination tax idk Hopefully the foul language thing is taken care of.

This place has been fighting an uphill battle since day one, and I give them a lot of credit for sticking with it. They’ve steadily improved their operations while continuing to offer something truly rare — a community-run food co-op — in a city increasingly dominated by corporate grocery chains. The recent upgrades to the produce section and the thoughtful re-merchandising of the store have made a real impact. It now feels more accessible, better stocked, and easier to navigate. I’ve been able to cover most, if not all, of my weekly shopping in one visit — with prices comparable to Stop & Shop. I sincerely hope they continue to prosper and grow their customer base. It won’t be easy, but what they’re doing is meaningful and absolutely worth supporting.

I recently used Dorchester Food Co-Op to cater a lunch event at work. I am impressed. The food is fresh, delicious and affordable. The staff were great to work with. My order was packed up really well and ready to go when I picked it up. I will totally use them again for catering events.

Neat grocer with nice bulk foods selection and unique finds even by Whole Foods-standards in the grocery and freezer sections. Prepared food available. Co-op membership not necessary to shop.

Clean bright grocery store . Parking allowed in the lot next to it . Good selection of fresh produce , vegan “ meats and cheeses” , lots of bulk items , big selection of fermented goods . Nice cafe with a selection of hot fresh prepared foods . Many items are made locally . A free little library , lots of postings about local events . Nice staff . Plus , it’s a co-op ! Good for the neighborhood and the local economy
