Doris Italian Market & Bakery (Sunrise)

The store is very clean and well organized, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do. But the real star here is the bakery — it’s absolutely out of this world. My personal favorite is the chocolate rum ball — rich, moist, and perfectly balanced. The mini chocolate cannoli are incredible, with creamy filling and a crisp shell. The cannoli cookie is also delicious and unique. We took some pastries home, and even after being left overnight in the refrigerator, they were still fresh and tasted amazing the next day. We heard they also have another location in Pembroke Pines, which we’re excited to try next. If it’s anything like the Sunrise store, we know it’ll be fantastic. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian pastries and market goodies!

Store smells amazing. Great selection of beer and wine. Was able to get 1lb of chicken cacciatore with roasted brussel sprouts and mushrooms for $11.

What a nice market with fresh fruits, veggies, amazing wine selection and delicious meats, frozen gnocchi and pastas. I went to get some mascarpone... ended up buying the strawberries, cheese bagels and frozen muscles. But I will be back with more time to find more new goodies. 🍝🧀🍒🍓

This place is fantastic and the prices are great! I moved here nearly 2 months ago and have been looking for alternatives to that the P and this has most of the stuff I need except coke, toilet paper, dog food, etc. that I would not expect to find here anyway. So I made a quick stop at the P! I needed to get shrimp for lunch tomorrow and the lady at the seafood section was delightful. She was so enthusiastic about the Argentinian shrimp I was buying. Really high quality and nice people, what a combo!

I've been shopping there with my girlfriend, Maria for over 3 years. This market sells top quality produce. Everything is so fresh and well laid out on shelves. The staff is pleasant. I've been getting eggs, bread, fruits and tuna salad there on a monthly basis. Everything is superb! I'll never stop shopping there. When i get fruits from Doris they don't go bad easily. I often wonder where they get these produce from. Amazed and happy to have found this place. Thanks to Uncle Bucks!

Love this place. However the past two times I stopped in and picked up a dozen cannoli the shells were soft. I will need to request freshly made from now on. I pick for the day needed. Going first thing in the morning is not good getting yesterday's batch. That is fine for cookies, cakes, etc, not hard shell cannoli.

I swung by before heading home, and everything felt surprisingly smooth and well-organized. The sourdough was warm and fresh, and you can tell they take baking seriously. I regretted not buying an extra one. the whole place felt tidy, from the tables to the restrooms. the line looked long but moved faster than I thought. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely worth a visit.

Good solid Italian market! Lots of authentic flavors to explore. There is a neighborhood market vibe. They're also very helpful if you're looking for something specific (my last visit I was specifically looking for guanciale) and good suggestions as well!

Catering for a work event was impeccable! Beautiful presentation, large portions for good price, and food was delicious. I am not a huge lasagna fan and I loved this one! The garlic knots were tasty as well.

My Fiancé and I had the honor and the opportunity to come to this wonderful establishment.The wine everything there was affordable and just entering to this market felt like italy. Service was absolutely wonderful and I would recommend to come to this place for a good meal.Or pick up some good wine.

Bring me back to little Italy, Arthur Ave in the Bronx. Nice varieties of meat, cuts pasta, pasta sauce, sausages, and a great selection in the pastry shop as well

Wanted some dessert so I went to Doris and tried their pretty cake which is vanilla and chocolate cake with a raspberry filling and icing on the outside with sprinkles. It's pretty decent size plus I got carrot cake and a mini fudge cake. Everything was good except the chocolate cake, which I thought was a little dried and had a good flavor, but the cake itself was dried. The others were moist and the carrot cake was delicious. The time I went was around closing time, so there were not many people, but the Bakery staff was very attentive and helped me and answered all my questions Store looked neat and well put away, and the shelves were pretty much stocked. I only went there for cakes, so I didn't really go to the back to the meat section or look around. Definitely recommend a quick stop if you're looking for a little sweet treat.

Very clean and organized store. Stopped in to crave a sweet tooth & went straight to the bakery. This place was stocked with different pastries. We picked up cheesecake slices and limoncello cake. Oreo Cheesecake was definitely a hit just wish it was bigger for almost 7bucks for a slice. Was also impressed with the produce and deli section will be back soon to try out other delights. Lady at bakery was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was told the rum cake was a must try.

Food is great, service top notch and ambiance buzzing with excitement. Everywhere you turn you see happy customers. I'm never disappointed at this market. Highly recommend them.

Coming into this Doris Italian Market & Bakery was definitely a uniquie experience that will not go away anytime soon. This location is just four miles from our home with a very easy drive and entrance off Knob Hill. A big parking lot pretty much guarantees you a spot. ( I found one in seconds during the Thanksgiving pickup parade.) Walking around this store was just so much fun. Great inventory of products including an incredible selection of wines. This place seems to have it all. Great vegetables, meat, fish and all the items that go with it. They are also known for all their incredible prepared foods. This truly is your one stop food shopping. I was here to pick up my Thanksgiving order. Even through there were many people on the line it went very smoothly. The team members here are all knowledgeable and friendly. This is truly a great food shopping experience. I feel I have to say that I do not understand the one and two star reviews. Clearly they do not represent the majority of the reviews here. I guess people will always find something to complain about. KUDOs to the team at Doris Italian Market & Bakery!

Doris has such a cozy amazing feeling to shop at. I don't come here as much as I should but every time I do, I leave with a lot more than what I came for. The deli is amazing . Their soups are great. And their service and selection is uniquely their own.

They get points for Varity. I love their coffee and pastries the cappuccino and tiramisu are great options. So are the Italian cookies. They have a small seating area if you want to unwind for a little bit. Staff are okay but often keep to themselves.

As a New Yorker who no longer can get Italian food and pastry Doris was amazing. I felt like a kid in a candy store. They had almost everything I was looking for

I used to shop at this location often but since moving back to Davie, this was out of the way for me. It is worth the trip for specific items I cannot find anywhere else but you can find almost everywhere in NYC. I love Italian food. I'm a tiny part Italian and grew up in an Italian neighborhood. Our first Doris experience was the Coral Springs location but that is even farther than this location for us. There are always staples I buy at Doris, no matter the location. I stop always at the deli counter and bakery counter to order food. Their produce is usually good and very nicely priced. As you can see from my photo, the meat could not even make it to the expiration date so that is no longer an item I purchase. My favorites include the garlic toasts, focaccia, rainbow cookies, stuffed peppers, marinara, mozzarella, chicken Milanese. I also used to purchase other items but they started to taste like windex after several attempts of purchasing so I stopped (napoleon pastry and penne a la vodka). The guys in the deli can be rude, for example, one time I was ordered mortadella and he attempted to insult me by accusing me of not saying it correctly, which I said it the same exact way he did. Whatever makes you feel good, fine ‍. So after that, I stayed away from the deli many times. They had wine events all the time before COVID and they are starting to resume them again. Those were our favorite! We sampled some of their foods and so many wines. We have our favorite wines and most of them were sourced from a Doris Wine event.

They have a beautiful selection of fresh products and a very friendly staff. The amount of items in this Market is incredible from fish too hand made sandwiches.

Freshest Italian food outside of Italy ! Friendly staff and freshest foods. Come in and see for your self. They have it all . From fresh fish to vegetables to homemade desserts. You will not be disappointed. They even have a section where they sell Italian merchandise.. Life laugh and cook Italian!

Excellent store with a large assortment of Italian cuisine. The bakery serves some of the region's best desserts, particularly the sfogliatelle. Their homemade beef sauce is also excellent. It's definitely a pleasant spot to visit.

I love Doris! It's always super clean and organized here. Their meats and fish are super fresh and reasonably priced. I love that they sell homemade salad dressings, pizza dough, bread crumbs and sauce. I come here for special date nights where I want to cook at home, but get some premade items from the deli. Makes my life easier and you can't be the quality.

Doris carries so many Italian favorites that I used to get in Brooklyn, NY. Their cakes and pastries are all delicious. U can't find all these Italian foods in Florida north of Palm Beach. The staff is very helpful. The store is set up so u can find what ur looking for. Glad I live close to the Doris Italian Market in Sunrise.

Super clean, staff is super kind especially the cashiers!! My husband and I frequent this location and its always an enjoyable experience to get our groceries and try new ítems.

Extremely upset with the service of the staff. I ordered catering for my daughters birthday from Doris. My husband went to pick up the food and was ignored by the staff members when he got there, in particular the woman working in the deli. Finally, I had to call to get some information as to why nobody was helping my husband get the catering order for pickup since he's been standing around waiting for 15 minutes. He finally got the food and left. He returned the next day to return the wooden boards the 2 subs we ordered were served on. He walked in straight to the deli where the woman was working again today. Right when she saw him she told him he needed to be careful with holding the boards. She is extremely rude and unprofessional. My husband was holding two 3ft long boards. It's not like he was throwing them around. She should really not be in the industry serving customers if she has that kind of personality. Be nice/happy.

Their baked goods cannot be beat. This is a must-stop for me when I visit South Florida. Seven-layer cake is superb, and all the cookies are delicious

I have been shopping at Doris' for years. I was in the store on Saturday 2/24 and I have never been so disgusted as I was at the overall appearance. It was if no one cared. I am going to go back to the Coral Springs, FL store it has always been the best store in Broward County. Sunrise no longer get my dollars.

Not a good experience today, 10/18/2024; I decided to stop at this Doris on way just before 6pm. I originally stopped in for tuna sub, but seeing the conch fitters in the display case I decided to get that instead. The person working behind the counter really needs help with his customer relations skills. I was willing wait until he finish with the lobster claws, icing them and helping the other customer came before me, but when another customer who came after me point out to the person working counter that I was there before him I knew there's a problem in your store(s), I have shopped at your Pembroke Pines store and I last visit there I had to post about also. I'm not posting to get anyone fired because for many years I have been a happy customer until these last visits. But that young man's customer relations skill was rather lacking needs to be improved in hurry or he may not be dealing with someone next time who was as patient and/or has control of his temper as I do, my goodness I even took a number from the dispenser in seafood which I thought was an indication I wanted service. Instead of losing my temper I thought this is a better forum to point out a problem which a life lesson needed to be taught.

One of the prettiest grocery stores I have seen in sunrise to date. It is clean and the food doesn't only look appealing and appetizing but it is! The meat looks grade A+ and beautiful. The pastries are to die for and if you want to try something fabulous try the prepared meat pie. Fabulous place!

food and bakery amazing. staff is very accommodating and helpful. the cannoli birthday cake I ordered was not only delicious. It was delivered right on time. Everything was perfect from ordering to picking up. Thank you Doris'

Doris deli counter is amazing - its hard to leave without spending st least $50!! The bakery just as good! The shrimp pasta salad is great most of the times- sometimes you have to add mayo Everything is terrific, little pricey, but terrific

It's unfortunate that the service in the prepared food/salad bar is so poor because their food is great and most of the other staff members are kind and professional. Here's the problem. The store closes at 6:30pm M-F and on multiple occasions I've arrived 30 mins. prior to closing time and they have already removed salad bar items or removed all the utensils to grab the food. When you ask them about it, they have a snippy attitude, and say that they're preparing to close. People work outside of Doris and rush to get there before closing only to get the employees starting to close shop 30 minutes before their actual closing time. This section of the store needs attention from upper management.

Extremely disappointed in the bakery department. We purchased several different desserts for a large Italian gathering, only to find that everything was flavorless, bland and tasteless . From the cannoli, Boston cream cake, coconut cream pie, (which had no crust) to rum baba ( which was sweetened with sugar water-gross! everything tasted the same. Growing up eating pastries is something my family is accustom to and this is a far cry from what they should taste like. Needless to say this will be out last visit to Doris's in Sunrise and we will not be recommending this store to anyone.

I used to love coming here. Mostly for the Crab Salad. This weekend I was there to pick up my usual pound and a half. To my dismay it seemed oddly different. I asked the gentlemen behind the counter if they started mincing it up or changed the recipe, to which he rudely responded "NO". I feel like I am eating minced cat food currently. Why did you get rid of the chunks? Im all for a business saving a couple bucks, but why hide it from the customers.

Doris's Italian Market has been around for years. They have five locations, three in Broward and two in Palm Beach. I've been shopping at this market since it was at their previous location off of Broward Blvd. This store is bright, clean and well stocked. The customer service is friendly and helpful. It's located in a shopping plaza with ample parking but it does get busy on the weekends. This market has a produce, meat/poultry/fish, deli/prepared foods and bakery sections. They carry a variety of speciality Italian products as well as other items you may find at a traditional supermarket. They also offer catering. I've shopped in each section at one point or another. However there is one section of Doris's I frequent the most. I walk-in, bob & weave amongst people & carts and go straight for the bakery ;) They have a large array of cookies, cakes, pies, pastries and many other Italian baked goodies. Whenever I have a craving for Italian sweet treats, Doris' is where I go to get my fix.

Wow It is like stepping out of a time machine into then1950's. A real old time butcher shop and grocery. Pricey, but well worth it.

I was born and raised in NYC and I was excited to go into Doris to finally find delicious cookies and pastries like I use to have back in the Bronx. The service was great, the ambiance of the store was nice but the taralli cookies were hard as rocks! And not cheap either @ 11.98 a pound. I paid $4.06 for 4 cookies which were not fresh. Also the Linzer cookie was also very disappointing. The mini St. Joseph pastries with cannoli were good and that is why I gave two stars and not one.

I wish wish wish Doris had a market in the Orlando area. I'd be there weekly buying something from each department. Oh, and they still aren't charging enough for the apple crumb cake!

Where do you go when you crave a good steak or a fresh cut of fish? And it's a small place with huge variety of fruits and veggies and prepared dishes and feels safe and clean ? This is it. I wanted fresh salmon and I didn't want to go to a large crowded spot and Doris is always on the money. The store has a counter with fresh cut meats and another counter all seafood. And then the deli with prepared dishes. I bought a beautiful piece of salmon and a lot of veggies. I'm always confident it's going to be good. Right now I'm following a strict food regiment and found all I wanted. And if you want a tasty goodie the bakery is wonderful with a huge variety. Check out at the end and get the real Italian flavor from the decor and the kind staff. My kind of place if you want to cook or buy prepared you can't go wrong at Doris.

I've been coming to Doris Italian Market for over twenty years. Even going back to the original little store on Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, FL. They now have multiple locations and I was at the Sunset Strip location in Sunrise, FL. It's one of their larger markets. The minute you walk in, you're surrounded by the freshest produce and the most red tomatoes you've even seen. If you walk to the left and have a sweet tooth, be prepared to see cases filled with homemade cookies, cakes, pastries and so much more. It's absolutely DECADENT. As you stroll the far left isle, you'll come upon all their fresh homemade dishes and there's quite a selection. As you follow the outside perimeter, you'll encounter their deli meats and cheeses cut to order. Their primary meats and cheeses are Boars Heard, but they have many other premium deli meats and cheeses! Next comes the fresh fish display case followed by THE BEST BUTCHER SHOP DISPLAY CASE YOU EVER SAW. They carry some USDA choice cuts, but it you want the best they have USDA Prime and there's a difference in the ratings of meet. Trust me!. They do have a nice area of steaks and other meats already cut and packaged, but no order is too small for them. You can even call it in so it's ready upon your arrival. The rest of the store has special selected wines and Italian foods you won't find at Publix. If you've never been...you must find the nearest location to you and go. Immediately!

i love their amaretto cookies and rainbow cookies! a little pricey but definitely a crowd pleaser! brings back good childhood memories!

Really great place, loved everything, such an interesting place with so many products that I do not normally see. We got some real good choices and enjoyed everything we purchased. I wish we could have this place in Fayetteville, NC. On vacation in Florida so found this jewel and love it so much.

This is a unique grocery store that has a great bakery. They have a great variety of Italian pastries and Jewish cookies. The deli has prepared dishes sold by the pound and everything from tuna salad to eggplant parmesan. The seafood dept. also has prepared salads and fresh fish and shellfish. The butcher is probably their best department in my opinion. They have a wonderful sausage variety as well as Prime and USDA meats. I think their produce area is a bit small and over priced but they do offer the convenience of one stop food shopping. The variety of wines are also spectacular. So many for every country. In the frozen food section, they have a pasta variety that would fill most bellies. Doris Market is a great neighborhood market for me but I think I would drive from the other side of town if I wanted to shop for some unique foods both cooked or as a home prepared meal.

This place reminds me so much of the Italian owned market/deli in my hometown back in Upstate NY. The delicious smells were even the same. Fortunately, this store was a bit bigger than my NY shop and has more inventory. This business is located in a small, but busy strip mall. On our first trip here we ended up spending about $30 for 2 packages of gnocchi, a very large package of frozen manicotti, 2 jars of sauce and 2 pizza doughs. We didn't get any of the bakery items from here, but they look amazing! To me, shopping here is comparable to Trader Joe's in a way. I go to TJ maybe once a month to buy some specialty items, that's probably the same way I would shop at this market. I will still do the majority of my shopping at Publix or Super Walmart. So far we made one meal from here and it turned out great. We used a jar of vodka sauce and gnocchi, what an amazing meal and we saved a lot by eating in. I LOVED the vodka sauce! The sauces here are on the higher priced side by a few bucks, but it's nice to have a better quality sauce with less additives. Be sure to check the use by dates on the items, I noticed a few items that were close to the expiration date. I can't wait to try the pizza dough from here.

A mom and pop shop that has the freshest products! This is in a plaza next door to the restaurant, Tin Fish. They have all your grocery needs. The deli, a salad bar, seafood counter, etc. I came here specifically for their bakery section. There were so many different desserts to choose from! Thy also sell beer and various of other specialty drinks; I saw carbonated espresso, didn't try it yet but it looked interesting! They offer catering, custom gift baskets, and weekly specials. I noticed they did some wine tasting events but haven't check it out yet. The store was clean and very Italian. The employees were friendly and quick to serve. This is definitely a good spot for some meats, cheese, and produce. They had a very small ice cream section; I was looking for Klondike bars but they didn't have any. I look forward to shopping here more often! They have bakery locations throughout south Florida.

Great place to by fresh food and at great prices. Very clean and organized. I often go for whole meats and have them cut into steaks. Best option for ultimate flavors of your favorite cuts.

Came here yesterday 12/1/22 Went to the deli 3 women standing around talking one man serving his own lunch , felt like I was invisible. Finally took my order when I open my lunch meat it had an off shade color like brownish . Sell by date was 12/1. Feeling let down by this store and the associate for selling me meat that was obviously not good. Next time I'll drive further take my business elsewhere.
