Dorlan's Tavern & Oyster Bar

Dorlan's, located in the historic South Street Seaport in New York City, is a fantastic spot that perfectly balances a classic pub atmosphere with high-quality food and drinks. I recently went there and was thoroughly impressed, especially by their take on comfort food classics. My friends and I were craving something hearty, and we were not disappointed. We ordered a big chicken sandwich and a juicy burger to share, and both were outstanding. The chicken sandwich was a true showstopper—perfectly fried to a golden crisp while remaining incredibly moist and tender on the inside. It was a generous size and had a fantastic, flavorful crunch with every bite. The burger was equally impressive. It was cooked to a perfect medium, with a patty so juicy and rich that it practically melted in your mouth. The classic toppings and a toasted bun made for a flawless burger experience. What made the meal even better were the sides and drinks. The fries were a perfect companion, hot and crispy, and just the right amount of salt. And the cocktails were excellent. We each had a few different ones, and they were all expertly mixed and well-balanced—they weren't just an afterthought but a highlight of the meal. The entire place has a warm and inviting vibe, and the staff was friendly and attentive. For a spot that feels like a cozy neighborhood tavern but serves up incredible, elevated pub fare and great drinks, Dorlan's is a definite winner.

I’ve been here a few times with the family, and the food has been excellent during previous visits, which is why we chose to return recently. Most of the dishes were great, but unfortunately, the hamburger sliders were severely undercooked. One of the servers (not the one attending to us) took the sliders back with the intention of correcting the raw patties, only to return with them still undercooked. It appeared they put our half-chewed sliders back into the oven or a plate to try to cook them, but they were still raw. We had to tell the server that we did not want the raw ground beef patties. Our actual server was friendly and took the sliders off our bill. We will be returning, but likely will not be trying the sliders again.

I came with low expectations on a Sun eve, and walked away impressed. Solid 4.2 here. They started me off on the flavored house popcorn, within the first 2 minutes, which set the pace for my speedy (roadrunner) experience. The mango avocado salad appeared in like 60 seconds after ordered, was mostly arugula with a smattering of mango and tomatoes - Dorlans must have felt the recent tariff hit on the avos so really hard to track down, or maybe just didn't have time - good healthy taste overall. The fish n chips was very good, good beer batter and fresh fish. Now if I could only replace those skinny fries with British fat fries... Overall, recommended. I'll be back to sample more of that menu.

By far, the BEST watermelon margarita I have tasted has been at this spot! Delicious!!🍉🍹👌🏼 Their buffalo chicken wrap and fries were very good too. The service was excellent. Recommend to try.

We went here after walking around the pier for dinner. Ordered the calamari, fish and chips and al pastor tacos. Also got a spicy margarita and a beer. We sat outside since I had my puppy with me. The server was nice to bring out a separate container of water for my puppy to drink. The tavern wasn’t busy at all so was surprised that it took some time for us to get our food. Other than that, food was good and was a nice night to eat outside.

Perfect bar to host an event in their back room! Jeanne and team could not have been easier to work with and I am already excited to plan my next event with them. Between the party platter options and drinks, a great time was had by all!!

A nice Irish pub / bar atmosphere close to Brooklyn Bridge. The food was ok and the service was really good. For us it was a good lunch option down on the east side of the Financial District in Manhattan!

Place is great - year round. An NYC Seaport staple. Food and service is awesome. I’ve also hosted my wedding’s day-after party as well as a surprise 30th in the private room and I can’t recommend it enough. Jeanne and the owner are great to work with. Thank you again! Looking forward to the next event with your team soon.

Came in this weekend with a group of seven people. Food was nice. Beer was nice. But the waitress spilled an entire glass of beer over all of us - broken the glass. It happens. That's not the issue. The issue: No compensation, no free beer, no nice gesture. Nothing but an oops I'm sorry. When you screw up and drench people in beer -- that they now need to walk around in and for the rest of the day - - you should at least offer them a free round. Will not be coming back

Stopped in for a quick drink after a day at the Seaport -- it was easy to find a few tables for a large group on a Saturday afternoon. The Pineapple Marg here was so delicious, highly recommend!

Come for the drinks not the food. Great and comfortable outdoor seating. Superb for a summer afternoon. Plenty of shade available on a quiet part of Front Street. Service is friendly yet very leisurely as we were left alone for long spells. Food is average at best not sure if this is a high volume shop so keep your orders plain vanilla. We went for the cod sandwich, Cobb salad and chicken tenders for the little one. Nice place for families and kids at least in the daytime. Game on in the bar which was pretty dark - would be better in the winter.

Outdoor seating area really pretty, but indoor seating area was very dim. Service was typical. The burger was juicy and the fries complemented it well. I would not say this place was phenomenal, but a good eats in an area that is more upscale (Seaport) with very reasonable prices for food and drink.

Dorlan's was supposed to just be a stop along the way to another place. It was very dark inside on a Sunday afternoon and not at all crowded. The servers seemed to be very busy and distracted-by whom or what? I don't know because the place was almost empty. My friend raved about the charbroiled oysters but we were told that the oven was down. Hmm... That was a bit disappointing, so I ordered Buffalo shrimp and a suggested side salad. I was served an arugula salad topped with grilled shrimps. My salad was filled with walnuts, cranberries, green apple slices and tossed with a really nice dressing. It was tasty but not what I asked for. My friend's chicken tenders and fries looked appetizing enough. We rounded out our food with two shots of tequila, two frosé drinks and a Dorlan's IPA. I was handed a bill for over a hundred dollars. How? Why? Maybe that Herradura tequila brand is higher up on the shelf than I thought.

Mozzarella sticks are $15 really???? It's just fried cheese with breadcrumbs. And their water wasn't even that good. Good atmosphere though. Probably would come back again.

I've passed by this place many times before but have never tried it until a few weeks ago. Our group ordered the fried calamari, chicken tenders and fish and chips. They were perfectly cooked, tasty and fresh. Service was great too. Our server checked on us periodically and was very responsive when we needed something. We'll definitely come back again soon.

We stumbled upon this place while visiting the Seaport. We often say outside because it was great weather. I wanted to fish and chips but they didn't have any that day which was a bummer but we got the chicken sandwich and calamari instead. Chicken sandwich was delicious. A really nice big piece of chicken Fried to perfection on a soft bun. The fries were good too. Calamari was tender and crisp and served with marinara sauce sauce. We all enjoyed our food and the service is great.

I don't recommend nor would I go back -- almost everything besides the Buffalo chicken was inedible. Really bad drinks as well. The margarita I got may have been the worst one I've ever had in NYC. If you do come here, just get a beer!

Traditional tavern vibes with a nice happy hour. A few outdoor seats make it a nice spot to enjoy on those warmer days. I went with the frozen colada (twice), which was definitely too weak. The chips and guac were standard and make it a safe and tasty choice. Plenty of seating if you come early in the day/evening. Friendly bar tender and good service. The crowd and atmosphere is relaxed with a mix of locals and tourists wandering to and from the seaport. The place is super casual and great for catching up with friends. You won't feel awkward if you're eating alone at the bar too.

I was in the financial district looking for a happy hour. I decided on Dorlan's because I was in the mood for oysters. The service was great from the moment I walked through the door. All of the staff was very accommodating, they didn't mind explaining the menu or specials, and they continually checked on me. The restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere gave the feeling of being your favorite dive bar. I was there for happy hour so I enjoyed the oysters and you can choose a beer or wine to accompany it for a low price. The oysters were very fresh and fulfilled my craving. I decided to order the calamari and it came out hot/fresh. It was such a large portion that was tasty and filling. I really enjoyed my experience and can't wait to go back to try more menu items.

Food was excellent. I enjoyed the Tacos de Carne Asada. My wife enjoyed the grilled chicken Cobb salad. Server was attentive. We thought this was an Irish Pub, but it has Mexican influence. Good dive bar atmosphere.

Came here for a quick bite on a busy Saturday. The place was loud and packed with people for their brunch special. We were able to be quickly seated at the bar. The service was a little slow at first but the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We shared the charbroiled oysters which were surprisingly very tasty. We also shared the Buffalo shrimp which was a big portion and yummy as well. I was shocked when the bill came and the bloody Mary i ordered was $14... as it was nothing special. But if you're looking for a quick bite with decent bar food this place decent enough.

First impressions: plenty of outdoor seating and umbrellas for shade, as it was a super hot August day. The sun was also beaming down hard on the opposite side of the street so we were glad we were seated on the side that Dorlan's was located on. Food: OLD BAY TENDERS - moist and tender chicken with a perfect crust. The seasoning was really good and so was the sauce. SHRIMP TACOS - pretty good. Not stingy on the shrimp like some places are. Regretted not ordering more. Conclusion: would come back here again for bar noms and a chill atmosphere

My friend and I were looking for a place near me that served happy hour oysters. Even though Dorlan's doesn't seem to have it any more we decided to stay and try it out anyways. We had arrived around 5:30 PM on a Friday night and it was very empty; however, when we left around 6:30 PM that is when people started coming and it became more and more crowded. We decided to get a dozen oysters which were all pretty small. The toppings went well and really complimented the oysters. However, the oysters themselves were fairly average and were not worth the steeper price tag. We also got a beer battered cod sandwich. The sandwich was pretty unimpressive. The cod was fried perfectly though. It came out deliciously flakey. However, it was completely bland. They had the tartar sauce to the side which was weird that they didn't just add it to the sandwich directly. It was just disappointing that the sandwich had so much potential especially since it was cooked so well; however, it just feel flat. Additionally the coleslaw it came with was not good at all. We also ordered the side of fries to go with the sandwich. The fries were absolutely delicious but just pricey. I do have to compliment the fact that there was so much fries given though which was a nice surprise. Service as well was mediocre. Our servers were nice; however, there would be stuff forgotten and everything was just ok during our dinning experience. All in all, an average experience with a hefty price tag.

Well, Dorlans is such a cool and fun place! We always come here. The bartenders are really friendly, and so is the staff. The runners are super attentive too. They set up a table for all of our friends. We really like coming here. It's a great spot!

The decor of Dorlan's Tavern & Oyster Bar is authentic tavern style and outdoor seating is currently available during COVID-19. The staff was nice and served everything quickly. The food options on the menu were limited. We had 2 dozens of oysters, shrimp nacho, fries, fried chicken tender and mozzarella sticks. Overall, the food was decent but not outstandingly good. Our favorite was their oysters, which were fresh and flavorful with 3 different sauces. We didn't like their comfort food and it definitely was overcooked, especially the fried chicken. It was dry and hard to chew.

My favorite area of New York is the Financial District and after checking into my hotel I was starving. I was looking for coastal pub cuisine and Yelp helped me discover this great place. I loved the entire nautical vibe and stayed all afternoon as the happy hour crowds loaded in. What a fun place with great service and well portioned foods. Thank you for being my welcome back meal after 3 years of non-travel due to covid. I'm glad your open and ready to celebrate with me. I'll be back soon.

Food was a hit or miss and most of the items could've used a lot more salt. The fries were decent after sprinkling salt on top. The oysters were good. The nachos were surprisingly pretty good and I'd order those again if I'm ever back. Lastly, the calamari was very disappointing so I'd skip that if you're considering it. They have a nice deal where a glass of beer and any shot is $10 which is better than just getting one shot- that alone might be worth coming back for. Overall it's a chill spot with outdoor seating and decent food. P.S there's a lot of dogs that pass by so it's a cute spot to people and dog watch in a lively area. The servers were very nice and attentive.

Service was really great but the food was just okay. This is a freak place for a drink but I wouldn't really recommend the food.

ATMOSPHERE: we decided to sit near the window indoors, and basically had the option to sit anywhere which was great. Indoors is a typical bar setting, and the music was superb! So many catchy tunes, made for a very pleasant experience. FOOD: we got a dozen oysters, the double patty burger, an amber ale and a michelada. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the michelada (a bit too watery), but everything else was perfect! Burger was tasty, sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a delicious dip, the oysters were on point (especially with lemon + cocktail sauce), and the beer was good too. SERVICE: quite standard service, food came pretty quickly because it wasn't too busy, no complaints at all on my end! VERDICT: I would definitely come back here again :) All the food felt quite reasonably priced, and the location is super cute - right on the cobble streets of SeaPort. Highly recommend!

Sat outside and loved the vibe. Indoors is a typical bar atmosphere, which looked pretty fun, and outside they have tables and umbrellas set up. It's cute and quiet, so I preferred to sit there to be able to converse. First of all, their Blue Point oysters are fantastic! Bit on the pricey side ($28 for a dozen), but I really enjoyed them. They are so big and fresh, and the quality you'd expect from a New York oyster bar. Their menu consists of bar food, but their Beyond burger was a standout. It had this smokey aftertaste that I really enjoyed! It made me want to go buy Beyond meat and make it myself! Their double beef burger was just two patties and no toppings, and it was just fine. I subbed their regular fries for sweet potato fries and that was great. Our server was really attentive for the first half, but really slowed down the latter half. Granted, it got busier inside. Also, they don't take Discover. Overall, a good city bar to hang with for a casual get-together with friends or colleagues!

Fish & Chips were $22, it was a big proportion enough to share. Decent overall but expected more seafood options on the menu

The best thing to crave after landing in NY! My friend took me here to eat for dinner (or should I say a very late lunch) and she was right! Burgers! The hostess was nice upon entering and luckily we arrived before the dinner crowd. We were given popcorn as our starter and then ordered the Double Patty Burger with cheese. My friend added the Cheddar and I chose American. Oh goodness, it was so tasty! Juicy, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The fries complemented well as it was crispy, but there was so much! The staff were nice and attentive. The atmosphere was great and the football games were on. Loved seeing people getting together and enjoying themselves. Highly recommend this place when in the area and definitely would like to try out their other burgers as well.

Came here just for a few drinks and to chill with some friends and avoid the Sunday scaries. Got a few rounds of drinks of some aperol spritzes and then the lemonade cocktail. We all shared some bar food (wedge salad, chicken tenders, Buffalo shrimp) which was as good as you'd expect (and just as satisfying) but we also got the broiled/roasted oysters -- WOW, cooked in wine and garlic, we could have got another 10 orders if we were made of money. Would go back just to splurge on them. Kind and attentive staff, loved the relaxed vibe. Had a great time and will probably be back.

1 star for the food 1 star for service 1 star for ambiance This is my first time having Dorlan's Tavarn. When my friend and I arrived our server seated us outdoors. (Not sure if they did indoors) He also checked our temperature and provided hand sanitizer. The main reason we came to this location was Because my friend told me that this place has really good oysters. The oyster didn't disappoint but I think the cocktail sauce could have been better. We also proceeded to order the buffalo wings and calm chowder. I would not recommend Buffalo wings at all. The texture of the wings were soggy on the outside and dry on the inside. I think I would have liked it more if it was more crispy. The Calm chowder was very watery (it's not creamy at all). I personally love thick potato pieces in my clam chowder with a thick cream. If you like more of a watery soup then you might like it. Our server was very attentive and he checked in on us often. (That made the experience more acceptable)

Excellent food and service. We had the best calamari ever. The cod sandwich was very crispy and juicy. Try dipping the sandwich in the marinara sauce and you'll fall in love. No pictures because we devoured the food.

Decent spot to come hang out with your friends. They have a handful of tables for outdoor dining and the tables are pretty spread out. My friend and I came on a Monday. Apparently no happy hour so we were disappointed. Their oysters had this mucky liquid in them when it was served. Their burgers were nicely cooked, not dry,m. We also ordered their hand cut fries which was reasonably salted. Overall we had a good experience there. Food: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 4/5

Stopped by on a Thursday evening for a bite and drink. Food and drinks were pretty poor. We ordered wings and nachos. The wings were actually edible, we asked for ranch dressing and a orange seasoned sauce appeared to the table. Then we ordered the nachos which were just odd. The cheese was melted to the plate (rather than the chips) none of the toppings were integrated to the chips (like the Chicken, tomatoes, guac, etc) very strange, chicken was predominantly burnt. Then the drinks I ordered the hibiscus cocktail And the liquor just tasted so cheap combined with some syrup added for color. Pretty disappointing expierence for such a decent looking restaurant in Seaport

After a hefty walk from the financial district and the Staten Island Ferry, we entered into South Street Seaport. After strolling along and checking out the various menus that each venue boasts, we settled on this spot. Table was made available and we were hungry/hangry. Lots of vegetarian dishes which was great to see. Lost a star for the service was a little slow and while mimosas were on the brunch menu... apparently they were out of bubbly My two brunch/linner Guests each had the veggie burger, which I found somewhat contradicting that the menu offered "bacon" as an accoutrement? I ordered the juevos rancheros, sans bacon and eggs scrambled instead of sunny-side: Dee-lish! All washed down with a very tasty Rosé Sangria. Little on the pricey side.... 3 meals and 4 sangrias=$105.00.

Old bay tenders are really good! We thought it was overpriced for bar food but the chicken tenders were a hit.

Cute fun place at South Street seaport...I just wish they had a better selection of alcohol though. Warm and courteous staff. Will definitely visit this place again coz of the ambience.

This place is a gem! The staff was SUPER friendly and the food was to die for. The mac and cheese was one of the best I have ever eaten! I would definitely be coming back :)

Everything is always great here the burger was good but the nachos were even better!!

The service started out bad. My boyfriend asked the waiter the price of the bucket of Corona (I believe) the waiter didn't know but said she would check. Then when she came back, we noticed another beer that he was interested in and again he asked the price. She preceded to ask if he wanted, he to check the price of all the drinks on the menu (small petite white girl). I told her give us a few mins because she was about to get what she was looking for. I don't drink beer, so he was trying to weigh his options on getting the bucket vs paying for each one separately. I'm not sure if she didn't want to serve us from then on but she sent a small petite, brown girl to assist us. She was nice. The food was good. We tipped based off the service of the 2nd girl but somehow when it was time for the check the white girl came back to the table.

I enjoyed my visit to Dorlan's a couple nights ago, but I've been to this address in the past ---only it wasn't known as Dorlan's. I'm unable to recall the previous business name but it was also inviting. After my friend and I chilled at a neighboring bar to take advantage of their HH and cheap eats, we made our way to Dorlan's because for some reason, I craved oysters. It would also be our final stop to wrap up the evening. It was the perfect summer night, weather wise, and we sat outside---high top cocktail table---for drinks and nibbles. In the end, I didn't order any oysters (next time), but our snacks were filling and delicious. We shared a basket of fries because who can refuse fries when drinking an iced cold Diet Coke? I passed on the alcohol but my friend had a couple drinks and service was prompt and efficient in general. Indoor space was also quite nice and cozy but our preference that evening was to be outdoors. Along with the French Fries, we shared an ordered of Shishito Peppers. These were charred and slightly salted. Really good for snacking on something light. Overall, with the perfect weather, enjoying one another's company, some people watching and enjoying good food/drinks, Dorlan's was a nice nightcap to end the evening. Solid.

Great place to eat and catch up with friends. I loved the spicy pineapple margarita that they have on their menu. If you're a spicy and sweet lover like myself, this drink is for you! The food was delicious as well--will be back!

Came here for lunch. The clam chowder soup was okay. But very oily from the butter. The meatballs is good but it was a bit on the dry side. The sauce and crispy of the bread is good. Our salad was good also. We sat outside a tiny bit cold with my pup but good service. Will come back to try other things on the menu.

I would love a return trip to give a full experience, but from the drinks side of things, this was an excellent spot. The food looked delicious but my partner and I were bar hopping and glad we got some cocktails. I was absolutely in love with the bourbon smash here! Very well made with cute garnish and truly tasty. My partner had a seasonal gin drink (can't remember the name) but had honey and it was stellar! Pricewise it's pretty much right down the middle for Manhattan, and a little under for such a tourist friendly spot. Looking forward to coming back when the weather is nicer!

Where do I start!!!! Marlene our bartender was super nice, my drinks just delicious I had the Paloma, we also ordered some east coast oysters by far the best I've had in NYC, we also got some Buffalo wings and fries. & the music was good.

It's located at the heart of the seaport by pier 17, got both indoor and outdoor seatings. We ordered burger and fried chicken sandwich, both were great w good portion of crispy French fries, you can also substitute for sweet potatoes fries if you like. I was very happy w my chicken sandwich, it was breaded, juicy inside and crunchy outside. I wouldn't order cocktails there, we had a margaritas and dollars lemonade, both were watering down, lemonade was too sweet w barely any alcohol in it. For $14 a pop, the bartender didn't do justice to the cocktails.

Food was actually pretty terrible even for a bar chicken was sour which means it's gone bad and ale battered cod looks day and night to the picture online and menu , drinks were pretty good but it's a bar they kinda have to be, service was terrible we were checked up on once in 40 mins of being there. Go here to get drunk cause that's the only way you'd eat the food

Best fish and chips I've had in New York so far! Huge portions with them as well, great spot that you don't need reservations for!
