"Situated two blocks from Neptune Beach, Doro offers a seasonally-inspired menu with a range of dishes — that certainly isn’t just limited to seafood. The menu changes based on availability, featuring options like chicken “Milanese” served with greens, guanciale, tomatoes, and grana padano cheese or the royal red shrimp carpaccio with aji spice, vegetable vierge, and lemon. House-made sorbets, with daily-changing flavors, provide a perfect end to the meal." - Megan duBois

Chilling weather did not deter us from experiencing the inviting atmosphere of Doro. Friendly faces welcomed us to our cozy table. Informed of the fish of the day, we settled into an exciting menu. Finally deciding on the charred octopus, seared scallops, and duck breast, we waited anxiously. Perfectly cooked, all dishes were seasoned well and delicious. Well balanced flavors helped lift the star of each dish. Full and satisfied, the dessert capped the night, as only panna cotta can. We look forward to our next visit to Doro.

Excellent dishes and service during several visits. During most recent visit, enjoyed their version of chicken milanese as well as Halibut filet and strawberry crisp a la mode. This is a very small place and it can feel crowded and noisy. Recommend making reservations. Valet service includes this restaurant and others in the same plaza.

My first time here. I've heard great things and was excited to try it. We had appetizers and the pork schnitzel was delicious. I did not enjoy their buratta. I had the market fish of the day which was Tile fish with vegetable and arugula puree. I thought the fish was dry and a bit bland and the arugula puree was strong and overwhelming. My dinner companions loved their snapper and chicken dish. The 5 star portion of the whole meal are the desserts. The homemade ice cream was delicious. So were the dark chocolate pot de creme. Amazingly delicious desserts! The dinners are pricey, the place is small and cramp, our service was really good, and the food ranged from bland to delicious. Because of the location, price, and the hit or miss of the food, I'm not sure I would recommend it. If I'm in the area, I'd love to go back and have the homemade ice cream again. That stood out for everyone in my dinner party.

Absolutely loved our experience at Restaurant Doro! Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere felt both upscale and welcoming. A perfect spot for a special night out in Neptune Beach!

So awesome! Loved it! Small place with big flavors. Great experience!

Google
I liked the service and the atmosphere, but I didn’t like the food. The dish I ordered was too spicy and salty. I expected the fish to look different. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it. I also had to wait almost an hour for my dish. The dish was cold, even though it took so long to prepare.

Google
Was excited to try this place, but it was a flop. The appetizers were mediocre (the beet salad flavors didn’t go well together and the yellowtail had too much going on). The waitress forgot to send out our soup which was the second course and instead we got our entrees early. They couldn’t keep our entrees warm and kept trying to say they would bring the soup for us to eat during our main course, which felt a little odd. The halibut entree was cooked well but had no flavor. A pretty mediocre experience. Not at all worth the high prices. Skip it.

I hold a great appreciation for Doro, notwithstanding its elevated pricing, as the culinary execution is impeccably precise. My solitary dining experience was thoroughly enjoyable, prompting eager anticipation for my next visit. The menu, characterized by innovation and simplicity, offers a succinct set of options without confining patrons to a particular culinary trajectory. The commendable staff, distinguished by their politeness and adeptness at addressing diverse needs and inquiries, contributes significantly to the overall positive dining experience. When positioned at the bar, one can observe a chef meticulously crafting appetizers, showcasing a captivating attention to detail that renders each dish a masterpiece. Notably, the consistency in the preparation of identical items is a testament to the culinary precision maintained. Navigating the menu reveals a well-organized layout, with appetizers on the left and entrees on the right. Upon flipping the menu, a splendid array of fine wines, champagnes, liquors, and other libations awaits, catering to a spectrum of discerning tastes. While Doro may not boast expansive dimensions, its service excellence and inviting ambiance seamlessly compensate for any initial reservations or uncertainties, ensuring a dining experience that surpasses expectations.

Yelp
Was visiting Florida with my wife on vacation, and took her to Doro to celebrate our anniversary. The atmosphere, service, and overall experience was the best that we experienced in all of Jacksonville. We sat at the bar and were amazed at the craftsmanship of the chef, as we watched him prepare the dishes. The food was exquisite, from the octopus to the perfectly cooked ribeye. We ended our night with his house-made ice cream, which is a must have. With so many restaurant choices around the Jacksonville Beach area, Doro stands above the rest.

Peregrinus F.

Yelp
Mr. and Mrs. Peregrinus had a fabulous anniversary dinner at Doro in late June 2024. We highly recommend sitting at the bar in order to watch Chef Chris Polidoro work his magic. Our server, Christopher, was most helpful in guiding us to the best options on and off the menu that evening. For starters, we had charred octopus with soft egg emulsion, togarashi, & sauce vierge ($17). This was spectacularly good. We also had the warm "king crab" with champagne mango and aji amarillo mayo ($28), but in this case it was fresh lobster instead. The lobster was a little tough due to over-cooking, but it was still delicious, as the sauces are extraordinary. For the 2nd course, we had a fresh red snapper dish that was off menu. It was perfectly prepared - the best fish either of us have tasted in more than a decade of peregrinations. We also had the duck breast + broccolini + okonomyaki, hoisin & bonito, aka cabbage pancake. Who knew that duck could taste this good? It was amazing. Finally, for dessert, we went with the chocolate Pot de Creme and a scoop of homemade mint ice cream, with fresh mint blended into the heavy cream. We felt like young Edmund Pevensie eating magical Turkish Delight, wanting more and more no matter the consequences. All this plus 3 draft beers came to $169, plus tax and tip. It was well worth the price. One more great feature worth noting was their free valet parking. We pulled up on the back side of the restaurant (one block to the west), handed our trusty steed to the young men running the lot, and we took the claim ticket to Doro for validation. This worked perfectly and eliminated one of biggest the hassles of Neptune Beach. Thanks to the great team at Doro for a wonderful all around experience. Well done!

Yelp
This was literally one of the best restaurant meals I've ever had. I was initially thinking of ordering the grilled snapper, but after telling the server (she was fantastic, but unfortunately I can't remember her name) that I would omit the olives, she steered me toward something else after letting me know that they are a primarily focus of the dish. So when I asked her about the scallops versus the short rib- she painted such a vivid picture for me that I could practically taste them. Her description convinced me to order the short ribs and I'm soooo glad that I did! It was an explosion of flavors and textures in my mouth- the sweetness of the tamarind BBQ sauce, the slight earthiness of the carrot puree and the super tender meat (that did not require a steak knife at all) with the thin crispy outside layer- WHOA! LOVED it. My husband was just as enthusiastic about his market fish of the day (which I believe was snapper or mahi). The side of potatoes we ordered was a generous portion for us to share and brought another interesting element to my dish. For dessert, we ordered the key lime panna cotta, which had a robust citrus flavor, but I didn't love the texture (just a personal preference), so we also ordered the dark chocolate pot de creme- HOLY MOLY. I love chocolate, but frankly expected it to be a little one note, but it was far from it. It had the perfect full-bodied chocolatey flavor balanced by a dollop of whipped cream and the smoothest texture. I wanted to lick the dish. For drinks, we had the Drylands sauvignon blanc, which was incredibly smooth. A few practical things to note. This was not a cheap meal. For the two entrees, two desserts, and 3 drinks, it was a little over $200. So at least for our budget, this restaurant is reserved for special occasions. It is a VERY small space, so you will need a reservation, especially if you go on a weekend like we did. Every table was occupied for the entire 1.5- 2 hours we spent there. It can get a bit loud, just by the nature of having so many people in a small restaurant. We didn't find it distracting, but others might. Overall, everything we had was phenomenal and the service was as top-notch as you would expect from a restaurant with a chef-driven menu. We can't wait to be back next time we're celebrating something special :)

Yelp
Holy schnitzel! Literally the best bite of food and meal we've ever had. I don't even know where to start or how to explain just how good everything was. We started with the burrata for a shared app and it was unlike anything we've ever had. It was complex yet simple and fresh and delectable. Next we moved onto our 2nd course of schnitzel and charred octopus and both were fire. The schnitzel is sweet but crunchy and balanced and the stuff that we will dream of. The charred octopus was like butter and just melted in my mouth. For our main I went with the lamb rack and my fiancé went with the ribeye. The lamb rack had a lovely balance of flavors and even my fiancé raved about it and he has NEVER enjoyed lamb. The ribeye had great flavor and crust and was cooked to perfection. And because we were indulging we went with key lime panna cotta and strawberry crisp desert. Both were lovely and not overly sweet. It's the cutest and quaintest spot and our service was so great. The energy of everyone who works there was just so positive. Seriously a gem.

Rebecca T.

Yelp
The wait staff were so thoughtful and the chef was able to cater my meal to my allergy (which I was super thankful for!). Enjoyed the evening

Julia L.

Yelp
Birthday dinner. Underwhelming. Snapper was dry. No bread or crackers. First course just average. Not coming back. Not worth the price.

Doc M.

Yelp
Fantastic evening. If you are thinking about going here--look at the website and the pictures. If this appeals to you, you'll probably love it. We sure did. It isn't cheap, but everything was top quality, and the service was top shelf. We had the scallops, the salad with an egg and caper dressing, and an apple-cranberry crisp. The highlight was the pistachio soup. It was the best soup I have ever eaten. If pistachios appeal to you AT ALL, please try this soup. Honestly, the best soup I've ever eaten. All in all, a really lovely evening, and a fantastic addition to the restaurants at the beach.

Martha C.

Yelp
Beautiful dining experience! Doro is a small restaurant with a lovely beach vibe. Service is on point but the food is the star. Innovative menu options prepared with expertise. Never disappoints!

Chris Z.

Yelp
This is our go-to date night spot. The food is excellent, the people are friendly, the location is by the beach, and you get a fine dining experience with a casual atmosphere. HIGHLY recommend. I can't say enough good things about the food... the flavors/style of Chef Chris are out of this world! Don't think about going here, just go. Pro tip - it's a smaller venue, so either make a reservation or try your luck at first come seating at the bar(my fav) where you can sit at the chefs prep area.

Galib K.

Yelp
Doro is a culinary haven that defines sophistication and excellence. From the moment you step in, the warm and attentive staff set the tone for an extraordinary dining experience. The upscale intimate ambiance, marked by dim lighting and plush decor, creates a luxurious atmosphere. The menu boasts prime cuts of steak cooked to perfection, accompanied by delightful sides and sauces that showcase the chef's skill. The extensive wine list, guided by a knowledgeable sommelier, complements the richness of the steaks. The impeccable service, neither intrusive nor neglectful, enhances the overall experience. While the price is slightly higher, the value is evident in the top-notch quality of food, service, and ambiance. Doro is the epitome of a classy seafood steakhouse, making it the perfect destination for those seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure, whether for a special occasion or a well-deserved treat. I always start with the charred octopus, followed with either the ribeye, the lamb loin or chicken paillard and have yet to leave even remotely dissatisfied.

Yelp
Loved our waitress Michelle. Delicious flavors. Great wine. I had the vegetable cassoulet. It was so flavorful and delicious!

Yelp
My wife took me to Restaurant Doro for my birthday. It was a cute bistro located at 1st Street in Neptune Beach. Definitely unique and delicious cuisine. We started off with a complimentary pickled cucumber and ordered a couple of apps. Appetizers * Charred Octopus with olives, haricot vert, tomato, potatoes, aioli. Tender and slightly smoky taste. *Ahi Tuna Tartare with peaches, tomatoes, and citrus dressing. The plating reminded me of a wreath, delicious edible wreath. Main Entrees *Crispy Short Ribs with carrot purée, pickled napa slaw, and tamari bbq. Crispy on the outside tender on the inside. *Roast Lamb Loin with sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, and bordelaise sauce. Everything in the plate went well together. Food was so good, we cleaned our plates. Our server wished me a Happy Birthday, but I wished they would have given me a little dessert to cap off our dinner. I was waiting for it. Lol. Great dinner and service none-the-less. Tip: Valet Parking or Pay by plate are available for your parking needs.

Yelp
Went there tonight Jan 2 2024. The food was fabulous. The short ribs was delicious. The desserts were amazing. The staff was professional and just made the night great!! We will definitely go back.

Kathryn G.

Yelp
Great food, great service, call ahead and make a reservation. A nice fine dining spot.

Maribel T.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. The couple next to us recommended the Cesar salad which was incredible. Anything you choose here you can't go wrong.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Intimate chef-owned restaurant in the heart of Neptune Beach. Great area to walk around before or after dinner. Definitely make a reservation but if you didn't, see if there's a spot at the bar. Watch the magic happen as Chef prepares appetizers with the view of the full kitchen just behind. The menu was made to build. The burrata is fantastic! Right now they have a seasonal gazpacho and it was lovely. I recommend sharing, always, bc I love to try everything. I had the lamb and it was very good but a bit rich. The fish special was incredible and the short ribs looked mouthwatering...I didn't try it but I definitely will next time!

Jasmine F.

Yelp
Upscale NYC/LA style dining without the attitude. From the welcome to the last morsel, everything is done to perfection. The service was outstanding. The jonah crab salad with tangy emulsion appetizer is a must try. We ordered: First Course: - jonah crab salad with tangy emulsion and grilled mushrooms salad, spinach and leek - life changing! They had me at tangy emulsion. It was my favorite dish of the night. - ahi tuna carpaccio - wow! Just wow! Second Course: - pork schnitzel - great dish. Not Germany great, but flavors are close enough considering the area. - roasted lamb loin, leek salad, spinach and cheddar quiche with red wine reduction - excellent tasting, filling dish. - veggie version of lamb dish: salad, spinach and cheddar quiche, no lamb and no red wine reduction - excellent! Fresh and cheesy quiche balanced the more acidic-tasting leeks in an awesome meatless sauce. I love leeks, though they would have been a bit easier to eat if plated cut in half. I am very thankful the chef was so willing to make adjustments to his dishes out of concern for my dietary needs. - charred octopus - excellent flavors, plated beautifully. The chef allowed me to pair the octopus appetizer with the quiche and leeks for a pescatarian main course. Dessert: - vanilla sundae - good, not great (needed more chocolate sauce); but I like that the ice cream is homemade - rhubarb crumble ala mode (I chose blackberry ice cream) - amazingly awesome! Crumble and ice cream tasted fruity sweet (not sugary sweet). Wishing I could get that blackberry ice cream by the gallon. Worth a diet hiatus. doro is the best restaurant in the area. It overtook my previous favorite: Restaurant Orsay. The menu changes with the seasons, so I doubt I will ever get bored. Thanks Chef!

Dana L.

Yelp
The pan seared grouper with apricot miso, chanterelles, beef jus and fennel salad ... omg! Always love the simple green salad with fresh ginger dressing. Chris the owner knows everyone and takes the time to make everyone feel at home. Highly recommend Doro. My favorites place to eat in Jax!

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Wonderful meal in a small and intimate setting. Every staff member was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items. Went there with my husband and my dad and had a great time. I had the crispy short ribs and it was to die for! The entire table agreed it was the best meal! They also have a fabulous Chamblee by the glass! (Sorry I can't remember the name of it!) We also started with The chard octopus and in order of schnitzel. Both were very good however the schnitzel in the vegetable and light sauce that accompanies it was heavenly!

I Love F.

Yelp
This was our first time here and we were definitely welcomed with a great server and cozy ambience. It's a small restaurant but you can tell the people that go there KNOW the food it good. Good vibes & good food kinda feel! THE SHORT RIBS (100/10) IS A MUST! My husband said it's the BEST thing he's had in a long time! Warning ... you might lick your plate clean!! Lol The seared tuna was 9.5/10 only because I compared it to his short ribs! Will definitely be back and we might get double portions of the short ribs

Alison M.

Yelp
Lovely small place with fine dining. 2 seatings so dinner early 5:39/6 or late like 8:30. Beer & wine. Duck was fabulous! Key lime pan a cotta was yummy.

Sam T.

Yelp
I loved the atmosphere of this tucked-away fine dining and look forward to getting another chance at their menu. My husband and I went here on a long-overdue date night recently and were greeted warmly by the hostess. We started with a nice glass of Prosecco and some still water that had a bit more of a "Jacksonville tap water" taste to it than we're used to. The service throughout our meal was friendly and attentive. For appetizers, I went with the romaine salad while my husband had the minestrone. My salad, although slightly underdressed, had a unique and appealing addition of bread crumbs and an excellently-prepared egg. The minestrone was well-made and flavorful. For entrees, my husband went with the steak special and described the steak as cooked exactly to the medium he ordered it as, and it was accompanied by kale that was well-seasoned but a bit challenging to chew. My entree, the scallops, was a slight disappointment. The scallops had a a weaker sear and a much stronger saltiness than I'm accustomed to, and one bite -- the last bite -- was into an ice-cold center. The accompanying eggplant and the fennel raita were fine, and the paprika vinaigrette was delicious. Our desserts were standouts. My husband's ice cream -- made in-house -- was rich and creamy with no icy crystallization that can accompany in-house ice creams. My apple cranberry crisp (accompanied by another excellent in-house ice cream) was gooey and tangy and secret but not overly sweet, and it felt like a nice big bite of autumn. While our food wasn't perfect, the positives and overall experience were plenty to make us want to come back again.

Tayloe M.

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant in Jax. The food is always fantastic, as is the service. Make sure to make a reservation.

Jackie B.

Yelp
The food was delicious. We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary at Doro. We enjoyed great bottle of wine and a lovely dinner. My husband had the short ribs and I had the sea scallops. We sat at the chef's table and were able to see some of the magic that happens behind the scenes. We will definitely be back.

Joanne R.

Yelp
Poor, very quiet restaurant (both places either side were busy). Food average at best, however wine was very good.

Yelp
They Lost this Customer Christmas Eve. Excited to bring my sis and husband to Doro where I've had great food experiences. She ordered the Chicken Milanese. I had grouper and my husband had duck. My sister took one bite of her chicken and said "it's undercooked." My husband had a bite and agreed. We flagged down our server and let her know. My sister decided to replace her dinner with the grouper to avoid the chicken again. My husband and I waited to finish our dinners. However, after 15 minutes, her meal was still not served, so we finished our entrees. Finally, the grouper arrived and my sister said it was delicious. We waited as she finished dinner (and my wine glass remained empty, no one asked if I wanted another glass). The bill came - no accommodation for undercooked chicken. No apology from the kitchen, no " we'll pick up your two glasses of wine", nothing. I asked to speak to the owner/manager about our experience. He was very defensive and said his kitchen tasted the chicken and it was perfect. Maybe - if you're not worried about salmonella. Sorry Dora, but when I'm spending over $200 for dinner that turns disappointing due to the food prep and time spent waiting, whether you agreed or not, even an apology would have gone a long way. The meal, coupled the intermittent smell of sewer odor that we've smelled there on more than one occasion - Sorry we won't be back ( and from the owner's attitude, he won't care) but we'll spend our local dollars elsewhere.

Wendy L.

Yelp
Have wanted to eat here for some time and finally had the opportunity. We sat at the bar and got served immediately. This is a rather small quaint place but has quite a charm. The waitress staff is very polite and caring. You can order in course or not. We had wine and beer to start. The persecco was refreshing and a wonderful starter. I ordered the snapper and my husband had ribeye. The entrees came out timely and talk about perfect omg!!! My husband had his cooked medium rare. It couldn't have been anymore perfect and delicious. My snapper was amazing. Vegetable blend on top and seasoned and cooked beautifully. We had to go for dessert at this point. He got dark chocolate dessert and I had a key lime dessert. My mouth is watering just thinking of about it. Absolutely delicious amazing. We will come back on a special occasion. This is a more upscale in price but the quality matched

Musa F.

Yelp
Went there for Valentines. My son and daughter in law really liked it so we gave it a chance. Overall, I really like Doro. Quaint , good tasting food, very good service and our waitress Michelle was awesome. Friendly. We were served timely . My ribeye was excellent. My wife had the surf and turf and thought it was very good. We had the pork schnitzel for our app , which was nice. Wine was smooth and the house she brought us were not the most expensive on the menu, but in fact the least. The dessert was good, but not as good as the entrees. Constructive thoughts : small, but perhaps more tight than cozy unless it is not full. Very loud. Got to have some bread to serve , especially since the sauces are so good. I didn't taste too much salt in my food , but my wife thought some of the things she had were a little too salty. I would definitely go back.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Doro just keeps getting better. The food is phenomenal. We started with the scallop carpaccio and romaine salad and had the chicken milanese and pork schnitzel for entrees. Highly recommend the pork as an entree or appetizer! It's a small restaurant so I recommend going later and getting the chance to talk with the chef after.

Kim A.

Yelp
Small quaint and romantic restaurant in the town center. The chefs really put a lot of effort into each plate which makes for a very tasty and unique meal. Prices are steep but it's a dining experience you won't do every weekend. Perfect for date night!

Natalie P.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've ever had. We ordered the pumpkin soup, the duck and the lamb. The service was great and the food was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Amber J.

Yelp
Very nice. Will definitely be back. The burrata and heirloom tomato salad was delicious. The grilled ribeye and fresh catch were also very good. Nice wine selection. Friendly staff.

Neil A.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Exceptional service and a menu that delights no matter the choice made.

Maisha R.

Yelp
I'd been to Doro once before and I was underwhelmed. The chef wasn't in on the night that we went so I assumed that was the issue. Wanting to give this spot another try, I ventured back there on a week night recently. I started with the pork schnitzel, which was crispy, well-fried, and perfectly seasoned with a spicy sweet dressing. I also tried the octopus on a friend's plate. It was flavorful but not tender enough. I had the short ribs with pickled squash and parsnip purée. In a word, it was excellent. The short rib was lightly dressed with a tamarind bbq sauce which complemented the beef very well. Others had the scallops and snapper. This course was a win all the way around. We ended with three desserts - the ice cream special which was salted caramel, topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and candied peanuts; dark chocolate pot de creme; and pistachio pavlova. The desserts were good but again, similar to my first visit, not very complex or inventive for a restaurant of this caliber. I love a great dessert but I would probably skip it here and save the calories. Service was excellent and the ambiance remained loud, but pleasant. I'm glad that I gave this place another try. It was definitely better than my first experience.

Tira M.

Yelp
It's restaurants like Doro that make the Jacksonville food scene exciting. Thanks to the Chef for giving it his all. A++: Charred Octopus appetizer. This dish was simply divine. Every bite was heavenly. This rivals the octopus dish at Townhall, which I get every single time we visit. A+: Beet salad. A classic. A-: Grilled red snapper. We loved the snapper, but did not like the roasted red pepper and celery relish. A++++: Quinoa side. I don't know what quantity of high grade crack was mixed in, but this simple looking dish was magnificent. I still can't get over it. Pairs well with the snapper. A+: Brioche dessert. Goodness! A+++++: Housemade Ginger ice-cream. Absolutely perfect. Pairs well with the brioche dessert.

Michaela P.

Yelp
Went last night. Excellent decor. Felt very appropriate for the coastal living. Pale, white, clean lines with a hint of blue. Very intimate space and just a 30 second walk to the beach and other downtown amenities. Between our group we ordered the burrata and octopus for apps (octopus adored by all so tender) and the snapper, duck and scallop entree. We were all happy and thought it was delicious and very fresh. Beautiful and pretty presentations. The scallop entree wasn't warm when brought to the table which was noted by all. It was still a great meal and I have recommend this place to all I know in the area.

Holly J.

Yelp
They have amazing salads and appetizers...Food was delicious pretty small place but definitely will be back!

Katie P.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in Atlantic Beach. Everyone that works here is personable and friendly, and the atmosphere is clean and open. The food portions are perfect and the selection is diverse, so there is something to please everyone. The ingredients are fresh and I would definitely recommend the Octopus App and the Scallop dinner. There are no wrong options here, and I highly recommend stopping in!

Douglas H.

Yelp
This is a fine dining experience worth visiting. We started with the Hamachi Crudo, our favorite selection. The Charred Octopus was very good. The Roasted Duck Breast with hoisin is worth trying. The sauces compliment the duck quite well. The catch grilled haddock catch of the day was overdone. We topped it off with the homemade vanilla ice cream.

David W.

Yelp
There is a scene in the classic movie, "The Blues Brothers" where the Reverend Cleophus James asks Jake and Elwood Blues if they see the light. "DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT?" They do indeed see the light. The Blues Brothers get the band back together, put on a tremendous concert and save the orphanage! Why do I bring up this classic movie in a restaurant review? Because I too saw the light. The light of some great food at Doro. My wife and I had talked about this restaurant for some time. That we wanted to try it. But for one reason or another we had delayed our visit. I'm quite sorry that we did. And we will definitely be back. First, the location. It's small. That should not be taken as a negative, but be aware that there aren't a lot of tables, so a reservation is basically a must. Second, the staff is amazingly friendly and accommodating. At first we were put at a regular table, but when we saw that two seats opened at the bar/counter we asked to move (we love to watch food being prepared). No problem! Moved us immediately. So, new spot secured, we dove into the menu. For the first course, we had the charred octopus and the yellowtail tartare. The problem? We couldn't decide which one was better! My wife exclaimed, "this is hands down the best octopus I've ever tasted!" High praise indeed. The addition of the olives and peppers creates a great contrast of sweet and salty to go with the octopus. The yellowtail was an amazing combination of flavors and textures. They put pumpkin seeds in it! If you like raw fish, try the yellowtail. Main course? She had the crispy short ribs and I had the fresh catch (sole). Needless to say, both were also fabulous. I've never tasted short ribs prepared this way, but the crispy exterior really works well with the tender meat. And the fish was melt in your mouth good with a sweet apple purée underneath. Each was simply fantastic. For dessert we had both the pot de creme and the home made vanilla ice cream. We argued again over which was better. Who won? We both did! Truly this was one of the best meals we have had in Jacksonville. So please. Please. Get your own band together, jump in your blues mobile and get to Doro. You will not be sorry!

JAmie M.

Yelp
Amazing little spot at the beach. Cozy and coastal decor with great wine selection. You will clean your plate between the seasonal burrata and short ribs. AMAZING! You will need a reservation as this is a small restaurant but it's worth it!

Jess D.

Yelp
Quaint little gem. It is pretty small dining room but we remained comfortable the entire experience. There was a strange smell (like hot very old dirty dish water, musty) I do not see any reviews mention it so maybe it was just that day, I'm not sure. The food however was delicious. Staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. They have a nice selection of wine. The charred octopus is a must try! Short ribs were good but I loved the carrot puree that came with it! Great experience, good wine and a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Truly exceptional cuisine! The menu changes seasonally with only the freshest ingredients and ideas. The staff is super friendly and the wine menu does not disappoint. Could not recommend this restaurant more!

Yelp
I actually give them 4.5, from the time I called to see if they had openings, Logan said I could probably sit at the bar very nice, very professional, we got there before they opened and there's already a short line, We were able to get a seat at the bar, there are only six seats I believe, with a post that could be in your way, so get there early if you don't make reservations. We started off with beers in a nice cold glass! A small but amazing detail lost these days, a couple small plates the Romaine salad, and the Jonah crab, really good our server was Francis, everybody was nice and professional. The lamb tenderloin is what I had for dinner, probably one of the best meals of my life except for the broccolini that was mush. My wife had the snapper. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Yelp
This was our first visit to Doro. I was asking my girlfriend to marry me that night (not at Doro, but later that night), so I wanted to pick some place special. Doro did not disappoint. The place is small, so make a reservation if you can. It's beautiful and clean. Modern and calming. It's a very upscale vibe, but inviting at the same time. We started with charred octopus which was wonderful. Then I had the duck breast which was cooked perfectly medium rare. My (now) fiancé had the scallops. Now... Taverna in San Marco has long served my favorite scallops in town. However... Doro *may* have topped them. The scallops were so perfectly cooks and buttery. So good! The duck was tender and seasoned perfect. The fat was rendered down nicely and flavorful. They also have a small but great wine selection and our choices didn't disappoint. Our weight was fantastic. He realized I like to cook and was a foodie and while my fiancé was in the bathroom came over to talk to me about the preparation. He was well educated about how the food was prepared. It was like talking to a chef. Nice touch.

Yelp
In an area with some very, very interesting, eating establishments this may be our ultimate go to for well prepared thought out, attentive food that is always excellent. It is a treat dining here and is but another reason why we think so much of the Atlantic Beach area.

Yelp
So glad to have discovered this restaurant as part of Yelp Restaurant Week 2018! I love the beachy yet sophisticated interior design of the restaurant. It's a small place so good for a cozy dinner. All the dishes we tried were amazing, with the exception of the scallops. The scallops were heavily covered with a cilantro orange marmalade that was overly citrusy and overwhelmed the dish. However, the charred octopus appetizer and duck breast were delicious! I especially loved the cauliflower puree - super creamy, like a very smooth pudding, and so much flavor. I pretty much finished that side by myself. We had the pistachio pavlova for dessert and I loved how light and sweet it was. Again, I ate most of this myself haha. I will definitely visit again.

Yelp
This is dining out in the highest level. A clean kitchen and well run staff who will ensure you have an amazing experience. Let's start with pistachio soup..., wtf is that? It's what made me come here and blew my mind! We sat at the bar with Frances who directed us to amazing plates of food and wines that matched perfectly. This place runs so smoothly and the dishes showed that freshness. Make sure you order the salmon pastrami it's such a unique and tasty bite. Everything was presented well and timed perfectly.
