Dorothea Hotel, Budapest, Autograph Collection (Budapest, Hungary) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Opened in 2023, the hotel is the result of the union of three buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, each with its own distinct architectural identity. Designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni, it maintains a deep connection to local history and traditions, starting with its name — a tribute to Dorothea of Württemberg, wife of Archduke Palatine Joseph, governor of Hungary in the 19th century, and a beloved figure among the Hungarian people." - Tablet Hotels

Budapest’s Newest Hotel Makes a Grand Entrance into Hungary’s Hospitality Scene - Hotels Above Par - Boutique Hotels & Travel

"Housed across three restored historic buildings—including a neo‑renaissance former savings bank and an art‑nouveau shipping company headquarters in Budapest’s lively District V—this five‑star hotel blends aristocratic heritage with sleek contemporary design by Piero Lissoni. The opening gala, which featured an immersive ballet, live singers and uniformed staff serving elegant canapés, set a glamorous tone that continues to generate buzz among local hospitality figures. The lobby impresses with a long drop glass chandelier, a heritage staircase framed by an azure Zsolnay tile wall and curated photography by Zoltán Tombor throughout the public areas. Guestrooms come in contemporary and heritage designs with modern amenities and suites noted for expansive shower spaces, while the inner courtyard is the hotel’s leafy nucleus and home to Pavilon Restaurant & Bar, an airy farm‑to‑table spot led by Chef Carmine di Luggo that foregrounds Hungary’s agricultural produce. Ground‑floor Anton’s Bar & Deli serves artisanal coffee and pastries by day and becomes a lively cocktail bar and community hub by night. Spa highlights include the signature Archduchess treatment using endemic poppyseeds, featuring a foot ritual, body exfoliation, dry brushing, body wrap and facial massage. Other practical perks and facilities include complimentary Wi‑Fi, an indoor pool, fitness center and multiple dining options, making it a showpiece entry into Budapest’s hospitality scene."

We stayed here for three nights. The location is perfect, close to everything a tourist would want to see and do. The staff went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were take care of. The room was ready when we arrived, clean and well appointed.||As a Titanium member, we were well treated: upgraded room and free happy hour drinks and apps every night. The breakfast restaurant manager: Karolyi (sp?) went above and beyond to make sure my husband with his food allergies was well taken care of.

We had a fantastic trip to Budapest in December 2024 and the hotel was wonderful.||We had a beautiful room and this was always kept in great condition by the cleaners each day.||The spa facilities were great, the sauna and steam room were perfect for our needs, although the pool could benefit from the being a couple of degrees warmer. ||The restaurant was excellent and we had a lovely dinner there on our first night.||Perfect location to get out and about to explore Budapest. Right in the heart of town.||Although we didn't spend lots of time here during our trip I would highly recommend this hotel.

We had an upgraded hotel room which was the best of old style luxury and modern amenities. King size bed, soft bedding, twin sinks, walk in shower plus a soaking tub. Included Breakfast was superb as was the service. The location was good, with lots of nearby restaurants and a helpful concierge to arrange whatever you want to do. A solid hotel in Budapest.

We enjoyed our stay at the Dorothea hotel. The location is convenient to public transportation, and walking distance to many sites and restaurants. We especially enjoyed the buffet breakfast included with our stay. The buffet was very extensive with lots of fresh fruit choices, yogurt with several different toppings, croissants, meats, cheeses. You can also order ala carte, and I had excellent eggs benedict. The lattes were delicious. Free wifi worked well.

Hands down one of the best hotels in Budapest. The staff were amazing, they were so attentive, kind and helpful. The atrium is absolutely stunning. The room had a great sound system which most hotels don’t have. The gym, and pool were really nice as well. We would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.

This is a great location near restaurants, the Danube River, mass transit and shopping. I would rate the breakfast buffet as the best I have ever eaten. The hotel had good security, and it was very clean. The only thing that kept me from give five stars was I had no hot water on the morning I left (2:30 wakeup call). Talk about waking up. The cold shower did it!

Location is perfect to major scenic spots and shopping areas plus many delicious restaurants inside the hotel and near by it as well. I would definitely come back to Budapest and will definitely choose the Dorothea hotel for my next stay.

This hotel has by far the most comfortable rooms than any other we have ever been to. The breakfast is amazing and served in a beautiful garden, the gym and pool are elegant and useful, and the rooms (we booked 2 different rooms) are spacious, with everything you need inside. Beautiful view of the ferris-wheel from the windows. Nothing is missing, they thought of everything! The staff is so friendly, always with a smile, and attentive to all our requests. Very recommend!
