Dorothy's Cocktail & Oyster Bar

Wonderful food! The chicken entree was incredible, cooked perfectly with good flavor and their pork sausage and cabbage pork roll were delicious. The noodles were a surprise hit amongst the table. The carbonara wasn’t very good but everything else was tasty. Service was good and our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu.

Just in town for a few days. Earlier in the day stopped into the Richland rum distillery in Brunswick. The distiller recommended Dorothy's. I'm so grateful for the recommendation. The evening at Dorothy's started with a rum flight and lively discussion of different rums, followed by a couple of tiki drinks. I haven't been served by such knowledgeable and personable bar staff in years. My husband and I were smitten and that was before ordering a few small plates. My husband is a very good cook and it's rare to eat out and have a meal better than home cooking. We both agreed that Dorothy's hit that mark. Well done team. Thanks for a lovely evening.

We came for the rum selection on the recommendation of the distiller at Richland Rum in Brunswick. Hands down, the best food, drinks and service of any place we stopped at during our time in the area. I did a rum flight along with a personal presentation of the selections by the manager. Beyond that, we did a series of small plates that were bursting with flavor. Add in the attentive, friendly staff and you have found a true gem on St Simon. Cannot recommend enough!

Incredible atmosphere- loved my cocktail and everything we ate. Chelsea was the best server, she was so attentive and kind. Food was amazing! We loved the Udon noodles with pork, but you can’t go wrong.

Kudos to our chef, food was phenomenal... service was a litte off putting. Roasted oysters - OMG, beyond delish, juicy, buttery. Hubby's fire roasted chicken also a hit, super favorful - cooked perfectly. Definitely gonna give it another shot. Cocktails 10/10.

Five stars across the board! My husband and I spent a week on the island and had to visit Dorothy’s a second time because the menu was delicious, the vibes were great, and the service was exceptional! Across the two nights we had many of the menu items but our favorites were the hamachi, the tuna tartare, and the curry fish special. Both Leah & Janessa were behind the bar both nights and we couldn’t speak higher of them. Even during a crazy busy night - they were personable, attentive and educated us on the food and cocktail menu. Partnered with their bar back Sam - we always had our plates cleared, waters full and fresh silverware. I’d be remiss not to mention the cocktail we both couldn’t stop ordering - the El Mariachi. If you like Mezcal, you have to order this drink! On our way out, we chatted with the host and a server wrapping up their shift and the way they spoke highly of the restaurant & were passionate about what they had to offer spoke highly of the management team and the culture they foster. This spot is truly a gem on St. Simon’s and we will be sure to come back on our next visit!

Dorothy's Cocktail and Oyster Bar was the perfect setting for our rehearsal dinner and welcome party. Owner and Chef, Daniel Auffenberg, was incredibly accommodating and helpful, making everything easy from start to finish. The atmosphere was inviting, the food was delicious, and the cocktails lived up to their reputation. Dorothy's waitstaff was cheerful, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure everything ran smoothly. Our guests had a wonderful time. We highly recommend Dorothy's for any special occassion!

I gave them a 5 star rating with these 2 caveats. I made a reservation for 1 the day before at 6:15- 15 minutes after they open . I was seated at the worst seat in the restaurant- right next to the doors. I did enjoy the meal . I thought the prices for wine by the glass seemed a bit high. I am accustomed to California whites; so I may not have appreciated the French white. The food was excellent.

Our Valentine's dinner at Dorothy's was absolute perfection upscale, classic romantic vibe with excellent service and unique menu options. We had reservations, so our wait was minimal. The bar was energetic, but not overwhelmingly so. The cocktail menu had some interesting selections, and we enlisted the help of our very knowledgeable server to make our drink decisions.

I was in town with my business partner and we were looking for some good seafood. Coastal Kitchen was closed for winter break (although this was not updated on google). I had heard good things about Dorothy's so we checked it out. Atmosphere: We went on a Tuesday night around 6 and had our option to sit at the bar or at a table. We chose to sit at a table and there was a nice ambiance. Drinks: I ordered a Athletic Brewing Upside Dawn (dry January for me) and my partner got the Lord Grey from three taverns brewery. I loved the Upside Dawn- would definitely order again. Food: The seafood selection wasn't quite as broad as I'd expected. There was some good looking Asian fusion options. We asked the waiter if he preferred the burger or the miso ramen (it was a cold day so the ramen looked pretty darn good). He said it had cinnamon in it which kinda turned me off. We both got the burger and fries. It was a bada** smash burger with special sauce (thousand island based). My partner got it without the sauce and I feel sorry for him. To call the fries soggy might be harsh but they definitely weren't crispy. I wish I had gotten the Caesar salad with the jalapeno Caesar dressing. When I go back, I'll get this or the fish special.

aesthetically pleasing restaurant on the island! A great dinner restaurant for a date or special event! My steak was great, although I wish my salad was cut up rather than fork and knife, but overall was still good! Service is excellent and I would recommend to anyone on SSI!

Such a cute spot! The decor inside was curated so perfectly. Loved the Japanese seafood fusion here. The hamachi crudo was phenomenal with the bite of the citrus. The scallion pancake was so yummy! Service was good. We did have to wait for our table about 15 minutes after our reservation was pushed back earlier in the day by the restaurant. We still enjoyed our time here!

Unfortunately have had three poor experiences in a row. The service has been lack luster and the food quality inconsistent. For being a cocktail driven establishment, the drinks take a very long time to arrive at the table, even during non busy times. We hoped sitting at the bar would provide better service; however, despite being one of two couples we still received slow, disappointing service and felt ignored. Really want to love this restaurant, but will not continue to frequent. Happy to pay for good food and service, but right now do not think it's worth it.

A must while you're on St. Simons! My husband & I were visiting the island for the first time while on a marriage retreat. For Saturday's date night, we took a chance on this place. When we arrived, it look 5-10 minutes for someone to approach us (it was long enough that we almost left). Finally a gentleman at the bar walked over & offered that there were 2 spots at the bar, so we planted there for the evening. Come to find out, he & his wife were the owner's parents - they were SO humble, kind & helpful in making the rest of the evening unforgettable! Food: Everything was amazing! We had the Shrimp Ceviche (fresh & shareable), Salmon Belly (super small but great flavor), Scallion Pancake (wow!), Oysters (so fresh!!), Crab Rangoons (yum!) and the Bread Pudding (May be the best we've ever had!). Drinks: Honestly, just ask any of the bartenders for their recommendations. That's what we did & between their suggestions & surprises, we were not disappointed! Ambiance: Loved the style & details inside! Great for date night, a nicer family dinner or a special group celebration (we even saw a bachelorette party). All in all, this made for one of our favorite date nights yet!

Food, service and overall vibe was amazing. We had oysters, and shrimp ceviche, salmon bowl and roasted chicken. Delicious! Our server was attentive yet not overly. Love this place and hope to visit again in the future!

Perfect date night spot when visiting St Simon's. The cocktail program is off the chain, the service is extremely skilled, and the food is delicious. It's hard to decide what to do, there are so many great options. Our most memorable dish was the bread pudding, but we also loved the scallion pancakes (wow, we eat these a lot and these were the best possible version) and the jumbo prawns. Love the Instagram-worthy spot upfront and the kind hostess who takes great pictures.

Dorothy's was INCREDIBLE. 15/10 recommend. Only downside was that we found this place on Saturday night before our dinner reservations somewhere else and they are closed Sundays and Mondays. We are planning a trip back in December JUST for Dorothy's. Barnabus and Kazi were awesome bartenders, oysters were so delicious and cold but the cocktails were the icing on the cake. Great recommendations from both Kazi and Barnabus! We had: black magic and peddlers pick oysters (to die for) and the steak kebabs (unsure how to spell the real name). We had the One Night In Bangkok, matcha cocktail, and many others but the gin & tonic stole the show with being the best any of us have had. Sprint, don't walk to Dorothy's and see our friends at the bar!! Extremely knowledgeable, good

Three of us stopped in here one late afternoon recently, while on vacation. I have to say we loved this place. Perfect custom cocktails. Delicious twists on appetizers. Friendly, knowledgeable team. My understanding is that the owners traveled SE Asia and brought back tasty ideas, much more than that though. We only wish we had found it sooner! Hope to see you again. Ceviche fans - order it. The food as always was fantastic! Tonight's service by Joseph was impeccable, making our night wonderful. Also a shout out to the bartender (from Hungary). He made me the best Mezcal cocktail I have ever had. Dorothy's has a perfectly eclectic ambiance blending all for a great evening!!

We enjoyed a meal here at Dorothy's. The service is attentive and the food is amazing. Highly recommend either salad with the meal. I had the shredded Brussels salad and it was surprisingly delicious. My kids enjoyed the grilled romaine Caesar. The food was amazing from start to finish. Oysters- small plates - dinner - dessert all prepared and presented to perfection. We will be back Caveat- small place with big bar so larger parties should make reservations. Cocktails are legit.

This fine establishment was our favorite for the two years we lived in Georgia. The atmosphere and service were superb. Our favorite part of our dining experience was the amazing bartender Kazi Haranyi. He is someone who listens to what the customer wants. There were many times where he used his imagination to conjure up something unique and satisfying. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out if you are into fine dining establishments on St. Simons Island. All the best to Team Dorothy's.

I dined with friends at Dorothy's for dinner on 8/27/21 and really enjoyed it! We made a reservation but arrived a little early and were seated right away. They have a large parking lot with plenty of free parking. The ambiance is upscale beach-y, with palms, greenery and woven baskets for decor. They have a really nice bar area which could be a good option to dine for two. They also have a pretty large patio area if the weather is nice. Our server was very friendly and attentive and answered all our questions about the menu. They were also the first restaurant in a while to give us paper menus - yay! For our meal we had: *Hamachi crudo - they said overnight it from Japan. It was really fresh and love the flavors *Oysters *Fire charred octopus - interesting banana and mint with spice - loved this! *Crispy fish sandwich *Georgia shrimp roll *Tilefish - very mild, wasn't my favorite as there wasn't a ton of flavor I would definitely recommend Dorothy's while you are in St. Simons, whether for a special occasion or just a night out!

Excellent restaurant with innovative menu. Our server, Joseph, was friendly and knowledgeable about the food. We appreciated his care for us and his great smile! Love the Crab Rangoons! We loved the lively atmosphere.

Excellent all around. Oysters are wonderful and fresh. The ramen is my go to. And of course the bespoke cocktails are another keeper.

Well I called around 5:30, advised I was a single... oh yes, please come as the bar is open. Arrived around 5:50 a couple of open seats between a group of ladies, which was being held for a few friends, no problem. Move down to the end, 3 bar chairs available and the bartender told me, sorry these are reserved for 3 people arriving at 7:00 pm a whopping 1 hour and 10 minutes from that point..So you holding 3 seats at the bar for folks arriving in 70 minutes, meaning you could not serve me a drink and a burger in 70 minutes... Rather sad if I may say so...

This place is SO cute!! They have an incredible selection small and large plates and drinks, but the Crab Rangoons were AMAZING!!! Our server, Hunter, took such great care of us and made us feel welcome + answered all of our questions. DEFINITELY going back!

Beautiful decor! Perfect for celebrating a special occasion or upscale date night. Julian was a great server! Very knowledgeable and attentive. Excellent small plates to share. The bartender made me a lovely, complex mocktail.

Some of the best food our family has had near Sea Island. Excellent service from Shea, easily the best Wagyu in a long time, and a really solid Asian fusion cuisine. Can't say enough great things about this place and our family will be coming back very soon.

Outstanding restaurant that is a gem for St Simons! Drinks are expertly crafted, best selection bar I have ever seen. Phenomenal attentive staff that wants your experience to be great! Loved how the chef came and checked on us and offered his suggestions! Food is on another level of great. The chef clearly worked years creating this unique and dynamic menu. We tried many of the small plates and they just kept getting better and better! The raw bar is something special on its own, go with a group so you can try them all! We loved our meal and our favorites were -hamachi crisp -Salmon belly melts in your mouth -oysters with house made sauce -tuna tartare -Szechuan noodles -bo ssam (pork shoulder) was unbelievable. Ask your server for the expert way to eat it -fried rice

Cocktails, Food, and Decor all a wonderfully creative mix of Asian and Southern culture. Our server Joseph was very informative and attentive. The pork sausage skewers were the standout dish of the night and the Gucci Wallpaper cocktail was a delightful mix of tropical refreshment and floral and herbal complexity.

We came here for a drink as we were ending our night and my Birthday! Colby was our Bartender, but that might be quite descriptive enough! My friend had an Italian drink to cap our evening. When Colby heard it was my birthday, he offered a taste to my friend and another patron! Great Bar, beautiful atmosphere and a most friendly staff! TWO THUMBS WAY UP!

Dorothy's is SO FANTASTIC!!!!!! The food, the drinks, the decor and most importantly, THE NAME!!!! A must when visiting St. Simons or Sea Island!!! Enjoy!!

Incredible ambiance paired with the most delicious and creative craft cocktails. The food is delicious with an artful flair. The entire experience was perfect!

I think the name says it all- the oysters were phenomenal and the cocktails were the best I've had in SSI (better than anything we had at the cloister). The raw bar dishes were definitely reminiscent of tapas and more destined for small bites/sharing than stand alone dishes. The tartare and salmon belly were rich but with a clean finish and really satisfying (even for a 2-biter)! 4/5 only because the non-seafood entrees were middle of the road. The tomahawk pork chop was a bit dry and the kitchen had actually run out of true tomahawk cuts and ended up using a less than stellar t-bone cut instead. Could just be an isolated thing but it'd be worth asking which cuts are available if you're thinking of ordering. Doesn't dissuade me from coming back- I'd definitely park myself at the bar for a dozen oysters and a good cocktail-

Wow, our new favorite restaurant in SSI! Somehow each course was better than the last, and service was top notch! Every person that touched our table was so helpful & friendly, but Ellen Grace was the best server. When I was torn between which wine to order, she was kind enough to offer a little taste of each so that I was sure to order exactly what I wanted, which is so nice when you're purchasing a nicer wine. The chef also came out to chat & made us feel appreciated & right at home. We will be coming back every chance we get.

So good! My parents have lived on the island for years so I have been to almost every restaurant and this is a new favorite. The service and food was incredible. I can't wait to come back!

Environment is aesthetically pleasing. All the food was 5/5 stars. We had great appetizers and really delicious entrees. The only con was the seating seems a bit crammed for the space. overall, i would recommend!

A must when visiting sea island area! The food was outstanding and atmosphere a 10/10!! You have to get a selfie on the famous pink crane wall when you go! The owners are so sweet & the staff was so helpful in selecting menu items! I highly suggest the oysters, Hamachi, salmon, tuna, and half chicken! Burger was also outstanding! Now let's talk about drinks, I literally loved every single drink I tried. The Keemla Bungalow is a must try! Great cocktail menu and wine list! They have a perfect outdoor patio seating area too!

Dorothy's is one of my favorite restaurants on the island and really anywhere. The food is amazing but the cocktails are the best I've had anywhere and the wine list is deep and unique. Kazi makes the best cocktails, I don't even choose one I just say dealer's choice and am amazed every time by his creations. He is also very knowledgable with wine and will pick you something amazing yet unique. It is also a very fun and cool place to be. Decor is on point. Go to Dorothy's, talk to Kazi, and be prepared to want to go back the next night.

We had two pretty good experiences there. Then, last week, the staff acknowledged we had made a reservation but refused to honor it. The place was virtually empty but we were told there was another reservation for our table an hour later. Incredible! We left and went elsewhere. We'll never go back. Never.

Loved the ambiance and decor. The appetizers were amazing and so were the drinks! We were there for happy hour. Would definitely return!

My wife and I have been to Dorothy's twice now and both times have had real good experiences. The food is delicious, the service has been great and it has a real warm atmosphere. The bartender Barnabas mixed us some real good cocktails and provided fantastic service. There was one little mishap during our second visit where we had ordered one thing and they brought us something else, just a little mixup, no big deal. The manager came over right away to apologize, got the original order taken care off and let us keep the wrong one at no charge. Great customer service experience. I definitely recommend Dorothy's.

We had a very enjoyable meal at Dorothy's during our trip to Sea Island. We lucked out having Ellen Grace take care of us and she helped make excellent recommendations on both cocktails and our dinner choices. The restaurant was really beautiful and everything about the dinner was remarkable.we now have a new favorite restaurant and can't wait to return!

Stopped into Dorothy's for a cocktail and apps. We were blown away by the oysters on the half shell and shrimp ceviche!! So good!! Everything on the menu looked divine. Ellen Grace was an excellent server and due to her telling us about the espresso martini and bourbon caramel bread pudding we made a late night visit back to Dorothy's to enjoy those! Omg is all I can say. Stop into this little gem of a restaurant when are at SSI-you won't regret it!!

Shae is an amazing server and made our experience amazing! She had great recommendations and accommodated all of our needs! Highly recommend! All the food was fantastic.

I love this place. The food was absolutely exquisite. Also the people are very friendly. It was my birthday and they made sure to give me bread pudding, (on the house) which was super tasty. For good food, good people, and a delightful night out, this is the place!

We've eaten at Dorothy's several times and the service is always good, the cocktails incredible and the food excellent. We highly recommend reservations however. Definitely a great place!!!

If you are going for drinks & appetizers or drinks & raw bar this place is great however if you are going for a comfortable place to sit with delicious entrees this isn't the place which is why out of the 7 meals we've had during our visit this was our least favorite and most likely would not choose to return. The Prince Edward Island Oysters were delicious and the Tuna Tartare was exquisite but the shrimp ceviche, grilled Caesar salad, noodle appetizer, pho entree, salmon entree and skewered meat missed the mark both in presentation and flavor. I will also say that the average customer will not be able to handle the level of spiciness.
