The 21 Best Restaurants In Margate - London - The Infatuation

"Dory’s, a seafood bar on the high street, a little further down from the 2p and claw machines, is somewhere you need to check out. The menu at the sibling restaurant to Angela’s changes depending on the daily catch, but it’s bound to be pretty exquisite. Crab on green beans, cumin-rubbed raw trout, and melt-in-your-mouth stewed squid with sweet tomatoes gives you a general gist. They also specialise in English-made wine and the changing by-the-glass list is great." - jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Which suits the less organised day-tripper." - jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Came down to Margate for a long weekend/stayed in a local Airbnb & host recommended to us to try this place… We weren’t disappointed. Loved the place… next time will try sister restaurant round corner. We arrived for a late lunch re dog regulations here. (We’ve a large dog). The young helpful waitress gave us menus and we were seated, overlooking kitchen at a bar style arrangement, (which was great as I’m a chef ) the wife chose smk prawns for an entree which was a bowl with an aioli style mayonnaise on side ( very tasty) & I went for the marinated raw bream with a matching wine which was superb…. And some bread to mop up juices… I followed that with baked bass with creamed chard. And side of new potatoes…. The bass was superb. The wife had the baked pumpkin main… which she thoroughly enjoyed. Proportions are small tapas style plates…. Again had a matching wine with what the waitress suggested. Overall, the food was to a high standard and the service excellent off Lydia . The bill was £92 for lunch. Which wasn’t too bad compared to what it would cost in London….. Very enjoyable, if we’re back in Margate, we’d definitely come again….

Decided we wanted a light lunch of seafood. And they offer walkins. Such a good decision. We had 4 small dishes and everything was amazing. Fresh and full of flavour. Beautiful prepare. And excellent cocktail, drinks and wine list. Everything we saw go out of the open kitchen made us want to order more (we resisted) but will be back to Margate to eat here and the sister restaurant Angela's.

The staff are very friendly and will happily recommend dishes when asked! The sea bream carpaccio was delicious, with a refreshing orange tang and rich umami flavour. The bass was cooked to perfection – I highly recommend ordering it when you visit. With wine and dessert included, it came to around £40-50 per person.

Tapas type of seafood. We are a group of 6 and tried almost all dishes together. Not the typical kind of seafood platter but very unique cooking methods and seasoning for each single dish. Kids have finished some dishes before we have the chance to take photos. Very good dining experience and highly recommend the raw bream.

Overall, a pleasant dinner. I sat at the bar facing the open kitchen, which added a nice touch to the experience. The chef was very friendly and helpful, which really made up for the otherwise minimal service and welcome. The food was excellent : the raw sea bream was absolutely delicious. The plate of English cheeses was well-selected and full of flavour. And the strawberry mess was a perfect finish: fresh, indulgent, and not too sweet. Great food, and a nice atmosphere thanks to the interaction with the chef.

I had a truly lovely lunch at Dory’s Margate—a relaxed, charming spot that really showcases the best of seasonal coastal dining. I ordered the mackerel, which was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The only small suggestion I’d make is to consider adding a slightly more sour element to the pickle sides, just to balance out the saltiness of the fish a bit more. That extra zing could really elevate an already delicious dish! For dessert, the lemon posset was a dream—light, creamy, and perfectly tart. It was the ideal way to round off the meal. The staff were warm and attentive, and the whole atmosphere felt effortless and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back again soon—highly recommended for anyone who enjoys simple food done with care and skill.

Not the most comfortable seating or much space to eat but a great array of seafood options. Smoked prawns were a great start to the meal!

Beautiful seafood in an approachable setting. Everything was exemplary but the crab on toast was life-changing; delicate and substantial. We sat facing the open kitchen and enjoyed fabulous wine and service. The chefs were happy to alter a meal for an allergy. Just so good.
