"It won’t take long to make friends at Dos Alas Cubarican Cafe, whether that’s with one of the owners as you walk in or the people at the table next to you. The food combines the Puerto Rican and Cuban backgrounds of the founders to create a menu filled with favorites from both islands, like pollo en escabeche, picadillo con arroz, and yuca al mojo. This place is a little more out of the way—it’s located between downtown Mammoth and Snowcreek Resort within the Sierra Meadows Ranch—but the views alone are worth the drive, especially if you visit during the summer and sit outside. You might even be lucky enough to visit when a live band is playing and the whole place spontaneously bursts into dance. Just another night at Dos Alas." - Danielle Bauter

Best restaurant in Mammoth. Love that they immediately ask if you need a vegetarian menu. Only one vegan entree but it’s absolutely delicious. They also have a vegan dessert. This spot is always a must while we’re in Mammoth.

Wow! As an executive chef I am hard to impress. This restaurant is a gem. The food is fresh and FANTASTIC, the service is excellent and the atmosphere….. unforgettable! Watching the sunset at Mammoth while listening to great music and eating fabulous food is a perfect way to enjoy the evening. A must visit if you are at Mammoth or within 100 miles!

We went to Dos Alas this past Saturday for a nice slow dinner after a long day of hiking. Great views, super friendly and engaging staff, reasonable prices, and fantastic food. Not much else to say. What's not to love! Highly recommend.

Amazing! As Cubans living in Miami, we never expected to find such a delicious Cuban/Puerto Rican restaurant in Mammoth Lakes. We made reservations at 8:30 pm and were seated promptly. The food, the service and ambiance were excellent! You can tell the owner Christy loves what she does because she gave us great recommendations. We had the garlic bread, piñon with rice and habichuelas (red kidney beans), and pork with rice and black beans. Highly recommend checking it out, you won’t regret it.

4.5 stars. Great little restaurant in Mammoth that gets busy, so we highly recommend reservations. It can be a little cramped so just be prepared to squeeze through tables. Their menu is overall delicious. We tried a bunch of things, but I'm sure the stuff we didn't try is also good. We started out with a carafe of Sangria. The Sangria is definitely one of the best I've ever had (and I love Sangria). We liked it so much, we got another carafe to end dinner with. Then came the Spanish potato and egg pie. Yum or delicious is not enough to describe this pie - hot, fried, perfectly seasoned...it was just the thing we needed on a cold night and an entire day of driving. I absolutely recommend this! This was followed by the 3 piece skewers (pork much better than the chicken), the crispy plantains (an absolute delight to eat, particularly with the garlic sauce and the sweet sauce they came with), the fried plantains (not really my style but they were also good), and the pickled chicken. The pickled chicken was disappointing. It wasn't as cooked as we would've liked it. The pickled liquid and onion with olives were very yummy. So, we ended up having that, rather than the chicken pieces. For the main, I got the manchego cheese and guava jelly sandwich because it was different and I wanted to try it. It had an option of adding ham. I did. Don't do it. The ham wasn't as crispy as I would've liked and it made the whole sandwich very salty. Without the ham, the sandwich was very yummy! Definitely on the sweeter side but totally worth it. I highly recommend it. The beef stew and the meat pie basically have the stew which is a highlight of the meal. Whichever one you take, you win! The bean soup accompanying them was also delicious. Again, I highly recommend it. This was our best dining experience in Mammoth. The food is worth the wait and pricing. An absolute must-check-out when you come here. P.S. the parking lot is the first left before the restaurant so please don't drive all the way to the restaurant building as you will be on a dirt road. The servers are nice but there could be a language barrier. The pricing is on the higher side.

It has a rustic ambiance with Caribbean vibe. It's a resort town, and it's reflected in their pricing. Flavors are ok. Our pork skewer was dry. We have pickled shrimp and octopus; the flavor is all right, but it's kind of off putting with eggs and oil. Guava Glazed Ham was cooked very nicely; however it is way too sweet. Ground beef stew with rice was interesting; olives made the dish work. However, all the entrees are heavy on the rice and beans with a small portion of protein. The host seemed to be offended when we didn't want to take beans with us. It's just beans, and the Cuban Black Beans are just bland.

Long wait time so make sure you have a reservation. They close the kitchen at 9pm so you can always come back later. The food is good, except for the grilled chicken. It's very dry and not much flavor. Overall good experience and I would recommend!

you pay for the ambiance. we came in right when they opened in the middle of the week and they asked if we had a reservation. it’s not listed clearly on the website or on google. the waitress recommended the garlic bread and cuban black beans but she pretty much forced us to get it. luckily it was good but she could have used a different sales approach to recommended it. my boyfriend ordered the picadillo. it was great. i ended up eating some of his. i ordered the camarónes en escabeche. i was so disappointed when i saw it. most escabeche has more than just olives and onion in it. after one of the waitresses saw that i wasn’t happy with the escabeche they gave me fried plantains on the house. when the plantains came, a different waitress came. i’m assuming the owner. the owner stated that the shrimp was the highest quality. for drinks we got the agave wine. very good with some plantains. after we were done the waitress straight up asked how much we wanna tip. most people say “it’s gonna ask you a question right here”. i said thank you for helping us and that i had a good experience despite the escabeche. and she ignored me. the menu is chaotic and has random sentences in Spanish that seem over the top.
