Went there for lunch today and was extremely disappointed by the food. We should have know when we walked in and there was only one person in the restaurant. I ordered the smothered bean burrito and my husband ordered the asada smothered burrito and they gave him fajita meat instead. The rice was extremely dry it seemed like it was cooked a couple days ago and reheated multiple times and the beans were also really dry. Also apparently smothered means queso on top. Wish the menu would specify that. We were thinking it would come with some sort of enchilada sauce. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Google
The service was amazing. We went on a busy evening (Friday) and there was a bit of a wait but the owner kept providing us with updates and was very kind. The staff was amazing they were knowledgeable about the menu and checked on our group (6) often. The food was hot and it was very tasty. We have come here several times and each time we have been treated like a valued customer.

Place had just opened for a couple of hours. The waiter seemed sleepy. He took our drink order. The horchata was the powdered mix. The Dr. Pepper was so watered down(grosse). We asked for the large guacamole, and the young man brought three small balls of it. My daughter and I got the fajitas for two. More veggies than meat. My plate of sides looked and tasted like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for quite some time. Bean's from a can. The top layer of the "Spanish" rice was crunchy, while the bottom layer was squishy. Uncle Ben's Spanish rice in the bag tastes better. We left it there and just left. This place was definitely not worth it. We will never go back. What a waste of time.

Nice little place to get a bite to eat

Google
This place is pretty good, I love the asado here! The chips and salsa is really good too!!! The queso could be a little better but maybe it's just not my style, it is a pretty small place as well so it gets really packed at times so be ready for a wait. The only bad thing about this place is that you have to pay at the register instead of with your waitress so when it's really packed your wait to get in and to get out, also the enchiladas aren't that great, but the tacos were pretty good, all in all a pretty good place, come try it out!

Google
Ordered fajitas they arrived with no tortillas or hot sauce. Called restaurant they said I have to order and pay $2 for 2oz of hot sauce, or $5 for 8oz. You only get guacamole and sour cream. I can drive back up there and get my tortillas if I want. The Lady who answered the phone didn’t want to hear my concerns, and told me to call back and speak to Robert. No thanks. I wonder if they realize the success of any business is repeated business. I am a business owner too, mistakes do happen but you make things right and in return the customer is happy. A happy customer will keep coming back for years and will recommend your establishment to friends and family and your business will grow. Did I mention this is at 2:30pm non business hours? Lucky for me there are other great Mexican Restaurants near the country club who provide their customers free hot sauce with any order. My order for one was $27, I think 2oz of hot sauce is deserving. I do love their food I hope they can get their service and customer service inline.

Overall a quality locally owned Mexican food restaurant with great food and good service. Usually low wait times.

Google
12/04/21 There are lots of native Odessans that consider this their favorite Mexican place to eat and I can see why. The service was fast and friendly, the food was delicious as well. My husband and I ate chips, salsa and queso. I had the combination plate with 2 beef tacos, 2 beef enchiladas with red sauce that were not spicy and my husband had the carne guisada that had a little kick to it. We also enjoyed the tres leches that was very sweet but had the perfect amount of liquid to make the cake moist. Prices were in line with the area. I would come back and would recommend.

Yelp
Dos Compadres as become they typical go to for dine in Mexican food whenever I'm in town. Inside it's nice and spacious and well decorated but with no frills. The staff is nice. My dad and his lady friend go there often and we were greeted warmly when we walked in. The manager/owner joked briefly with my dad as he gathered our menus. There was no wait at all and we were able to go right to our table. One thing I noticed that was nice was a sign on their door saying they'd be closed for a week or so for summer vacation. How nice for all the employees. All the food I've tried is great. The rice & beans well seasoned, thoroughly cooked and tasty. Pork asado, enchiladas, and gorditas perfect. The complimentary chips and salsa are also good. When our chips came out they were a little burnt but they swapped them out for us without issue. The salsa was delicious just a little too spicy for me to eat too much of it but I'd say that's a compliment.

Yelp
Met some friends for a business dinner while in town and the food was amazing. Very well seasoned and hit the spot with a nice cold Corona to wash it all down. Service was hit and miss, but not going to put too muck on that cause it was a pretty busy Thursday night.

Yelp
Orlando is the shining star!!! He was our waiter and very friendly and courteous. This is the FIRST time I have seen waiters cleaning the way he did. He actually cleaned every leg and cushion from top to floor, Bravo Orlando. Now for the food. It was great. My wife and I used to go there quite often and as time goes by.... Well tonight was the night to go. Wife had cheese enchiladas and chicken taco. I had the combo skewers beef and chicken. Oh Wow. Chicken was awesome. Will definitely go back.

Heather M.

Yelp
The waitress that we had was excellent, I started coughing after I ate some hot sauce, which was my fault she offered to get me a glass of water to try to get me a quick coughing . We ask for medium shell tacos. They were excellent. they had a lot of meat and the tomatoes had flavor. Customer service was excellent. Food was reasonable. The atmosphere was great. when we checked out the girl stated to get the chicken fajitas tacos. So that's what we'll get the next time we go.. I was not disappointed.

Kelly D.

Yelp
I have never had bad service or bad food and I've been going here for many years. It is definitely at the top of my list for Mexican food. They do not disappoint.

Yelp
Kim is the very best; She is so sweet, friendly, attentive & despite being on the go she takes extra time to make you feel welcome & your business appreciated. The service is exceptional here! Plus good food, can't go wrong. A little face lift for the building and it would be 5 stars.

Yelp
Love this place! Salsa is delicious! Food is fabulous! Service is great! Great hours too! Always clean and food is always fresh!

Celene H.

Yelp
Went in thinking it was a Mexican restaurant. I went for the traditional tacos and asked what meats they had and was told it was Tex-mex style of food. I ended up ordering two beef fajita tacos with rice and beans. When my food came out it was given just beef (steak). Steak was good but needed the grilled onions and bell peppers. Rice and beans were alright. Overall good experience waitress was really helpful. If you like texmex this is your place

Yelp
This was my second time visiting Dos Compadres and it was on St. Patrick's Day. It was quite busy already when we arrived and we were sat promptly. The salsa is delicious and super fresh - we dived into the chips stat! The Pacifico's are ice cold and refreshing. I love their Pork Green Chile that comes with refried beans, a scoop of guac, and tortillas. Those are great to dip into the PGC and refried beans. Service was great; we are from out of town so we still wore our masks to and from the table, even though the mandate is no longer. Note that there is a two top right in front of the bar; that is where we sat. There is a rug that doesn't lie flat and most of the servers tripped on it....so it's a bit of a tripping hazard that should be fixed so a server doesn't land on their face or in a lap of a customer.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided to try this place tonight. The chips and the salsa are the BOMB. The house margaritas were meh and the shrimp fajitas were okay but fajitas should come out on a hot platter SIZZLING, right? These had no sizzle and the veggies were hardly cooked. They were almost raw. The rice and beans were good but we like our food HOT temperature wise. I'm glad we had some really good chips and salsa. The waiter was nice too.
google avatar

Denna G.

Yelp
Love this place good prices, good service and good food. You get a hot plate full of food and you get chips and salsa.

Yelp
I LOVE Dos Compadres, my favorite Mexican restaurant in Odessa by far. They have amazing salsa and I love their horchata as well. I come here as much as possible when I'm in town. Great service every time and the food is always incredible! My favorite thing on the menu is the Chile rellenos, I get them every time.
google avatar

Lupe G.

Yelp
We ordered queso and they give us nacho cheese. High priced for not so great food. Too many flies.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to come eat at, the owners, staff, and food are amazing. Highly recommend Friday special and a Margarita.

Yelp
After a great barbecue meal at Pody's in Pecos, we were looking for some Mexican and trying to avoid Tex-Mex. We ended up at Dos Compadres, the location in Odessa which was pretty close to our hotel. It is a nice strip mall place and is larger than you would think. It was pretty busy on this Saturday night. We started with a pureed salsa fresca and the usual restaurant style ships. The salsa had good balance of sweet, tart and salt with a little heat. We also had an order of chile con queso. This was yellow in color and pretty mild. It could have used both more chile and cheddary cheese flavor but was OK. Ms T ordered ground beef tacos a la carte. This sounds pretty gringo, but she said the beef was very well seasoned and was very happy with her choice. I had a chile verde dinner which was excellent. The chile verde had good tomatillo content and still tasted of green chile. The pork was tender and juicy, well cooked. For desert, which we never order, we caved and tried sopapillas. This was no mistake, these are clearly homemade. They were a different style from what we always eat in Santa Fe. Some may find them a bit greasy, but I even added butter and of course honey and then wished I had another one. This was a very good meal for both of us. The people were very nice and provided good service.

Brandon S.

Yelp
The service was good, everything else was pretty bad! Margarita was sour, the nacho cheese "queso" was bland, the taco was greasy, and everything else was flavorless. Really disappointed.
google avatar

James G.

Yelp
First of all, they charge an extra 75 cents to put cheese on a single taco! Then the owner had the stones to argue with me about it, saying that only fast food restaurants don't charge for cheese on a taco! (We go to LOTS of Mexican food restaurants all over Midland/Odessa and none of them charge extra for cheese on a taco, in fact La Esperanza piles it on the tacos at no extra charge.) Second, the queso was bland, the enchilada sauce tasted horrible, and the taco shell was soggy and fell apart from sitting in grease from the rest of the meal. The rice was dry and the beans were bland. The tamale must have been "cross contaminated" from sopapillas being made nearby because it had a taste of cinnamon in it. My wife's guacamole tasted like it had bananas in it. I keep going to the place again every couple of years, knowing I hated the last visit because they have consistently poor quality food. Never again. There are too many better places to go for Mexican food in Odessa. Avoid this place.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
We had a large party, the service was good, but I wouldn't consider the food authentic at all.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Will never order to go again not only was I charged $24 for chips salsa and an asado plate but made it home to not find my tortillas in the bag n had to drive back. I wouldn't mind them charging me $3.50 for just salsa if it wasn't so small. Food isn't bad I'll give them that just wouldn't recommend ordering Togo. If u wanna eat here sit down to eat or it won't be worth it
google avatar

Yelp
It was very awkward the minute we walked in. Says wait to be seated but we was never talked to until about 10min later. Service is absolutely horrible. Nothing like ice water being hot. Bathrooms extremely nasty. Anyhow ordered chicken fajitas and they was good cold but good. Had to wait after getting my fajitas an additional 25min to be able to ask for my tortillas. Asked for a large hot sauce to go and we didn't get that. I wouldn't go back for awhile
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
BOMB TACOS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. Rice is absolutely amazing! Salsa is always good and love their queso! Haven't had anything I don't like from them! Great service and people every time!

Jenna R.

Yelp
So good. Been searching for guacamole w/o onions and enchiladas with Chile sauce instead of tomato. It was all delicious and the service was exceptionally. My husband loved the salsa (spicy) and his chicken fajitas were great. Rice was free of mixed veggies, also our personal preference. Patient with my questions and very attentive. Will definitely try the Midland location. New favorite Mexican restaurant.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Wanted some cheese dip so we got some to go and it is yellow and had no flavor. I love yellow cheese dip but this wanted had no taste.

Misty S.

Yelp
RIP OFF!!! If you get take out they charge you for guacamole, you don't get free chips or salsa nope. You pay for chips. You pay for salsa and you pay for guacamole. Don't order tacos either because if you want cheese on your taco, they will charge you extra!!! GREEEEEEDY!!! We have stopped going and ordering out from there as well and it's too bad because we used to eat there once a week and we tipped very well. What a shame. Greed got this place.
google avatar

Jeff P.

Yelp
Food is bland tortillas are stale and most of the staff stand around and do nothing. Most of the alcohol drinks are in mixing machines nothing is fresh. One and only time for me. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Bill H.

Yelp
Good food and good service. The margaritas are really good; they go down a little too smoothly. Although the restaurant is usually crowded, we have never felt rushed. The wait staff and management have been very nice to us and have keep the chips and salsa flowing. I have had better Mexican food, but this is definitely very good and a nice family place.

Gina R.

Yelp
Very sad to announce we will no longer be visiting this restaurant. My husband and I had been coming here for the last 7 years (which is when we moved to West Tx) and are now done hoping it would go back to its original ways. It was disappointing that we took family there who were visiting from out of town for it to be worse than the last time we were there. Food: you do not get what you pay for. They are now skimping on meat and garnishes such as lettuce and cheese for tacos. Enchiladas that were ordered to go.... well, I had to look in the box to make sure there were actually enchiladas in the box because it was so light it did not feel like I was carrying anything. Customer service is good, but you will not leave satisfied if you choose to go here for a "meal."

Vanessa M.

Yelp
First time here today! If you really think this 2 tacos & 2 very small enchiladas with little bit of rice and little bit of beans is worth 11.95 before tax?? Then go ahead and waste ur money! I've got the same food in California for the same price except it came with lettuce, sour cream, avocados and bigger portions of everything. Not coming here again! Not worth the price wat so ever!!
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
It started when I called for a carry out order. They said it would take 10 minutes. Don't get me wrong I didn't expect 10 minute which is fine but when I got there they we very unresponsive to making sure my order was ready. Took them 40 minutes from the time I arrived. I asked 4 different waitresses how my order was doing they never came back after walking into the back telling me they would check. All they did was go check and go about their business while joking around. Bad customer service. Don't spend your money here
google avatar

Tarenda M.

Yelp
I love the food at this place. I'm from New Mexico and I get Mexican food very close to what I like. It taste great and the portions are large. The chip and salsa is very fresh. Go try it for your self.
google avatar

John E.

Yelp
The food is great, and the wait staff is good, however we will never be back here again. We called these guys a month before to reserve the restaurant for 40 people for a 50th Anniversary party. We had 3 extra people show up. The owners son refused to accommodate us and called the fire department on us. Instead of telling us there was a problem so we could fix it he set out to ruin our party. Though we were 2-3 times a week customer, no one ever reached out to us. Instead we got a worker there on Facebook who responded with, "oh well". Do not book a party here. And do not expect that they appreciate your business. You are replaceable.
google avatar

Eddy B.

Yelp
One of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in town! Eat here at least once a week!! Have tried almost everything on the menu, but steak ranchero, stacked enchiladas or Friday Special are some of my favorites!
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
We were staying at the Fairfield Inn next-door just happened to walk around the corner and there was this little Mexican restaurant we walked in six of us from out of town for being there for the oil shall we all sat down and order some margaritas and order some dinner and it was a great atmosphere I would recommend this place to anyone the staff there and enjoy it

Joey F.

Yelp
We came here at the recommendation of a friend. The salsa was spicy. It was pretty good. I had the Carne Guisada. It was probably the bast I had ever had. Everyone also enjoyed their meals. I would definitely eat here again. The waitstaff also did a pretty good job at keeping our drink glasses filled. Overall this was a pleasant dining experience. The only reason I did not give it 5 Stars was we had to wait several times for salsa when we were out.

Mary Ann S.

Yelp
Been my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Odessa for many years. Never disappoints! I highly recommend for authentic Mexican food. The family who owns it are all so very sweet and welcoming. The work hard to keep their customers happy.

Maria R.

Yelp
The food is not good. The rice and beans were flavorless. I couldn't even finish eating my meal because the food was just not appetizing. The sweet tea was good and it was a cheap meal, but do not recommend nor will we go back.
google avatar

A C.

Yelp
The chips and slasa are good ... the Wait-staff well they dont give a crap about u ... I have seen people walk about befor cause the wait staff is just no paying attention and talking and doing their makeup ... MY Suggestion is if u want to eat at this restraunt ... GO to Midland to the original Dos Compadres wear the owners are always at and i know of 2 of the wait staff and cooks are the original from when thay OPENED... GO TO MIDLAND ITS WORTH THE TRIP
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
The salsa is really good. Most people would consider the salsa spicy. I had the chicken fajitas for dinner. The portions and price are hard to beat. The waiter and staff were prompt and very attentive.

David T.

Yelp
We come here often and have always liked the food, it's more Authentic than most Mexican restaurants in this area. Now Yelp rate this Restaurant with 2.5 stars but I am here to tell you that's its worth 5 stars and in 2020 they just received an award for best Mexican Restaurant in the area. There salsa is very good and the food speaks for itself and the owner is hands on. He cleans and buses tables and helps seat the customers. The atmosphere is great and we highly recommend Dos Compadres.
google avatar

Marisol H.

Yelp
Not authentic whatsoever! Store bought tortillas (you can tell the difference when homemade). Salsa was overly salted. The fajitas were decent. The rice and beans though tasted store bought as well. Overall I would consider this as good as Taco Cabana (which is crappy). Customer service was just as bad as the food. We had to wave down our waiter for refills each time. Don't waist you money!

Manuel S.

Yelp
Horrible enchiladas all it is, is unseasoned ground beef wrapped up in store bought tortilla with canned cheese sauce... they don't even use enchilada sauce... never again

Jake L.

Yelp
The service is terrible, the food tastes microwaved, the music is loud, dirty, bad location, and is too cold.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
You know it was okay. The queso was really watered down velveeta no flavor. Margaritas were all mix no tequila really sweet. My expectations were low at this point so the food was eatable. On the up side the service was good, very nice people.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
We ordered take out - A combo of chicken tacos and chicken enchiladas, two beef fajita tacos, and the Gil's special. No one was very impressed, two of us were pretty disappointed. The enchiladas have way too many peppers in the meat and that's the only flavor there was. The rice and beans were terrible and the tortillas were entirely too greasy. The Gil's special had my sister searching everywhere for salt to flavor it. I'm potentially biased because in Houston we have no shortage of incredible Mexican and Tex Mex, but this is not very good.
google avatar

Shay H.

Yelp
The place is small, but gets packed at dinner time. It's pretty good near authentic Mexican food. The bar has a good selection. The service is wonderful. It's a good place, but I don't find it quite memorable. But it will take care of your hunger pains.

S L.

Yelp
Long wait for a table. Long wait for the food to be served. Food bland. Won't return. Rather have Rosa's.
google avatar

Sonya D.

Yelp
We have been eating here for the past 10 years, primarily for lunch. The food is great and the staff is very nice. They can get busy, especially now with the oil boom, so try and get there at an off time!!!! The inside is a bit shabby, but very comfortable!!!!

Franklin C.

Yelp
Not very good this place has changed a lot even the food Mexican food in my book suppose to be spicy oh well there's other places to go
google avatar

Brent P.

Yelp
I love their salsa! The wait staff is always very attentive and fast. Sometimes the chips aren't fresh. The queso doesn't taste very good. The beef enchiladas with green sauce are delicious! My wife loves their cheese enchiladas
