The 12 Best Nashville Restaurants For A Birthday Dinner - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Think of Dos Santos as the opener before the big act. It’s the perfect hype spot to get a birthday group in a party state of mind, and there’s a pretty great slate of Mexican dishes here to boot. A lot of the party vibe at this Wedgewood-Houston Mexican spot can be chalked up to the strong Miami influence—from the loud, thumping rap to the flamingoes and Miami Vice-themed logos on their merch. But the very shareable plates of perfectly crisp poke nachos, pork-stuffed quesadillas, and barbacoa tacos are great for a group that’s getting ready for a long night. Oh, look: the Flamingo Cocktail Club is right down the street." - jackie gutierrez jones 2, ann walczak

The 11 Most Fun Dinner Spots In Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Dos Santos comes to Nashville by way of Colorado. Which surprises us because everything about this Mexican restaurant in Wedgewood-Houston screams Miami—from the loud, thumping rap on the speakers to the flamingoes and Miami Vice-themed logos on their merch. It’s a perfect group spot for a clubby-ish dinner with a bunch of friends to begin a night out. Start with fresh and perfectly crisp poke nachos with pickled jalapeños and onions before really filling up with hearty wedges of pork-stuffed quesadillas and a barbacoa taco with a satisfying vinegary pucker. The creamy and custard-like flan is a solid way to end the meal, but we recommend lighting up all those nostalgia buttons with the choco taco instead. After that, keep the party rolling at Flamingo Cocktail Club right down the street." - jackie gutierrez jones 2, ann walczak

Dos Santos - Review - Wedgewood-Houston - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Dos Santos comes to Nashville by way of Colorado. Which surprises us because everything about this Mexican restaurant in Wedgewood-Houston screams Miami—from the loud, thumping rap on the speakers to the flamingoes and Miami Vice-themed logos on their merch. The dimly lit, clubby vibes make it the perfect group spot for a pre-gaming kind of dinner, although we wish the drinks were worthy of the atmosphere. Speaking of drinks, the bar—a long tabletop that taps one end of the room and stretches all the way to the next—is right up front, so you know where their priorities are. Unfortunately, the drinks here are fairly hit or miss. Stick with beer—although the dirty horchata is a solid dessert move if you know you’re fated to end up on a dance floor in a few short minutes. photo credit: Dos Santos photo credit: Dos Santos photo credit: Dos Santos Pause Unmute Luckily, the food picks up the slack. Start with perfectly crisp poke nachos with pickled jalapeños and onions before sharing hearty wedges of pork-stuffed quesadillas with some friends. The tacos also stand out, and the barbacoa version has a satisfying vinegary pucker. While the creamy and custard-like flan is a solid way to end the meal, we recommend lighting up all those nostalgia buttons with the choco taco instead. After that, keep the party rolling at Flamingo Cocktail Club right down the street. But finish that dirty horchata first. Food Rundown Dirty Horchata This particular cocktail standouts in the sea of mediocre sips. It’s not too sweet, and the swift kick of rum adds a nice level of depth to the nutty rice milk. photo credit: Dos Santos Poke Nachos There’s some deft layering here, a skill that comes in handy for maximizing the tortilla-to-topping ratio. The tuna poke is fresh and bright, and the pickled onions add an interesting dash of tanginess. photo credit: Hannah Kik Quesadilla When the menu says these quesadillas are large, believe it. The stack of asadero cheese-stuffed wedges can easily feed two, especially when you add one of the meat options to the mix. Go for the chicken, which adds some of its chargrilled smokiness to each slice. photo credit: Dos Santos Barbacoa Tacos You really can’t go wrong with any of the tacos here, but the barbacoa edges out the rest with addition of a vinegary kimchi and creamy sriracha aioli as toppings. photo credit: Hannah Kik Choco Taco The little stegasaurus figure this choco taco is served in is certifiably cute. And with its creamier ice cream filling and rich chocolate coating, it tastes even better than the childhood version we remember. photo credit: Hannah Kik" - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
