Raise a Toast to Bartenders With Tequila Cocktails at These North Carolina Bars | Eater

"Dos Taquitos, a family-run spot on Raleigh’s busy Glenwood Ave, celebrates a match made in heaven: tacos and tequila. Dos Taquitos has been slinging this dynamic duo since the 90s, and doesn’t shy away from bright colors and large portions, as it should be. The mini-trains delivering drinks and desserts (yes!) and the ceiling of colorful lights make fun palpable here. The big-plate portions of arepas, chimichanga and crispy fish tacos make this an ideal spot for groups, and the frozen margarita and signature soft-serve marg are a nice touch. Come for any of the weeknight deals, like Margarita Monday or family Wednesdays. Teremana is meant to be had in a place like Dos Taquitos." - Vox Creative

Entering the parking lot alone brought me to Mexico. They have an iconic Kombi parked right out front that made me smile! What's even better, they have a chicken pen where they collect eggs from and have little baggies for their customers to take home with! The inside of the restaurant is VERY much alive! The color is so vibrant, the art work around the restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is AMAZING! I love that they have trains that bring you queso, guacamole, some side dishes, and even ice cream! You do have to request to sit by it as it's not available for every table. I ordered the Green Chilaquiles and they were SO TASTY! I also ordered a cup of their Pozole which was very delightful as well! Will definitely come back!!

Google
This is a great local Mexican restaurant in Raleigh with a fun and unique vibe. Dips are brought out by a small train near the tables it serves. Food is tasty, and I like both the steak tacos and the steak fajitas. The beef was thick, not skimpy. Salsy is fresh, and the guacamole is even fresher and seasoned just right. Parking is a challenge as the lot cannot accommodate all cars and space is tight. An added attraction is the chicken coop outside.

Google
The booths are a teeny bit of a tight fit in some areas and parking is tricky but otherwise I love this place. Second time I've been, delicious food and friendly staff. My friend who lived in New York said she dreams about the steak tacos. I had the carnitas that are beer marinated and they were so tender and flavorful. Will be glad to come back again sometime. The live chicken coop is a super fun feature as well! It's a good idea to make a reservation here it was packed even at 5pm on a Friday.

Google
Flavors, combinations of the meals. Everything was a very pleasant experience. The atmosphere is an experience in itself. Never have I been there where I did not see something I had not seen before. Our Waitress was great, chirodip awesome, my Wife and I food was great.

Google
We’ve always enjoyed coming here. Last night, the kitchen got behind. Not a big deal at all, but our already wonderful waitress and the manager came over and went above and beyond to “make things right.” Terrific service, food as always was good. We will be back.

This place is a cool place. The service was amazing. The food was DELICIOUS! & I just loved everything about my experience there. I made reservations in advance to get a train table and it was worth it! 👌🏻 Will definitely visit again!

Google
As we adventure to Raleigh to a concert we stopped by this cute little cocina. My adventure partner and I had margaritas, taquitos, and carnitas. The food and atmosphere was great. I apologize for the lack of food photos, we were busy having a good time.

Google
Best mole' I've had in a long time. Salsa was pretty good, too. Sat at the bar, so atmosphere wasn't so great, but service was good.

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance and good food. I'm a latino from Southern California so I'm pretty hard to impress when it comes to Mexican food. Ordered a piña colada and s/o ordered a frozen marg. Piña colada was fantastic and marg was good as well. I ordered the carnitas and s/o ordered the empanadas with rice and bean side. Rice and beans were great. Carnitas were also pretty good, though I felt like the flour tortillas may not be homemade. Or they weren't heated up the best. The empanadas were pretty good and unique. Overall a pretty good place for Mexican, would bring back friends for the vibes alone. Servers were also friendly and service was quick

Yelp
Excellent food, presentation, and atmosphere! We had a pleasant evening dining on tacos, sipping margaritas, and watching the train deliver queso and guacamole. Everything tasted great and was presented well. The dinner and bar menu offers ample options and is reasonably priced. We left satisfied and recommend this restaurant to others! Side note: they have chickens!

Yelp
Took Mom out last night for some mahi tacos. Dos Taquitos is one of our favorite places. The decor is so unique and you can tell they just had FUN decorating everything! Our server was so pleasant and WARM and we complimented her on this - she just had a nice attitude about her that made us feel so welcome. Food here is soooo good! Everything is good but definitely don't leave without trying their plantains coupled alongside this awesome sauce they come with. Get the guacamole so you can have it delivered to the table by train! So much Love

Yelp
Ambiance was fun and colorful, the chicken coop outside was really cool, and the little dip/ice cream train was unlike anywhere else I've been to! The food was... not good, though. Usually a burrito is a safe bet, but it was hard to eat. And the "red sauce" is actually marinara. Which doesn't make sense for a Mexican restaurant? Service was average. Will not be returning.

Ashley D.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful. My kids enjoyed the train. The food was wonderful. The service was really good. I love the eclectic decorations.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING! The ambience was super cool with all the colors and decor and music! Our server was the most attentive and super nice. My boyfriend and I live 2 hours away and actually became aware of this restaurant on TikTok. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I went to this place since every 4th Saturday they teach Salsa dancing and then it becomes a salsa social. Before I attended the salsa social I had to try their chicken quesadillas which the chicken was nice and moist and delicious. The staff were attentive and very nice. My wife ordered the margarita soft serve which I had to steal a bite of and it was really good and never seen something like it. In addition, I get to see the chicken in their coop outside and I believe they sell fresh eggs. At the salsa social, the DJ played real good Spanish music and it was packed. I had to try the salsa moves I learned earlier from the instructor. I will definitely will go back.

Yelp
Great staff....great food, great margaritas.... what else could one want? Take advantage of the Monday 1/2 price apps and $2 off all the alread decent priced margaritas.. you can't find a better deal!

Yelp
Cool chicken coop outside. A colorful exterior. A very busy but very nice burst of colors and homey. The enclosed patio area is a little cool, so if you're going in colder weather, be sure to wear warm clothing. It will take a while for the seats to warm up. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I'm glad they have a separate menu to let you know what items will be delivered on the toy train, which is a nice touch and adds to the general decor. The Chorizo queso was delicious as was the slightly chunky salsa. Everyone at the table, enjoyed their entrées. I ordered the Cositas con Mole, which was adobo chicken wrapped in corn tortillas with once of the best moles I've ever had. I'll have to go back to try some other stuff.

Yelp
We had a really nice experience despite some hiccups in the mix as in some delay in our food delivery, but it was balanced out with nice gestures from staff/manager. Overall, a lovely experience. Very busy, the music was a bit loud, making it difficult to have conversations with others seated 2 seats down. We were a party of 28 Food was fresh and absolutely delicious! The chicken coop was precious too! I would definitely return!! The vibes were exactly what we wanted, and I over heard my uncle (an elder) say "this is nostalgic, I'm getting emotional as the decor/rustic vibes reminds me of Mexico growing up." He said feeling transported back home. Pic of what I ordered: the medium cooked steak was DIVINE to my tastebuds! So tender and flavorful w/habanero salsa and the side of pozole that comes with the meal (ask for it too, salad or soup)!

Yelp
Ambiance and food/drink presentation and taste were my (3) pros; however parking warning signs, limited parking space & seeing that darn train had me thinking twice about whether or not if this was the right type of spot to visit! You can catch this one from the highway on 70 east not far from Crabtree Mall! My date and I arrived and the restaurant one evening and we're greeted upon entry! I could tell that this was an authentic Mexican spot as I sparked a convo and the greeted couldn't understand; no worries, I popped out my Google translator and "Voilá," we were seating promptly with a few smiles of gratitude to accompany them! We ordered our food which was prepared and served very quickly! We received our nachos via train as you have the option to either be seated at a table with or without toy train-delivered items upon making your reservation! This was also half of the reasons for visiting the eatery; the other was that I saw it on one of my social media feeds! The food tasted excellent, however, I wish that the train had dividers/table #'s/ last names on the train carts when they are sent out to deliver your appetizers! The drinks were pretty strong and the artwork in the business showed me that this was a hidden gem off the "beaten path" of restaurants on Glenwood worth a visit more often! Overall, I'd rate this experience a 4 out of 5!

Yelp
I will not be going back! The staff and ambiance were subpar to say the least. There was a three month old at the bar with a carrier taking up one of the bar stools. We had to wait an hour, which was fine, but others who also had no reservations were sat before us. Then when we were done eating we were rushed out because "there was a reservation in ten minutes," yet there were two empty tables the same size next to us that had been empty a half hour. We waited longer to get a table than we were allowed to sit at a table. The decorations were traditional, but the treatment of others was not. The menu was slim compared to other Mexican restaurants. The food was okay - the beans and rice were the best part. It was pretty loud. The staff was rearranging tables and chairs around at least half the time we were there, and it sounded like metal on a chalkboard. In sum - go to Jose and Sons (less than a half mile away).

Yelp
I loved the vibe of this place! Every inch of the walls were covered with some fun piece of art. Definitely get reservations, especially if you want a train table! Honestly everything we ordered was great! The chorizo queso was creamy and had a little kick to it. We also got the taquito appetizer. They had a nice crunch and really good flavor! My husband and I both ordered the Las Carnitas. Beautiful presentation and really yummy food. The pork was tender and well seasoned. The drinks were good and strong! Highly recommend the peach margarita. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This place was pretty busy when we came for dinner but we managed to find a seat at the bar. First thing I noticed are all of the interesting decorations throughout the restaurant. They definitely give it a unique appeal that my girlfriend absolutely loved. The bartenders were extremely nice and attentive throughout our meal. The food was great too! The menu was full of your traditional Mexican staples, but almost everything had a refreshing twist to it. I got the Las Carnitas (basically a DIY taco platter) and it was so good. The avocado sauce was probably the highlight of the meal.

Yelp
The food was fantastic and the decor was even better. Service was on point and portions were huge. We made reservations for a train table thinking the train went around the restaurant, however it does not - only in a short back and forth motion. It was definitely loud in there so not the best spot to catch up with friends. There are also live chickens with vests outside! Parking lot is small and easier to park at the shopping center.

Yelp
Went here for my nephews 10th birthday. Made reservations online the day before. Reservation app was super easy to use. You do have to put a debit/credit card down to make one. (It's a 10$ fee they'll charge if you miss your reservation.) if you want to sit at one of the Train Tables . I recommend making an appointment ahead of time. They opened promptly at 4pm on Saturday. Lots of metal art , colorful paint and even a chicken coop on site to enjoy while you wait. They already had a huge line of people waiting for a table at 330. So it's busy busy busy. Understandable since every food blogger / foodie on instagram comes here for the food and atmosphere. lol Huge bar area. Lots of drinks and margarita options to choose from. Hostess and waitstaff were super friendly. Lemme start by saying since it was my nephews birthday I completely spaced on taking pictures of the actual food lol . Cheese Dips, Bean Dips and ChoriQueso dips were all super tasty. Since we reserved a train table, the dips came via Train! My nephew loves it. Super fun for us adults too. We also got the appetizers plates of tostones, maduros, chicharrones (fresh made pork rinds, they came out warm!) and yuca fries (came with a chipotle ranch). All delicious. For mains two of our party got the steak tacos which they seemed to enjoy. One person got the steak fajitas. She loved em. Shared most of her steak with my nephew My nephew got the quesadilla with beef. ( beef on the side. He got full on steak and didn't care for the beef. Beef was a little spicy and runny from the sauce it's cooked in for his liking) Another got the carnitas plate . Really good and flavorful carnitas. I got the Carne Asada plate. The 9oz of Carne asada was tender, juicy and was packed full of flavor. They marinate it for 48 hours I believe. It was the most expensive plate at 33$. ( definitely priced because of the flavor and preparation(worth it), cost of beef on the rise. Still Hurts a bit for what little meat you get.) next time I'd probably just get the carnitas or fajitas. Best thing on the menu to me was the cup of Pozzoli I got with my dinner plate. So flavorful. Meat super tender. Just outstanding. If you want a fun, colorful, delicious time with some tasty Mexican food. Give em a try! Reserve a Train table if you have kids. It's a blast. Since it was my nephews birthday they all sang to him and gave him a huge ice cream sundae for free! He loved it. Very nice touch. After he got his. 3 other tables got their birthday person ice cream too! Lots of singing by staff in a 20 min span. So cool

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service was great! It's a really fun and eclectic place. It is a bit loud, but that fits the vibes. The train was a little bit over rated as it just goes a short straight line, but it's still a fun cool idea. I had the chicken fajitas and they were great and a huge portion

Yelp
Best Mexican in RDU. From the decor, food, drinks, and overall vibe this is definitely a destination favorite. Everyone is super friendly, helpful and well versed in the menu. From my experience, the consistency and service and food is 9/10. They are extremely helpful with correcting any issues related to food quality. I recommend making a reservation. On any given day, you could wait at least 45 minutes to an hour without a reservation. Grab some friends and make a night of it. Drinks are very popular and they offer a cute train that Delivers certain app. When making a reservation, you can request a table near the tracks! Great overall experience! This is my 5 visit since the summer.

Yelp
It went viral on TikTok so expect a wait, which there may have always been a longer wait, not sure. This was our first time trying. We arrived at 7 and waited about 30 minutes. Hostess quoted us about 40-45 minutes. Inside: Very colorful lighting. If you have trouble seeing or are color blind, I'd suggest letting the host know. Some tables have regular (white) bulbs, others have colored bulbs which makes it a little hard to see the menu and your food. I just used the light on my phone. Salsa is amazing. One of the best I've had in the area. Nice chucks of onion and cilantro, can taste the lime. Drinks: Havana Night and Labios Compartidos. Havana night was VERY minty. Labios Conlartidos was really good, had a slight smokey flavor, could taste pineapple and jalapeño. Food: appetizer - firecracker and for our entrees we ordered Fa-Grillitas and Esa Chimichanga. Firefracker is indeed a firecracker. Do not suggest for anyone who doesn't like spice but we loved them. It's an authentic jalapeño popper in my opinion that hasn't been Americanized too much. Fa-grillitas has lots of food, plenty to eat! I ordered my chimichanga with Queso instead of salsa with a side of cilantro. Amazing. Jay H. Was our sever and I'd give him 5 as well.

Yelp
First time and we will be back. We visit Raleigh from New York often and just found this gem.

Yelp
We went here for a friends birthday. We made reservations and on the reservation we had put our friend was allergic to parsley and cilantro. We have been to multiple Mexican food places and never had any problems. When the food arrived her food at cilantro all over. We asked if it could be remade and don't garnish cilantro on top. The manager came back and said that they can not do that for us. She was extremely rude about it. Seems we are not the only one to put a bad review about her... I talked to our waiter about seeing if she can get a drink on the house since she can't eat anything. He said he needs to talk to the manager. He came back and said she said no. But he offered to pay for her drink he was very nice about everything. The food was good. A little expensive. But that manager needs to leave. We won't come back.

Yelp
The vibe is so eccentric and fun! I ordered the carne asada and we had the queso dip for the table which were both amazing. They have such a variety of drinks and seasonal favorites. If you like tropical flavors like mango, tamarind, guava etc. This is the place for you!
google avatar

Hayley P.

Yelp
Cute and funky little spot off Glenwood. I'm a sucker for a cheese dip and shrimp tacos, and Dos has both, and both are delicious. Very lively at dinner and on the weekends. A fun spot to go with friends. Small parking lot but a large parking lot just across the street.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
We had a great time at Dos Taquitos. The environment was cute and fun. The food was delicious! My husband said his Los Meros de Puerco were the best tacos he's ever had. Our server, Juliet, was sweet and lovely. She made recommendations for us on drinks which were excellent! We definitely recommend and will be back.

Yelp
I went for the choo choo queso and left blown away by the food and service. The restaurant is super quirky. Plenty of things to look at. The choo choo train was a fun touch. But the food was the star of the show. Started with the queso which was great. My favorite were the firecrackers. Stuffed jalapeños done the right way with seeds left in! Ordered the chicken fajitas. Delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. We also had black bean and chicken enchiladas with verde sauce. Spectacular. The service was exceptional. If I lived in Raleigh this would be my go to spot.

Yelp
From the decor to the menu options to the train that delivers your guacamole and queso, Dos Taquitos is a breath of fresh air in the realm of Mexican food experiences. Making a reservation was definitely the way to go because Dos Taquitos was popping on a Friday night! Even the chickens were partying. If you want to enjoy the queso/guac train, make sure you get the associated reservation that mentions the train. Shoutout to @NCeatandplay for putting this place on our radar via Instagram and inspiring us to venture out to Raleigh from Greensboro on a Friday night. To begin we decided to split a pitcher of the Cielito Lindo margarita. This drink was super fresh with crisp, citrusy goodness. You could tell how fresh it was because the bottom of the pitcher was full of pulp. I also loved the texture of the glassware it was served in and that our waitress was kind enough to rim my glass with salt again when we got our second pitcher. Small details like this let you know this place believes in high quality and service.  Obviously we ordered the choriqueso and guac, so we could experience the train bringing it to our table and subsequent unbridled joy. Both dips and the salsa were delicious which was evident when we crushed 3 baskets of chips. What actually is spoiling your appetite though? We also split an order of taquitos. The quote of the evening was, "I enjoy the pop of flesh" when referring to the chicken taquitos. Crunchy and savory but could certainly use some sauce to give them some moisture since they're a little dry on their own. For my entree I ordered the green salsa grilled chicken Chilaquiles which was served with a soup or a salad. I opted for the soup route and ordered the esquite sopa. This is basically like a more decadent elote dip. Corny, creamy goodness topped with mayo, what's not to like?? I've gotta say the cheesy-chipotle broccoli served with the chilaquiles was the best part of the dish. The dish didn't quite live up to my expectations of crunchiness (as advertised in the description) which is understandable when it's hard to keep a chip crunchy when it's covered in salsa. It was still delicious, I just might try it with grilled vegetables or fried egg as opposed to the grilled chicken next time.  I hope to visit this place when I'm in the area again soon but it's definitely worth a special trip just for the vibes.

Yelp
We headed to Durham from Greensboro specifically to check this place out after seeing them on some social media. Wow, just wow. Thankfully we made a reservation as the place was packed. As I walked in, I overheard the hostess tell an arriving customer it was a 90 minute wait. I was in a group of 4 and we started with a pitcher of margaritas, which were perfect. We got a table near the train, so we obviously had to order items to be delivered on it, we got some chori-queso and some guac. And as expected it was delivered on the train, which was pretty cool. The guac was fresh and delicious and the chori-queso was excellent, as was their chips and salsa. As an app we got the taquitos, which apparently isn't the namesake of the restaurant, and there were 6 of them, they were perfect. Nice crispy outside with a delicious inside. I ordered the cositas con mole, as I'm a fan of mole sauce. This was one of the best if ever had. The cositas were kinda like enchiladas, but folded differently. This dish was perfect and came with some hard boiled eggs, seemed weird but actually matched pretty well. My wife got the steak taco, the steak had amazing flavor. One of our friends got the Arroz con polito which I didn't try but looked beautiful. And our other friend got the chilaquilles, which I did ty and was also tasty. All in all a great meal and a place I want to visit regularly, it's worth the drive.

Yelp
Went for a date night, arrived on a Tuesday and the restaurant was absolutely slammed. Highly highly recommend making a reservation, or else you'll potentially be stuck waiting for a long time. With that said, we eventually got a spot at the bar after about 30 minutes. Once we were seated it was actually a relatively quick turnaround for ordering food and it coming to us. These may have been the best steak tacos I've ever had, as the steak was soooooo tender. Also had a classic margarita and it was solid. Priced appropriately.

Yelp
Came here for the first time last night and already cannot wait to return! Our waitress was an absolute doll. She even noticed when I was hurriedly trying to pull up my camera to record the train bringing our queso, so she backed the train back up to the front and waited until I was ready so that I could get a good clip. The queso and salsa were delicious. I got the enchiladas (modified so they all had the bean filling) and my wife had the Mexican tacos. All looked great and tasted even better. We also got the buñuelos for dessert which were super yummy. All of the decor was so fun and interesting to look at. We only saw a portion of the restaurant so I'm eager to go back and see the rest! We had a reservation that we'd made the day before, so we only had to wait ~15 mins or so. This was a good call because the wait time for walk-ins was 1.5 hours. I'd recommend reserving ahead of time!

Yelp
I feel like this Mexican place is the best in the area! It's way better than some of the other ones like Torero's. They have a better bar and the selection of food is more varied. The prices are a little higher but I don't mind paying more for better quality. Highly recommend this place if you are in this part of Raleigh and want a very good Mexican meal!
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
If you want a TRAIN table make a reservation!!! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was interestingly odd, and the staff were excellent. We were traveling through but would stop again w a reservation for a train table.

Yelp
First time trying even though we live very close! Really cute vibe, tons of different things to look at! Food was delicious and presentation was cool! Tortilla cups for rice and beans (so don't load up on chips before your meal). Our waitress was amazing and very engaging and fun!
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
Right when you park you can see the big cage with chickens in it which is unique. Once you go inside there's a small fridge where you can actually take a brown bag with 1-2 fresh laid eggs which is a fun touch! In regard to ambience it's a cozy spot with quirky decorations (small train runs through the restaurant). We got the fajitas which were really good! For drinks I tried the margarita with the popsicle inside that helped sweeten it a little which I liked.
google avatar

Yelp
So we came here solely because of an Instagram advertisement. We were so looking forward to dining here. However we left truly disappointed. The food was decent, but not worth the cost. It's your basic Mexican restaurant, but way more pricey. Also it was hard to enjoy dinner with it being so loud. So much for a romantic dinner. Don't go here for Date Night. You will leave frustrated. They didn't even have the train running, that was the main reason for going. Again, should have follow my Yelp senses and paid attention to the reviews. There's a reason why it's 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Food was delish, service was AMAZING thanks to our waitress, Berenice. Highly recommend the queso, guac, and fajitas!

Yelp
Dos offers a lively ambiance for Mexican cuisine here in Raleigh. Equipped with indoor, outdoor patio seating and a full bar, it's a popular destination on Glenwood Avenue. Known for its eclectic out-of-the box decor and a chicken coop in the parking lot, it's the appropriate restaurant to entertain guests from out of town or small children. We arrived at opening for a early dinner for 4. We did not have a reservation but we're grateful to be seated in the center of the restaurant to enjoy the toy train delivering our Queso and dessert. I decided on apps and a cocktail. My daughter and I shared empanadas. They were excellent. Very moist and flavorful. She also enjoyed the Mexicanos taco platter. Both preteens cleaned their plates. They really enjoyed their food. I ordered the choriqueso which is not your typical recipe. It comes with potato hash in it as well. I did not enjoy this aspect. I also felt the Queso could have been served hotter. I paired it with the pineapple jalapeño infused mezcal Labios Compartidos. The drinks are made strong here. You'll get your money worth here ! I must say. My friend could not handle her liquor. For dessert we shared churros and tried a mini fried ice cream. It was not fried. It was ice cream with corn flakes on top. Disappointed there. Overall our server was attentive and excellent. I would not recommend this restaurant for a date or catching up. There were a lot of young children and large families dining. If you must, sit at the bar. Come early and leave happy. I would return for apps and cocktails. Prices were $12-17 an entree.

Yelp
Went here for dinner and it didn't disappoint. The ambience is fun and the train they have to deliver your appetizer is so much fun. The food was delicious. The service was amazing as well. I recommend checking it out. Reserve a train table to have the train deliver your appetizer.

Yelp
Authentic, delicious, and amazing decor is Dos Taquitos! Upon walking in, you are immediately transported to a colorful oasis complete with a train that brings you your check, guacamole, and joy of course! I decided to try their chicken tacos with beans. Omg! The quality of the meat and other ingredients is phenomenal! The ingredients are fresh and so delicious! Every bite is amazing and full of flavor. The chicken has a great chargrilled taste with a hint of sweetness that keeps you wanting to eat more and more. I am so glad that the waitress recommended this along with adding the avocado slices. Minus one star for the high prices and small portion sizes. I would love to come back here more as the food is like I said phenomenal, but the prices hurt my heart!

Yelp

Yelp
Did you say TACO TUESDAY?! Dos Taquitos did not disappoint!! The staff was so kind and attentive, from the hosts at the door to the bartenders, everyone was great! Order the $12.00 3 taco Tuesday special, a side of their famous queso, and a frozen margarita stat! The food was fresh, came out in about 20 minutes, and the marg was so refreshing! Free chips, salsa and parking! :) Thanks Dos Taquitos!

Yelp
Was super packed, make reservations before you go or else you have to wait 1 hour for seating. Food is alright.

Yelp
I think this place is a bit overhyped. Overall, the food was ok but nothing spectacular. I also feed the prices are a bit high for what you receive. We made a reservation for 8:30pm and got seated around 8:45pm. Our waitress came to take our drink orders and I got a beer that contained a Tajín stick, chamoy, and maybe something else? The beer was slightly warm but that's ok I guess. We started with taquitos as an app and they were pretty dried out and flavorless. The chicken inside was so dry I had to dip them in my salsa. For dinner we got the carne asada and chilaquiles. I have never had chilaquiles before so I can't speak to the authenticity of the dish but it was fine. The grilled chicken that came with it seemed very dry and the fried egg I added was very well done. I wasn't asked how I wanted the egg so maybe that's how it's typically served (very well done). My partner got the carne asada and we thought it was pretty good but not worth $33. In addition, my husbands food came out about 15 min after my entree did so we ate separately. Overall, we may return with friends for the ambiance as it does seem like a fun place but the food and service is just ok.

Yelp
Been coming here for more than a decade, even back when it was at its old location off Creedmoor. Best Mexican / Tex Mex in Raleigh, hands down. Everything on the menu is great and there's something for everyone. Steak tacos never go wrong, fajitas are always amazing. Mole sauce is as authentic as you can get anywhere in the world and delicious. Servers here are ALWAYS friendly and I've never had an issue. Been probably 150+ times to this restaurant and never had a problem with a server. Ambiance is so cool, with decor literally hanging from the ceilings, walls, between tables, etc. and indirect lighting everywhere. Place has a cool vibe, and there's even a little train that brings salsa, guacamole, queso, and other side orders to the table and drops it off for you (if you make a reservation and want this experience, book a "train table") All in all if I could give Dos Taquitos a 6/5 I would. Sara, the manager/bartender has been friendly and amazing to me for years, and the owner can frequently be spotted talking to customers/working, which is refreshing. He sat down with my mom once and shared his favorite tequila with us, free of charge. Let us take home the rest of the bottle. Man is a legend! I don't have lots of pictures on hand, but go there yourself and experience it! It's incredible!

Yelp
Waited over an hour no table came available numerous people came in after me and was seated before me with no reservations. I am African American and have unfortunately seen multiple reviews about people of color being treated poorly. In addition to waiting and never being seated I overheard the hostess tell multiple non color people there wait would be 10 minutes and right after them an African American couple was told it would be 1 hour. I will not recommend this place to anybody and the whole time the hostess was laughing while we notified the "So Called Manager"

Yelp
After seeing an Instagram influencer consistently advertise this place, we decided to give it a try. Overall, this place is just okay. Pros: Decor is pretty wild and there's a lot to look at. It kept our son entertained. Staff was nice. They have chickens outside and the kids enjoyed watching them. There's a train that brings guacamole and cheese dip, that was cute. Most of the food was reasonably priced. Cons: We made a reservation and you need a credit card to do so. If you dont show up or cancel within 4 hours, you get charged $60!!! My brother and his wife went to a nice dinner overlooking Central Park in NYC and they only charge $25. $60 is insane! Got a margarita and it was fine. For a Mexican restaurant, it should have been great. We were a party of 6 and everyone's food was just eh. Only good thing was the yuca fries. Also, things definitely needed cleaning. Our table, the floor, and the menus were dirty, and we got there as soon as it opened. Some dishes were way overpriced. Parking lot is small. Overall, I'm surprised by how popular this place is. We won't be back.

Yelp
We came here for my birthday! Such a cool little spot. You should definitely make a reservation though because we had reservations at 430 pm, got there at 405 pm, and there was already a 2 hr wait. We luckily had reservations for the train table. The food is really really good. When you go to a typical Mexican spot it's all the same kind of food. Little strips of chicken, etc... this was real grilled chicken breasts, cut up, and served and it was so delicious. The margaritas were really good too. The toy train delivered our queso dip and then our check at the end and was just a really fun touch. They are also known for the love chickens they have outside as pets! They lay eggs and you can get a free egg from the little fridge when you leave!

Yelp
Love this place. From the moment you walk in you just know it is different and special. Eclectic decorations are everywhere and if you are lucky enough to get a train seat then, as the name suggests, some of your appetizers and check are delivered by the toy train. We've been here twice and have had the carnitas (very flavorful meat), the enchiladas de Puebla with three different enchiladas, one with chipotle sauce, one with Mexican cream, and one with tomatillo sauce and all delicious and the tasty shrimp tacos. But the star of the show has been the cochinita pibil. Truly amazing flavors and the presentation is brilliant. Served with what they call a savory spoon which is hardened honey with a dollop of habanero sauce to taste between bites. I'm totally stealing this idea. They even think of small presentation items like tying the tortillas with a plantain leaf strip in a bow. Do the small things right and you know they will take care of the big things.

Yelp
This is literally the best place that ever happpened in Mexican food life!!!! The ambiance is so much fun and there's always something new to look at. The food..... oh the food is rediculous good. There was a long wait so make a reservation, but so well worth the wait. The queso train is so exciting and holey moley the queso, guacamole and bean dip are to die for. The drinks...don't get me started on the drinks. I didn't get her name but our bartender was just overly phenomenal. ( apparently it's Sarah. My friend asked ) She made the most delicious drinks EVER!! I can't say anything better about this place. I am from California and I would literally come back here just to solely come to this place. 5 million stars. Thank you so much for your amazing service and AMAZING food. I will be a forever customer and will tell everyone if they're ever in NC they HAVE to come here.

Yelp
@dostaquitos_official was a fun stop for Hub's birthday in Raleigh. I preface this review by saying my crew, especially the chicos, are Mexican food snobs. This was a truly entertaining restaurant with lots of visual stimulation, a coup of friendly pet chickens out front, AND several Choo Choo trains that bring you queso, guacamole, and more. It's a great stop if you have kids under 11. Alert: you can also request free eggs from the pet chickens!! A real crowd pleaser these days with the price of eggs. The salsa was good but the kids said the guacamole was not the best. It didn't taste like they used fresh avocados and maybe stored prepackaged mash instead. I really loved the flavors and meat prep on my Birria tacos special but the table kept insisting these were not 'real' Birria, lacking the griddled cheesy tacos that usually come as Birria. We got fajitas and carnitas also. The crew said it was okay. Not the best and not the worst. I gotta say this drink was absolutely delicious La Golosa had the citrus sweet and sour just right with the Mexican candy stick in a clay mug. I just loved it!! Highlight of my night. I loved my entire meal. I absolutely adore this decor. It was reminding us all of @tiostacos in Riverside, California. That's a fun place if you are ever out west. I think that if the kids were ten years younger, this would be a regular spot for us. Make sure to reserve a spot ahead and request a spot by the train if you want train service. There's a bar and a nice big patio area as well.
