"A former Peet’s Coffee in Dupont just transformed into a vibrant taqueria by way of NYC. The bathroom wallpaper choice honors the Bay Area, where its brother-owner duo Leo and Oliver Kremer grew up. Illustrated by Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone, the design depicts West Coast icons like E-40, Too Short, and Angela Davis, its BART transit system, and landmarks like the Bay Bridge and Oakland cranes in Victorian-style vignettes. An additional D.C. location in Chinatown sports a similar look." - Abi Newhouse, Nicole Schaller, Eater Staff

I have not been one to try mexican food, but due to influence from tiktok I decided to give them a try, especially with the backlash of Chipotle recently. I can confirm that they do not hesitate when making your order, and I cannot believe how delicious the food is here. Everything is flavorful and fresh, and for a good price. They have a new regular.

Google
A cozy little mexican place. The best way to think about it is a better version of chipotle. The burritos are the size that Chiptole used to be (massive!), with a few alternative toppings (broken chips). The staff members were very polite and pleasant, the food was excellent as well. Especially for the price range! A burrito as of 2024, March, cost 10 dollars. Even with tax and tip that still puts the price well below the average DC lunch cost of 15+. If I would change anything, I would like the tortillas to be cooked a little more. I usually like mine a bit toasted. But this is an excellent shop, regardless of my preferences. I would range this at 4 stars, personally, but I don't think that good shops deserve to have their star rating lowered with a positive review. And I am usually picky with my five stars.

Google
Ordered food via the app. Apparently, when you order two meats, they charge you for two but only give you one. So i strongly recommend checking your order before you leave. Also, there is no way to complain about the order besides calling them so... sigh.

Google
Place was amazing and the food was spectacular. Came for a late lunch with friends and the staff was so fun and engaging they really pay attention to detail and quality and the food was so good. It was fresh and so much better than chipotle. Very fairly priced and the atmosphere was so delightful and fun, definitely coming back and highly recommend.

I spent a long time in San Francisco Mission District happily eating mission style burritos for a good number of years. So I’m a tough customer, not like some of the other reviewers here who give this place five stars because they say it’s better than Chipotle . I’m sorry people, but you cannot say the food is good because it’s better than chipotle. Chipotle sucks. I would have to say that the burritos at this place are maybe 6 or 7 out of 10. Not horrible, not really really bad, but certainly not great. First, they don’t steam the tortilla. If you’re not gonna steam the tortilla, you have to put it on the grill after you make the burrito. Otherwise, it’s cold and gummy at the foldy parts. Secondly, they don’t have sour cream and that’s kind of a standard add on for a proper burrito. Third the pico de gallo is too dry and it needs more onion and lime and salt. But the chips are good. Anyway, it’s a nice place. If you don’t feel like a proper sit down restaurant, and you want something kind of fast and you want Mexican, and you are in the neighborhood, yeah, go for it.

Google
Portions seem a little small but I absolutely love this place. WAY better alternative to chipotle. Love to eat for lunch. Everything I’ve had was good. The selection of meats and sauces are unmatched.

Google

Yelp
9/7/24 7pm Party of 1 While my fiancé was at work, I stopped by this little restaurant for dinner. It was pretty empty so there was plenty of seating available. Ordered: Chorizo bowl: 10/10, added pinto beans, corn, pickled onions and guac. It's like a Chipotle bowl.... only way better. They have rice and other veggies that you can also add. I chose the habanero salsa and it was the perfect amount of spice. The restaurant was clean, the staff was polite and they played good music.

Yelp
at this point I'm one lawsuit rumor more from being over chipotle in its entirety so Dos Toros entered my life at the right time - seeing this is a mexican joint from CA brought me immediate hope for my tastebuds endeavors - fun fact with the app you get $3 off your first purchase so my double (we talking X TWO) chicken salad was $9 - this bowl was PACKED. the salad mix was not just watery crunchy romaine core but various leafy greens axtually filling the full base - you can add up 5x each topping so I was happily eating each bite with enough salsa and pickles onions. the roasted salsa was too weak and burnt water tasting for me but the green salsa packed good flavor - the chicken was clearly just cooked and still supple. you could taste the garlic pepper and spices that shown through enough to show this place isn't mass grossly producing - I'm a huge fan. I will be back. good abundant outdoor seating for a fast casual place.

Yelp
@dostoros is now in DC! I ordered the spiced brussels sprouts bowl, loaded it with mexican rice, pinto beans, spiced brussels sprouts, corn salsa, crumbled queso fresco, pickled red onions and creamy chipotle dressing for less than $10 this stacked bowl did not disappoint!

Yelp
We popped in for a quick lunch today and were definitely impressed. Clean space, efficient and polite service, and delicious food. I got a bowl, hunny got a burrito. Love that they have options for every dietary preference. I know other places like chipotle and qdoba are similar but I really enjoyed the quality of the ingredients here -- especially the sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts. Salsas are all also delicious and well worth trying. In terms of flavor and quality of the food hubby and I both agreed we prefer this place over chipotle if given the choice. Absolutely recommend if you are in the area.

Yelp
New spot in and town, so I was walking home and decided to check it out. Very yummy food, very nice people that helped me out, and I thought it was reasonably priced. I've been back since and will go back again.

Yelp
Service is fast and friendly. But the food itself was surprisingly bland on my first visit. I made my own carnitas quesadilla with salsa verde -- and it seemed like each component was a tasteless, watered-down version of itself. I was super hungry and hadn't eaten all day though, so I still scarfed it down. Even though my order was both hot and filling (due to the generous portion size), it wasn't at all satisfying. Not sure I would ever try this place again.

Yelp
I had high hopes that Dos Toros would be an elevated experience compared to Chipotle but was really disappointed. The steak bowl with Mexican rice is at Taco Bell level quality food. The queso was also terrible. I'm not sure how this business could call its self a taqueria. Absolutely tastes awful. Do your self a favor and just order from Surfside or the new Taco Bomba in upper NW.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant since it open literally I was there at the grand opening but since then I seen a change the customer service is still excellent also it's always clean when I come inside. But I'm not sure if there trying to live up to chipotles expectations but the portions are getting smaller and smaller I think either the price should be decreased or we should be getting the same amount of food the the same price.

Jehieli L.

Yelp
Was very excited to try this place and ordered delivery, but they forgot the meat of my taco and my side of guac. ): Otherwise food was okay, nothing special.

Yelp
Ordered two seared carne asade tacos and they were amazing!!! You can even have crushed tortilla chips on your item! I'm from California so I am very picky with my tacos and this place passed the test!! Highly recommend not only for the food, but for the amazing staff!! They were so helpful to other patrons and very accommodating to everyone!(: Had to dig in before taking a photo!

Yelp
If you're from the Bay Area and you miss burritos, this is the only thing in the DMV that'll hit that craving! Service was quick and nice, and the restaurant looks clean. Only thing it's missing for me is chile verde as an option

Artie B.

Yelp
I mean - tried it a 2nd time. They have cool ads in the metro BOTUS or New Kid on the Guac - cute. However the food is meh!! I ordered two tacos on the first day they opened- carne asada is good- guac and queso were good. However today I got the burrito. I'm not a burrito place but here goes. Rice is BLAH! No flavor just filler - Pinto beans seemed fresh so okay - tortilla is rubbery and wet weird!! Don't know why I added Brussels sprouts but they may be better as a side but I could smell them. That's on me. Guacamole today seems old. I understand that quac turns brown etc but it just seemed like they kept mixing it. But.. the Sauces are on point. Carne Asada and Sauces (Smokey) is the best. Love the habanero and the chipotle. Also the Queso is great. 3 out of 5

Yelp
I have mixed reviews about the food at Dos toros, but, overall was very pleased, Carnitas Tacos were pretty delicious and prices are very reasonables, 2 Tacos + corona = $16 :) Service was very fast and the store is spotless with planty of sitting.

Yelp
The food was so yummy and much better priced then chipotle. My new favorite spot for a quick bite!

Maggie O.

Yelp
I've been hooked on these burritos since I uncovered them a couple months ago. Seriously some of the best burritos in the area. I love the extra spicy salsa and all the ingredients are super fresh.

Craig P.

Yelp
I've been waiting and watching this place opening. Today did not disappoint. Burrito bowl was the perfect size. I ordered ahead online and was greeted by a wonderful staff member when I arrived. The dinning room looked clean. Lots of seating. Good vibe. Would def go back!

Andrea R.

Yelp
Quesadilla was good and like that they give you a good amount of food! Also loved the chips. We received great customer service as well.

Desirae B.

Yelp
I find the food quality and service 10x better than chipotle. It is cleaner and I don't feel sluggish after eating their food. One thing I wish they had was a tofu option, but the new one in DuPont circle is really my go to lunch spot.

Angie B.

Yelp
What a great addition to the area! I'm obsessed with the Brussels sprouts. I've had a salad and a burrito bowl here and really enjoyed them both. The portions are healthy and the prices are reasonable. Recommend!

Matthew B.

Yelp
I've been anxious for the opening as I walk by every day. Stopped in today for a breakfast burrito. It was okay. Pre-made and a bit small though not expensive. Customer service was mixed. I was there 20 minutes after opening cash register was being counted. Will try again sometime, but not going back for breakfast.

Zach M.

Yelp
Tony's the guy. The burritos are moneyyyyy. Highly recommend for anyone needing a solid meal.

Yelp
First time at Dos Toros Taqueria. Place looked clean, calm and service was prompt, professional. However, the food I ordered was not pleasant. The taco shells were disgusting but the filling was ok. Could be better tho, more seasoning. I'll stick with chipotle.
