Dosa Factory Review - Cambridge - Boston - The Infatuation

"As a general rule of thumb, if you see a counter and a handful of booths in the back of an Indian grocery store, you should probably order something from there and eat it - it’s going to be good. For proof, head to the Dosa Factory and get a savory pancake so big it could almost be used as a kettlebell. They have fun varieties like Peking duck and corn and jalapeno in addition to the standard vindaloo and tikka masala. And if you’re not in the mood for a dosa at all, you can explore the large menu that covers just about anything you’re likely to find at an Indian restaurant. Don’t leave without getting one of the pastries (we liked the pistachio roll best)." - Dan Secatore

Visited Dosa Factory recently and was quite disappointed with the cleanliness. While heading to the washroom, we got a glimpse of the kitchen area—and it did not look clean at all. Definitely not something you want to see in a food place. The Malabar porota they served seemed to be frozen and lacked flavor—not what we expected. On the positive side, the service was good and the staff were friendly, but overall the food and hygiene standards need a lot of improvement.

If you're craving authentic and mouthwatering South Indian cuisine in Vancouver, look no further than Dosa Factory! My friends and I had an incredible experience, thanks to Chef George, who went above and beyond to make our visit special. Knowing that we had traveled from different cities, he kindly prepared a few off-menu dishes just for us — such a thoughtful gesture that made our evening even more memorable. The house special chicken wings were absolutely out of this world! Chef George proudly mentioned that all the sauces are made in-house using traditional spices, and you can really taste the difference. Another highlight was the barbeque fish — it was unbelievably delicious, easily the best I've ever had. We also tried the tawa-fried prawns sautéed with Alfredo garlic pasta sauce — a creative twist that was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. For the main course, we shared the chicken, goat, and chicken 65 biryanis, and each one was simply outstanding. Without a doubt, this was the best biryani we’ve had in town. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic, unforgettable South Indian dining experience. And definitely ask for Chef George — his hospitality and culinary skills truly set this place apart!

So, what do you do if you are craving for scrumptious chow anytime after midnight till the start of the witching hour at 3 AM when in or around Vancouver ? Forage in your fridge or pantry? BZZZZTT! Wrong! The right answer is to set out for a late night traffic-free drive and head straight to the aptly named Dosa Factory. Or, for the not-so-outgoing kind, order delivery via Uber Eats. Been there, done that! 🍽️ Foodie Factor: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Each and every dish that we have had the pleasure of trying here has been delish, from the perfect Medhu Vada (the right level of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside), the oh-so-tasty Onion Rava Masala Dosa with Paruppu Podi (sprinkled generously with gun powder), the Gobhi Manchurian (so so good that it got me nostalgic!), the yummy goat biryani, the different flavorful curries, the spot-on green Coconut Chutney and Sambhar, to the refreshing Indian coffee. Top off the sumptuous meal with mukhwas or sugar-coated saunf (fennel seeds) when you visit the counter to pay the bill, and the entire end-to-end Desi meal experience is complete! 🤝 Service with a Smile: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What best complements the delicious food on offer here is the fantastic, friendly and prompt service, even at 1 AM! Hats off and kudos to Bhakti and co. for serving us hungry souls post-midnight, not just with yummy chow but also with their genuine smiles :) ✨ Ambiance & Vibe Check: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Given the mostly Desi crowd at all hours from day to night, the babble of conversations, the quality cuisine being served, plus the ambiance and decor with larger-than-life frames containing snippets of India's culture and its monuments, it's perfectly reasonable to feel as is you've been transported to the country itself for the entirety of your visit! Talk about a holistic and immersive meal experience which is great for dates, group meetups, and even solo treats! 🚗 Parking Pain or Perk: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Parking along Kingsway during rush hours is no cakewalk, and the limited street parking makes it a tad bit challenging. Cue, one or more times of circling the block! If you do get lucky, rest assured that parallel parking to fit into a tight spot by the busy road will whet your appetite (though you might lose it in a jiffy if you make a dent on the street before getting to make one on the plate!) 💸 Bang for Your Bite (Value/ROI): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Given the good portion sizes along with the quality of food and service, plus unlimited bottled water, you get a fair deal for the price you pay without feeling like you're splurging. Be mindful though that the EBTT syndrome (read, Eyes Bigger Than Tummy) will ensure that you end up ordering way more than you had planned to, so it's more likely than not that you will get an inflated bill with leftovers to take home. 🧼 Clean-o-meter: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The place is pretty neat, thanks to the attentive cleaning staff who are constantly on their toes, attending to plates and tables that warrant their attention. The restrooms were A-OK. All in all, my mother would approve, I think! 🧾 Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Needless to say, I'll be back here soon, risking the EBTT and ensuing food coma, just to enjoy the food-induced high! Highly recommend! *BURP*

Absolutely loved this place! It had a full Indian vibe — from the decor to the atmosphere, everything felt authentic and welcoming. We tried the Special Tadka Paneer 65, Onion Rava Masala Poddipu Dosa, and Ghee Roast Dosa. The Onion Rava Masala Poddipu was the standout — super crispy and packed with flavor. The chutneys served alongside were fresh and delicious, especially the coconut one. Great food, great ambiance — definitely coming back!

A Must-Try Spot for South Indian & Sri Lankan Food Lovers! I’ve visited Dosa Factory (also known as House of Dosa or Kingsway Original Dosa) more than five times now, and each visit has been a treat! It’s one of the most popular spots around Vancouver, especially among non-South Asians who are eager to explore authentic Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine. This place truly feels like a paradise for authentic SL and Indian food lovers, offering a wide variety of dishes, from dosas and biriyanis to kothu roti and the everfamous egg and plain hoppers. My personal favorites: • The hoppers (a must try!) - check the available days • Their range of dosa items • The biriyani, which is consistently flavorful and satisfying On this visit, I decided to try something different and went for the kottu roti. As always, the food was delicious. The portion size was perfect for one person, and the meat portion was quite generous. My partner had the beef biriyani, which was very fresh and flavorful. If you’re choosing between dishes, I’d definitely recommend giving the biriyani a try. The service is another highlight, the staff are always smiling, friendly, and attentive. A special shoutout to Samira, Sweta, and another Indian staff member (didn’t catch her name) who took excellent care of our table. We truly appreciated their warm and professional service. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion size, and while the atmosphere is modest, it’s always clean and welcoming. Highly recommend trying this place at least once- you won’t be disappointed!

Become a Vancouver staple for Indian food. We have been coming here for years now. The portions are generous, quality is consistent, and everything is freshly prepared. And the hours are very long - great for late night and odd time cravings.

Google
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was honestly disappointing. I ordered a dosa and what I got was cold, soggy, and clearly not freshly made. The sambar was just as bad—watery, bland, and served lukewarm at best. To make things worse, the service was equally poor. Staff seemed uninterested and inattentive. No one bothered to check if everything was okay, and when I politely mentioned the food was cold, they didn’t seem to care. Definitely not coming back. There are far better places to enjoy a proper dosa with warm, flavorful food and decent service.

Originally this location was a Chinese restaurant called east river. Then it became Efendi Uyghur. Now it’s Dosa Factory. We were seated and greeted by our kind server. I didn't get his name but he was wearing glasses. His service was amazing. If you tell him it's your first time here, he will take care of you. I asked for his recommendation. I got the chicken dosa, with masala spice. My friend got the lamb dosa. Ambience is good, lots of people, groups of couples. The only thing that was peculiar was that they give you free bottles of water. Perhaps this is to reduce dishes and labor going back and forth for refills? The dosas came and not sure what happend but the cooks didn't roll ours like a traditional dosa.. I think they just got busy and needed to push out the food quickly? Or perhaps the meat dosas were folded and not rolled? As for taste, wow... So comforting. My taste buds were dancing. The dessert was small and simple but amazingly delicious! I would love to come back and try something different from the menu. 😀

Yelp
solid dosa, but honestly nothing too amazing. Service was good and everything was clean. Parking was really hard but that's not super relevant. I had the chicken dosa but I asked for no potatoes, but they just mixed the chicken with the potatoes inside. Oh well, I was able to pick a lot of the chicken out. The vada were good but very spicy. They had high chairs, so baby was happy.

Yelp
It had been awhile since I went to Dosa Factory, I use to be a regular here but thought their quality had dropped a little. I went back again after almost a year and thought it had picked up again!! Their service was much better and faster as well. I got my usual idli vada combo from here but this time, I enjoyed it a bit more because their sambar was not as watery but more thicker and had better flavour!! I also tried their podi idli this time which I had never tried before. It was idli cut up with podi masala on top, it was pretty good!! My friends got their uttapam which was hot and made fresh and their paper masala dosa which was awesome. I guess the one thing they were lacking last time was that their sambar and white chutney were watered down, however, I didn't feel that this time. Yaay! I'm so glad, I will be back soon!

Yelp
Food was amazing and came quick! The service was okay. No wait time when we went, and there were plenty of tables open. Ambiance was fine.

Yelp
A classic staple in Vancouver, well known for their $5.99 dosas on Mondays! Ive only been here a couple times, but have always enjoyed the service, speed and the ambience. I finally got to try the Monday special, and it was a great way to try other flavours without breaking the wallet. We had the butter chicken dosa, lamb vindaloo dosa and Palak paneer dosa. We scarfed these dishes down so fast, I almost forgot I was eating in a public place lol. It was very delicious, and whether you eat it with the chutneys or not, the food really does slap! (That's a good thing!) If you don't get to come on Mondays, that's okay! Their prices are still really good.

Yelp
A coworker told us about this restaurant. We arrived at around 5:30 PM and we're quickly seated. The menu has many options and on the Monday evening we arrived. The dosa were basically half price. I had asked the person who came to our table what they would recommend and had come to the restaurant with recommendations from a coworker. Be sure to ask for mild spice if you're someone who enjoys tasty but not super hot food has a spice level of medium can be quite warm. Our dishes were large and laden and very good food and I still had leftovers the next day for lunch, which was yummy. Expect this place to get quite busy on a Monday evening and expect the music to be rather loud. The place gets hopping.

Yelp
My family has never tried dosa at this restaurant, so we visited here this evening. There were many tables when we got here around 6pm. The space was quite big and comfortable as we could see tables were not packed together. The interior design, decors and lighting including the background music were just about right marching a dosa restaurant. It was interesting that the restaurant provided printed black and white paper menus. That was fine. Everything was clearly printed and we could see all the dish names. It was only three of us but we ordered four dishes to try. Everything was very good. Each table has some bottles of water. It was included in the meals. Very interesting! Usually servers or restaurants would offer water pulling from a jug or jar. We ordered three different dosas - eggplants, beef and eggplants with potatoes, and gun powder lentils. All of them tasted excellent. They were not too spicy. The four dish was a special on Saturday. It was lamb chop with naan bread and rice at $19.99. Overall, we had a great eating experience. Ingredients were fresh and portion was big. We deducted one star because the weather was hot. The restaurant turns on many fans. It would be nicer if there was an air conditioning. Also in terms of parking, we parked on the bush street Kingsway. Looks like we have to find street parking in general.

Yelp
Wow how have I never come here before? Come here to get your South Indian fix!! I've driven by Dosa Factory so many times on Kingsway and have always been curious about it. I finally came for dinner with a friend Wed evening around 5:45 pm, and we were the first ones there. They don't provide cups of water here but instead give you bottled water, which I found interesting. My friend had been here before and recommended the dosas and biryani, so that's what we got. We shared a paneer masala dosa ($13.49) and chicken biryani ($15.99). He wanted beer, but they were out of Taj, so he got a bottle of Kingfisher for $6.99. We were both shocked at the huge portions and how good everything was. The dosa was bigger than the ones at our usual dosa spot, Dosa Corner on Fraser, and stuffed full of paneer. The accompanying chutneys and sambar were all delicious as well. The chicken biryani was also delicious, especially after mixing in the chutney and raita served on the side. I did find the chicken in the biryani a bit bland, but it was still good. I really liked the hard boiled egg in the biryani and thought it went really well with the rice. This is our new go-to spot for South Indian food! We will be back. Lots of tables were also ordering curries, which come with rice, naan, and raita on the side, so maybe we can try a curry here next time as well.

Yelp
I've been dining here for years since they opened. Used to come at lunch once a month when I worked in Van. I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. I've even tried their Indo-Chinese fusion & was still good (4/5). I am posting bc I came here for Wednesday Curry Night, and we had a larger group than what I had RSVP'd for. Well, they still made it happen (15 ppl, RSVP for 12). All the dishes came out within 10 minutes (to be fair, there were 15 of us, and a few ordered dosas). Not one person complained about their meal, in fact they loved it so much, many will be coming back!!! The only thing was lacking was consistency from waitstaff: I ordered a side of sambar & was never brought it until I asked (near the end of my meal). I asked for take home containers (bc my stomach is small) 3x and only got 1 (I needed 2 plus foil for naan). I had to ask a fourth time when I went up to pay, and finally got my goods. (PS great as leftovers!!!). Another F for service is they did not set up tables: I ended up delivering water & cutlery to our 2/3 of our group. I guess only the first third made the service cut ‍ I'd recommend take-away or delivery service, as there was a huge table near the front absolutely FULL of these orders. Also I've ordered take-away often during the pandemic, and they were great! Food tips: get the Chicken 65, you'll want to bathe in the sauce. For me, there are too many amazing dosas to recommend. Curry? Get the Karaikadi Spicy yet soooo flavourful!!! Always need sambar.

Yelp
Finally tried out Dosa Factory. They're a South Indian restaurant that specializes in dosa (duh). You'll find them next door to Sun Bo Kong. We dropped in on a Monday afternoon (around 1:30pm) and it was busy. It took about 30 minutes for our food to arrive. All their dosas (which come with a dessert) are $6.99 on Monday's. - Lamb palak dosa - okay but the lamb was a touch dry and there wasn't much spinach mixed in. Flavours were on the light side. - Madrasi style special dosa - spread special chutney with masala. A bit more seasoning came through but nothing jumped out at us. - Lamb vindaloo and alu gobi dosa - my buddy ordered two dosas to go. They gave gulab jamun as the desserts. Decent dosas but doesn't beat out House of Dosa's offerings.

Yelp
This was our first time back to Dosa Factory since pre-pandemic times. We used to love coming here on Mondays, (and still do!) as they have a Dosa Monday special where you can have Dosas for just $6.99 each. Dosas come from South India and are thin pancakes made from lentils & rice. They are huge and can come with a wide assortment of fillings to put inside. My personal favourite is the Eggplant Dosa but I decided to try something different this time and go with the Mix Veg Dosa. We ordered a few appetizers as well including the very highly recommended Gobi 65! (Cauliflower marinated with spices) We ordered a plain cheese Dosa for daughter, from the kids menu. They seemed to have forgotten about her order. We had to remind them more than once to go check on her order. It took ages for them to bring her cheese Dosa out, and they never offered any kind of apology for the long wait. We were not impressed; however, I strongly believe in forgiveness and second chances, and as we've been here many times in the past and this is the first time I recall having poor service, I will still give them a "fair" rating for service. Service: Fair Parking: Street parking Location: On Kingsway with lots of other businesses in the area.

Yelp
Stopped by here as a friend had heard great things. And who doesn't love a good dosa! Seated promptly. Had a flag a waiter for a menu, but it's fine. Great to see water bottles on the table vs cups of water. We got 3 dosas and they were great! The one thing which still confuses me is this- my go to is a rava dosa, whenever I order it, I am warned it will take at least 10+ min to make. This one came out in 5 min with the other dosa. HOW? Chutney was great, sambhar was good. The stuffing was good. Would be back.
google avatar

Rhea G.

Yelp
This place is good when you are craving a dosa or some south Indian food. I got the vada and masala dosa, both were good and I loved the chutneys that it came with.

Edward L.

Yelp
Amazing food. Monday special is the best value food I've seen in years. Service is quick, and while the ambiance certainly isn't fine dining, does it have to be? Restaurants are for food. This food is delicious. Simply. Definitely come on a Monday for an $8 dosa + dessert. Palak Paneer, Lamb Palak are a few of my favourites.
google avatar

Barry W.

Yelp
One line review: Decent taste and value. Having enjoyed dosa just down the street, we thought it would be worth checking out this place as a sort of light comparison. We had to do this from memory, because it's been a while since we've eaten in this part of town. This place felt like a rough equivalent from that perspective. We had two kinds of vada and a couple of dosa. Everything was sufficiently tasty and portion was good. I took some of the dosa home for a snack. Service was slow, but in fairness, it was Monday (their special price dosa day). Parking was free in the neighborhood. Bottom line: This was good enough to merit a return visit.

D D.

Yelp
Honestly I have to give a 5 because this place, although they went through a phase of messing up many doordash orders, has some of the best indian food around for the price. Their pakoras are unmatched, and the curries and dosas I've never been disappointed with. The garlic naan is also off the chain. Dine in is spacious but strange feeling, with water bottles on the table, I usually just order takeout. When I crave indian food, dosa factory is easily in the top 3
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Excellent. I've never had better value for a restaurant meal. It's Monday and there was a significant discount but I would also go on a regular night when it's not on sale and the 5 star rating would still apply.
google avatar

Alok B.

Yelp
My family ordered some Idli and medu vada and paneer 65 to start and had the rava masala dosa, ghee fry, mysore masala dosa and the paneer butter masala dosas as entrees. Sambar was spicy but not too spicy. The vada and Idli were nice and fresh and tasted good. The paneer was well liked by all and disappeared fast. The dosas were probably the crispiest I've ever had. Overall, a very good Dosa place.

Yelp
I been cooking for 30 years, This review is not only for food . This is about the hospitality, This place is not a fine dining but it is a finest place for a homely feeling , You will not enjoy not not only food but the chef and the co partner George's spectacular hospitality and his way of serving in the table . I have noticed one thing here , Chef George ( he is very simple with his jean and T shirt, but definitely a celebrity chef's body language) will address everyone in the restaurant with his very warm welcoming talk . Chef George will make you laugh laugh laugh . And his food is wonderful, the presentation and taste remain me back home India. If you want to enjoy food this the place , if you want to enjoy hospitality, this the place , if you want to laugh , this is the place . Overall this is one of the very good place for Indian food bucket list .

Yelp
Excellent dosas and appetizers. Excellent service. We were five adults and two young children. we could not have had a better experience. Dosa Factory has become our favourite these past couple of years.

Yelp
I heard so many rave reviews about Dosa Factory, I FINALLY got a chance to try it out. I was NOT disappointed!! in fact ... I will definitely be going back to try other dishes. They have daily specials, my son says the best one is Mondays where Dosas are half price. Another friend of mine said it's a good deal but not worth the craziness, he'd rather pay full price than to try to get a table on Monday nights! Spice level was just perfect, but then again I have a high tolerance for spicy foods. Service was polite and friendly. Free parking in the back. Street parking is free as well. The highlight of the evening was that another patron was celebrating their birthday. I didn't know it at first ... the lights started to flicker ... then turned off completely. I thought either the place is closing and they're kicking us out haha or there's a black out. Next thing you know this upbeat birthday song comes on they bring out a GIANT birthday platter complete with ice-cream, whipped cream and sparkles. It was drizzled with chocolate and a birthday message was written with melted caramel. Drool!! over-all a great experience!

Yelp
Things have declined. For sometime, it had stolen the crown for top dosa spot at this intersection. Not anymore. The attention to quality, cleanliness and detail, have gone down. The Monday dosa special has gone up in price, and costs more than next door. Last three Mondays, I tried this place, and the other place back-to-back, and I found the other place to now be doing a better job in every way (service, cleanliness, and taste). Perhaps, the place was sold to new owners. I don't see the original people here anymore. Something changed.
google avatar

Em G.

Yelp
Go before or after the lunch rush, especially on a Monday. Though they have lots of tables, it gets busy due to their Monday special of ANY dosa for $6.95 (with dessert). A steal of a deal! What we ordered: Chicken Dosa Chef Special Cheese and Spinach Dosa Paneer Masala Dosa Alu Gobi Dosa All of them were amazing and tasted fantastic! it comes with a side of (i think) daal and 2 chutneys. Plus a rose water dessert. Not a huge fan of drinking rose water flavoured dishes. But will totally go again for my Dosa craving! Try it out and be amazed!

Yelp
Let me start by saying, GO TO HOUSE OF DOSAS instead! Go here, and you'll regret it!!! I ordered food at 2:40 pm, went in at 3:40 pm, let the girl at the entrance know my order number and she processed the payment for the order and said, please wait, and went inside the kitchen. Did not come back at all, I was sick of waiting and was finally able to get hold of another member of staff at 4:10 pm and explained my situation and she goes into the kitchen, comes back with my package, and says - did you not let anyone know!? I was like, I told the other girl, paid and she buggered off and never came back!! So, I was made to wait for 30 minutes for nothing because of the irresponsible behaviour of that employee who doesn't give a damn about the customer, they did not even apologise for this! Unprofessional Irresponsible Horrible Please don't waste your time and money by going to this dump calling itself a restaurant! Total disgrace. Disgusting behaviour. Not even sorry for what they did or even tried to do something in return for their fault. Utter garbage factory

Yelp
Amazing south India classic foods! Very busy so service can be spotty at times. Worth the wait which is usually quick!

Yelp
Came here to try dosas for the first time, but the dish I liked the most was the lamb masala (even though I don't usually like lamb). The lamb was tender and they came in easy-to-eat bite sizes. I love biryani as all the spices in the rice blows my taste buds away. Unfortunately, the biryani here didn't quite do that and I could only really taste one spice: spiciness. (Perhaps the biryani's I've had before are more 'westernized'?? I don't know). At least it got me drinking more water that night, but... I thought that having Nestle bottled water at each table was odd. Even though free, it changed the ambiance and the 'feel' at the table. Other than saving them work, I didn't think they were necessary. (I'm also not a fan of Nestle water). After having dosas for the first time, I don't think I'm really a dosa type of girl, I would have naan ANY day though. Next time I come, I'd definitely get a curry over a dosa since it comes with rice and naan :) AND I'd choose mango kulfi for dessert. Tip: Remember to check out their daily weekday specials. Mondays $7 for dosas (with dessert), Tuesdays...etc. Check their website!

Yelp
The food was wonderful! George owner and chef made birthday celebration even more memorable! staff very nice.

Yelp
Best dosa you will eat, even at 2 in the morning. Fast service and amazing taste. Reasonable prices and good portions on the appys. Been coming here for years, recently renovated, they added more space.
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
This was second time around eating here. The first time I mainly had curries, but this time I had the dosa. I decided on a lamb okra dosa and a garlic naan. It took awhile for the food to come out. The dosa came with dhal and two sauces. One sauce was coconut and I'm not sure about the other one. But they were both pretty good. The dosa was quite large but wasn't fully filled with the filling. But I found that there was plenty of lamb and okra to go with the dosa. The garlic naan was buttery and had plenty of garlic with garlic. It went well with the dhal. Overall, it was pretty filling and was reasonably priced.

Yelp
Came here for the 5.99 Monday special, except it's now 6.95. The sign says dessert included but don't get too excited. It's a very small piece of cake the size of 5 toonies stacked up, placed in some white sauce in a small dish right next to the dipping curry sauce. So I thought it was just another sauce for dipping the dosa. Onto the dosa. Texture was perfect. The ends peel off nicely and offer a soft but solid bite. My lamb is fine and not too salty. Amount of lamb is lacking but tender enough. All in all, a tasty dosa for the money. The other writer has a point about the complimentary bottled water on every table. It's generous of them but a jug of tap water would have been equally appreciated.

Yelp
Newly opened south Indian restaurant near my place,i've been planning to pay a visit to this talk of the town dosa place since last week but its only last night that i had the chance to go. They still have balloons infront ,and the first table theres this sample already cooked dosa and Indian pancake displayed and it looks so delish the dosa even have a happy valentine written on it,its started to get busy but since im by myself insttntly i got a table...at a quick glance the place can house more than 50 clients. Neat place, clean but asusual the smell of spices is in the air but i dont have problem with it i love Indian dishes. It has TV on the wall, decors are not fancy they have few biog frames showcasing Indian cultures and pit stop.Service is fast and excellent, they have a daily special and when i came its a dosa day.Bottled water is compliment for now.Wash room is clean,im surprised that it has a international clientele. For my appetizer i got the deep fried cauliflower,by the color i knew its a hot one red and crispy comes with two kind of sauces,a bit salty but otherwise it was awesome. For my main dish i ordered the daily special which is the dosa combo, selection of veggies/lamb/chicken oe beef,i got the beef..it comes with a white thing i believed its a rice cake, some chutney and sauce, the dosa is huge and even longer than the big plate. spicy and biting my tongue,i just love it,the beef is so tender and the fussion of spices is very good plus with the sauce ohhhh its just heaven.i was not able to finish my meal so i brought home almost half of the appetizer and the dosa. Waiter service, noise level is average, server are all south-asians but also bilingual speaks english and have a good knowledge of the foods.clean table, less decoration, well lighted, there is wifi, its free and working good. The place is good for a group, family and kids friendly place that is if your kid loves chili hahahahha. Accept credit/debit/and cash street parking open 11 am till late night.Twp thumbs up to this place and for sure i will come back soon to try the butter chicken and all the biryani....i dont eat lamb but theres beef and chicken and i can go veggies aswell Congratulation Dosa factory im pretty sure this place will go along long way..keep up the good work,,keep spicing vancouver

Yelp
My friend highly recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. I've never had a dosa before and never even heard of it until this place was recommended. And it was fabulous! The servers were super nice and attentive. I liked how they had free water bottles on the table. Overall, I'd come again and I'd recommend this place to others.

Yelp
Dosa Factory was borne out of some shoddy labor relations practices at the larger House of Dosas down the road. Some employees got together and started their own restaurant out of protest, and lo an behold, it's pretty good. I like the fun conical shape of the dosa here (I'm easy to impress, I guess), and the curries are all really good. The service is kind of slow, which is the only things keeping them from five stars in my books. Coconut chutney is lovely, as is the mutter paneer dosa. Good assortment of vegetarian dishes. Pretty good overall. Vive la revolucion.

Yelp
Ordered the beef curry and it was nothing special. The curry tasted like the type you get in a jar at Superstore and smeared over stewing beef. Avoid this restaurant because they will scam you on your bill. I came on a Wednesday, where any curry with rice and naan is supposed to be $11.99 as advertised on their paper menus. After ordering only the beef curry dish, the man at the counter overcharged me for $17.99 pre-tip. Since their bill only shows the total and doesn't have line items for each charge, I asked why the total was $17.99 and that it seemed a bit more than what was expected. He rudely responded that it was "because of tax", which was obviously wrong. Even if they hypothetically charged $2 for the self serve Kirkland water bottle, which is not advertised at all and is incredibly irresponsible for the environment, the bill couldn't be anymore than $15 after tax (5%) before tip. Definitely do not dine here unless you want to be robbed blind out of your hard earned money.

Yelp
Updating my rating as the last 2 times have been consistently good. Dosa (urad lentil rice Indian crepe) special on Mondays $6.99 any dosa w/ dessert, ras malai (milk dessert). I usually get the Paneer (Indian cheese) masala or Palak Paneer dosa for meatless Monday. Been there several times and depending on how busy they are, the taste of the vegetable bhaji affects the quality and freshness of the dosa. Yesterday, we went before the lunch crowd factoring it was a holiday, and our dosas were very good. I have ordered take out as well but would recommend to eat it there otherwise the dosa can become soggy.

Yelp
Their food may taste good, which is very rare for me...but the oil they use is contaminated.... It's very unhealthy....please avoid this restaurant....I was a huge fan of this restaurant....but, after knowing about their usage of old goods and reusing products, I really hate this place.....please don't go to this place...their reused oil will kill you

Yelp
Had the eggplant dosa tonight. It was nice. I asked for mild because I am no longer a fan of super spicy food since it ends up numbing my tongue. I really like the coconut chutney, so tasty. The coconut wasn't overpowering and the flavour was well balanced. The dhal was really delicious too. I had seconds. It was spicy but tolerable.

Yelp
Dose of Dosa: 4/5 Minus points for giving every customer a plastc water bottle and sending me home with the runs. The story is that discontent employees of the longstanding House of Dosa in a dispute with the owners parted ways to start their own restaurant 5 doors down. I imagine something similar is the case with Po Kong and Bo Kong vegetarian restaurants a stone's throw from the dosa restaurants and eachother, but that is for another time. Between competitors I couldn't tell you which has the better dosa. It's very likely that the chef when I visited House of Dosa is the same one currently at Dosa Factory. They were both impressive in size and flavours. I can say that the newer establishment is noticeably cleaner simply due to the carpet being newer but perhaps they took their quest for cleanliness a peg too far as they also only provide bottled water instead of water in a cup like every other sit-down restaurant in Vancouver. They're missing the first two R's in reduce, reuse, recycle and the Vancouverite in me felt guilty for supporting them. This may or may not be relevant to you but I need to mention that delicious as it undoubtedly was, I went home with a bit of an upset stomach which a half hour later had evolved into the worst stomach ache I've had in recent memory. I believe it was food poisoning as I spent the night on the toilet and the morning after.

Yelp
I really like this place! I've only been here twice, both on Wednesday, that's when they have all their curries on special. They have daily specials. Mondays, they have their dosas on special which are really popular. I've ordered the goat curry both times and it's really good, nice amount of heat and really tasty and flavourful. It comes with naan and rice. Love it! The place is quite clean and spacious and the people who work here are very friendly. I will be back!

Yelp
Ambiance 3.5/5 I came with a two buddies on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was bright and spacious. They've got lots of tables and should be able to cater to bigger groups and is family friendly. The decor was simple and the place was clean Service 2.5/5 The restaurant was filled up real quick after we got in. The staff was friendly and nice. They had given us recommendations since we've never had Dosas before. Service was a bit slow though. Our naan bread came relatively quickly but it took over 20mins for our dosa to come to come and I even noticed that some customers had left because it took a while to even get their order taken. Food 3.5/5 We ordered some naan bread to start and each ordered our own Dosa. They had all kinds of Dosas including vegetarian ones. I went for the Chicken Pakala. I liked it. Like most Indian dishes, it was flavorful and is packed with spices. Value 3/5 The Dosa looks larger than it is because it comes out as a huge wrap looking thing. I'm a pretty heavy eater and could have been more hungry than usual that evening. By the end of my meal, I wasn't quite full. I probably would have needed 2 Dosas to feel satisfied. Overall 3/5 Dosa Factory has a variety of item on their menu apart from the Dosas including Curries and Rice dishes. I'd be curious to try those other items. It was my first time eating a Dosa and I really enjoyed the flavour, but was a bit underwhelmed by the size of the dish. Dosa Factory does seem to have daily specials where Dosas are cheaper. So it might be better to go on one of those evenings. Although, I would be reluctant if that means more people and slower service. Tip: They offer FREE bottled water that's set on your table

Yelp
Drove by this place a few times and thought we give this a try. Those chimney looking thing looks amazing to destroy and devour. They offer a variety of dosa from vegetarian, meat and specialty. There are a bit of them and i can't remember a thing other than they are all delicious chimney looking edibles and i can't wait to go back again. Also, don't be fooled dosa factory doesn't only do dosa, but they have a variety of non-dosa related food as well.

Yelp
The best dosa & palak paneer I've had in town so far! Super friendly & helpful staff, reasonable prices, relatively easily accessible location by transit. Their dosas are classical South Indian style - crispy but not greasy. Everything tasted like it was made with really fresh ingredients. From the dosa itself to the curry, yogurt sauces, paneer cheese & spinach curry. Absolutely lurved & would recommend as a great place to visit for anytime of the day or after partying. Food is way better & cheaper than anything you'd find on Granville st after hours.

Yelp
Two teammates and I were coming back late to Vancouver from playing soccer in South Surrey when one said, there's a great dosa place coming up on the right. I had never tried dosa before and was totally up for the experience. For those that don't know, dosas are like monster-sized crepes made out of lentils and rice flour. From my seriously limited knowledge on dosas, based upon perusing the menu, they appear to be filled with the usual array of Indian dishes. To set the scene: this restaurant is seriously far from sophisticated. TVs adorn the walls playing everything from soccer to Coronation Street. Despite the rudimentary surroundings, the aroma of delectable Indian food was intoxicating. Even at 12:30am, the servers were very friendly and efficient with the full house. They were quick to take our order. Unfortunately, we missed the midnight cutoff for beer, so we had the plastic bottled waters already provided at the table. Yes, you're right, that's not exactly earth friendly. The food was quick to arrive and was delicious. We had the eggplant dosa, cheese and spinach dosa, and chana masala. I adore Indian food, and these did not disappoint. This restaurant is crazy cheap for the quality of the food they serve. They really seem to know what their customers desire. More and more people kept arriving. Even as we were leaving at 1:30am, they were seating a party of at least 10 people. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant if it wasn't for the state of the bathrooms. If you are brave, not squeamish, or you can manage to hold off, please give this restaurant a try. I will definitely be going again.

Yelp
Almost authentic south Indian restaurant in the Vancouver area, much better the house of dosas nearby! They run packed houses every day so don't be surprised to wait.. We had a bunch of things over a couple of days Sambar vada Excellent Idly good, sambar really good Egg dosa good Veg biryani really good Chicken 65 tastes authentic but not hot enough Thayir vada, poondu kulambu, kothu parotta all of them perfectly tasty They are spiced well, not so hot on the tongue... Much better than most Indian places in the area

Yelp
Tonight we went to dosa factory. We were excited to try their Idli's. Probably the worst Idli's we've ever eaten. They looked like they had been made the day before.... Dry and basically inedible. I ate one and left 2 on my plate. We also ordered the chicken tandoori.... I really don't think they have a tandoori oven. It looked like they put a tandoori paste (sauce) on it and baked it. I ordered raita that looked like mayonnaise. Service was mediocre. Just totally disappointed. The vegetarian samosa was ok. Better than anything else. I won't be back.

Yelp
Hmm, came here to get some samosas. They told me its $6 for 3. Ended up getting only 2. Quite steep for $3 each for samosa that was small to medium size. Service is very slow. Seems like they all are lacking training. Very all over the place. The place to make payment is blocked with buffet bar, which is an annoyance. There is a better dosa place 3-4 stores down - closer to Knight St. I will not come back here. Samosa was pretty good and tasty.

Yelp
My first dose experience! Enjoyed it a lot! Definitely going to try other dishes next time.

Yelp
If you enjoy or haven't tried South Indian food.. you need to check out the new kid in town..Dosa Factory. The management and cooks from House of Dosa (few shops down) opened their own place which is bigger and cleaner with more food options. They have Monday $5.99 specials as well as deals for big groups like all you can eat dosa for 5 people for $49.99. Their hours are great too open till 3 am for those late night craving. They have something for everyone.. vegetarian options, seafood options, traditional south Indian food as well as regular Indian staples like Biryani and lots of desert n drink options. We tried their butter chicken dosa, lamb oakra dosa, seafood vindaloo dosa and spicy masala dosa... All were great. Also tried their chilli fish (caution it's hot and spicy good). They have over 100 different types of dosa's. If you not sure what a dosa is imagine a savory crunchy crepe with fillings (vegetables, meat, cheese, spicies.. depending on what you order). While the restaurant is big please note that Monday is a very popular day due to dosa specials and be prepared to wait (especially if you are a big group). They can accommodate bigger groups and do take reservations except for Monday. Do come and try his place out. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Last Monday after an epic week and weekend, I headed to Hours of Dosa right on the Kingsway/Knight corner. I parked half of a block west of that corner when my sister drew my attention to Dosa Factory, which I have never seen before. The Factory just opened, so I took a closer look and one of the workers from the restaurant invited us in. Like House of Dosa, Factory had a Monday Dosa special. Factory has them at $5.95. One of the workers recognized me from my frequent patronage at House of Dosa and quickly brought over my favorite: Gobi Alu Dosa. 9 The dosa was longer :)))) and wider =D than standard size, maybe it was their way of welcoming new customers! Dosa came with the standard two chutneys, sambar and a mystery dip. All delicious and filling. I do hope they replace the bottled waters (seen at every table along with utensils and napkins) with old fashioned glasses of water for the sake of the earth! Even if you recycle the plastic bottles, the process produces lots of carbon. Maybe they have a reason for providing water in bottles but I prefer drinking glasses, so please make that switch. I will return and alternate between them and House of Dosa!

Yelp
This is a great place, food is top notch and fast and friendly service. my only issue is the use of plastic bottles for drinking water and it would help the ambiance at dinner time if they would dim the lights a bit...kinda can feel like your eating at a cafeteria being so bright.
