Panner dosa was awesome. Other dosa we tried were also good. Loved their sambar. Samosa nachos was bad, and a very tiny size not recommended.

Not the great authentic dosa you’re craving for. It’s definitely priced higher with smaller portions. Specially the samosa nachos, I wanted more and I loved them the most. More than the dosa. For an overall experience it’s not bad at all. Atmosphere is beautiful so you can actually enjoy.

Very very expensive (dosa selling for 14$ ) the size is way smaller . Food was cold , and it was very expensive she mentioned they make it fresh but still its cold They destroyed dosa! Never going back ! The size of dosa is way small !! They only know marketing and not cooking, i came watching instagram posts ! Don’t believe in their reviews! Very disappointed ! 14$ for a thin dosa with veggies sauted with siracha sauce is not fusion ! Please ! And also vada pav was not at all worth , the bun is size of the slider ( 1/4th of a burger bun ) and its $5 which is way mote expensive Very expensive and not worth. Trust me and avoid *Dosa prices after tax it came to $14 Tip : if you want to try their food , order one and then see if its worth paying the amount for it ! If yu like it good , if not i saved you money and time !

What a nice surprise! Delicious and flavorful. Not too heavy. As a non-vegetarian I had plenty of delicious options to choose from. One dosa is more than enough for a meal. Service was prompt! And the hand sanitizer was a plus. Oh, and you don’t need forks. Everything I had was perfectly workable with hands. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Unique take on dosas. Fusion is hard to perfect but they have done it. Jackfruit dosa, peppy paneer dosa, paneer tikka, bombay sandwich and not to forget the rose caramel doffle were so good. Vegetarian friendly pretty lit place to dine in.

Maybe the evening experience here is different than in the afternoon. Wanted to try their doffle (dosa waffle on a stick) but that item is only offered during the evening, would’ve been nice if they’d called it out on the menu or anywhere else. Their standard dosa was fine and their schezwan dosa was incredibly spicy. Since the dosas were served rolled (folded?) they were rather chewy not crisp. Not the fastest service, but that was because they only had one person operating the food truck. Their sambar (lentil soup), podi and chutneys are out of their dosa’s league, could’ve drank a cup full of the soup, it was that good! Curry butter was fragrant and yummy. Dosa shack is located within a small food truck park, parking can be limited based on your time of arrival.

I visited this place upon my friend's suggestion and I can definitely say that this is a unique food truck. Menu was super interesting and we have tried most of them with complete satisfaction. Peppy Paneer and SPC2 became my favorite. Samosa Nachos is perfect for snack/appetizer and I only wish If it was a bigger portion 🙂. Doffles for Desert is a must try (even if you had to eat food from other truck). I will definitely visit this place again to try other items.

Dosa with a twist? Yes, a unique South Indian-Texan collab food. When my Austin trip was finalized, I did some research about the best places to eat near the place I stayed. Dosa Shack popped up, noticed it due to the name, of course. I ignored it since it's a food truck. But eventually I ended up experiencing their food. It's a South Indian food truck - but the food is given a unique Texas twist. Their recipes are South Indian rooted, but the ingredients & preparation are altered to invent these new dishes. They have verity of dosas served with different chutneys, Sandwiches, Street bites aka Chaats, Drinks and Desserts. One of their Dosa options is the Original dosa, but it has parmesan in it. Rest of them were modified. We decided to try the Devil Veggie and the Jack of All. Also ordered the Samosa Nachos from the Street food section. They prepare the food once the order is placed. It took around 15 minutes for the food to come out. The dosas were served with 2 different chutneys and Lentil soup. Tomato chutney is their Mild option and the Ginger chutney is the Hot one. Cherry tomato Lentil soup is medium spicy. Ginger chutney - ridiculously good. Goes well with the dosa and add tons of flavor to it. The Devil Veggie - stuffed with vegetables sautéed with schezwan sauce. It had big flavor and spiciness by default. With chutneys, a real deal. The Jack of all constructed with the tropical fruit - Jack Fruit. It's the tender jack fruit used for this along with other spices and curry leaves. The dosa is stuffed with that Masala and it's fabulous! It gave me nostalgia about my homeland! Worth every penny for it! The Samosa nachos is another twist added to the famous Indian street food. It's Jalapeño cheese samosas served with herb yogurt and salsas! Loved it! Big kudos to the brain behind this concept. But to pull this off doing all the justice to the concept? Deserves a big applause! Loved the concept, Loved the food! I hope they will add more trucks so that people get to enjoy their amazing food! Service was top! Can I give SIX STARs? Highly recommended!

We love the concept of Dosa Shack. Pink Dosas are innovative. The SP2 is the best fusion dosa I've eaten. The Doffles are incredible, you can't miss that. The seating area they have is nice, with fake grass and fans. However, if you are a traditionalist, this might not be the place for you, We've come to Dosa Shack a few times now and the consistency of the dosa has been different each time so I have to knock one star off for that. They need to always be super crispy. The Sambar is different than Tamil household Sambars. I also think the wait time is longer compared to other food trucks on 5000 Burnet but that's just because it got a bigger crowd.

Dosa shack is a vegetarian South Indian food truck taking their grandma's dosa recipe and inventing creative specials! (Dosa's are savory crepes) We loved the classic dosa (potato, onion, curry leaf) and peppy paneer dosa (paneer, pickled onion, herb yogurt). The dosa itself was perfection, fresh & crispy, and both fillings were so flavorful! My favorite is the peppy paneer :) The sauces that accompany the dosas are a fantastic complement. I love the spin on the traditional dipping sauces and sambal. The red sauce (a ginger chutney) has a little kick which I loved! We also tried this month's January specials, both are uttapams (a fluffy, savory pancake). The uttapam sandwich is stuffed with a pav bhaji-like potato patty. I found the sandwich quite heavy but tasty! My favorite was the crispy avocado uttapam. This is eaten like a taco and stuffed with fried avocado and a delicious slaw. Have to try! Last but not least, the mango lassi. This is a thick drink made with yogurt and mango, slightly sweet and very refreshing. A great choice to accompany your meal! This is definitely a spot I'd come back to. Delicious dosas and specials every month! Hope they keep the crispy avocado uttapam on the permanent menu though :)

I got the Veggie Uttapam and was disappointed that it was 90% onion and a tiny bit of raw broccoli. It wasn't cooked all the way so the broccoli was still raw. :( It came with a small lentil soup that was so hot that it worries me about the plastic chemicals melting into the soup. The Veggie Uttapam was too spicy for me and too dry - the overload of lentil powder did not help. Mango lassi was fine, nothing special. There are bathrooms 2 down from the Sushi truck - ramp leads to a white door labeled Restrooms. There are picnic tables around to sit down at.

A friend recommended this place so we went although this was a little out of the way. The food is ok at best. The dosa is nothing to write home about, the stuffing is decent but the quantity of the food for the price is very little and the accompaniments like Sambhar is way too little for the dosa. The chutney was ok though. It does not stop at the dos though. We also got the Bombay sandwich and I promise I can make a better sandwich without putting much effort into it. The only thing nice was the wada pav and I couldn't get myself to call it great although I tried. Not going back.

I like dosas so why not try it stuffed with some yummy flavor combinations! Who can say no to cheese?! From their colorful food truck, inviting website to excellent customer service it was definitely a pleasant experience. I ordered the Classic dosa, jalapeño cheese dosa and the Bombay grilled cheese. They gave us a buzzer and estimate time it will be ready. They have tables set up next to the truck and they are fancy!!!! They had a mister!!! In this Texas heat you need that mist to cool you off. I picked up the goods and I enjoyed EVERYTHING! I am amazed how they got the filling in the dosa where it didn't alter the texture of it. It wasn't soggy from the cheese or fillings. The cheese jalapeño and classic dosa has great flavors. The dark red/maroon sauce was the star of the show. Yum! I love spicy foods so it was the highlight for me. Very spicy and good. The Bombay grilled cheese was excellent . It had superb flavor and I like the fresh tomato. The soup that came with it was delicious. I dipped my dosa in it too :). Go check them out in the food trailer park off Burnet road.

I am only rating the devil veggie dosa and mango lassi with this review. The dosa batter is phenomenal, but this one in particular was lacking flavor and punch. I wasn't getting the szechwan garlic sauce. The veggies were just okay. The chutneys and lentil soup are delicious. The mango lassi was quite good but warm (understandable given the brutal August 105° heat) but some ice would have been nice. Location and parking is very easy. If you want authentic dosas with gluten-free and vegan options, this is the place.

I can tell the owner really cares about his food. The quality is high. I have had better dipping sauce and dosa fillings before, but the dosa dough/batter from this place is the best I have ever had. That being said, their fillings and curry sauce are great too, but the dough is just outstanding I got jackfruit dosa and patty paneer dosa. They all look the same from the outside so I only took 1 photo. Both flavors are great. I'll come back for sure.

The menu includes dosas of course but they also have few chaat items and grilled sandwiches. They also offered mini samosas and kaju katli sweets as part of the one year anniversary celebration. We ordered a jack fruit and peppy paneer filling dosa. The lady outside informed us that there would be a45 minute wait which was also expected since it was Friday evening. The owners were very polite throughout and thanked us for our patience. Our order came within 20 minutes though and dosas were quite tasty. There was ample filling in the dosas with the right combination of spices. All dosas are pink which is not customary. The pink color comes from beetroot added to the batter and is a dedication to mothers and grandmothers in India. A wonderful thought and gesture.

Tried this food truck a while back and ordered an original dosa. I have never had one, but this seemed like a rip off, $11 for basically nothing. It was like a crispy crepe with some spices smeared inside and a couple of sauces and a 4oz soup. Not for me.

Admittedly I don't know much about dosas, but I thought they were pretty good! The crepe part was crispy and the filling was flavorful. I got the classic dosa which is a potato, onion, curry leaf filling which I think is a good starting point for anyone to try. It's not a spicy filling but it is delicious. My sister got the devil veggie which was recommended as a backup option as the other spicy option she was looking for was sold out. The dosas come with 2 chutneys and a lentil soup. The "spicier" chutney wasn't too bad and leans more into the sweeter side for me...but may actually be spicy for some. The green chutney wasn't spicy but was my favorite flavor combo. The paneer tikka was delicious but those jalapeños were spicy! And I'd like to think my spice tolerance is pretty high so you've been warned. The portion was a bit small but honestly, the sticks were so tasty I couldn't complain.

If you're looking for high quality South Indian food with the sweetest owners and incredible taste, then check out the Dosa Shack. They're posted up at 5000 Burnet with a bunch of other food trucks and I'd argue that their menu is the most solid food truck menu. Everything is superb, and I've had most of the menu. They have a really nice setup with plenty of seats by the truck to enjoy your meal. Start off with a mango lassi, samosa nachos and definitely order a classic dosa if you haven't had one before. If you have, then I recommend the SPC^2 dosa. Also, if visiting on the weekend and you see a special called Cheese Burst Vada Pav, order it! Finish off your meal with a rose caramel doffle and thank me later!

Love this spot!! As someone with a nut allergy, I'm always hesitant to go to Indian restaurants-- but this place is nut-free, which is music to my ears! So many delicious options, from dosas to samosa nachos to Bombay sandwiches. Just the right amount of spice and incredible flavors. Mango lassi was perfect as well! A good bit of parking and outdoor seating; service was great. Will be back here for sure!

Absolutely delicious food, both items we got we a hit, the vada pav was just like in india and the paneer dosa was out of this world, I can't wait to go back and try it again!

The food here is incredible.Super flavorful fillings that are spicy and you can't really go wrong with any that you choose. The dosa is light and chewy and is a perfect envelope for the food. My only issue is the customer service here isn't the greatest and it's kind of pricey. However overall the food is so good.

The mango lassi is absolutely delicious! The perfect treat during the hot summer days. I will definitely have to come back for the food. The staff was very friendly and explain the menu is detail for me. there's plenty of parking spaces around the food truck lot!

Got the SPC2 dosa and the samosa nachos. Both were really good! Liked that the dosa came as an order of two with a decent amount of filling but not so much that you lose the delicate dosa flavor. Lentil soup that it came with and the dipping sauces were delicious. Samosa nachos were crispy and reminded me of chaat. Servers were super nice and helpful and food came out relatively timely for a food truck. Will definitely be back to try some more items that they had already sold out of, since we came really late right before closing.

Ok, can I tell you how excited I am that there's a dosa truck close to me????? Love that this is in the food truck park on burnet, south of 2222. Here are my thoughts: 1. Reasonable prices 2. Love the spinach cheese dosa, had a super crispy texture 3. For some reason, the traditional dosa was less crispy? Keep this in mind 4. The mango lassi was chefs kiss 5. The doffle (dessert) was AMAZINGGGGGG Definitely worth a visit!

Peppy paneer was bomb. Ginger chutney is A++. Really lovely staff. Will be back for sure

So much passion and care from the team. They're relatively new and you can see they're pouring their heart into it. Food was delicious - enjoyed the fusion concept. Everything was bursting with flavor. Good quantity and reasonably priced. Seating provided right outside their food truck. Must check it out - but with an open mind.

My friends and I came here during their dosapalooza and loved it! Our favorites were the Bombay Grilled Cheese so much flavor and amazing cheese pull. The vada pav had a great spice. The original dosa was so good and the perfect comfort if you want something lighter. I liked the doffles however found it mostly tasting like rose and not as much of the gulab jamun and Carmel. Will definitely come again! Went in the evening and they have a good amount of outside seating and fan misters so it was great to eat and sit outside.

Real deal dosas at 5000 Burnet. * * * Austin is having a South Indian revolution. Tons and tons of South Indian engineers have moved to Central Texas. They want the outstanding food they have at home. All sorts of restaurants have opened to meet this need. * * * Sadly, for us Central Austin yuppies, Most of that good food is up in Cedar Park. Some of it is in Northwest Austin. Very little of it has hit the center of town. * * * But civilization is moving southeast. There is now a credible dosa truck at 5000 Burnet - the best food court in the city. The menu is limited. Essentially, four or five kinds of dosas plus some minor trimmings items. Dosas are super-long, super-high rolled South Indian crepes that get filled with spicy goodness. They are a staple of South Indian cuisine, the way that sub sandwiches are a staple of American cuisine. There are lots of dishes in America besides sub sandwiches. Go to a place like Sangam Chettinad at McNeil and Parmer and you will be blown away with hundreds of intriguing possibilities. You can eat every meal for a week at Sangam Chettinad, order several dishes at every meal and never have to repeat a menu item. And most of those dishes would not be dosas. * * * Still, four or five kinds of dosas beats zero kinds of dosas ... And zero kinds of dosas is what we had previously. These are pretty good dosas. * * * The Dosa Shack does makes two culinary concessions to Austin's Anglo Yuppies. One) They cut their dosas in half. A normal dosa is longer than a foot long sub. Both ends stick out off the end of your plate. A normal dosa has all of the stuffing jammed in the middle like two tennis balls. The outside edges are "empty". Empty is okay because you are supposed to be savoring the taste of the pancake that makes up the dosa itself. People can argue about whether a dosa is good or bad, just on the taste of the cooked batter in the crepe itself. It is like a ramen noodle specialist sipping naked broth out of his bowl to see if the broth meets his standards at the purest level. The batter here seems fine to me - although I have not been following the Dosa Batter Debates carefully. There is still plenty of naked Crepe to taste if you want to enter those debates yourself. Two) They pack the dosa somewhat fuller than you would serve in a dosa for Tamils. This is so yuppies don't complain they are being ripped off. * * * Dosas come with hot sauces - multiple - and these do too. But the heat is in the stuffing and not the sauces, which is as things should be. Your first bite of stuffing will blow the top of your head off. This is why your head comes with hinges. You can blow the top of your head off with Dosas, and then replace the lid at the end of the meal and go back to your normal business. Two different hot sauces means you can blow the top of your head off three different ways - Sauce 1, Sauce 2 and Bare Naked. The flavor changes, so the trick never gets old. I inhaled my dosa in six and a half seconds. I wouldn't mind inhaling another one sometime very soon. * * * There are still some slots for rent in the 5000 Burnet food court. Any one want to open An Idli truck? A Chettinad truck? A Goat Curry truck? Or a Chaat truck? (Please, please, please a chaat truck?) We got room!

We tried Dosa Shack the other week. It was pretty darn good. We had never had a savory crepe. The crepe was packed with flavorful vegetables and the sauces were outstanding. Highly recommend them.

Food was phenomenal. I could eat here all the time, I wish it was closer to where I live so I could come more often. Also the service is amazing and the workers are very kind and even brought our food out to us and asked if it was good. You can just tell they put a lot of care into their food and 1000% pays off. Definitely coming here again!! Must try: samosa nachos!!!!

Got the rose caramel dessert ($7). He said it would take 5 minutes. When I checked back, he said another 5 minutes, and then another minute. Because of the long wait he gave me a mango lassi for free, but they ran out of straws.

Small but mighty menu. The pumpkin sambar has so much flavor. My husband mistakenly ordered the classic instead of the original so I need to go back to try that next time. We also had the samosa chaat that had a little pomegranate which is my absolute favorite because it helps to balance the spice. The dosa size is perfect. Highly recommend this for your Dosa fix.

Great food truck! I don't think I had ever had dosas, or maybe once a long time ago, but I guess they're like Indian crepes, forgive my ignorance. But this place was sooo good, even the unique desserts. Really friendly service, too.

Definitely our new go to place for dosas in Austin. The dosas and pancakes/uttapams are delicious. The chutneys that come along are so different and I would definitely get extra next time. The blt soup compliments the food well. I just wish it came with the dosas and didn't have to be ordered separately. Can't wait to try everything else on their menu. And the people working at the truck are wonderful. Highly recommend!

We tried to go to Dosa Shack yesterday. Their website said that they were open. We went to the address, which was a food trailer park on Burnet. None of the food trailers were open and we could not find one called Dosa Shack. I'm glad our attempt at an online order did NOT meet their required $40 minimum or we'd probably still be trying to figure out how to get a refund!

Love the atmosphere in this place. The location of the food truck is super chill and nice. They have a pretty interesting menu and dosa combinations, but I don't know, it wasn't the best dosa I've had in Austin. They could better their flavours. But the chaat we had was pretty nice. It's definitely a must try, but not the best you can have.

This may have been my second time eating South Indian food (ever), so for me, there were so many new mixes of spices and flavors. All the dishes we tried were new to me, but everything we had was good... food and service.

When I visited the truck was busy but the staff was friendly and very helpful! The dosas were delicious and the lentil soup was out of this world! The dosas came with three dipping sauces, which were very tasty too. I'll definitely be back for more!

We were very curious to try this place looking at the menu, and it did not disappoint. When I spoke to the owner about creating such unique dosa flavors, he talked about his years of groundwork before bringing his vision into reality. Each and every item on the menu is very well thought out, including the packaging of the food. My wife's and my favourite was the tomatillo chutney which you would never find anywhere else, followed by root veggie chaat, and not to forget the devil veggie dosa. Bamma's Lentil and Tomato(BLT) brought back memories of my grandmother's lentil soup. We couldn't stop and tried almost everything on the menu. I highly recommend this place for all your dosa cravings and unique dosa flavors.

Great authentic dosa. The potato filling is often hard to get right, they are spot on. Sambhar is also very very good. Great addition to the neighborhood.

My partner and I happened upon dosa shack the other night when picking up some Thai from Wat Zab. We had never seen it before and I was in the mood for a lassi, so we stopped by to check it out. I got a lassi and spontaneously ordered some "samosa nachos" and holy cow. First, the lassi was great, no complaints. But the samosa nachos were spectacular - innovative and fresh. I'll definitely be coming back to try some of their gluten-free options!

Worst dosa I have ever had and I have had many all over the country and in India. Small and Soggy pink tinged (!) with tepid small scoop of masala inside. The Sambar was a barely interesting type of squash blended dip . Stomach sick now. Will not be going back and do not recommend .

A really fun take on South Indian flavors with unique fusion ingredients! We had the classic dosa, corn uttapam, and rose doffle. All superb! Those familiar with Indian food will recognize the traditional foods these riff on and combine - sambar, gulab jamun, etc. but will be pleasantly surprised at how well they work! A great spot to check out for S Indian food lovers and newbies alike!

As somebody who in his life has eaten hundreds of dosas I feel like an expert. First off this is a unique concept of a dosa food truck and not the typical large dosas store restaurants that are brown. This felt more like a home dosa (a savory crepe) that was white and had bit pink. Not sure why and what made it pink in the dough but I agree with all the reviews on the potato filling--best I've ever had. The spices and taste was perfect. The dips were okay. Not bad but okay. Seemed like it was tamed down for a western pallet. The samosa nachos were really good. A bold concept but clever and very good. Mango lassi was small for 5 bucks but can't lie it was good and just the right amount of sweet. I can't say I'd go back here but it's a solid spot and ate all my food. Service here is also amazing. Probably owners too busy to ever read this but if they did would be awesome if they added poori and that potato to the menu and podi dosa option. But I think they like being eclectic and those may be too authentic options. But hey I can dream. Lol I'd be there every day.

My husband and I were craving dosa and are so happy to have found this place. We came with low expectations as the dosa scene in Austin has been sub-par. We got the classic and a paneer dosa and they were great. Crisp dosa, good amount of filling. This place is definitely on the more fusion side so understand that before you come. Will definitely be making a trip back.

If you want to taste the Indian spicy food just visit this place. They make the food in traditional way and the food very tasty and healthy. They are dosa in pink which is Represented a unique food from other restaurants. all the "DOSAS and the DOFFLES" are very tasty. original Dosa with Parmesan powder along with Curry leaf butter, classic Dosa With potato onion and peppy paneer Dosa which is Taste feel like AN Indian Dosa and they make spcc Dosa with fillings of creamed spinach, paneer and corn. .its taste like Heaven....My favourite Dosa is "DEVIL VEGGIE" with selection of veggies and spicy schezwan sauce which feels like Indian Spicy food. The best snack food in this Food truck is samosa nachos and Root veggie chat ' i like that food very much' They are making Desserts in two types one is "Banana &caramel the other one is Rose caramel These two desserts Taste is Unimaginable. any body wants to eat Tasty and Healthy food just try this food truck at once you guys will Never regret...
