The Best Restaurants in Woolwich and Plumstead, South East London | Eater London

"A no-fuss restaurant on Plumstead High Street, Dosa & Sambal Express serves excellent South Indian and Sri Lankan food. Split into a number of sections, the huge menu is filled with must-try dishes, so it’s worth either visiting with a group, or planning more than one trip. The crab kari is an essential, as is the D&S special kothu roti with a trio of mutton, chicken and seafood. Other stand outs include ulunthu vadai dumplings with urad dhal, green chilli and sweet coconut chutney; battered cauliflower Manchurian with a slightly sour Indo-Chinese sauce; the egg and fish roll stuffed with potato masala; idli as perfect vehicles for scooping up the accompanying sambal and sambar; and dosas brushed with mysoor chutney." - Jonathan Hatchman

I had dinner this evening at Dosa & Sambal Express with a friend and the whole experience was simply lovely. The dosa were excellent, fresh, well-prepared and full of flavour. What made the meal even more enjoyable was the warm, personal touch throughout. The service was friendly and attentive without ever feeling forced. The place has a relaxed, homey feel that made us feel comfortable straight away. It’s the kind of spot you’re glad to have discovered. We’ll definitely be returning.

In our takeaway, we got chapatis that weren't toasted well and tasted raw. Kesari was dried out and tasteless as seemed to have been reheated many times. Portion size is ridiculously reduced to half than what it was earlier. Overall disappointing.

I’m a Sri Lankan foodie and this is the best authentic South Indian & Sri Lankan dishes that I go to in Greenwich & Bexley. Price& service is great. My family’s favourites are house special mix devil and mutton, Chicken and Veg Kothu & Thalli.

What an experience! We had to wait over 30 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it finally did, the service ended there. We had to wait even longer for someone to clear our table so we could comfortably start with more food. Despite being a group of five, we were served only two glasses for water and had to repeatedly request more. There was no follow-up from the staff after the food was served—no cutlery, no attention to our needs. The lady behind the bar seemed completely occupied with her own matters, showing no concern for the guests. This level of service was truly disappointing. Thank you for the *no service*.

Honestly such a lovely restaurant, having never tried Sri Lankan food we were all highly impressed with the food and service received. We were a big table of 6 adults and a child and sat down to enjoy a nice family meal. The food was especially tasty and amazing portion size for money. We all enjoyed, even ordered abit to much. The waiter was very attentive, as well as the owner who came to greet us from the kitchen, amazing hospitality, friendly service. Such politeness and engaged in conversation. The toilet facilities were exceptionally clean. Only reason for a lack of star, is that the two years ordered Were not for our liking. Very milky and weak. Would be better to bring the brewed tea and allow customers to add their milk for themselves. Apart from that, definitely recommend this restaurant to all!

Just ordered takeaway as I've heard good things about this restaurant, it did not disappoint. Chicken kothu was delicious and chicken 65 was cooked perfectly. Nice & spicy, definitely recommend

Ordered take away asked to make spicy chettinad curry just added triple pepper powder.. and the chicken feels like isn’t fresh at all. Fleshy meat smell. Disappointed with curry received.
