Dosirak is the Korean word for lunchbox, think of it as a Korean bento box. (Same smell.)
Overall my day was going well but had a challenging morning. I was attempting to stay focused, keeping my mind from ruminating over things out of my control; moving on... 'And what better distraction than friends & food?! Well, there's always booze and drugs. I'm joking!... I don't drink. ;) Drugs are a different story.
Friend, Matt C, was having a challenging late afternoon, called me up and we ended up here. I'm a foodie but Matt C is more of a refined foodie than myself. I almost chose sushi but remembered Matt's sushi of choice is Sugar Fish in LA. I thought maybe Korean would be a safe choice being unsure of his background with Korean grub... 'And course, I was wrong. HA! He knew his way around the menu like he had been here before.

The food was good. However, the "spicy," in my pork dosirak was lacking. Where's the heat? Flavor was good but the spice level was almost non existent. The seasoned sliced squid had more heat than the box lunch. I enjoyed the mind and banchan. The jap chae was also tasty. I wasn't terribly hungry as mentioned before, it was nice to just get out. However, as unhungry as I was, I finished the entire box... 'With the exception of the squid. I will try to make it back when I'm in the area and try the gimbap and sautéed eggplant. (Thumbs up)
Matt C gave his thumbs up for his galbi bowl and spicy cucumber.
They do have complimentary water cups available but be warned, they are more like "water sample" cups, the kind you find at your local COSTCO. Truth. I literally laughed out loud when I saw the small paper cup; couldn't have been taller than 2". I had a flashback of my recent visit to the dentist office, "Am I supposed to rinse and spit?" Yeh, that was hilariously chinchy. (i.e. - Cheap) BYOB - Bring your own bottle. Another thing that I pay attention to when visiting an asian restaurant is the art napkin rationing which is also practiced here. (One napkin per order.)
The shop is located in plaza with several food options; Thai, Japanese, New York style pizza, Korean fried chicken, Indian, and of course a Starbucks. Also, a Jenny Craig for those who feel guilty after eating here.
