My go-to spot! I’ve been going to Dot since they opened. I love the aesthetic and the outside areas. There’s mirrors everywhere which I loveeeee. Plus they’re weed friendly! I have to admit I’ve been coming here so long that I’m greeted by name lol but I love that I’ve found community at a bar. I think it’s important to have a night spot where you are respected, appreciated, and secure, especially as a black woman. My favorite days to go are Tuesdays and Thursdays. I don’t go out as much anymore but when I do, 9 times out of 10 I’m at Dot.

Surprised at how the doormen have such strict policies even when the night isn't packed. I want to give this bar a higher rating but this place is nothing but an overstocked dive cocktails are less than mediocre, the space doesn't fill its capacity and still the bartenders demand a $75/cover for men (regardless of whether you're one of the gworls or not.) would Much rather prefer the vibes at the w hotel around the corner. Skip this place. Parking is also a nightmare

I was visiting from Seattle and this spot was highly recommended to me. Cozy atmosphere, great vibe, and an overall fantastic experience. The place is truly awesome—and trust me, having seen venues like this both nationally and internationally, it deserves far better reviews than what I’ve read.

My recent visit with my girlfriend to dot dotla left much to be desired, primarily due to an unwelcoming start and undue pressure to meet a spending minimum. We had reserved a spot on the guest list in advance, expecting a smooth and enjoyable evening. However, as soon as we arrived, the experience took a negative turn. Right at the door, the doorman demanded my card and informed us of a $60 minimum spending requirement for men. This was not communicated to us when we made the reservation, which felt deceptive and set a sour tone for the night. The immediate pressure to spend a specific amount made the experience feel transactional rather than hospitable, which is far from what we expected from a venue that required prior reservations. This approach not only created an uncomfortable atmosphere but also detracted from what could have been a pleasant outing. So anyway I bought 2 drink sidecar for 57.$ LEFT 30 minutes after I left NO TIps Barman charge my card 87$ I made a mistake by leaving my bill at the bar now they scamming? I will be in contact with your establishment to demand answer tried to call no answer The lack of transparency about the spending minimum and the barmaid overcharge left me feeling scam from the moment we stepped in. Unfortunately, this overshadowed any potential enjoyment we might have had. I would urge the management to be upfront about any spending requirements when guests make reservations and to train staff to handle such policies with more tact and professionalism. I want to also address them overcharging me Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this venue to others looking for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Make sure to check y’all bill before leaving UNACCEPTABLE!

Shady bartender on 11/26! Bring cash if you think to go! Sneaky bartender adding in his own $20 tip and being secretive about it. Once they hand you the machine you notice it asks for a tip on top of what you didnt know they had taken cause he scans the card for you. On top of that knowing you are next and you providing your order he services 5 other people ahead of you too. Blames you for calling him over when he and another bartender at the time were just standing there.

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve been to this bar a few times now and it was great. However, tonight they double charged all of the drinks on my tab. The drinks are already overpriced and they add gratuity, One drink is a mistake, multiple drinks is NOT ok. That’s intentional. I don’t recommend coming here but if you do, watch your tab!

I hate to write a bad review because this place used to be the spot where the classy black folk can go and feel at ease but it’s gotten terrible in the last year. The doorman must think he’s Jesus or something because a lady friend and I went, waited in line (it was early with barely anyone there) and he just stood there and looked around and didn’t say anything to us. After what felt like 10 minutes I asked what was the hold up and he said we had to wait because it was packed (it was like 10pm). He also said it’s a $75 bar minimum for guys but fine whatever I did it. I went inside & it was empty. Dude straight up lied lol It left a sour taste in my mouth and I couldn’t even try to enjoy myself the rest of the night. I’m disappointed that one of the few black bars in LA would exploit its own people like that. The Dot in Hollywood is skinfolk ain’t kinfolk personified. If you want a better vibe that’s actually sophisticated and not some fake Hollywood bourgeoise ish go to Sincerely Yours in DTLA. Dot will never see me or my black dollars ever again.

This place is a fun vibe. Very small inside though. Hip hop vibes an outdoor area and we had a great time. The drinks are really pricey though.
