Kamala Harris’s Chocolate Cake From Savannah Cafe Will Be Available Nationwide Soon | Eater Carolinas

"A small, all-day Southern cafe opened in 2023 by co-owner Ericka Phillips and her husband/chef Chris Meenan, this cozy spot emphasizes homey, nourishing hospitality inspired by Phillips’s great-grandmother. Its chocolate salted caramel cake—created to celebrate her great-grandmother’s birthday and now considered a potential signature cake—sold out daily after a viral moment when Vice President Kamala Harris sampled it during a Savannah visit on August 29; the team has been making extra batches and is working toward shipping the cake across the U.S. The menu leans Southern comfort with items like crab rice salad, seafood gumbo, collard green grilled cheese, and an assortment of cakes, and Phillips frames the business as a way to offer guests the warm, seen, and cared-for feeling her great-grandmother embodied. She also stresses the importance of continued support for small restaurants, noting the attention the industry received during quarantine has waned and that local businesses still need backing." - Erin Perkins

Dottie’s is a fine cuisine restaurant with service and food rivaling the best restaurants in any major city. Our server was charming and took time to explain the menu and specialty dishes. The owner was so warm and welcoming and our chef served up delectable iterations of southern cuisine, delighting us in every bite! We found this gem our last night in Savannah and wished we had discovered sooner to enjoy their coffee and breakfast menu! What a warm and lovely experience from the front door to the books, charming cooking and entertaining pieces, the atmosphere was welcoming! I must also mentioned how lovely it was to be served on the ‘good china’

Google
Love this cute cafe restaurant!! We went in to cool off in A/C with a drink and were so spoiled with service that we stayed for dinner and then returned twice because we enjoyed being there so much. When we sat with our wine the first evening we were treated with a complimentary sharing platter of fresh bread, whipped lemon butter, deviled eggs, and pickled veggies. The chef overheard that my friend had never had grits so he made a small bowl for her to try. I had the Smash burger and homemade chips. The burger was on a fresh brioche roll had a hash brown on it. So good!! We also ordered the cabbage and watermelon rind slaw salad. It was so fresh, light and tasty. The perfect salad for a scorching summer day! When we returned for a coffee and breakfast the chef recognized us and came out to say hello and chat with us every time. We felt like it was our “local” every time even though we were just there on vacation.

Google
Must stop while in Savannah! Food is excellent. They provide a complimentary charcuterie board of homemade bread and pickled veggies. The service was outstanding! Our server, Chris, made excellent suggestions and was able to explain everything on the menu very well. Very fun dinner experience!

The best meal I had in Savannah after being here for a week. MUST GET the gumbo, it was the best I ever had. The Brussels were also really great! Our waitress Serena was AMAZING and truly elevated our experience. We would probably come back every night if we could

Google
Oh Dottie you were the perfect start to our trip and the best example of southern hospitality. Part market, part quaint scratch kitchen restaurant serving a nice sized menu of treats. They provided us a bread plate to start with a light smoked pear cheese, pickled okra and tomatoes and deviled eggs. I ordered the Fried green tomato to start which was crispy and divine. A hearty seafood gumbo which was not your typical gumbo. It was earthy, flavorful and piping hot. The turtle cheesecake was the perfect ending. Run to this place if you're visiting.

Google
The kitchen shines bright here with thoughtful and well executed dishes created by world class chef Chris Meenan. The service was delightful and energetic. Our server, Serena, was very knowledgeable about the food and definitely helped us with our choices, although we would like to have eaten some of everything on the menu.

My husband and I arrived to Savannah, and this place was one block from our rental. We were starving and went to this place… and it was amazing. If you are hungry this a very good place. The portions are very generous, the taste! Omg! We ordered salad, sandwich and pastries… everything deli! Also if you are a matcha lover, I highly recommend, my husband says coffee was very good. And the atmosphere and the people who works there is very friendly. A very very good spot to have a wonderful welcome.

Google
Great spot for a quick bite in the morning. This place exceeded expectations!! The collard greens were delicious. Corn bread was toasted and our favorite of the whole Savannah trip. The bacon was thick with a smoky sweet taste. The potatoes cake was so so good! Expensive for breakfast but worth it. We heard about this place from our bartender the night before at The Grey!

Yelp
Lovely casual spot recommend by friends that live in Savannah part time. Like a general store setting with friendly and attentive staff. Shared the charcuterie board and roasted cauliflower which were both excellent. Focaccia baked on premise was so good! We were all in a salad mood and had the Farmhouse, Crab/Rice and Vegetarian dish that had mushrooms and quinoa. Finished off with some chocolate truffles...yummy! Would definitely return. Breakfast and lunch menu look interesting as well!

Yelp
Pictured was one of their specials. This flounder special did NOT disappoint. The flavor profile of this particular dish was eclectic, to say the least. The roasted lemons profile of this dish was AMAZING! The cream base of this dish offered such a nice contrast texture to the flakey flounder within this dish. The cream base, of cauliflower, offered a tart taste. The flounder was cooked perfectly-slightly crisp/flakey on the outside and tender on the inside. Also pictured is one of their strawberry cocktails-very refreshing and perfect for summer. The appetizer board was complimentary from the kitchen but still, amazing! You know what to do, check em out!-A

Yelp
We were meeting family for a quick night in Savannah and found this restaurant to be highly recommended on Yelp. We made a reservation, and the hostess was very nice on the phone. When we arrived, our table wasn't quite ready, but they brought us water while we waited. Our waitress, Tangie, greeted us and got drinks out quickly. Our nephew was so excited by all of the soda options and got a ring pop soda that he loved. Mason brought us a beautiful appetizer board that had delicious bread, smoked pear butter, deviled eggs, pickles, and marinated tomatoes. So good! We also had the tot appetizer, which was gone in minutes. For entrees, we had smash burgers, fried chicken, and rotisserie chicken. We also had the mac and cheese and tomato salad. The burgers came with homemade chips. All of the food was delicious, and the portions were generous. The restaurant is not big but it was really pleasant. The staff were so nice and really attentive. We loved everything about our dinner and really want to come bavk whem we visit Savannah. There are some sandwiches that we want to try, so we will probably come for lunch next time we are in town.

Yelp
This was a delicious stop during our girls trip. We enjoyed a homemade meal and coffee. I went for the spicy chicken and biscuit. It was unique as it had collards, grits and a unique spicy sweet sauce. It was amazing and tasted perfect. I loved all the little market items for sale, diy cheese board which was unique and the meal choices were all great. The service is great and the cafe is super cute. They had delicious looking cakes and pastries. Everything on everyone's plate looks good. It's a must stop while in the area.

Yelp
The seafood gumbo was beyond delicious. Go and get it! Ordered at the counter, sat at the sidewalk tables. Service was kind. Fun selection of regional sodas.

Yelp
What an amazing spot!!! The decor had a southern kitchen vibe and the staff were very welcoming. We started with a Bloody Mary and espresso martini, delicious. Then we tried the crispy chicken sandwich and the figgy piggy. They were both packed with flavor and delicious! Definitely a great place to try if you are in the area!

Yelp
Little cafe. Not a lot of seating in or out. If you are chasing a sweet pastry they run out early. Order then seat yourself. Pleasant staff despite a non stop crowd all asking what is good every time. Had the smoked brisket burger with pimento cheese. Hash brown sandwich which was also good.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! Just, wow. We were so impressed with the food here. Ordered the battered cauliflower as an app and could have been satisfied with it as my meal. My mom got the ribs, which she could have used more sauce for, I ordered the fish po boy - amazing, and my sister got the Mac and cheese and broccolini. Our service was odd...they said a female waitress would tend our table, but it ended up being a male almost the entire time. Nothing was too slow or fast making it the perfect dinner spot. They served a complimentary chefs board that had deviled eggs, pickled tomatoes, olives and bread with blueberry butter. The tomatoes were so good, we bought a jar to bring home.

Yelp
Just driving through Savannah to stop for a quick coffee and met a nice lady name Gene (?). She recommended this sweet cafe and we immediately fell in love upon entering. The smell, sights and sincerity of the staff, especially the owner who happened to be there, had me at hello. Can't wait to return!!!

Yelp
This is a great, local cafe! They have pastries, coffee and a small food menu. While I didn't have the food, the coffee was excellent. I ordered a simple iced coffee with oat milk and the coffee was very smooth. There are a few tables inside and it's a great place to hang out with friends, work or read. My only complaint is the coffee is a little expensive for the size. It was almost $7 for a small.

Yelp
Phenomenal. A step above fine dining. All the food is prepared with such love and care. Really special. You will want to go back. Everyone is really friendly and the music is groovy. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The first time I looked at Dottie's menu, my first thought was "FINALLY, a real salad in Savannah!" I came on Super Museum Sunday with some friends. We are all local, 3 of us are vegetarian (myself included), 1 vegan and 1 normal person with no restrictions (lol). Dottie's was exactly what we needed for lunch. They had plentiful delicious and healthy lunch options and house made teas and beverages, along with your regular soda products. The store items were fun to look at while waiting for our food to come out. We opted to order at the counter in the front and self sit. In the back of the cafe, you can be seated and waited on. Same menu. I ordered the roasted acorn squash salad and ate every last bite on my plate. It was fresh, flavorful, and healthy! Two of my friends ordered and loved the southern roots bowl, which was my runner up option. After we ordered, they gave us a number to put on the table and they bring your food to you. All of the staff members were polite and welcoming. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Gina D.

Yelp
We first showed up because of the very small menu. My parents were nervous. They were afraid that they were not going to enjoy the meal. Every single item we had was out of this world. We will definitely be going back. Our waitress was wonderful. And the outdoor seating was perfect for us, especially since we were a larger party and had a baby in a stroller. Cannot wait to go back and see what changed and what new desserts there are

Yelp
Exceptional experience at Dottie's today-from the friendly service to the delicious eats! Their muffaletta sandwich ($18) was better than the New Orleans original with fresh baked foccia bread, a variety of hams, salami, provolone and their in house made olive salad. With the warm temperatures today the rich in flavor iced Espresso Vanilla Cream ($6) hit the spot. Yummy. At this Broughton Street restaurant customers place their orders at the counter, take a number, and they bring your order to you. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
What an elegant /charming place to grab a bite and cup of coffee! I got the muffuletta- the bread was super soft, fresh, and rich with flavor. There was plenty of meat and cheese inside with interesting condiments inside, I want to say pesto on one side and perhaps pickled sweet peppers? It was delicious and that's all that matters. The pickle slices had a unique sweetness to them. The potato salad is freshly made. My husband got the rotisserie chicken club. If we were to go back I would order this over the muffuletta (personal flavor preference). The rotisserie chicken was so moist and flavorful and they didn't skimp on the portion. His bread was also freshly made. He also got potato salad and pickles on the side. The drip coffee was excellent. I do not like bitter or burnt coffee and this did not disappoint. The blend was very smooth. There are many items for sale inside ranging from honey to candles. The vibe is very upscale casual. There are plenty of tables in and outside to enjoy a bite or cup of coffee. Prices are reasonable considering location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. This isn't a restaurant where they come to your table- you order and they give you a number to put on the table. Overall a very smooth process. Someone came by to clear our plates while we stayed to finish our coffee. One last thing- someone was celebrating their birthday and the staff did a very fun routine where they played a song over the speakers and everyone got into the mood. So if you're looking for a fun birthday brunch this could be the perfect spot.

Yelp
Love Dottie's Market! They are located on Broughton Street. It is on the same block with the Ordinary Pub. When you walk inside you will see seating on your right, a counter to order on your left, and also if you do not have time to stay they have pre made options in a cooler on the left too. The menu is above the counter. There is a small market in the middle. It is so cute! Towards the back you will find a counter with stools where you can also sit and eat. The coffee counter is directly behind you. If you just want coffee walk straight to the back and place your order. But you can also place it at the counter up front. The food, wow scrumptious! The portion size is large for sandwiches. Come to Dottie's with a hearty appetite! My husband got the rotisserie chicken club. I took a bite. Oh my goodness, sooo good. It will ruin the chicken sandwiches you make for yourself at home with leftovers. I got the Italian beef sandwich. On the menu it is listed as the following: focaccia, prime rib, giardiniera, sweet peppers. I was incredibly excited to see a sandwich without cheese! I can not eat cheese unfortunately. When my sandwich arrived it had fontina cheese on it. I asked the server if it had cheese on the menu. She checked for me and discovered cheese was not listed on this sandwich on the menu. The server was so kind and told the chef. The chef personally made my sandwich and brought it out to me. He apologized. It was excellent customer service. The sandwiches come with a small potato salad side. I am personally not a fan of a mayonnaise-y potato salad. But that being said, the salad is well seasoned, potatoes are not overcooked, and the fresh dill is a lovely touch. My husband enjoyed the potato salad. Coffee! My husband and I each got a cup. I got a dirty chai latte with oat milk. He got one of their tumeric lattes. My dirty chai was excellent. My husband's tumeric latte was lacking for tumeric flavor unfortunately. I will be back to try Dottie's for breakfast or dinner.

Yelp
Truly the perfect lunch stop that had us talking for days. We split the fried chicken sandwhich and cinnamon sugar donut, and both kept saying we wish we didn't split! The chicken sandwhich's chicken was a large amount, the pesto was phenomenal and fresh, it had gooey barrata and tomatoes and truly a 10/10. I loved the potato salad- it had a ton of fresh dill. But the donut... it's a sourdough donut and quite zingy but had my husband get up and ask the server about them because we were floored by the flavor. Super cute inside inside- not a ton of seating but in my mind worth it on a hot day to eat nicely priced food while in the AC.

Rebecka P.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. It felt like I was eating at my grandmas house. It was so inviting and warm as soon as you walked in, and the smells... amazing! Obviously the food was beyond expectations. Every item was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. But what really set Dotties apart was the staff. Sabrina was an amazing server. She was patient with us, gave us great recommendations, and had us smiling the whole night. All of the staff seemed happy to be there and it was just a special vibe you have to see for yourself. Will 100% be back on our next trip to Savannah!
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
They didn't hold our reservation. Host was rude and unapologetic. We had an 8 top reserved for the dining room and they tried to seat us on the street. They sat another table ahead of us and disregarded our reservation even though we were exactly on time.
google avatar

Lisa U.

Yelp
Ah-maz-ing! The Passion fruit Paloma was the perfect blend of tart and sweet with layers of passion fruit puree, whipped cream, meringue, and passion fruit sponge cake, topped with fresh berries and mandarins. Key lime tart was delicious. I has the egg salad sandwich (with the smoked salmon). The piped bread was airy and light. Perfect for this sandwich. Son had the gumbo. Every bit of seafood and fish was expertly cooked. Fair warning, the broth is sweet. Not my taste but otherwise it was quite good. Don't forget to enjoy a cocktail to go!

Kennedy K.

Yelp
This was our second visit to Dottie's, and once again, they did not disappoint! The last time we visited, we enjoyed breakfast, but this time we decided to try dinner, and it was fantastic. Our server, Gabi, was exceptional--very knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide us through our meal from starters, to the main course, dessert, and even tea. Her recommendations were spot-on! We also love the warm and inviting ambience of the restaurant, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. One of the highlights of the evening was getting to try the Famous Cake, which we missed last time because it often sells out quickly. It was definitely worth the hype! Thank you to everyone at Dottie's for another wonderful meal. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Kiki L.

Yelp
This was one my list while I was in Savannah. I finally made it in before I flew out. Let me tell you - this place is amazing and I wish I ate there every day I was in town. I had the roast beef sandwich and it was tender and seasoned perfectly, the staff were so friendly and kind.

Yelp
Well Well Well! I am in loooovvvveeeee with this spot! On entry I was greeted so pleasantly and promptly made my way to a seat at the bar area. A cute store with gifts, pastries, coffee bar, kitchen and restaurant seating. They also had handmade Gullah baskets which I swooned over! Wait to you see the picture of my delicious lunch! Smoked salmon plate oh boy, 1st it was huge! 2nd it was by far the best brunch item I have had in a long time. Seeded brown toast with a smear of horseradish cream, poached egg perfectly cooked, grilled asparagus and lashings and lashings of delicate smoked salmon Yummy! Everyone was super friendly and I will be returning tomorrow!!! Do t walk run!
google avatar

Yelp
Do not order brewed coffee. We received it after we finished eating, despite the fact we offered to pay for Americano mid way through the wait.

Yelp
Savannah is filled with wonderful places to eat. Having come here 4 times now, my mother and I know that. Dottie's Market is newer and after viewing their menu, I was quite intrigued. I read nothing but rave reviews on how great Dottie's is. Their menu features a lot of classic southern staples, but with some flair! It is evident based on the flavors of their food that a lot of passion goes into their menu. Everything is made from scratch here (and I mean everything) with the highest quality ingredients. The interior is warm, with a welcoming, comfortable vibe about it. You can order to go or order at the counter top and eat there. It is a more laid back environment, which we enjoyed! The service is great and friendly. The ordering is very easy and efficient. We both opted for the hash brown sandwich which included breakfast sausage, fried egg, english muffin, pepper relish, and american cheese. I ordered a piece of their homemade dulche de leche French toast, along with a latte. They warmed the French toast and let me tell you it was DIVINE. The bread was so soft, with a moist center, and nice crusted edges. The dulche de leche was subtle and not too overpowering or sweet. It had an almond croissant like filling and was topped with almonds, which just added to the complexity of the flavors. Oh it was just sooo good, I would recommend ordering any of their daily interchanging pastries! Our sandwiches came out shortly after and were served hot and fresh. The English muffin was definitely made from scratch, along with the sausage patty and hash brown on it. The sausage patty was one of the best we've ever had with immense amounts of savory flavor. The sausage was complimented wonderfully by the slight sweetness of the pepper relish. The fried egg was cooked to perfection and the American cheese tied everything together. And I cannot forget to mention how amazing the homemade Hashbrown patty was, definitely not like your typical fried Hashbrown from McDonalds. We both agreed this was one of the BEST breakfast sandwiches we've had and cannot stop RAVING about it! Overall, Dottie's is an impressive establish that takes your classic southern fair and elevates it. My french toast was the perfect size, with just the right amount of sweetness. Our hash brown sandwiches were more than satisfying with unique, bold flavors. I cannot give them enough praise for everything between the service, the food, the atmosphere, it all made for a memorable eating experience. We were both blown away with our experience here and will most definitely return to try other things on the menu, highly recommend!

Yelp
AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! The food was absolutely delicious. I love the open kitchen concept. I sat at the bar and was able to watch as the food was being cooked. Loved that. This is sort of a one stop shop place. There's a bakery, a coffee bar and a dine in bar. They also sell fresh juices and cold brew coffee. It was the middle of the work day so I wasn't able to try any of their cocktails but I am plan on it for my next visit. The food was so fresh! Again, I was able to watch as my po' boy was being made. I will say I was a little disappointed in the side of potato salad that came with my sandwich only because I am not a big fan of mayonnaise, but it was surprisingly tasty. Potatoes were cooked well but a little heavy on the mayonnaise. I did enjoy the fresh dill throughout the potato salad but the portion was tiny. I would have preferred fruit or even french fries. On my way out I was even offered a free cinnamon roll and my goodness was it amazing. Moist and not overly sweet. If this was any indication of their baked goods then I'll take one of everything fresh from the oven. Other than potato salad hang-up my visit was great. I would come back and try other menu options.
google avatar

Kelley B.

Yelp
I loved this little place. My food was excellent. The rotisserie chicken I imagine, just slide off the bone straight onto the sandwich it was so juice. The service was nice, and I loved that they had a bunch of half bottle wines. I would go back here if I was visiting again.
google avatar

Mariana K.

Yelp
Ordered a gumbo bowl to share with my husband and the flavors were immaculate and the family atmosphere gave all the small town feels, but we do wish that the menu had a few more options and was a little more affordable. Paying $25 for a bowl that was kinda small felt like a bit of a stretch.
google avatar

Cynthia F.

Yelp
You MUST try this market. Delicious, mount-watering food. Fresh, high quality ingredients. Unusual flavor combinations and interesting use of herbs and spices. Everything looks and tastes homemade. Cheerful, helpful service. Fun vibe. I highly recommend the avocado toast, with and without smoked salmon (I had one, my husband had the other), Oma's cabbage salad, their homemade pomegranate cheese cake and fruit-filled Danish pastry. If you don't have time to dine in, I noticed there's a fridge of appealing grab 'n go sandwiches. In addition to food, I saw lots of great gift items and wine bottles.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
The food here was unique and soooo good. My wife had a mushroom burger that was a grilled portobello mushroom with other vegetables on it that she really enjoyed. Her meal came with asparagus fries that were amazing. They had a great seasoning that gave both flavor and a crispness and then there was an aioli for dipping that was wonderful. I had a rotisserie chicken club that was made up of big pieces of chicken and came on some wonderful grilled bread. You had to place your order and the food was then delivered to your table when ready and the woman that took our order was very friendly. There are limited tables for seating but the place is very cute, has a great vibe, and they played really good music. I would definitely Dottie's.
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible from start to finish! Mom had the Rueben and I had Cobb salad. Iced mochas were delightful! But their beans!! Friendly service, nice ambiance, wheelchair accessible in main restaurant area but not in the restroom. Was a highlight of our trip to Savannah.
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding service for starters. The food was fresh, hot, and well presented. We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer and it was very good. The seafood gumbo was hot, spicy, and a rather large serving. Topped with a crawfish and small piece of sea bass......excellent! The owner / chef (?) came out to check with us, too. It was a little slow when we arrived, but it was full when we left. Even ordered the desert (mango) and I think we'd do the banana dessert next time. They comped a little bread/butter/pickle/tomato/okra/deviled egg board up front which we very very nice and it was delicious. Such a nice server! We'll be back. A little pricey....so be aware, and no free refills of tea, so FYI. But overall, the food was outstanding, the service was great, and we'll be back for lunch or breakfast, soon!

Yelp
I absolutely loved Dottie's for breakfast! We were trying to find a place for brunch on a Sunday and stumbled into Dottie's. The breakfast blueplate was to die for! The bacon. Wow. And I'm the apple fritter!! Wow. And the hot honey latte! I was skeptical but wow. Plus the vibe. Love it!

Yelp
We came here because we saw on the news that Kamala Harris had visited, and were impressed with not just the friendly staff, but the fun menu and delicious food. Breakfast is priced a tad higher than other restaurants, but more than worth it from the quality of ingredients and overall superior taste. A great selection of quality pastries as well, and a separate espresso bar that knows how to actually make proper lattes and other drinks.

Livia D.

Yelp
For a place that is supposedly known for their hospitality, I felt extremely unwelcome. The cashier taking my to go order (latte and a muffin) kept cutting me off, and ignoring my questions. It was really strange, and I felt super uncomfortable. Latte was fine, I was never given my muffin (that was literally beside her in the display) so I just left. Mostly posting this bc my feelings were hurt, hope others have a better experience. I personally wont be back, nor will my friend who witnessed the short interaction. Cute enough establishment, prices seemed a bit steep. God speed.

Yelp
Earlier today at 3 pm, just as this cute place was closing, my wife and I walked up to the door to see the "Closed" sign flip. Instead of being disappointed, a kind lady opened the door and, with a smile, invited us in, saying, "Come on in, we'll make you whatever you want." I ordered a fig jam, pork, and brie sandwich on focaccia bread, which was absolutely delicious. This nice lady and her team didn't have to serve us, but they did, and it made my day. Great food, outstanding service, and a charming atmosphere. Give it a try!

Yelp
I was very excited to try Dottie's Market based on other Yelp reviews. I visited one afternoon for a drink/dessert with my service dog. I was the only customer in the store when I walked in. I picked up a beverage from the self service area and a staff member approached me and removed the drink from my hand without asking. I could clearly see she disliked my service dog being inside. I asked if I could get a table outside after ordering. I felt very rushed and, honestly, looked down upon. After placing my order, my service dog and I went outside to find a table. He immediately fell asleep at my feet as we waited for our drink/dessert. It took them 5 minutes to bring the drink out and another 5 minutes to bring my pre-made dessert. After finishing both items, we sat outside for an additional 20-30 minutes waiting for the waitress to come back and give us our check. I had to use the restroom but I was scared to re-enter with my service dog so we just sat and waited. Ultimately, I felt disrespected, forgotten and discriminated for having my service dog with me. We will not be back. There are plenty of other pet and service dog friendly places in Savannah that will receive our business.

Yelp
Dottie's was the highlight of my recent visit to Savannah, so much so that I ate there twice. It's the perfect place to start your day or grab a quick bite after shopping. The food is phenomenal, the service was stellar and the ambiance is just perfectly Southern. You really can't go wrong with a visit to this sweet little treasure own by a husband and wife team. It's obvious that special care went into every little detail including the well thought out menu of sandwiches, traditional breakfast items and their can't miss pastry case featuring house made desserts that are worth the visit alone. When you're done, don't forget to check out the wine selection along with a lovely variety of gourmet treats and gifts. No visit to Savannah is complete without a visit to Dottie's. Hands down worth the visit Thanks ya'll for the perfect start to my day.

Yelp
We were walking around the Marketplace area looking for a quick bite to eat. I asked at the tourist info desk where we should eat for lunch. The person told me "stop what you're doing and head to Dotties." I'm so glad we did. It's a sweet little cafe with a lunch counter and tables. We ordered the Rotisserie Chicken Club with rustic bread. The chicken was moist and tender with a house made lemon mayo added the perfect zing. Fresh rustic bread and pickled green tomatoes made it a delicious meal. I added a bag or sweet potato chips and a glass of Pinot Grigio. I can't wait to return! They also have a great selection of wines and other gourmet items and take away meals for your rental stay.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I have been here several times and have never had a bad dish. Dottie's Market will add seasonal items so I feel there are always fresh additions. The pastries are also amazing, the apple fritters are my favorite. The desserts are also lovely. Everything is win-win. Love the ribs, Oma's Cabbage Salad, Seafood Gumbo, Crispy Fish, Smoked Eggplant, etc. all winners! Service is attentive and the atmosphere is cosy. You can sit inside or outside.

Yelp
Visiting Savannah for a girl's trip, and decided to get some food while waiting for others to arrive. I wandered into Dottie's a stranger, and walked out feeling like a beloved regular. Ms. Dorothy took my order and set the tone for a wonderful meal. I had the shrimp poboy (fresh, juicy shrimp, warm lightly toasted bun) and a coffee that was recommended by Ms. Dorothy herself (the barista says it's basically a Cafe Au Lait, but around here they've been calling it the Ms. Dorothy). It was so good (and stayed warm the whole time I sipped it-yay) that I was about to order a second, but was told that you get a free refill. So I got a refill and a keylime pie (never actually tried it, but delish!). I'm going to try to convince my girls to try the dinner service. Either way, I'll be back!

Yelp
One of our favorite meals in Savannah! We happened upon Dottie's and so glad we did! Great brunch, lunch, and pastry spot. We each had the quiche of the day, which was mushroom, potato, asparagus and goat cheese. A hearty slice was given with a small salad of fresh dill, greens, tomato, and a light vinaigrette. This hit the spot in all the right ways. The star of the show though was the apple fritter. Best I have ever had! Chunks of apple in a pillowy pastry with a perfectly sweet glaze. This was large enough to split, but who would want to?? They had other delicious looking pastries there as well, along with sandwiches. Order at the counter, find your table and bus it at the end. Both inside and outside tables.

Yelp
My wife and I truly enjoyed the exceptional service and unique foods. We enjoyed breakfast twice. I'm a coffee snob and drink espresso and did not order espresso a second trip. (Missed the mark here for me) My wife enjoyed the cappuccino but it wasn't the "best ever". We both agree it's an excellent experience and would head back if we were ever in historic Savannah again.

Yelp
Such a cute new addition to Savannah! This market has a little of everything - bakery, coffee bar, to-go area, diner bar. It full of Southern charm as soon as you walk in the door. The refrigerated cooler is lines with fresh juices and cold brew coffee. They have a variety of premade breakfast items and salads. Their bakery case is loaded with homemade breads, pastries and pies. I went for the coffee bar and got their signature drink - shaken espresso with vanilla cream. Omg was it delish! The espresso is strong but it's sweetened by the heavy cream. It's you're a fancy coffee person I highly recommend it. They also have a full restaurant menu. I was drooling reading it! I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner! 5 stars all around!

Yelp
The best ever croissant was the one I had today from Dottie's -- dark chocolate inside and chocolate stripes outside. Buttery but light and flaky. Extra big. The ultimate chocolate croissant. How can I ever settle for anything less again.

Yelp
This is a delicious, high end, gourmet establishment. We joined for dinner (note the different menu from lunch) and sat at the chef's table, which is like a fancy counter bar with vantage into the kitchen. Service is fabulous. Love the staff, and every creative, delicious dish we tried. They begin the meal with complimentary snacks of deviled eggs, green tomato and pepper pickles, sourdough bread (warm, crusty, thick, dark) and pear butter. Yum. Special collard greens appetizer (collards wrapped dolma style around dirty rice covered in a black eyed pea vinaigrette) was so memorable. Got the fish catch of the day, halibut with citrus, cauliflower two ways. Both amazing. Loved the cold rice and crab bowl (sweet and savory, like a play on rice pudding). Highly recommended. We tried the gumbo and enjoyed the quality and presentation, but would have enjoyed more seasoning on that dish. Still, it was good. We were too full for dessert (sad! They looked amazing!). Def want to go back if we're in Savannah again.
