Yelp
This Doubletree looks very nice & is located in the Greenway Plaza, which means there's near by restaurants on the lower level linking nearby businesses. Upon entering the hotel it's very quaint, semi-elegant atrium & decent reception area. Next to the check-in desk (lobby), is a Starbucks, a restaurant & the bar is around the corner. I liked the self check-in with the digital room key, even though cell reception in the hotel isn't great, even with wife. The room I was in, 818, was a nice spacious king sized bed & floor to ceiling windows. My room had a mini-fridge & a safe, no microwave. Very clean & modern. The bathroom area had a little separated room for the toilet/shower & another room for the iron/ironing board & closet with a safe. All was well, just judging the book by its cover. I'd think twice about booking here again but if all else fails, sure why not. LoL
Room Service: I ordered breakfast one day & it came at the marked time. It was hot, cooked to order & delicious. I got the breakfast quesadilla & it was a huge portion, easily enough for two.
Cons
*Parking & lack of elevator- After feeling like you're on an amusement park ride with the winding, downhill spiral into the parking garage & self-parking the car ($14 per night for my conference/ $22 regular price & $27 for valet ..... That's a ridiculous price to park my own car.), you walk into the building & there's NO elevator!!! You have to come up the escalator with your luggage, Really Doubletree!! Then you come to the "Concourse" level, here's where you either continue up another set of escalators or take the elevator to the right. There's no signs telling you this level is how you get to the shops & restaurants (which are closed on the weekend). Plus, there were no signs about to how get to my conference.
*Room-The AC in the room wasn't efficient, I had to cut it down to 60 degrees to make it feel like 70. Then there was the poor water pressure in the shower, this was almost a deal breaker for me, I almost changed rooms but sucked it up.
*Restaurant-Then several of my conference peers had issues in the restaurant one of the conference days; rude staff, delay in transitioning from breakfast to lunch after the stated time. One waiter tracked her down @ the conference to re-swipe her card! Wow
*Conference- there was a double booking issue so we had to change rooms & the company ended up changing hotels with the other group coming in. That's a MAJOR inconvenience to those coming in & NOT being at the hotel where the conference is.
